The best modern art museum in Lithuania! Hands down! I love how interactive the exhibition is. Everyone can find something interesting for themselves. You can spend hours here exploring every piece and always will find something new and unseen.

It's quite difficult to assess the quality of the Modern Art museum by attending just only one exhibition. The one that I visited didn't impress much. I understand that there is a rotation plan and new exhibitions arrive few times a year. The space itself is not huge, but can accommodate a good number of art pieces. 3 floors and additional space on the ground floor. Souvenirs shop is small, but there are many peculiar things and art books on Vilnius, local artists and modern art scene in Lithuania. There is a small cafe inside as well. This time I enjoyed festival of light installation and a collection of Lithuania of the Soviet era photos. Definitely worth checking out and keep an eye of new events and exhibitions.

This is a contemporary art museum. The Vilnius Poker exhibition was mind blowing - one of the best we have ever seen inamy such museums visits. Cools building close to city center.

MO Museum is one of the most popular points of interest in Vilnius. There are crowds of people all the time. It is a contemporary art museum where you can find masterpieces and performances by not only Lithuanian artists but also very world-famous names. MO Museum boasts of having an Andy Warhol collection and even Campbell's Soup Cans! The gallery is located close to the bus stop "MO Museum", not far from the central part of the capital city. It takes a 10-minute walk to Vilnius Old Town from there. You need around one hour to explore the exhibitions, which combine all forms of contemporary art from paintings and applied art to installations, videos, photos and performances. Performances and exhibitions are best suited for adults, however, there's a small kids area where children can feel themselves freely, as painters or creators. I also was pleasantly surprised with the building of the museum. It has its own amazing inside and outside. There is a café, a play area, a reading room, and a souvenir shop. So MO Museum more looks like a creative space than an ordinary gallery. If you love contemporary or conceptual art, you should visit it. My recommendation!

Great and spacious art and performance venue with warm atmosphere. The building itself is quite interesting - playful architecture and space planning. It has great exposition of Lithuanian modern art starting from the occupation years. The collection is quite big and has some really impressive pieces of art. The staff is very friendly and helpful.

Great to see a refreshing take on abstract art, from historical photography to the capitals abstract paintings with some video history thrown in. Amazing building architecture, it really stands out. Great couple of hours spent. Don't worry if your lugging bags around there's a great place to store them. Translation app available, tours and useful information as well as a small library for all your learning needs.

At MO one can visit exhibitions, see film screenings, take part in educational activities, attend concerts and events which are tailored to all age groups. The museum is open every day (except Tuesday) from 10 am to 8 pm.

I came to check out the Lithuanian modern art scene, and happened to catch an exhibit in relation to the 700th anniversary of the city, which was a fascinating one. The audio tours via their website were great, since you can use your own phone and headphones (though they have some you can borrow). The flow of the exhibit was very nice, and there weren’t too many people. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit.

There are so much to remember.. Stories to listen .. to live it again or to get to low real historical events.. Installations are done just perfect. There are audio guidelines directly from your phone. Every point of interest tells a story (politics, culture, lifestyle) You just have to discover it yourself . And I promise, you won’t regret it ever , it’s not just about our Lithuanians culture , it’s much more, the artists are touching difficult, sometimes painful articles. For me for instance the phrase Heard- on the speakers “Museum closes in 10 mins”- was the disappointing one..

A nice museum that brings variety to the old town. The architecture of the building is astonishing, but it is a lot smaller inside than it seems. Has a cinema and a cafe inside, which are quite nice. The outer park is very cute and is a good place to spend time at in the summer

A one of a kind! This museum is the full package. The cafe is amazing with a creative and lively selection. The exhibits are small and easily done with an app that describes the pieces and the curators' thinking. I was so surprised and delighted to find something of this quality in Vilnius. Top notch quality and very patron friendly.

What a complete joke! They could have pushed more for the deconstructivism angle and make it not only about pop culture but expand it. The venue is interesting but they charged 3 Euros although I had the Vilnius pass. It's not worth it 3 Euro as it stands! The exhibits are very few, they tried to make them entertaining but failed even more in what their mission should have been, namely to present the evolution of Lithuanian identity through art after the Soviets. Sad, save your money and go somewhere else

(Translated by Google) Non-museum lighting. The paintings are scattered, reflections in a bag to watch. The ratio of price and exhibits during one exhibition is not Lithuanian. I understand that a commercial museum is nothing to hang out with ... But you can visit once. It is a pity to give 10 ⭐, but something is missing ... Although it is good that private initiatives are emerging, albeit nlb. The solution? I think we need not focus too much - in the sense that I think the problem is with the exhibition of art, not with art or space. Maybe too much interactivity that distracts, order that crumbles in space. I felt messy. But it’s a matter of “taste” apparently. To whom it is unacceptable, let it not go. Hold on !!! Kam nepriimtina tas tegu neina. Laikykites!!! 🙃

We only had 2 full days in Vilnius, and we really wanted to do things that would teach us about the city and Lithuania. The exhibition at MO Museum was perfect for this, which I did not initially expect from a contemporary art museum. Wow. The current main exhibition (Dec 2021) is a photography exhibition called 'Celebrate for Change' and shows how people have used celebrations to resist the reigning political, social and cultural structures. Informative, fascinating and emotional packed in beautiful photo collections. I can highly recommend the audio tour (tablet + headphones available). We spent about 1-2 hours here.

I didn't like the museum much .. It will depend on the exposure of the photos, which were cute at first, but they didn't thrill me as I went on! Photo exhibitions that tell a little about living in Lithuania over the years, up to the passage to Europe. However I think the price is too expensive for what it has to offer! I do not recommend his visit!

