Interesting exposition. Among authentic items of cinematography you can find interactive exhibits about famous lithuanian artists. More interesting for local people who know a bit more about ltihuanian culture, but also a nice place to spend an hour for travelers.

This is a pace for those who is interested in local animation and music history. So, basically, for adults as lots of Lithuanian adults are grown with this and it is becoming part of our history. There is no didecated parking here, so just leave car in Vokieciu street or somewhere around - old town - its going to be a bit challenging. Worth to check - till now last weekend in month part of all museum in Vilnius have free access (no ticket is needed). There are two floors: ground floor - animation history, second one - music history. Will spend there around 1 hour. Enjoy

Most of the exhibition halls were closed for the season (and thank you to the Museum staff for their tolerance with my attempt to access closed rooms through my misunderstanding!) There was a 7 room exhibition showing selections of clips of films from the 60's, 80's, 2000's and current and each room was themed differently. I found it fascinating and a real insight to life under occupation. The container 'cinema' in the grounds has more film and lots of posters and is well worth climbing into. I was charmed by the cloakroom arrangements and being given a proper solid brass token in exchange for my bag/coat! I would love to go back in full season and see more exhibitions here - a very interesting few hours.

(Translated by Google) As the museum is devoted to theater, music and cinema, none of these matters a great deal of attention, and the exhibits are quite scattered, such as the passage from the Hamlet Hall to the Baroque Hall. Still, there are interesting exhibits.

On September 14, 2019 Japan Embassy in Vilnius held Event with banner "Unity in Diversity Tokyo 2020". Cheerful and enthusiastic crowd tried to carry portable shrine "mikoshy". It occurs not an easy task.

(Translated by Google) It is a good museum, the exposition is wide enough to get acquainted with the history of Lithuanian cinema and theater, but unfortunately part of the exposition has been closed and repairs are under way. Very nice and friendly staff, creates a good atmosphere.

(Translated by Google) The Theater Museum was founded in 1926. At the initiative of Kaunas Vytautas Magnus University, B. Sruoga and V. Krėvė-Mickevičius. 1936 was transferred to the State Theater (actor of this theater Stasys Gray was appointed director). During the war, the museum’s exhibits were scattered. Only in 1946 The Lithuanian Theater Society, founded in 2006, was concerned about the fate of the museum's exhibits. Restoration work lasted until 1957. Since then, there has been a department of the Museum of the Lithuanian Theater Society (Actors' House) (organized by pedagogue Stasys Sabalis, later taken over by philologist Gražina Aleksienė). 1964 this department, called the Theater and Music Museum, was transferred to the Lithuanian Art Museum. It operated until 1992. in the former premises of Umiastovskis Palace, Trakų str. 2, where in 1965. the first exhibition was held. 1992 The department of the Lithuanian Art Museum became a separate Lithuanian Theater, Music and Film Museum (head - musicologist Dr. Jonas Bruveris, since 1997 - theatrologist Dr. Aleksandras Guobys, since 2002 - Regina Lopienė). 1996 the museum moved to the reconstructed Little Radvilas Palace in Vilnius. 1992 m. Lietuvos dailės muziejaus padalinys tapo atskiru Lietuvos teatro, muzikos ir kino muziejumi (vadovas - muzikologas dr. doc. Jonas Bruveris, nuo 1997 m. - teatrologas dr. doc. Aleksandras Guobys, nuo 2002 m. - Regina Lopienė). 1996 m. muziejus persikėlė į rekonstruotus Mažuosius Radvilų rūmus Vilniuje.
