Great location. Nice ambiance. Less than mediocre food. Friendly staff but very show.

My family and I had the best experience in Valparaiso at Chez Gerald newly owned and a new delicious menu! This restaurant it is a MUST TRY... everything we ordered was really good from the appetizers to dessert. Our server José was really kind and patient with us and answered all questions, gave us recommendations and really attentive at all times. The restaurant is beautifully situated right in front of the beach where you can see the sunset and ocean.

Service was very slow, barely even attended to. Water came after bread....Onion soup was definitely not traditional and tasted like gravy. Ordered Paella and looked like Risotto, ordered steak medium rare and got medium well, fish was warm when I got it and got cold as I was half way through. We could tell the menu is designed for the eldery from tour groups, no flavor to food. Did not even think of ordering dessert as I overheard from waiter patience was needed for dessert. Pricing not in accord to quality. Hostess was not even attentive to our leaving the restaurant.DO NOT RECOMMEND AT ALL

Beautiful restaurant. We were part of a tour group of over 100 people. The food was excellent and the wine was wonderful. Service was good and the staff were friendly. It took several tries to get butter for our bread, otherwise the meal was a success.

Good views and very cool interior. The food was unmemorable, however it is worth a stop, even if just for a coffee or drink. The atmosphere is a bit gloomy.
