(Original) Labai patarčiau būnant vilniuje su vaikais čia užsukti bet su gidu geriau nes kai kurie aparatai gali būti nesuprantami.

This is a MUST for a technical soul ! Not only you learn about history of energy and technology in Vilnius/Lithuania, but moreover you can learn about many physical principles with hands on experiment. Very much recommended for school kids and young adults. Everyone has something to learn though !

(Translated by Google) Very interesting and authentic museum. Episodically, it reminded me of the "old days" of institutions and the feeling of home. Children also have activities, attractions that can explain elementary scientific or physical phenomena. After a while we will repeat.

Wonderful museum for all ages. Very close to Old Town and right across the river. This is the original building that supplied power to Vilnius. Most all of the original boilers and machinery are still here and beautifully preserved and presented. In addtion the Technology part of the museum displays "made in Vilnius" products. There is even a mock-up of a soviet times apartment that is quite interesting. There also stuff here for fans of Chernobyl. Check it out!

One of the best museums among the most known museums which probably does not managed to be included in the so called “must visits of Vilnius” but probably should have been. Placed in the original location of the first electrical power plant of Vilnius, offers dozens of marvelous exhibits in its 4 floors stages but also many wonderful games for “children” of all ages that show and teach various technological and science principles. Make yourself a favor and visit it since it’s located very near to the National museum, just opposite to the national library.

A very interesting museum located where an old power plant used to be. You can see the power plant at all the levels it used to be. You can download an English audio guide to listen to, there is open wi-fi available and some very interesting exhibitions. Also funny science games upstairs, mostly for children, but we tested them all. A small souvenir shop, excellent english-speaking friendly staff.

3€ well worth, nice visit. Building was a old electric factory, you can still see the massive boiler room, and the turbines. Upstairs there some info about industry in Vilnius in the past and also an interactive area with some experiments ideal for children and also interesting for not so children ;) Staff in the door give some info about what you will see around.

This is the best museum I ever seen. So many cool stuff is in here!!! From the mirrors exposition to the first book press and... a slide? Yes, the is a slide there and the whole floor is basically made for children. Plus there was a scientinst, who showed us science tricks, like exploded a balloon with air, made elephant toothpaste, and etc. I as a teenager really liked this place and I want you to visit it.

Strong 5 stars if you are or have high-school aged kids, the new basement level participatory exhibition is excellent and shows how EU funds should be put to the right use. Simple, straightforward explanations of forces and mechanisms heavily featured in your HS physics textbook. One star minus for the lacking (and often absent) explanations on the ground floor exhibit, as well as poor directional and utility signs. For a ticket price north of €10, these should also be paid attention to.

It is full of technical and not that technical stuff. It is useful for those who want to gain some knowlege, eager to know how things work. But also it has some practical things to try mostly for kids, but was interesting and for adults. I also liked the soviet stuff, which is nostalgious for 80s kids. We only came when quite a lot of stuff did not work, some due to renovation, some just needed fixing. Also some exhibits need english explanation for tourists. Also we could have been told that there is an audio guide to download to mobile phone and listen to it (free). Other than that - it is worth visiting.

Love it! This miseum surprised us in every floor! The top floor has huge slide for the kids and numerous exhibits where they can play and created their own experiments. It even tells you what to do and what to see. They also have 30min of experiment show where kids can even lit a fire on their palm 😄 and play with lightening. How cool is that!

This is a very interesting and unique museum that both adults and children can learn from. At the beginning, I went to see the “electric concert” which was booked for 1pm, I came around two minutes before 1 only to find out that it started a while ago. This is not really fair as I was not late, and they started earlier than it was said and paid for. The lady was nice enough to demonstrate the show all over again for us as it was an error on their part. As for the museum itself, it took about two hours and a bit to get through all five floors. You must work your way down from the top. At the very top you get a view of the whole city on the rooftop, there’s a lot of interactive games that I found the most entertaining, as you get to have fun and learn about energy at the same time! All of the activities are very creative and nothing like I’ve seen before. There’s a lot of information on every floor and I think it is unlikely that anyone reads all of the facts about energy as it can get quite tiring. It is a good way to learn and pass time. I recommend it to people from the ages 12 and up?

Fantastic museum with a good, free audio guide. The museum was quite interactive, and in particular, I enjoyed the simulator! The museum has a section where children (and adults) can explore physics and math (yes, math!).

