Awesome property and great service at the outdoor patio. The massage at the spa was below average. They converted the guest room into a spa and I paid a lot of $$ for that room service, wasted my time and money !! ☹️ When i asked the front desk to convert some US$ to pesos for my taxi ride, they refused as I wasn’t staying there. No consideration and respect for tourists, i still gave them business and that is unacceptable.

I am very disappointed with this hotel. It claims to be a five-star hotel, but it does not live up to its reputation. The website does not mention that they are undergoing renovations, which are noisy and inconvenient. The customer service is terrible and the hotel room lacks basic amenities. I would not recommend staying there or wasting your money. There are many four-star hotels in Santiago that are much better. This hotel is definitely not worth five stars.

This is not a 5 star hotel. While the lobby is quite nice and the rooms are decent, we found a few things that would be unacceptable for most 5 star hotels during our stay. The room was unpleasantly warm, especially at night. Upon our call to the guest service, maintenance people showed and opened up part of the ceiling in the bathroom area where the AC system was located. We left the room and didn’t come back until late at night. To our surprise, we found that the ventilation filters were cleaned right in the only sink leaving a layer of dust there that no one cared to clean. The vanity and floor in the bathroom and hallway were covered with it too. I had to clean it myself to make sure we could actually use the bathroom as it was already well into the night. Next day before checkout, we stopped by the reception and talked to the manager, who thanked us for the feedback and said there was some sort of confusion. He told us the cleaning crew manager would follow up with an email. We got an email from the manager shortly after thanking us for the feedback and apologizing. No one asked if the room still needed to be cleaned though or if there was anything they could do. In addition, we found the service at the pool was slow and the food at the restaurant, except for breakfast, was just ok (though the restaurants staff was great).

The hard and soft product of this property is truly hard to beat. It has the largest footprint of any hotel in Santiago, and it is impressive to behold, both outside and in. They simply don't build these types of hotels anymore. Apart from the beautiful infrastructure, the service and attention I received was amongst the best, and my experiences in Asia at similar properties, where these standards are more common, is quite extensive. No matter where I wandered, I was enthusiastically greeted by name and engaged in conversation. I was also contacted by guest services, through WhatsApp, to offer any additional services or requirements. I really felt pampered and appreciated. The rooms were beautifully decorated and commodious. Every detail had been well thought out. Everything worked as intended, and the furnishings were in perfect condition. I had occasion to try all the F&B outlets, and I was favorably impressed with both the selection, quality, presentation and portion size. I found prices quite reasonable for the quality and ambiance provided. I've stayed twice now, and know that any future trip to Santiago will include a stay at the M.O.

Great service, food, recreational services and awesome pool. This reminds me why Latin America always stands out from the rest of the world. World class service and experience. Thank you! I had the chance to stay here for 1 night and I wish I had more time to stay another day!

This is my first stay at Mandarin Oriental, and I'm a little disappointed. I've stayed at many hotels that are comparable to MO (e.g. Park Hyatt, Four Seasons, etc..), so I had certain expectations, which, were not met... Here's a list of things that I didn't like about this hotel from our 5 nights of stay: 1. Mediocre breakfast - buffet selection was limited, the only hot items are scrambled egg, some not-so-crunchy bacon, sausage link, and fried potato, and that's mostly it. On some day cappuccino taste quite good, on others, I couldn't even finish one cup. There were a decent selection of cookies and breads, but that's not my thing. 2. Inconsistent service - sometimes we got turn down service sometimes we didn't. The first day we went to the pool, they ran out of fresh towels and we waited for 30+ minutes. The manager came to apologize in the end and asked for our room number, but nothing special happened, I wonder why they bother asking for room number... 3. Unnecessarily sophisticated checkout - We stayed at the hotel for 4 nights before our Antarctica cruise and 1 night after. For the first stay, they forgot to add the Amex credit and the Silversea dining credit to the bill so it was $200 more than what we were supposed to pay. It took quite some effort for them to look through the dining receipts to confirm the amount. But in the end, the bill was settled accurately. When we checked out our 2nd stay, the front desk gentlemen told me that I need to pay for my charges from the first stay. This is outrageous given that we had already settled that earlier bill! Again, I had to explain to him what charge is what, and with the Amex credit and the Silversea credit, we shouldn't need to pay anything for the previous stay. From my perspective, they simply had a system IT issue when they combined my Amex nights with the Silversea night, resulting in Amex credit not being recognized. However, they've been working with Silversea for so many years, and I bet it's quite common that guests will stay extra nights either before or after the cruise, it's quite unforgivable that they get this wrong. 4. Elevators always out of service - random elevators would stop at certain floor with their doors wide open and become unresponsive. I once stepped into an elevator waiting on the lobby floor and it had about 10 floors lit up, which is a sign that 10 guests had attempted to use that elevator and it failed 10 times.. 5. Hotel is pretty old and the interior decoration is, meh.. Now after my rant, there's some nice things I liked about the hotel: 1. Good A La Carte menu for dinner - although I didn't like their breakfast buffet, their Matsuri and Senso restaurants are pretty good. Food is well cooked and the plate presentation is great. 2. Bell man and front desk staff are pretty friendly and polite. They are always smiling and willing to help us out! 3. Wifi is stable and reasonably fast. 4. In a safe neighborhood, view from the room is amazing! 5. Swimming pool is quite nice!

