Museum of Cosmonautics, Moscow During the soviet time russia was the center of space technology and exploration. Soviet scientists led by Sergei Korolev opened new frontiers in space. From the labs in siberia to lauch pads in kazakhstan the glorious soviet space age is preserved in this museum in moscow. I found this place very interesting as almost every first satellite to dog to space station that was sent to space is preserved here. Lyka the first dog sent to space has a memorial here and the exact craft that took lyka into orbit is at display. Sputnik the first ever man made object to be in orbit has its replica and the entire history of it can be found here. I got a chance to visit a dummy space staion and see the amenities used by the astronauts with my own eyes. Only few people know like nasa Russia also had their space shuttle known as "burhan" But it never flew from Cosmodrome in kazakhstan. Space capsules that have returned to earth is at display, the black burn out skin of these capsules makes you wonder about the tremendous heat of re entry. Touching that was a dream come true for me. I most most interestingly the space suit of michel Collins is preserved here. Michel Collins was one of the apollo astronauts who flew with neil armstrong and landed on the moon.* Even the first man in space yuri gagarin his space suit and every belongings are here. This place is home to so much knowledge and a chance to see and touch the star stuffs which only can imagine and see on televisions, etc. Hope you guys Enjoy the pics Thank you.

Read some reviews that said it's OK, but just OK. The experience was very different. Firstly, it's super easy to get to, right by VDNKh station. Secondly, there are a number of original pieces that are amazing to see in person, from sputnik-1 to the Soyuz descent module and everything in between. This really is a must see if you're in Moscow - I would recommend the audio guide to get a full picture of what you're seeing (very cheap and very informative).

Rather traditional, but very well organized, covers (mostly) Russian efforts into space discovery. I loved the real size ships, clothes and other equipment all around you, put things into perspective. I would recommend going a bit early, a lot of students invaded the place it can be a bit crowded. You will need about two hours to get well enough scope.

(Translated by Google) We reach the museum of cosmonautics, an unmissable stop for space lovers. To reach the museum, after getting off the metro, go along the cosmonauts alley along which you can see the busts of the most important Soviet cosmonauts in history including the famous Yuri Gagarin. We find the monument to Sergej Korolëv, a famous Soviet engineer and rocket designer during the space race and the one dedicated to Tsiolkovsky, the one who began to imagine the possibility of flying into space and, inspired by the novels of Jules Verne, began to think about how design a spacecraft. In the center of the large square is the monument to the conquerors of space. 110 meters high and made of titanium, it was erected in 1964 to celebrate the achievements of the Soviet people in the exploration of the cosmos; represents a high column of smoke left by a space rocket headed into space.

Awesome! If you want to learn about Russian aerospace history, don’t go to Wikipedia. There’s no better place to see incredible technology and strength of the Russian spirit than at Russian space museums. In the museum, you basically walk through rooms containing artifacts from mock up space stations, a whole range of satellites to personal belongings of cosmonauts and scientist. You can see exhibits testifying the first achievements and success of national space exploration, including the first spacesuits, the first artificial satellites of the Earth, spacecraft for Moon exploration and exploration of other planets of the solar system. Really special place. The entrance to the museum costs 250 rubles. These are bought in the same ticket offices of the museum (usually there are not many people waiting in line). You can visit the museum in a couple of hours. Most of the signs are in English & Russian so this museum is really accessible. I recommend highly.

I was very glad to be given the chance to visit this museum. They were all amazing. It was far better than I expected. A lot of thing to see many documents and staff from the era of the USSR and a lot of interesting information about Gagarin and the cosmonauts. It also has a small place that recreates the MIR space station. I recommende to visit it if possible.

This a great Museum, definitely top 3 on a Moscow must-see-list. Next to NWDH area. Fantastic well-made exposition from early Sputnik period to later manned space-travel. Original spacecrafts next to 1:1 models. Insights in history and biographies of Kosmonauts.

Not tourist friendly at all. No one spoke English and almost none of the exhibits had translations on them. Quite dated interior. Also wasn't organized in any apparent way. Building is very impressive from the outside.

Memorial Museum of Cosmonautics is a must see landmark in Moscow. It is very interesting and excited for every one. It will tell the full story of space race between USSR and US. It highlights the most brightest moments in Russian history and humanity. Tip: 👉It better to read briefly about the Soviet Space Program in order to understand the timeline of the museum displays. 👉 The museum located in suburban away from Moscow center. You can reach there by the tour bus using yellow route. 👉 Spare enough time to enjoy the museum experience.

