If you have not heard of Pablo Neruda, probably Chile's greatest poet (politician, activist) you will after a visit to his eclectic multi-level home perched on the side of a hill overlooking Valparaíso Bay. It gives a good insight into his (unsurprisingly) eccentric life. There is an excellent audio guide that takes you through each part of teh home explaining various artefacts and the way Pablo lived. Worth a visit.

This a great way to partially enter the mind of an incredible poet. The pieces he collected throughout his travels are worth seeing.

It was a fun adventure taking bus 612 to the top of the Calle Ferrari to see the house where poet Pablo Neruda lived in Valparaiso. It is now a nice museum. The best part was getting the audioguide and listening to his life and achievements. The view from the terrace was great too.

Excellent audio tour through this amazing house. The map was slightly disorienting at first but is much easier once you reach the living room. Very helpful staff on hand to explain things too. I knew Neruda’s name but was not familiar with his work. The design of the house itself justifies a visit, the view out over Valparaiso with the sea breeze coming in will stay with me for a very long time

Buy tickets in advance. The house is extremely interesting even if you aren't into the Nobel Prize winning poet that became a senator. The audio guidebook works quite well. Take your time to explore. There is something to see in literally every corner of the house and it all has a story. Make sure you find the antique sink that was never hooked up!?

It's a big yes. No photos allowed inside. If you walk from sea level to there, take water with you. The day when we visited there, toilets where out of service because no water. Also you must leave luggages to the storage and you gonna need coins for that.

what a personality and what a house to represent this personality! •|• definitely worth your time and money •|• the personnel is super friendly and take their time to explain how to tour the house plus some extra chat •|• the house itself is a one of one masterpiece of carefully collected objects that are even more carefully brought together •|• the audio guide is perfect as it tells you just enough to understand the persona Pablo Neruda and his thoughts on the design on the house but does not digress into less relevant areas •|• well done! 🏡📖✍🏻📝

Quaint and eclectic little place, with a marvelous view!! Chilean Poet Pablo Neruda’s house is impressive. Five floors that get smaller as you go up! The collection of artifacts inside the house is cool! But, No inside pics allowed! The view is spectacular. You can see almost all of Valparaiso from up here. You can also see the pier where I moored the ship I Captained, the USS BOONE, in 2011!

Is a lovely place great view you get the chance to see how Pablo Neruda lived in Valparaiso, the collections and other great things he has in his house. The old but well maintained Vibe, it has a store a little expensive but nice souvenirs too, we came alone and early so we do not get there with the Turistik bus.

This museum is a must-see of Valparaiso. The audio guides are extremely helpful to understand what we are seeing, and the place itself is astonishing. One of a kind! After the visit I absolutely wanted to know more about Neruda, his work and his life. You won't regret it!

If you appreciate literature, then visiting Pablo.Neruda's house in Valparaiso, Chile, is a must! It is here, in La Sebastiana, were the artist used to spend Xmas and specially, New Years eve. His house, that seems hanging at the top of the Bellavista hill, is all about windows from which an extraordinary view of the Pacific ocean, as well as the roof of the houses that conform the city plus the port, piers, etc... was, and still is, the perfect place from which to look at the traditional fire works during the new years celebration. Having visited all his 3 houses in Chile, the one in "Valpo" may be the one less impressive to the visitor's eye, yet its visit is still worth it, because eventhough it has less rooms to be seen, and less objects of the artist, his energy is present in every corner of the house... and being there is a priviledge that cannot be missed! TIP: From downtown take bus 612, let the driver know you are going to La Sebastiana museum, and he will drop you off at only few steps of this magical place. Once you finish your visit walk half a block down the hill to a little square, there will be Pablo waiting for you and ready for a picture to be taken. Enjoy your visit to Valparaiso, CL♡

We were staying nearby, if we had travelled here I might have been a bit more disappointed. Overall it was a fairly enjoyable experience, the audio tour was good and came in English which was great. The house was definitely quirky, but I was expecting more based on what our tour guide had said, and also the price of 8000 which is pretty steep. I only recommend if you are nearby and have nothing else to do

Nice views over the town, CLP $7.000 for the museum but go there too late to enter so read Wikipedia for free

Really interesting place, with an incredible interior and views over the town. Definitely recommend visiting. Multi language audio guide available (with English) which was helpful.

Disorganized. Not open unless you pay to get into the house. Funny thing because they don't let you in the premises (open space) because of COVID but they do want you to pay to get into the house itself (closed space). Anyway, it was underwhelming.

It was a beautiful place and i enjoyed the multilingual audio guide systems. It was a bit expensive tho at 1,400 peso per person. But it was a great view from up top. Mind u there are no photos allowed in the house . But all the same we loved it .

La Chascona is the least pretty and Isla Negra is the most - La Sebastiana is right in between. The tickets are 7000 pesos (about 10 dollars, a bit less) and the house faces the sea and the colorful cerros of Valpo. Near the house are all the famous escalleras, and right next to the museum is a little panaderia that sells perhaps the best empanada de pino I have tasted while in Chile. Enjoy this house, and remember not to take pictures inside!

Nice little self-guided museum tour that takes about 30 minute in total. Interesting architecture and collection of art. A nice way to spend part of a lazy day in Valparaíso. There is a student discount for travelers with a valid ISIC card.

Unique view in the private life of the poet. House with several flores, plenty of original details and equipment. You should borrow a voice guide, that leads you through the whole house. Marvelous view in the bay and on the port. Interesting especially for the Czech people, because the name Neruda is originaly name of the #Czech poet and novelist Jan Neruda - living and writing in #Prague in XIX century, he and his work was probably inspiration for Pablo Neruda's pseudonym.

Great view, very interesting tour, if not somewhat short... Bit on the expensive side. Worth it if you're interested in Neruda...