The hotel itself is beautiful with well appointed rooms and nice touches in terms of amenities. The grounds are also well cared for and the pool area is very nice. However, there were a number of very concerning issues related to food quality and service in general that were troublesome in a hotel purporting to be a five star establishment. In terms of service, there were many, many personnel but absolutely no coordination between them. For example, multiple waiters, but none attend your table. Too much stove piping, and obvious confusion about who did what. Attempts were made to go above and beyond - offering to make reservations at check in for the special holiday dinners. However, when asked basic questions like what the food or entertainment consisted of, staff could not answer. I could name many examples of the problems with service, but the most important thing for me was the plethora of issues with service negatively impacted how I felt about the stay. Food was really disappointing. Matsuri made my spouse and I physically ill, and the holiday dinner at senso disappointed- overpriced and lacking in flavor. Pool food was fine as was the service - this was the only service/food related positive. However pool was frigid. Overall really disappointed in the Mandarin - we stayed expecting the same level of quality and service as at other Mandarin properties but left unhappy with what we got. If you want a nice property and don’t care about food and service you may be happy here. Otherwise recommend checking out another hotel for your stay.

We went on a Sunday after landing in Santiago. They offered a brunch. Possibly one of the most terrible service, although lovely smile, and the food was so basic. For whom ever is used to Mandarin oriental excellence, this will be a drop! Like a big drop!

Our stay here was enjoyable, and we liked the pool. The restaurant was a little expensive, but no more than to be expected in such an establishment. The waiter didn't want to give us tap water, which we drink everywhere in santiago. Not super close to other good restaurants.

Beautiful hotel inside and out. The pool area is very high-quality. The rooms are spacious and the beds comfortable. We had a refrigerator in the room and a coffee maker and a very large TV.

Very nice hotel with exceptional service. The staff is very friendly and without going into too much detail they will move heaven and earth to try their best to meet your needs and make sure everything is taken care of well. The views inside the hotel are nice and the pool area is also worth checking out.

What a beautiful hotel!! We had a wonderful and restful stay during our 4 nights in early June. Unfortunately, the pool was closed, given it was winter time. The room was spacious, with a beautiful view of the Andes. We were given complimentary bottles of MO wine during our stay (thank you)! The neighborhood was safe, and we walked to the mall and the Avis rental car location. But it is not near the metro line (12-15 mins walk). Uber pickup at the hotel is hit-and-miss; some will even cancel during rush hours. WiFi was very strong (good for working remotely).

This hotel surpassed our expectations in so many ways. Before we arrived, I contacted the hotel for transportation from the airport. They contacted me right away and set that up for us. The driver, Patricio, was incredibly nice, helpful and punctual. As soon was we arrived to the hotel, hours before check-in, they took our luggage and offered us a room. We had our three-year-old with us so that made our day. The reception area was so welcoming and always called us by our last names. We felt very well taken care of on our trip. I want to especially thank Javiera in Reception, Camilo and Tomas in Concierge and Magdalena in Housekeeping. There were several other people that helped us during our stay, but they were so sweet, welcoming and always willing to help us. As soon as they noticed we had a toddler with us, they had coloring pencils, paper and small little slippers sent up to our room! The attention to details during our entire stay went above and beyond. There was one point in our stay where we had food delivered via Ubereats, but the food came cold. The hotel arranged for the food to get heated for us. The breakfast served at the hotel was also fantastic. I highly recommend anyone who likes a hearty breakfast buffet to take advantage of it. One night we came back to the hotel a bit hungry and ordered room service. The burger and salad we ordered were exceptional for the price. I highly recommend you take advantage of the drivers they have available for hotel guests. Patricio was able to take us on a half-day tour of the city in his van. This would have easily taken us three days by ourselves, but got it done comfortable in one day. Patricio even went out of his way to take us to a local empanada shop before the tour. The driver prices are higher than regular taxis or Ubers, but 100 times more convenient, especially with a toddler. We will definitely stay at this hotel again as we highly enjoyed our stay!

