It is a self-proclaimed Bohemian and artist enclave. The Republic of Uzupis came into existence when the neighborhood was growing into a hive of growing artistic and counter culture activity.

The Constitution of the Republic of Užupis is an document capturing the unique spirit and ideals of the bohemian district of Užupis in Vilnius, Lithuania. Written in 1998, it reflects a blend of whimsicality and serious societal values, encompassing 41 articles that encompass rights, freedoms, and principles like the right to be happy, the right to be unhappy, and the celebration of creativity. This constitution continues to inspire reflection on human rights, creativity, and the pursuit of happiness.

An area in Lithuania which is a separate "Republic". Its a very creative and nice place with a lot of art and some bars and stuff. I think the stuff with the " republic" is more or less just a gimmic to attract tourists. On the 1st of april its the national day of Uzupis, you can get a stamp in your passport and can drink beer for free from a beer-fountain outside of the street in front of the statue with the woman (with the horn in her hand)

(Translated by Google) Hidden surprises all over the city. So do not jump and not pass without realizing it while traveling. The most beautiful free walking tours they bring to the day. Yes, there is a plaque in our language that knows Uzupi, of course, it is a symbolic expression. The plaque of every country that gives its money is hung here. Parasını veren her ülkenin burda plaketi asılıyor.

Very cozy part of the city. Perfect for late evening walks, dates or just a good time with friends. With all the cafes surrounding, you won't find a reason to leave early. Also an amazing place to enjoy street art! You don't need a car there, everything is in a reach by foot. Take your loved one, a friend, a camera or just wonder alone with your thoughts.. You will not regret!

The whole historic, old town part of Vilnius itself is unique and it is very large, incomparable and beautiful. and this Užupis is also incredibly unique. I also really liked the text of their Constitution. Every person who has visited Vilnius should definitely visit this unforgettable place.

This is the constitution of Uzupis, the self proclaimed bohemian republic within Vilnius. Long time ago this was a Russian neighborhood and was very run down. Now it is dotted by art installations and galleries proving to be the artsy and bohemian part of town. Prices on real estate has sky rocketed and young rich people move in making it more or less a normal part of town nowadays.

Very nice place to visit as a hipster kind of part of Vilnius. There are many plates with constitute of this small Republic. There are in many languages, probably you will find your own. Good to read it :) also, it's not on many tour guide books or websites, but this is something to see for sure as a alternative place in the city

Probably my fav piece of art in Vilnius. Uzupis`s constitution is funny (e.g. 11. Everyone has the right to look after the dog until one of them dies.) and meaningful (e.g. 33. Everyone has the right to cry.). Must visit in Vilnius. Translations have mirror background, so it`s a great selfie opportunity!

(Translated by Google) Carnavalesque say nothing! A bit of a 'sandwich monkey story'. Fills another do-thing in the travel guides and travel magazines can elaborate on it again and again. We'll talk about that again, take a picture and tell it again ..... So I do again - a bit pointless, a bit carnivalesque. Artist district? It will just be a new yuppie neighborhood .... When I walked there I actually did not find it fun or attractive at all. The old town is much nicer, more beautiful and culturally richer for hanging out, going out and shopping. The love locks on the gate have also been done in so many other places! (Original) Carnavaleske zeggenschap over niets!

Uzupis is an Ironically named small self-proclaimed Republic located within the city limits of Vilnius. The area is a World Heritage site. It has a somewhat bohemian ambience and there are many artists' studios and unusual eateries contained within its boundaries. The surprisingly large leafy cemetery of Bernardine, where many eminent locals are buried, is well worth a visit.

Its really a funny place. Its like a wall with set of life rules and the rules are really amazing. The rules will make you laugh and think how real and simple they are. Also, the best part is they have translated versions in most of languages across the wall. I have attached the samples. Do visit if you get some free time, it will hardly take around 20mins to read all and its free.

I suggest you take a look at the gates and wander these few streets of the Republic of Užupis. Hipster atmosphere in mind, but in my opinion a bit exaggerated. Despite this, I felt good in this part of the city. I recommend a walk, if only to form your own opinion on this topic :) (Original) Konstytucja Republiki Zarzecza. Żart i instalacja artystyczna, która po przeczytaniu daje sporo do myślenia. Proponuję zajrzeć w bramy i powłóczyć się po tych kilku uliczkach Republiki Zarzecza. Generally, no one would come there because, apart from collapsing houses, there is no one but if something is fashionable, you have to be. Restaurants so crowded that it's hard to find a vacancy.
