Worth it! We walked from the main beach, through the island town and then along a gravel road to the base of the “mountain”. The small and overgrown trail was a little hard to find but if you use google maps, it’ll make it a little easier. I have included a photo of where the trail goes from a gravel road to a small overgrown trail. (The path is noted with a red dotted line.) Don’t forget to go for a swim at the beach after you’ve worked up a sweat.

Great views of Panamá City. The way up is hard to find and the path up the hill is not very well maintained. Highly recommend to wear proper shoes. There is not much shade on the last part which makes it very hot in the sun. Come prepared with water. Other than that it’s a quick and easy hike.

We walked to the top at around 11 am. The path is not hard to follow, but there are some metal pins sticking out of the ground, so be careful where you walk. It is warm when you walk out of the wind and it is easy to get sunburned. It can be done on flip-flops, just mind your step and be careful for the animals in the high grass next to the path.

Great view. The hike, while not very far, is steep and fairly treacherous. Bring lots of water. Real shoes needed.

(Translated by Google) To get to Cerro de la Cruz you only need to walk along the path that goes from the village to the hill. When you get to the first And you must take the pavement road on the right side, then when you reach a small factory of concrete blocks turn left and walk one or two minutes to find the road sign and turn to the right. From there you only need to follow the path for about 10 min. It is a simple and perfect walk for beginner hikers. Be ready to hike this medium-to-difficult hike. The trail is not maintained, so you may need to pull some vegetation on your way up.

We were happy to find a hiking trail which was slightly challenging (steep) on Taboga. The view on top was worth it though. While a blue sky day would have been nice, clouds kept it cool. It was tricky to find because the sign is quite faded and the trailhead is overgrown. I included a few photos so you can find it.

(Translated by Google) Beautiful view of the beach area and the town, the path is quite easy (yes you already have experience climbing hills), but it is not very signposted ... although you can use the map that is leaving the pier. (Translated by Google) Very nice view over Taboga Island, 20 minutes by boat from the harbor in Panama City. The tour is not very clearly marked. You walk from the village towards the mountain. At the y-junction you keep to the right, a little up. After a while you will come to an intersection where you keep left. After a 3-minute walk you will see a small sign on the right with an arrow to 'de la cruz'. From there it is another twenty minutes, a tough climb almost in the sun. The view is worth the trip. Total duration 40 minutes one way. Totale duur 40 minuten oneway.

(Translated by Google) Beautiful panorama of the whole area. There are two roads to the viewpoint: one bigger, longer and more gentle, the other - steeper, shorter, which leads through the forest. It is worth choosing the latter because of the great views and the possibility of feeling like in the jungle.

(Translated by Google) We really liked the island of Taboga. The atmosphere is friendly, the local population is sociable and welcoming ... Do not pass by ... Especially this is a wonderful view from above the entire residential island, all in green and flowers. The entrance to the Panama Canal is also visible. But I want to say that this achievement is not one of the easiest ... you need to climb the mountain in hot weather for half an hour. You’ll recommend visiting it on the island, don’t forget to get some cold water with you, we really had to take this difficult route ... There are many wonderful places on the island ... be sure to go to church. It is one of the oldest Churches in South America ...

Caution on the way, turn left when passing the ranch with the red machine, walk 50 meters and the path appears on the right, there the ascent begins. Great hike from the town of Taboga with views back to the town itself, of Balboa Anchorage, and Panama City beyond. As noted, the trail can be a bit hard to find when it splits from the road. Depending on hiking experience, you may feel it's a bit overgrown and steep in places. However, there are no rock scrambles or anything, so it's not very hard if you are in moderate shape. Certainly a good option if you aren't the type to sit on the beach all day.