Good museum, but has a lot of potential but has a couple of flaws; it lacks catering to English speakers, the order of the museum is not very clear and we didn’t get to see the main event of the exposition with the 2 Tesla coils which was a little disappointing. I’m not sure if you have to be there at a certain time or not. It wasn’t the most clear museum but it was certainly nice, new, clean and very good for kids and entertaining for adults as well. Would recommend to any fellow science nerd.

This felt more like a themed kids playground than a museum. If you're an adult without kids, I would advise not to come here. If you do want to go - try visiting on a workday, maybe you'll have better luck.

Absolutely awesome place and I'm saying it from the perspective of a person who has been in many similar places in few countries. I feel it was worth seeing, especially with transformation hall. Tesla show was very interesting. The whole transformation hall has a very smart system encouraging visitors to try everything. Visitors have cards to collect points for finishing experiments. I felt it made us truly dig in everything instead of just noticing: "oh, it works like this - let's skip to the next one" without paying enough attention to what it really wanted to teach us. The place itself has a nice history visible in old installations, which make a really nice atmosphere. We all enjoyed it a lot.

Absolutely amazing! Highly recommended! all the interactive experiments were super interesting, even though they were more for kids I would say. Old engines and electric power plant simulator were worth it! Also, don't forget to have some fun and slide down the tube, it shows how fast you are going!!!

An interesting museum to visit. However, it’d be only in the 2nd or 3rd “to visit” lists of Vilnius. This museum has bigger potential, and I hope the management would find the creative ways to realize all of its potential. Simple rant of mine about a missed opportunity: in the Leonardo da Vinci exhibit - put the pulley installation near/under the modern pulley system that is in the museum hall (check my pics). Unfortunately there are many such simple improvements that’d make the museum 5/5!

A fun place full of interactive tools or presentations. There were a lot of kids playing around and learning new things. They provided a lot of information both in Lithuanian and English. There were 3 exhibitions with different tickets. And the rooftop has an amazing view that you don't wanna miss that!

  • 5/5 tomas j. 1 year ago on Google
A new exposition is open in the basement of the museum, and is focused on the creation and use of electricity, you can run, use a stationary bike to generate the energy and collect "quants" and then exchange them for a small reflector. There are some Tesla coils, 2 big ones and 1 small one. Small one can be operated by anyone, and the big ones create a show, and a portion of it you can see in my video.

Was pretty nice, about 2/3rd of the exhibits had English translations which was helpful. The tesla demonstration was cool to watch even though we didn't understand a word. The location is just absolutely amazing even when there isn't a specific exhibition to look at the building itself is very interesting too explore. It is kind of confusing that you have to buy separate tickets for the diffent parts of the museum and that there isn't a designated "all of it" option, but that's just nitpicking.

  • 5/5 Iris B. 2 years ago on Google
It was a really nice experience :) would definitely recommend it. It has fascinating experiments for adults as well as for kids although if you don’t have any you can still enjoy it and get lost for hours. Is a must see if Vilnius

Waste of time. Afrer waiting in line for a Da Vinci show outside on a free entrance day, we were faced with a demand to buy a tickets. but since there were too many peaple, we were asked to come back in half an hour.. which would be fine. But then asked can we buy a ticked and then come back to enter, we were said sorry, live queue. So pay money and waste time with no guaranties. Though for other exhibitions ypu cam actually buy a ticket to a time slot. Really progressive and respectuful

Beautiful museum, bigger than it looks from the outside. In the lower étages there are interactive exhibitions that have a modern look to them. There is practically a whole etage for kids. The little coffee shop at the entrance is neat, definitly a recommendation to go here.

Very nice museum. At first the impression is that it is plain and boring...but then as you go further and further and you interact then you end up spending 3 hours before you even realize it. And workshops for the children! And if you find it indeed boring, just go on top floor and use the slider for fun.

Very nice pkace to visit with children. On the top floor child can perform various physics experiments that are interesting even for 4year-aged. My child also enjoyed exposition of historic "rooms": kitchen, sitting room. In ground floor cosmic mirror room (very small, low ceiling) can be found. All our family enjoyed this museum. NB. Only children aged 6 or more can use the slide between two top floors.

amazing museum, but chaos at the counter. apparrently, everything is organized around tours in Lithuanian, and we had to wait for 1 h to join the next tour, but in the end we got to know that it is also possible not to do the tour.. basically, confusing to understand how it works. but the exposition is huge and impressive. worth to try to get in :)