I can't really understand what's going on with this place or why you would want to stay here unless you are elderly or doing so for some kind of Instagram name dropping clout. Our room was like an outdated office turned makeshift bedroom in a post apocalyptic scenario, in which, for some reason, no edifices intended as homes were available for dwelling, or like, maybe we had to escape from some kind of monster that was afraid of heights and so dragged a bed into this old cubicle on the 8th floor. The room was replete with visibly dirty, stained beige and brown carpets. Two old black leather office chairs faced one another over a squat, pressed wood coffee table like we were about to have the saddest little meeting for a company that no longer existed. I expected a hotel of this caliber to be, at the least, clean and comfortable -- even in its most basic rooms. The staff was very nice.

Very dissatisfied with the quality and service of this place really hoped for something superior and nicer in Santiago especially for the rate of one of the priciest hotels in the city. It certainly does not merit rating or a price of the room.

For me this hotel is nice but didn’t live up to my expectations of a true 5 star Mandarin. Here’s why: when we got there it took a while for someone to come greet us/ help us with suitcases and we were told there is no valet parking and we were responsible for parking our own car. First time ever at a five star resort where this is the case. Then at check in we find out the spa is out of order. This was my birthday weekend and I would have loved to have a spa day so this needs to be communicated at time of booking, not at check in ! My husband had paid for flowers to be delivered to the room which weren’t delivered until he complained. The whole hotel design feels dated and needs modernising. And lastly : the check out took 25 minutes !! First we waited in line, then Kimberly at reception told us that despite us having had our passports scanned at check in, the scan never went through so she had to do it again , then the charge/ hold amount on the card kept getting messed up. She did apologise for the long process but honestly- at a five star resort this really shouldn’t be the case and check out should be done online or have someone come to your room, like in other top resorts. Here’s what I liked: our suite had a terrace, a spacious layout with everything you need, was quiet and had tea/ coffee machine in the kitchen area. The location of the hotel is really great, in the nice residential/ commercial area of Santiago. The big pool area outside is very pleasant with lots of spaces to relax and a waterfall over the pool. The staff acknowledged that I was a MO FAN at check in and gave me a list of benefits to choose from (faster wifi, glass of wine etc) , the Matsuri restaurant is TOP and the best Japanese in Santiago in my opinion. I’ve reviewed it separately because of how much I enjoyed it. Update: it’s been a day since I checked out and the hotel contacted me to ask to charge my card on two items “taken from the minibar” which I did not consume. This further solidifies my point on check out needing to be better, as well as attention to detail - like refilling the minibar after previous guests leave to avoid playing detective on who took what with the guests that come after. Definitely not 5 star hotel management.

Stayed here for four nights in early October. Below are my comments of the overall stay. Would I stay again? Yes, but would not use the restaurants other than breakfast. The good. This is a converted Hyatt property probably from the eighties or nineties based on the overall design. MO has done a nice job of updating the lobby and common areas and overall pool area and believe they are still in the process of renovations. The location is located in an upscale area of Santiago and most rooms have great views of the Andes and surrounding areas. The area for me that stood out was the graciousness of the MO team. All were super friendly and accommodating with polite gestures at each turn. Kudos especially to Alondra "Front Office Assistant Manager" who was kind and listened to me and took me around to share various room types. Stayed in a corner Executive Suite W/Terrace which was quite large and roomy with a great terrace but unfortunately the first day they were painting the outside area and we were unable to use until the evening and housekeeping and the crew did a poor job of cleaning up the debris left over from painting and scraping but other day enjoyed it. The not so good! Both restaurants the Senso and Matsuri which we dined at various evening meals. The quality of the dining is not in my mind what a MO hotel should be. One night at Senso the past dish appeared to have been overcooked as all the filling in the pasta had burst out and left with a very flat unfilled pasta cannelloni. In addition the portion size was extremely small with about six. The dish was Canelotti De Quest Taleggio. In both locations we just felt that the quality of the preparation and contents of the meals we had were just very underwhelming. We did have great meals in Santiago such as La Calma by Fredes lunch twice at Ambrosia Bistro and La Mar is always exceptional. So, the team is exceptional, the locations and overall hotel ambiance is up to 5 star standards but for us the dining options left much to be desired.

