The breakfast was amazing! We loved staying in this cozy Bed & Breakfast. Our hosts were wonderful and helped arrange a couple's massage, within the house from local professionals. We walked a few feet from our room to another room where we got the best massages we've had in a long time. This was the perfect weekend getaway location. We loved connecting with the other guests during breakfast time. It's close to the beach and restaurants. There's a 7-11 nearby if you need anything. We will definitely stay here again. Highly recommend!!

My husband and I took our baby moon and decided on this sweet bed and breakfast after seeing all the reviews. I know everyone else says this, but Rich and Sharon make this place. They balance each other so well and make you feel right at home. The breakfast each morning was incredible and we could smell Rich prepping the food each night. The room was clean and the amenities were perfect for what we were looking for. We also chose to the couples massage and I got a prenatal one that was so wonderful. If you have a chance to visit, please do! We went in the off season and although it was cold, we still enjoyed ourselves so much. If you stay here you won’t be disappointed!

We stayed at Barclay Cottage Bed and Breakfast to celebrate my wife's birthday. It was simply the best choice. Our stay was quiet and restful; away from the bustle of the boardwalk area, but within walking distance. The room: we stayed in the Davenport which was cozy and comfortable, with a vibe of relaxation and calm. Service: Rich and Sharon are simply the best. They prepare nourishing breakfast with love, the presentation inviting, and lovely music in the background. Location: perfect. Within walking distance of the boardwalk, beach, and plenty of restaurants. I highly recommend, you will not regret it.

Rich and Sharon were absolutely lovely and incredibly accommodating. We had a great weekend escape and the location is in perfect walking distance to the beach and multiple restaurants. Breakfast was great and the room we stayed in was cozy. Would recommend!

Beautiful home. We stayed for Labor Day weekend and had an amazing stay. The location is just a couple blocks from the beach and we were able to walk there in about 10 minutes. Sharon and Rich were so kind and so helpful. They had the best restaurant recommendations. They were very accommodating for us. They have all the beach necessities (chairs, towels, boards, and more). The room was clean. Rich’s food was delicious-especially the roasted peach!! My only complaint is that we could hear all the noises outside at night making it difficult to sleep. They do have ear plugs and white noise machines, but I am a very light sleeper. Even with that, we will definitely be back for more next time we come to Virginia Beach.

This review is a long time comin' but my first experience with a bed and breakfast! As mentioned in literally every other review here - this place is as amazing as its hosts (and the breakfast is 5-star dining!). Really enjoyed the inn keepers, the location, and the quaintness of the home - it almost doesn't feel like VA beach - and yet it's a block from the boardwalk!

We were originally suppose to stay for 2 nights but after Sharon making us feel right at home and the delicious breakfast made by Rich we decided to stay for an extra night! A great, cozy B & B that is only a couple blocks from the beach. We will definitely be staying here again!

Stayed at the Barclay Cottage, weekend of April 8, thru the 10th. It is a lovely and peaceful environment. The chef style and menu was on point. The hosts are lovely people. I highly recommend that you book your stay if you are in the area, you will not be disappointed. I intend to come back in the future. Absolutely perfect. The hosts were SO gracious, friendly and helpful. The atmosphere was so relaxed. The breakfast was AMAZING and the rooms were wonderfully decorated, cozy and CLEAN. I will stay WHENEVER i go back! SIX stars!

Absolutely amazing. Rich and Sharon were such great hosts! The food was absolutely amazing, it felt like we were royalty with that food! The room was absolutely beautiful and very clean. We felt very at home, as the hosts encouraged us to use anything we needed/wanted in the house. They make you feel so welcomed! And it was literally a 3 minute walk to the beach and to a lot of great places to go to!!! I don't think it could be more perfect. Me and my boyfriend plan this place to be our vacation spot for sure!!

So accommodating and friendly! Get the jetted tub if you can. Lovely flower and champagne package. Great night, very comfortable. They will chat if youd like, but they also give you plenty of privacy. Breakfast was delicious and plated beautifully. Coffee ready by 7. Great experience! Would stay again!

My wife and I had a truly amazing time at this bed-and-breakfast. We came here for our baby moon. I didn’t really know baby moons were a real thing, then thought they were a bit corny. But after the experience that Sharon and Rich provided for us, I know we made the right decision. Their attention to detail and personal touch went so much further than anything we have experienced in recent history. Their cooking is amazing, their massage room creates a wonderful atmosphere, and the general vibe of this awesome building built in the 1890s made this an unforgettable experience for both my wife and myself.

Dear Sharon and Rich! Thank you so much for your lovely, warm, and friendly place! We cannot say what was the best: the comfort of the room, the delicious breakfasts, or the family-like atmosphere you created so naturally.  Seems like we enjoyed everything you offered. And don't forget Fiona, the queen of the place! I myself got lucky to meet Melinda, the massage therapist. I feel it was not a coincidence, rather than a work of the highest will. Melinda gives more than a massage. She has a great talent and exceptional skills to work with the body and mind. My girlfriend and I stayed here for a wedding and the hospitality Rich and Sharon provided was amazing. They were super accommodating with food allergies and more. The rooms were great and the location was very walkable to Esoteric and close to the beach as well. Can’t wait to come back!
