You must visit this museum 💯 when you're in Lithuania) It is a trip not only to a pretty rich military history, but also to the formation of Statehood and ages of independence struggle of Lithuanian people. The current expositions amaze visitors not only with unique installations, but also with the grand scale of the museum. There are a real airplane inside, huge guns and sculptures of knights in armor and helmet. You can find a lot of interesting and a quite strange exhibits. I definitely recommend this museum. It would be interesting to visit both kids and adults.

It's ok for the price but it's poorly organized without logical connection and, unfortunately, not in chronological order. There are descriptions in English but most of the curation feels didn't receive any updates since the fall of Communism The highlight for me was the collection of weapons from the 17th to the 19th century.

Absolutely loved it. Such a warm welcome by staff lady, she was so good, played games with our kids, told us some history. Never seen this like this at museum when was a kid. It was good to go back, well worth the visit. Museum is well looked after. Big selection of guns and other stuff. My kids loved it so much.

A beautiful "soviet" building boasting a wonderful courtyard filled with statues and cannons from Lithuanias historical past. The museum itself spans across a few years in no chronological order but is informative in both Lithuanian and English. It has some wonderful artwork, armour and weaponry as well as a few vehicle's. Very cheap costing only €2 for an adult but much cheaper for children and senior citizens. Fairly short experience but worth an hour or two of your time. Perfect for a rainy day.

Overview of Lithuanian war history. Museum exhibition covers history from ancient till modern time. There are a lot of different technique, weapons, installations, models and clothes. Some activities and workshop for children. Affordable ticket prices even for whole family.

(Translated by Google) The Fortress VI of the Kaunas Fortress recently opened the Vytautas the Great War Museum's Military Equipment Exposition, which is definitely worth seeing ... It is the only exposition in Lithuania that shows such a large number of exhibits are planned). The guide tells in a very interesting and detailed way about almost every exhibit there. Some of the exhibits, whose doors are open, can also be seen from the inside, the little ones take the longest time inside the radar P-40 by connecting all sorts of buttons and turning various handles, the tanks attract the attention of parents. You can see ships, armored vehicles, planes, tanks, radars, various military weapons and specialized and simple military transport (I attach photos, it is likely that there will be only a lot of exhibits). The price is really low, and even on the last Sunday of the month (museum day) even for free, so I recommend a visit (my son and I plan to visit again).

€5 entry what a place. So incredibly interesting could spend all day in it. Well curated well maintained clean and such a great place. Modern and historical exhibits and some very poignant pieces. There were a number of school children visiting when i was there and i cannot stress how very well behaved and respectful they were.

Great museum with plenty of exhibits. Although I had a grasp of some of the problems faced by Lithuania over the last 80 years or so the museum showed the struggles faced by the national for centuries. Well worth a visit if you are a history nerd!

The exhibition is great, really loved the battle dioramas with the commentary. And the current exhibition about the Baltic horse burials was incredibly interesting. Will definitely visit again.

  • 5/5 Mantas B. 1 year ago on Google
It was an interesting visit with an 8-year-old son. Audio guide turned the visit into an interesting game. One shouldn't imagine the war is all about tanks and bombs - the museum covers Lithuanian fights for independence from the stone age through medieval to modern days. There was also a dedicated exhibition for the war in Ukraine. Lastly, this museum is a place to see the wreckage of the famous Lituanica airplane.

  • 5/5 Batu 1 year ago on Google
A place full of history about Lithuanian wars. You get to see all the weapons that were used in real battles from any time of the history. And the most amazing thing is, you get to learn the names of the soldiers that had these weapons. Also the armors, helmets and flak vests. Some of them damaged by swords spears or bullets. If you are ever in Kaunas this is the place you definitely should see.

Nice museum with mostly traditional static exhibits, but also some interaction. Unfortunately, there was very little material in English, mostly confined to info boards on the walls.

Very interesting building and great museum. Going up the clock tower is fun and gives you a great view across the city

  • 5/5 m s. 9 months ago on Google
Great place to see all of the weapons used from the early 12th century up until WW2. History of defense developments is very accurately described. The museum also holds what remains of Darius and Gyrenas plane, first Lithuanian pilots to make trans Atlantic flight, which according to some historians, plane was shot down by German army. It's definitely worth the visit if you happened to be a war historian.

For the price of entry you can not complain it is very low 2 euros only and you get a free media guide. there is enough to see. I would recommend this more as a place to quickly pop into if you have some spare time but not to go out of your way to go too

Probably the best and most interesting museum I have ever visited. It has everything - from ancient weapons to today's military uniforms. The museum is also quite big with a lot of great things to see. The entrance price is also very good. Oh and I loved the giant lions in front of the museum.