It's a great hotel but for a Mandarin Oriental it's far below what you would expect from a hotel in that category. From the small body towel to the bathroom amenities. I couldn't get a bellman to get my luggage when I arrived.

The AC was not working, and seems all rooms had this problem. It was way too hot. Luckily we only had the room for a few hrs as we caught a plane same night. Sleeping would have been uncomfortable. I am assuming this was a fault that had not been rectified the day we visited.

Definitely worth a 5* The staff are amazing, so helpful. Food is out of this world. I had the mussles and they were so good. The patisserie looked amazing but I was too full to try anything. I have never stayed in a Mandarin Oriental before but I would certainly do so again. A lovely treat and great end to my holiday in Chile.

Gorgeous pool and menus & drinks at every turn. Breakfast & early room check in with ease. New to Santiago we were assisted by Camilo Munoz to choose a delightful local winery to tour & a driver who waited for us & shared city knowledge. Camilo suggested phenomenal local restaurants & kept extra bag & arranged transport upon my return to Santiago. Appreciation of the extra care.

Wow! From the moment we entered the Mandarin, we were treated with friendly, smiling, helpful staff. From handling the luggage, to staff getting is a coffee machine for the room.. check in was seamless. Bathroom and shower are excellent and the pool is magnificent with a waterfall. The quality of our lunch was great 👍🏾 with fresh ingredients. Highly recommend!

Very spacious and comfortable rooms. Staff are friendly and helpful. Breakfast buffet is good with a great variety of food. Its a bit expensive but you get what you pay for. Within a short walk of the local shopping area with many shops & restaurants. Terminal for the Hop on Hop off bus is just 5 minutes away (turn right out of the hotel).

Used this hotel as a quarantine nights stay, until we got the all clear from the Chilean PCR test. The perks of being quarantined is that you get a room right at the top of the hotel with great views! We are all negative so can continue to Punta Arenas for our Antarctic Cruise!

Lovely looking hotel but terrible service, we had food ordered by a certain time which didn't arrive it then took 3 phone calls and a visit to the lobby to get it sorted, wouldn't usually matter but we had a very early start the next day which they were aware of! When it finally did arrive it was stone cold and the wrong food was sent.

Just arrived at hotel today, booked car for pickup, wasn't told was independent driver, considering the brand was surprised... just had dinner at senso Italian restaurant, meant to be fresh pasta, I don't know how you do spaghetti carbonara in about 10 minutes to table, it was bland dry. Very dissatisfied fir a 5 star hotel

Disappointed experience. Bad service. Not 5 star. The story: Gifted my sister her wedding night at this hotel. Booked a car to pick her up to take her to her wedding and arranged a lunch with the family at Senso the next day. Spend more than a month planning this with reservations and guest relations. Unfortunately None of the specifics were executed correctly. They never notified her the car was downstairs waiting for her, , she , the bride had to call them! Turn down service never happened as requested so when the couple arrived in the middle of the night from their wedding party the room looked as it did when she left when after dressing up! Breakfast never arrived at the time as it was planned, actually, when they called to ask what happened they were told the breakfast was not included when I specifically booked a wedding night with all inclusive and spend a whole month planning this emails back and forth. A clear waste of my time. Not a 5 star service. The hotel is nice but unfortunately at least after this experience I think their staff are highly inefficient and not capable to coordinate anything between departments. They need More training. Forbes offers a lot of online remote trainings. My suggestion: Invest in your people. In the other hand, our experience at Senso Restaurant was terrific. Highly recommended. We had a pleasant lunch.

Very nice hotel and rooms, unfortunately the spa area was under construction and was not told in advance when I made the booking .

Service: It's not up to the 5star standard at all. Service is slow and most of the staff don't understand English. Few services are limited due to COVID. Hotel: Overall hotel looks nice with its eye catching swimming pool. Rooms are spacious with huge window facing the city. Food: Breakfast is good with wide variation of bakery. However some of the dishes especially grilled items are bland in their Italian restaurant.

Amazing hotel. Since the renovation everything is super beautiful the attention also super good and staff very helpful and nice, food is good, the Carmenere MO wine made specially for Mandarin Oriental is delicious you have to try it. Breakfast is very good too, a lot of food. Bathrooms are nice and renovated i love the shampoo brand they have. The pool and waterfall as always beautiful just always super cold, maybe in the futur try to heat it up a bit because even in summer time is hard to get in the pool is too cold. I love this hotel the best one in Santiago.
