The building is a fragment of the Radziwill palace. One room and part of another is devoted to this family who were once so dominant in central Europe. The room with the 164 "portraits" is interesting but they are charactatures and bear no resemblance to the real people. The biographical detail though is gold to historians. A lot of information in Lithuanian and some in English. I am not complaining, it is their country but I felt that this part of the visit could have been more rewarding. The museum has visiting exhibitions which are really good, this spring it was on classical landscape etchings and engravings. Really excellent so worth visiting as you may be very pleasantly surprised. The remaining art collection is a mixed bag with religious art and classical art, not my taste. Some good sculptures though in corners. Overall worth a visit.

Really liked newly renovated and opened part of the palace with classical paintings! It is so cozy, well organised and paintings just look gorgeous in there! Modern exhibition in the old part maybe was not for my taste, I have seen soviet reality, and don't like it in the art as well as in reality, it's soulless.

What a wonderful museum. Right in the centre of Vilnius. Beautiful building well set up as a museum. I have seen 2 shows there and they were both outstanding. Check this out for sure.

Strange woman that worked here followed us for 10 minutes at every hall, then said that we must see the tears on the picture... They don't accept national student cards, only ISIC, but other museums from the same organization do. Not hospitality. The collection is pretty big, but condition of interiors and lighting are very poor. No masterpieces of classic art. No famous authors.

Once posh palace by one of the very famous Radvila (Radziwill) now partly destroyed, partly abandoned building. In one of the flangs a newly refurbished museum is conquering spaces and interestingly combines 17th century, Soviet era and modern white hall.

Outstanding art museum with many extraordinary works by some very well-known Western European artists (Meindert Hobbema, see detail) and many less well-known but equally excellent contemporaries. Two highlights during my July 2023 visit: protest art of the Soviet period (see the amazing panel by Ilya Kabakov) and masterpieces from the Lviv National Art Gallery, temporarily here for safety from the war and beautifully displayed (see panorama).

When we visited it the museum had three expositions. 2 exhibitions of contemporary art and one - classical painting. The lattest was provided in the new restored wing of the palace. I liked it the most, as well as the result of the restoration. I do not recommend to visit with children of preschool age

I have never understood the discord over the terms Central Europe and Eastern Europe. In the Central Europe you can go to a museum and watch art as a tourist, in the Eastern Europe you must go to some bloody ”museum of illusions” or similar crime against humanity. I prefer this watching art option.

Nice place, with propably an nteresting exhibitions - but I do not get it, why such an instution ignore international guests. There is no lingua franca - English, German, French. Lady in the enterance was very kind, but before asking me to donate just after crossing the enterance - that would be very nice to hear, I would not be able to understand big part of the show - about the history of Ukraine.

Do not go to this museum. The most sad and uninteresting museum in the world. It seems that the exhibition consists of pictures that were a pity to throw out. Do not waste your time.
