Given
enough
time,
every
traveller
to
Lithuania
should
visit
the
Curonian
Spit
and
Palanga.
The
Spit
is
accessed
by
ferry,
a
quick
10min
crossing
from
Klaipeda.
The
best
way
to
get
around
on
the
Spit
is
by
hiring
a
bike
nearby
to
the
ferry
departure
point
in
Klaipeda,
then
taking
your
bike
on
the
ferry.
The
bike
is
cheap
to
hire,
and
the
ferry
is
cheap,
cash
is
easier,
especially
for
the
ferry.
The
ferry
costs
€1
per
person
RETURN,
yes,
that
is
correct,
including
bikes.
The
bike
ride
to
Nida
is
about
54km,
and
it's
predominantly
very
flat,
and
a
really
really
lovely
day.
It's
a
bitumen
track
all
the
way,
and
only
rarely
does
one
need
to
go
on
or
cross
a
public
road.
Crossing
the
road
with
a
bike
should
be
done
on
foot,
especially
where
the
crossing
is
marked
with
white
lines.
It
is
possible
to
take
a
wrong
turn,
we
did
once,
but
doesn't
matter.
From
side
for
side
across
The
Spit
it's
only
1-2km.
Nida
is
lovely,
and
one
can
get
water
along
the
way.
There
are
at
least
2
trackside
mobile
stops,
and
3
villages
prior
to
Nida.
I've
been
riding
since
age
6,
ie
60yrs,
and
twice
a
week
ride
100kms
in
Melbourne.
The
Curonian
Spit
ride
is
a
must
do
and
very
easy
for
the
family.
Any
kid
older
than
9
no
problem.
Allow
3
to
4hrs
actual
easy
riding
time.
