Officially considered a monument to political prisoners from the USSR. It is perceived as a monument to the struggle for freedom. Monument to all innocently convicted. To everyone who fought, who tried to prove that they were right, and to those who humbled themselves and accepted their destiny.

Nice place, most importantly the stones will make u surprised. The Solovetsky Stone is a monument located in Lubyanka Square in Moscow, across from KGB headquarters. The monument consists of a large stone brought from the Solovetsky Islands, the location of Solovki prison camp, part of the Soviet Gulag system. The monument was erected in 1990 to honor victims of political suppression in the Soviet Union.

Powerful symbol of the Gulag history. The massive stone was brought here 30 years ago from the Solovki camp up north by activists of the Memorial movement. It is intended to represent both the heavy weight of loss and the steadfast solidary effort of memory. Every year on the 29th of October people come here, in front of the KGB/FSB headquarters, to read aloud the names of Stalin's terror victims, one or two names each, in an impressive ritual of rememberance that lasts all day. Thousands read every year, yet it will be decades before the list is over.

(Translated by Google) it was more correct to place the Solovetsky stone not in a green square, but at the entrance to the central building on Lubyanka, more people will pass by it, and many more than once, think about it or remember something (Original)
