A huge monument of Soviet past. The pure essence of. It big, steel cold and granite hard. Blind muscular metal colossuses, empty inside, lifeless and incredible expensive. Trying to please and terrify at same time. Called to glorify things, that never exist. Pedestal looks like splattered in blood, as if it been dragged across a lot of people. It's pretty good symbol of Soviet era, it shows much more than intended.

(Translated by Google) It is an imposing structure depicting a worker and a peasant woman in stainless steel. Next door is the VDMKh park, the Cosmonaut Museum and the Ostankino Tower. It is worth visiting all these Moscow attractions. The whole area has so many attractions to see and that's just one of them. You could spend the whole day in the area. The presence of chairs and parks allows you to relax at the foot of this structure. (Original) E' una imponente struttura raffigurante un operaio e una contadina in acciaio inossidabile. Sculpture of two figures with a sickle and a hammer raised over their heads. It is 24.5 meters (78 feet) high, made from stainless steel by Vera Mukhina for the 1937 World's Fair in Paris and subsequently moved to Moscow. Monument stands close to VDHKh (Exhibition of Achievements of National Economy). Definitely worth to see!🤩

Worker and Kolkhoz Woman is a sculpture of two figures with a sickle and a hammer raised over their heads. The worker holds aloft a hammer and the kolkhoz woman a sickle to form the hammer and sickle symbol. Highly recommended to visit.

I know - its Soviet Empire style. It should be like all totalitarian stuff bad. But it's not. This amazing sculpture is like a hymn to the power of humanity, its ability to move forward, to reach to the stars. It evokes similar emotions as the scene from Ridley Scott's movie 1492 when Gerard Depardieu jumps from the boat into the seawater. How much power! Human power! Raw masculin power! And of course the great music by Vangelis is a key component in causing this emotion. Don't have to go inside though exhibition is interesting. But look from the outside is a must when in Moscow.

(Translated by Google) I often attend various lectures. Recently I listened to the fifth lecture in a series dedicated to monuments of world architecture. The lecturer captivated me with a competent and well-delivered speech, an exquisite manner of communicating with the audience. The presentation was at the highest level. The material was presented intelligibly, but at the same time without oversimplification. I brought out a lot of new things for myself.

(Translated by Google) The symbol and ideal of the Soviet era. The emblem of Soviet films produced by the Mosfilm studio. Created in 1937 by architect B. Iofan and sculpture by V. Mukhina for the Paris exhibition. After which they wanted to send her to the backwaters of Rybinsk, but to the surprise of the authors themselves at the exhibition, she received the recognition and awe of Western art critics. From what the route from Paris changed to Moscow. And in our time, this sculpture is iconic, strong and admirable. It is one of the three best sculptures of the Soviet era, along with the monuments "Motherland" and "Warrior-Liberator". Its height is 24.5 m, the height of the pedestal is 34.5 m.

If you are going to visit the Museum of Cosmonautics (Музей космонавтики) and the surrounding parks, you really should visit this monument. It is striking in the day, but beautifully lit at night. We stayed at the nearby hotel Kosmos and this is well within walking distance. This statue was originally displayed at the 1937 world fair in Paris next to the Eifel Tower .

Impressive statue made by Vera Mukhina. It has a great story too, from the first time it was exhibited at the 1937 Paris Expo, on top of the Soviet pavilion, in front of the Nazi Germany's one. Now it stands on a replica of the pavilion, at VDNKh. The surroundings need refurbishing, that's the only flaw.

The statue was created by Vera Mukhina ("the queen of Soviet sculpture") the master of socialist realistic sculpture, for the 1937 World Fair in Paris. Though it hardly consoled Mukhina, her sculpture became an official emblem of the Mosfilm cinema studio in 1947. Since then every Soviet film made by this studio is introduced by a logo of a man and woman holding a hammer and sickle. In 2003 the sculpture was cordoned off while repair works took place, and only in 2010 was it unveiled once again – and it finally got a higher pedestal (34.5 meters, 10 meters higher than the previous one), taking the total height to 58 meters: The fifth tallest statue in Russia.
