On 16 February 1918, a group of brilliant people made history here - they have signed a declaration of independence of Lithuania. By this time, Lithuania territory had been occupied by the Russian empire for around 120 years. So you might imagine what a miracle it was to restore the independent Lithuanian Republic after 120 years of russification and oppression. On 16 February every year, there's now a celebration at this place. Currently, a recently discovered original act of independence is being exhibited here. Best time to visit is now!

I very much recommend this to foreigners although the topic is quite niche as it deals with very specific topics about the history of the country. The curation is exemplary and there are plenty of descriptions available in English, though, of course, most of it is in Lithuanian. They have an elevator leading through the different floors and the staff is very polite and welcoming. I was the only one visiting at the time, this is not such a popular place but it should be more well known

This is an interesting museum. It is worth visiting if you are staying in Vilnius longer than a couple of days, although it should not be a priority if you are in Vilnius only for a couple of days. Displays, mainly of photos and documents, concern Lithuania's complicated evolution towards independence. February 16, 1918 is the the first date for declaring independence. February 16 is a national holiday in Lithuania. Elevator to second floor, and then you walk up to another, third floor. 4 Euros entry fee.

Great place to visit and learn little history of how Lithuanian independence was reinstated. If you hurry you may be able to see the actual act with signatories signatures.

(Translated by Google) A very interesting museum about the history of Lithuania. It was here that the act on the restoration of the independent Lithuanian state was signed on February 16, 1918. There are many historical documents, photographs and other exhibits that tell about the history of Lithuania from the end of the 19th century to the middle of the 20th century. Recommend!

My friends wanted to go here. The tour the guide gave was nice, but other than that it was really boring. It's okay if you like history I guess.

Supposedly one of the most important building in the country as it witnessed the new chapter of the future. More attention should be given.
