Pepe’s Cafe we found out was one of the eldest (and oldest!) eateries in Key West. Their happy hour special is every day from 4-6PM and the deal can’t be beat. It’s 1/2 off oysters (which already are $1.75 each which is a bargain anyways) which were larger than my palm! Additionally, there were also happy hour specials for an assortment of other fresh seafood like peel-and-eat Key West Pink shrimp (which is indigenous to the Keys and has a sweeter taste than normal shrimp), stone crab claws, conch, etc. Margaritas are also $6 on happy hour. The staff was extremely friendly, and Penelope, our server) even brought me a side of my own simple syrup for my skinny margarita just in case it was too tart. It’s a no-frills spot, but has that relaxed beach-vibe atmosphere that’s away from the craziness of Duval Street.

Came here because of the great reviews, but unfortunately Our meal at Pepe's did not live up to it's reputation. We ordered stone crab appetizer, a fish entree, and 2 raw oysters. The raw oysters were good. The rest was not good, not terrible, but definitely not worth what we paid for it. Dry, firm fish, bland crab, asparagus barely cooked. We wanted to love this place, but it just wasn't worth it. The best reviews seem to be for steak and breakfast, so perhaps this is Pepe's strong suit. However, it is definitely not fish/crab.

Pepe’s is one of our favorite spots in Key West for breakfast/brunch. We’ve never been for dinner, but I’m sure that’s just as good. The atmosphere is perfect and the food is amazing. They have homemade hot sauces and always have amazing specials. They had a key lime “bread of the day” when we went that was unreal. I also bought a bottle of their sweet mango hot sauce which I HIGHLY recommend trying. Pepe’s encompasses Key West in so many ways and it’s a can’t-miss spot.

The food here is consistently good. Have been visiting Key West for many years and this place is one of our favorites for breakfast. Just visited and very pleased with their COVID precautions. Masks required and constant cleaning by the staff. Would definitely recommend. Drink today was strawberry screwdrivers. Really good.

So many of the places in Key West look old and weathered, but this one truly is! Been in business for a long time. We had the blackened mahi mahi and it was fabulous. Coconut cream pie and key lime pie were both good.

You hear meatloaf you think of a nice slice of meatloaf on sandwich bread. Not a tiny piece on a bun. Cole slaw and macaroni salad both heavy on the onions. For the price, there are better places. PS - I hate paying so much for a little bitty 8 oz bottle of Coke. Free refills or a bottle that last through your meal.