If all the texts would have been in English then I'd give five stars. Still surprisingly much of the texts were in English which is not too common in Russia. Very interesting museum and the entrance fee is relatively low, so I can strongly recommend this museum.

(Translated by Google) The main exhibit of the exhibition is that the space station is closed, they say it is quarantined, but the cafe with cosmic prices is working in full growth, despite any quarantines. Capitalism. Buying tickets electronically is fine too. Well, most of all I upset the stand with a list of the first artificial earth satellites, where the first earth satellite was captured by the USSR (Russia), but for some reason the flag of General Vlasov was an accomplice of the Nazis, and not the USSR.

Space adventure history in Russia. It is nice to see Space history from Russia. The exhibition was well organized. It included all indispensable pieces of Russian space adventure history. The environment was so relaxed. The staffs were so chill kind and friendly. Photo ticket is required

It's smaller than expected and suffering from the lack of entertainment. It has the greatest potential to make the completely interactive exposition, but unfortunately only some audio guidance is available for now. Anyway it's still the very attractive place to see the wonderful Soviet science and technology.

Great place for a visit on a cold day:) if you just want to look at rockets and stuff it will take you half an hour to walk through the exhibits, but if you want to learn about the Soviet space program and the people behind it and its ideas, you can be there all day;) The ticket thing is a bit tricky but some of the staff is very helpful ...

Amazing place for families with kids. It presents wide and interesting data of cosmonautic history in Russia, curious facts, machines, a cinema room, coffee area and great souvenir shop. Truly recommended. The only particular thing is that if you want to take pictures with pro camera you need to pay an special ticket for being allowed.

This museum provides a detailed account of space exploration, particularly from the Russian / Soviet perspective. The museum is large, well organized and not only focuses on the actual spacecraft, but also on the scientists behind space exploration, the history, the cosmonauts, their training, food, live in space etc. This leads to a very complete and interesting picture of space technology in Russia, which is probably hard to obtain anywhere else. The museum gets crowded with students at peak hours, so plan to visit early if possible. A complete visit would take at least 2 hours, probably more with audio guides. Admission fee is reasonable, around 400 rubles. A souvenir shop with interesting items such as mission patches is located in the lobby of the museum.

Wonderful museum that brings the history of the race of "conquering" the space by the human being. So many details show the force the russians and americans did to be the powerful in the cold war era. So interesting visitation. You have to go when traveling to Moscow.

The Second of Top 3 National Aviation and Aerospace Museums in Russia. + many interesting originals + Focus on cosmonautics + intimate exhibition character + a lot of small exhibits in showcases - Stairs between the floor and large exhibits. A good contrast is the "Space Pavilion" exhibition in the VDNCh All-Union-Exhibition near by.

This was one of the places I was most interested in visiting and it was not as exciting as I thought it would be. Simply AMAZING museum. You can´t go to moscow and leave it without visiting it. You can see from spacecraft replica to real ones, even some pieces of space rocks. There are a lot of different spaces inside as space suits, spacracfts, propulsion investigation history, and much more really interesting things. In addition the museum shop has reasonabily prices on the merchandaise.

  • 5/5 Rodrigo G. 4 years ago on Google
From the entrance you can see the whole room, but there is so much more! Going to the back you have a full sized replica of the Mir Space Station living rooms, so many space suits and return capsules that actually came back from space. All for around 3 euros a ticket, insane value!

Very interesting museum! I imagine that the idea is to pass the russian pride of the space conquest to the russian nationals, but for us foreigners that visit would be more than happy to be influenced by the stories and history as well, but for that, we would need more translations of EVERYTHING that is in the museum!!????

Fantastic museum, entry is not too expensive and there are a lot of very fascinating displays and exhibits. Only thing is that there are a lot of documents and signs that either have a very limited translation into English, or no translation at all. Would be helpful if more of the documents and texts were translated so it could be more accessible for foreign visitors. As it is, a lot of information is in English, but if you do not understand Russian, some of the exhibits will not make any sense. Good souvenir shop too!

It is an interesting place to visit and it is not expensive for a museum(250rubli). However, it mainly has basic, common knowledge stuff based on history of cosmonautics so for someone who knows more about it it can be boring at times. However, it still has different objects that you can look at and analise that you've never seen before.

A fantastic museum about the conquer of space from mankind. The good thing is that it mentions other nations involved, like USA that landed 1st on the moon, so it's not negativity focused only on Russian success. Has a great number of replicas but also authentic spacecrafts and equipment, and a simulator in the entrance of it, which you shouldn't pay to try! It's probably the worst I've ever tried, and should be removed or replaced by one with decent graphics!
