As a Navy veteran, I love museums like this. Be prepared to spend a couple hours. Many of the signs are also in English. It helps to read a little about the 19th century naval battles between Chile and Peru before your visit.

Great museum. It focuses on Chile's maritime capabilities and naval wars but it is more than that. It covers from native Indian vessels to pirates to modern ships. It has one of the "tubes" that were built to resue the 33 miners. Lord Chrocane's fought here during the war for independence and he is featured as is Bernardo O'Higgins. Of course, the War of the Pacific is well covered. To get to the museum take the Ascensor Artilleria.

This is a very interesting museum of the history of the Chilean navy and maritime activities dating back to the 1600s. Beautiful grounds and is still an active naval facility. Easiest to Uber here but we walked. The funicular nearby does not run any longer.

Great and very informative museum. Good expositions and very inclusive for children. The price is fair and a free audio guide is included. The museum is also very accessible for sight-impaired people!

Whether you are local or a tourist, visiting The Maritime Museum is well worth it. For a small entrance fee (around 6 dollars for foreigners) you can immerse into chilean Maritime history and national heroes. Beautiful and well maintained building and stunning views from the garden. Find here the capsule that saved the 33 miners!!!

I really love this place and have visited three times in three years - I particularly liked this years commemoration of the evacuation of Dunkirk in the Second World War .... this was to show the participation of one of the “little ships” which too part in the evacuation and a few years afterwards became the bote salvavidas in Valparaíso- this museum is first class and graphically shows the development of naval warfare in Chile and has some amazing artefacts and exhibits including some from the Pacific war and battle of Iquique which saw the sacrifice of Capitan de Fregata Arturo Prat and his crew aboard CNS Esmeralda - I thoroughly recommend a visit

Great museum explaining the history of Naval Chile, it's conflicts and heroes up until modern times. Note: Little English explanations so if you're self guided you may need to use a guide or translator for non Spanish speakers

Lots of rooms and things in display, so for 3500 it was good value and a nice way to pass an hour. The building is quite cool and the inside courtyard. There are some signs and info in English, but not all.

Great if you speak Spanish, otherwise you'll find the effort into English translations is very inconstant. Still great collection of props and the view over the port is worth the walk up.

Great place if you like or want to learn more about Chilean naval history. The place is big. Probably they could do more with the space available.

This is a much better museum than I expected. There are tons of artifacts and exhibits, particularly several noteworthy objects related to Chilean national heroes and famous battles. The museum itself is in a beautiful large building with an inner courtyard. Lots of curious objects like WWI era torpedos and bombs, a display of marine signal flags, and an exhibit on Chilean territories of Antarctica.
