OK, whats to give stars for here? Its a sculpture of an angel, and its pretty symbolic to the place. Its actually kind of beautiful. And its one of very few things that should be on your «must» list when in Uzupis. The square (ie the triangle) itself is also a great place to experience.

It has a funny backstory - the artists couldn't finish it on time and put a big decorated egg on the pedestal instead, claiming that the angel will hatch soon.

Užupis - One of the most authentic parts of the town! If you don’t like seeing houses that aren’t perfectly restored, if you’d like art, if you don’t like good food, then please don’t go there. Užupis is an artsy and trendy neighbourhood with lots of young and creative pro living there. Plenty of art galleries and good bars and restaurants. It might not everybody’s cup of tea, but the Republic of Užupis never tried to be liked by everybody. The angel in the central square is the most famous landmark of the area and has a pretty cool story. When the sculptor Romas Vilčiauskas couldn’t finish the sculpture on time for the unveiling ceremony, an egg was put in its place and the community was told that the Angel of Užupis would soon hatch. The sculpture was finally completed in 2002 to commemorate the fifth anniversary of the “independence” of the neighbourhood.

In fact, in #lithuania there is a country called the Republic of Uzhpis. Although it declared independence in 1997, it is not an official country because it has not been approved by the United Nations. Independence day is 4/1 and it seems that a passport is needed only on this day. (I want to come in sometime) There are many cases where the date is just April Fools and it's often spoiled. In addition to the two love bridges raised before that, you can enter here from three bridges. Until these bridges were built until the 16th century, Uzupis was a deserted area with nothing. However, it became a secret spot for artists and artists from the late Soviet Union, and the present shape was completed. In the Uzupis constitution, everyone has the right to live freely. This statue of an angel is considered to be its symbol and was built in 2009. It is about 9 meters high. Local people seem to call them angels. I think deeply about what freedom is. philosophy. instagram:aed_traveler offten post travel info

Didn't like this part of town, cars and pedestrians struggling to share the narrow paths, a lot of derelict houses, a general depressed atmosphere and a lot of poverty. This looks like a provincial town in a small country, given the prices in neighboring bars and restaurants you'd think you're in Vienna... Statue is pretty in the evenings

Not many sightseeing around it. Okeyish monument

A nice monument in the middle of the village of Uzupis. Unfortunately, a restaurant terrace has been built in front of it, which impairs the enjoyment of it. However, if you are in the area, this is worth seeing.

The angel of Uzupiz guards the small square. The statue is very beautiful, but it is a bit difficult to admire because there is heavy traffic on the adjacent roads and several terraces with parasols have been built under the statue. The angel statue symbolizes the artistic freedom of the region. Quite a nice statue, but in addition to this, visit Uzupiz's "Declaration of the Constitution", Uzupiz's cat statue and, of course, the mermaid on the river in addition to this.

On the square stands the bronze statue of uzupis, the guardian angel of the Republic. Entering paupio g street from the other side of the intersection, you can get to the famous charter wall of the Republic on the other side. The wall shows the Charter of the Republic in various languages, and its words are full of freedom. This is a world of artists, cultural people and Vagabonds. Because of its free temperament, it attracts many travelers.

This is the center of Užupis and while simple has a lot around it and a good place to start when seeing Užupis

It is significantly smaller than it looks like in photos, and very underwhelming in general. Also it is very hard to get to since half the bridges lead to nothing

If you are already in the Uz district its worth checking out. You can stop in at one of the cafes near by to have a refreshment.

The Angel of Uzupis sits on a small square in Uzupis or as they call it, The Independent State of Uzupis. This independence is very tongue in cheek and is done in a good and humerus way. There is a fake border crossing which double as a souvenir shop. The is also a constitution written is many different languages which is well written and includes lines like the following. -Everyone has the right to look after the dog until one of them dies. -A dog has the right to be a dog. If you are in Vilnius then a hour or two spent in Uzupis is time well spent.

The whole suburb of Uzupis is seen as a small individual city, full of winding cobbled lanes, cafes and bars. Artwork adorns the riverside and streets, buildings and walls, and in the centre is this statue of an Angel. She may not be the Angel of the north, but she's a lovely sight in this lovely part of the city.
