(Translated by Google) We found out about him by chance, we immediately decided that we would go, tk. such a museum format is rare. A very interesting exposition. I liked the accompanying inscriptions that give an idea of the exhibits of the museum. It amazes with its variety of images of the Devil / Devil. We recommend to visit !!! Impressed !!!

three floors and also an exhibition of paintings is present 5 € adult ticket 🎟 then be sure to visit the museum of devils! This is a unique place! Devils from all over the world are gathered there! It is very interesting! The kids will love it! Adults will not remain indifferent either!

A very unique museum! Where else have you seen a collection of devils 😈 ? Both adults and kids enjoy it. Set your expectations right though - it is not too big and definitely could be prepared better. However, there are some interesting stories to learn. Download the app “Velnių Muziejus” there is a free audio guide that tells you the stories while you meet devils eye to eye! The second part of the museum is home 🏡 and the studio of the author and painter Žmuidzinavičius. Great example of a rich family home of the interwar period.

For some reason I was expecting there to be more history on the different interpretations of the devil through time and in different countries. Really all it was is someone's private (and not very diverse) collection of figurines and statues, etc. I am glad I went but also was very relieved it's only 5€ after seeing the exhibition. You also get to see the art gallery that is in the same building which was alright

Simply stunning and unique There are three floors of unique stories, combines with a collection of devil effigies, this is one of the few museums that I dare say is in a class of it's own The first floor represents the artist and the collection he gathered over time, along side a separate section of the museum that is dedicated to his work and goes into further detail about him The second floor was about the people of Lithuania donating their crafts to the museum with a sprinkling of stories around witches, humans and animal interactions with the devil The third floor contains lore about the devil from different countries and the differences between one countrie's depiction of the devil and another

Took a field trip here with a group of friends. We were satisfied with the experience overall. It's something different to see. The admissions were about five Euros. The museum is broken up into three floors, with an adjacent art gallery. I was expecting historical demonic pieces from ancient civilizations or medieval Europe. The exhibits are mainly creations from different artists, with each piece being significant to its place of origin (different countries have different views on what the devil looks like). The exhibits aren't purely all demonic looking, you get plenty of ghouls and witches and stuff like that. But, it wasn't disappointing or anything, we still enjoyed it! The third/top floor is where you get more pieces from different countries. I didn't feel creeped out at all, I usually find stuff like this kind of cool. It's something different to experience if you're in Kaunas. The tickets aren't expensive, so if you have time to kill, I recommend checking this place out! I bought a little souvenir from the gift shop. I keep it in my china with the rest of my collectibles (see last picture).

Fun to visit. The Žmuidzinavičius Museum, better known as the Devils' Museum (Lithuanian: Velnių muziejus), is dedicated to collecting and exhibiting sculptures and carvings of devils from all over the world. The collection was started by the artist Antanas Žmuidzinavičius and consisted of 260 items at his death in 1966; donations had already expanded the collection to 3,000 items in 2009. The devils come from all over the world and come in all shapes and materials. The most famous statue shows Hitler and Stalin as devils.

Founded in 1966, the Žmuidzinavičius, or Devil’s Museum, collects and displays carvings of devils from around the globe. When it opened, it contained just 260 sculptures. Visitors left their own devils, and by 2009, the collection held 3000 objects. The exhibits range from wood to stone and ceramic although some of the items are also masks. They also contain pebbles whose markings resemble the devil. Some of the simple statues express both folk myths and political ideologies. A famous sculpture shows Hitler and Stalin dancing as devils across human bones. Maybe you have a devil stone you can leave behind if you visit…

The Devil's museum is not large. It is however a very interesting experience. Three floors of different depictions of the devil from throughout history. That's right up my alley. It's also a good place to take your kids since it is a very short exhibition. While I did get tired, that was because of a hangover and I doubt it's an experience your kids are going to get cranky about. I only wish they had more on my home country Denmark. All in all, it was worth the money and the time. Would recommend.

Allegedly the only devil museum in the world. Huge collection of over 3000 devil artefacts from all over the world. Great way to learn beliefs and folklore of our ancestors. Definitely worth visiting.