Cool museum! There are 2 floors with exhibits. Loved the Andy Warhol pieces which were an unexpected surprise. There was something going on with a school and a video that they were shooting. They were talking about a lot of pieces and I’m sad I don’t speak Lithuanian. The guide must’ve had so many interesting stories. There are in general cool art pieces. Definitely come and take a look for yourself. Student ticket was cheap 5 euro or something.

Definitely worth of visiting. Plenty of different type of arts to see. It was recommended to start from the top floor. In the first floor there is also place to eat and drink and you have possibly to sit outside.

Mo Museum is one of the most active modern art institutions in Lithuania. Everything here has an idea and a charge of creativity - starting from the architecture of the building and ending with thematic exhibitions that excite, entice, sometimes provoke, but never disappoint. And if the appearance of the building attracts fans of the architect Daniel Libeskind, the currently ongoing experiential exhibition "Vilnius Poker" takes you behind the scenes of my beloved city of Vilnius. I suggest you see and evaluate the exhibition by yourself, because as the slogan says, "Everything, absolutely everything is a dream here". The exhibition is dedicated to the 700th anniversary of the city of Vilnius and will be held until 01.24.2024

MO is a very unique place! I go there each time I’m in Vilnius and already seen there a lot of very interesting expositions! Selections of paintings or other items is pretty impressive. They represent very high, european level! They are not afraid of difficult topics and their exhibitions handle them very well! Each time I was there I was stunned by the level of Lithuanian modern art!

This is roughly based on the novel, Vilnius Poker, although you don't need to have read it to appreciate the museum. It's a commentary on the period of Russian oppression. The art was stark and heavy. I don't know the name for the style, but it's not to my taste. The museum helped me understand what the Lithuanian people experienced, so it was worthwhile. Not for young children.

Perfect place for artsy family. Depends on exhibitions but mostly there things to discover for parents and kids. Good cafe place and modern art kind of shop. Small but can spend hours. Very nicely and clever arranged. Vilnius poker is more for Lithuanian grown-ups, trolleybus moustache - mainly for smaller kids.

Actually, it was the first contemporary art exhibition I have truly liked. The collection tells a super well-done storytelling, the arts are really impressive and the audio guide is amazing. My visit to the MO Museum in Vilnius was a journey through a world of contemporary art that left me thoroughly impressed. The museum's architecture is a masterpiece in itself, offering a modern and inviting space. Inside, the exhibitions were thoughtfully curated, showcasing a wide range of works from both local and international artists. The interactive displays and educational programs were particularly engaging, making art accessible to visitors of all ages. The staff was knowledgeable and friendly, adding to the overall positive experience. The museum also featured a cozy cafe, perfect for a relaxing break between the exhibits. Located in the heart of Vilnius, the MO Museum is a cultural gem that provides insight into the vibrant art scene of the city and is a must-visit for art enthusiasts and casual visitors alike.

Great contemporary art museum. "Why Is It Hard to Love?" by Saskia Boddeke and Peter Greenaway was one of the most memorable and moving exhibitions, in any museum, anywhere, ever.

  • 5/5 Netia I. 3 years ago on Google
This museum is small but impressive. While we visited there were two exhibits, one which was "meh", and one which was one of the best exhibits I have ever seen. The exhibits mixed sculpture, paintings, video, sound, lightening effects, and more to create an immersive experience that makes you really feel the pieces. I loved it, and would say this is a must visit while in Vilnius!

Staff is kind and helping. They also offer online audio guides, earphones (regular, usb-c and iPhone plugs) as well as tablets with audio guides. The only niusance that comes to my mind was the extremely bright light in the elevator (or so it felt after spending an hour in the gloomy exhibition space - bright light reminded me a scene from the Bruce Almighty movie).

I liked it, because all the exhibits corresponded very much to the life of those times, I listened to all the stories with headphones, so there was no need to read descriptions. There were a lot of young people with young children. The friend didn't like it because there were too few exhibits compared to the previous visit. Real truth, because there is still a lot of free space for other exhibits. You can tell the museum looks amazing and very promising right from the outside. Unfortunately, they don't have a permanent collection and are currently in the process of setting up a new exhibition that opens on September 4th 2021. If you are visiting the museum before September 4th and don't have small kids, take the clue from the person at the cash register: instead of paying 4€ to see a children's playground (pictures included), better spend it on a coffee at a restaurant that also has a tiny art collection (picture included)

Interesting museum, they had an exhibition about roma people which I found very interesting. The modern art within the museum was a hit or miss, some pieces were very nice and complex, while some pieces could barely be called art (there was a slide displayed as art for example). All on all, would recommend trying this place out, although the temporary exhibition definitely took it from a 3 to a 4 star.

The Building was very fancy and cool to watch. They had a few sculpturs outside and some very cool stairs inside. Tho, I was a bit dissapointed because I had expected a few more modern art inside the building. They did had a few, but it was more paintings than "Modern Art" :P

Vilnius poker is superb exhibition. We enjoyed it a lot and I am just sorry the book has not been translated to Czech language. I will read it in English, because exhibition made huge impression to me

A nice museum of modern Lithuanian art with compact exhibitions and stunning architecture. Visit took 1-1,5 hours. Small museum shop with stylish souvenirs.

A small museum of modern art with a collection of mostly Soviet and post-soviet artists, with a couple of Warhols as the big attraction. They offer a free audioguide, I recommend to take it, because without it you will be done within 30 minutes. The building itself is a more interesting work of art with skewed floors and modern architecture.

A rather small but really nice modern art museum with diverse pieces of art. It took us about two hours to explore both halls. Worth visiting!

Sehr modernes Museum.
