This a must have destination for people with interest in Russian history and literature, and architecture. The house was built by successful Russian entrepreneur Ryabushinsky. The guy invited Shekhtel, who was a legend architect without an architect diploma) Shekhtel was given pretty much full freedom, so he splurged on all kinds of art deco things. Then after Bolsheviks took power, Ryabushinsky ran overseas.Eventually Maxim Gorky lived there, and he was a legend too, precursor of the revolution, a bum, who after revolution became a writer superstar, very rich, friend of Lenin and so on...

Nice detach house. In the past it was very stylish building. However, only small details from interior can show it now. Furniture haven't survive. Very interesting view to how to do door locks and window details.

Gorky was a figure of major importance in the communist USSR, but the ideology he espoused is no longer relevant. He stands as a marginal historical figure. Consequently this museum has become largely an anachronism. Even the staff will admit that Gorky is no longer read. Unless you are interested in the particular branch of communist history occupied by this man then there may only be the architecture of the house itself to attract you. Beware of the outrageous discriminatory admission fees: foreigners can expect to pay three times as much as Russians.

Ryabushinsky's mansion and the "melting" staircase inside. Since 1965, the building has housed the Gorky Museum. Address: Malaya Nikitskaya, 6/2, building 5 Cost of a standard adult ticket without benefits: 400 rub.

A nice small and hidden museum. A good way to take a look of the house of 1930 important character of Russian literature. Even though the house was built before Gorki's arrival. The only bad thing is the lack of English or Spanish info.

This house might not be included in the typical must see list for Moscow tourists, but it's definitely worth visiting for it's unique architectural style. I mean, you don't get to see Russian art nouveau every day :) It's also the house where Maxim Gorky spent the last 5 years of his life before dying if tuberculosis. (Proceed at your own risk, as the bacteria is very resistant.) This museum might give you a glimpse of the atmosphere of the gatherings of the great writers which took place in the living room of this house. Information in English is available on printed paper. The building can be visited without booking a tour in advance.

Even though the museum is formally called "Gorky´s House", everyone knows it as "Ryabushinsky´s House" - a gorgeous building in Art-Nouveau style with amazing interiors - masterpiece of architect Fødor Schechtel. A rare example of a very beautiful and breath taking architecture but still very cozy and human-scale. Its just always a great pleasure to pass it by or visit it, thankfully to loads of discounts or free entrances that Museum offers.

(Translated by Google) Luxurious, exclusive home! He's incredible when you open his soul caches. On the ground floor, the underwater world and a staircase await you, which, like a wave, will send you to the unknown worlds of Schechtel!

(Translated by Google) A very interesting architectural object. Definitely worth a look! As far as I understand, you can book a tour, but there is a printout with background information in each room. The building has 2 floors and an attic. In the attic there is a prayer room with an interesting history too. The entrance to it is not through a common staircase, but a separate one (in front of the ticket office). In 40-60 minutes you will have time to get around the whole. I recommend to everyone!!

(Translated by Google) A good museum, an apartment with a preserved history, even leather sofas with cracked pillows, a library, a collection of bone figures, an office interior with a ceiling like the bottom of a pond, and a ceiling with duckweed and snails. House church at the very top (there is an exhibition of Old Believers from Siberia). An unusual staircase to the 2nd floor, a bench for rest by the stairs, portrait paintings. Everything is chosen with love and carefully guarded. Thanks for saving the story.

450R for foreigners. For each room they have a paper in several languages to explain something about the room or the life of Gorki. Very interesting house. Worth visiting not just for lovers of literature or architecture.

One of my favourite places in Moscow and the Art Nouveau architecture is simply stunning. If you visit the place, please don’t miss the ‘secret’ chapel on the third floor, it’s a little marvel!

(Translated by Google) I have long admired this house outside. All the time I couldn’t go there: either there is no free time, then the museum does not work. Inside, it is even more beautiful than outside. I am not a fan of Gorky’s work, so I looked more at home decoration and furniture from those times. It’s great that the bold architect came across a customer with an endless pocket :) It’s really nice to just be in this house and it's hard to imagine how great it was to live there.

(Translated by Google) The museum contains a lot of interesting information that can be read slowly, in each room there is a printed material on almost every thing. The Ryabushinsky estate was very impressed, that was strength! Currently, of course, the state of the house is neglected, and so, I think that in those days it was a gorgeous mansion! The entrance ticket is 200 rubles, there are benefits. Come on down.

(Translated by Google) As a Gorky museum, this building was not interesting to me, but how the creation of human hands (the architect Shekhtel for one of the Ryabushinsky brothers) was very interesting. One of the few mansions in Moscow, which has retained almost completely the idea of the creator and owner. (Translated by Google) The mansion built in 1903 by the architect Fyodor Shekhtel for the millionaire S.P. Ryabushinsky. The building was built in the Art Nouveau style and is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful in Moscow. The interior of the house has been well preserved, largely due to the fact that M. Gorky lived here after his return to Russia, and later a museum of Soviet classic was located in the house.

Firstly, it is a textbook example of Russian Art Nouveau architecture by Fyodor Shekhtel; secondly, an excellent location for photographs ("# I_on the_stairs_in_Stepan_Ryabushinsky's_mansion"); thirdly, the museum-apartment of Maxim Gorky, where he spent the last 5 years, pay attention to the bed in the bedroom, the table in the study and the ceiling in the library.