Liked a lot the museum. It was fascinating to see how creative people can be with this devil theme. And written info was interesting. Also was surprised by collection initiators' personal rooms and art exhibition. Liked his paintings. Really beautiful.

Very unique museum, quirky and fun, not at all scary! You can see the devil portrayed in a myriad of shapes, mediums and artifacts. Well displayed and explained, with effective lighting it's worth a visit.

Promoted as the only devil museum in the world and can clearly see why!! 3 entire floors of never ending text, It's like a real life journey through hell. Every display case is an attempt to put you to sleep, assuming this is to allow the devil to infiltrate your subconscious. Strongly recommend, not for the faith hearted.

An interesting collection of devils, but my favorite part was the artist’s studio. I also loved the Lithuanian stories about devils that accompanied the exhibition.

Super nice museum with fabulously nice staff. It is worth doing the tour with the audio guide tablet, because every exhibit here is integrated into a fine storytelling. In our society, the devil has been more or less erased and no one remembers his actual abilities beyond "being evil", so such exhibitions are particularly unique and worth seeing!

  • 5/5 Claudiu 4 years ago on Google
It's not the most informative museum I've been to, also curation is a bit lacking as only a few of the exhibits are explained. However, these little devils have the ability to fascinate, I had to refrain myself from taking too many pictures, I wanted to shoot them all. It's 5 Euro to visit but given how fun it is, the price albeit a bit steep for just three rooms seems fair. There's also a paintings exhibition of the man who started the collection

This is a must visit museum if you're ever in Kaunas. It is a strong remainder of the roots of Lithuanian people and their beliefs. I personally feel that the Christian missionaries termed these beliefs as 'Paganism' just to spread their message deeply. Some of the beliefs actually make sense. Anyways, the statues/masks are great and a lot of information is given in English for easier understanding. Enjoy 3 floors' worth of entertaining devil information !!

Definity not bad collection of Devil's figures, mini-sculptures, mask, etc. The number – over 3000 – is impressing. But the presentation quite dull. Most of exponats deserve better lighting, beter background colours, better ventilation in premises. Also, those glass display cases making photografies mor difficult and less interesting (because of reflections). The best room of museum is on the last floor, where international deamons are collected. In summary, the Soviet spirit of the building made more fear then collection itself

An extensive collection of (mostly) contemporary devil sculptures. The museum is very hot on hot days. Sculptures are cool, but i had hoped for a little in depth view of the topic and what the devil meant throuhout the history

Three floors of the weird and wacky world of the occult. Worth a visit here, but not if you have younger kids with you as it’s a bit creepy and scary here.

  • 4/5 Brisippus 2 years ago on Google
Interesting place, though not exactly what I was expecting. It’s more of an exhibition of the collector and their personal collection than one focused on devil lore, but still interesting and worth a trip. The museum also includes exhibits of the collector’s work space, home, paintings, and personal history. Seemed to be a very intelligent and quirky fellow.

When I heard an ambitious name such as the Devil's Museum, I expected to see historical objects belonging to the concept of the devil in various cultures. Later, when I learned that the contents of the museum were the collection of an artist, I thought that I would see an artistic exhibition. However, this museum has managed to fail in both areas in my eyes. Yes, you can find depictions of demons from various cultures in this museum. However, I must clearly state that these objects are not historical artifacts, and the quality of artistic work is controversial. I was disappointed to learn that even the oldest of the works in the museum belong to the 20th century and that many of them were gifts to the owner of the collection by his friends. The only part I enjoyed visiting was the workshop of the collector who is a painter.

You should visit Devil's museum if you're in Kaunas. One of the most popular points of interest. The museum is located close to Nacionalinis Mikalojaus Konstantino Čiurlionio dailės muziejus and Vytauto Didžiojo karo muziejus, not far from Vytauto Didžiojo universitetas. It is a good place for enjoying teenagers and could be a bit boring for adults. You need one hour and more to explore the exhibitions because there are many interesting and even mysterious sculptures of the devil, installations and paintings. You can use an audio guide and listen to amazing stories. Nice collection of devil's figures from all the world) I was surprised that there's a small art gallery without any devil's images. It can be helpful for someone who doesn't interested in other exhibitions.
