Going to see this immense cathedral was the highlight of my trip to Moscow, far better than any other tourist attractions in the city. The cathedral is not only beautiful on the outside but also incredible once you get in, I highly recommend going in to see the wall paintings and the enormity and beautiful paintings of the dome. Moreover, I recommend buying the tickets to the terrace though I must say there are plenty of stairs, so be prepared for that, but the views from up there are incredible.

Nice cathedral, with a beautiful adjacent Patriarshy bridge. My daughter kept asking me why they built it, then blew it up and built it again ) Wish they kept the old one, new is nice but without age there seems to be less weight if you will. Still very impressive in size and art work in and out.

Beautiful inside and outside, also has a beautiful view from the top. It is free to enter and look aroud, but it is forbidden to take pictures! At the top there are 4 terraces where you can see the whole city ( for this you would have to buy tickets but they are cheap). To enter an Orthodox church there is a dress code so be respectful ( no shorts, no opet shoulder shirts, women tend to cover ther heads...)

What a marvelous architecture. The church is located opposite to the Kremlin Moscow. You will need to walk 1.5 Km approx to reach there. The traffic can be really fast but you have sufficient walkways to cross over to the other side of the Kremlin. You can explore its park which is big and a good place to spend a peaceful time. You can enter the church free of cost and it looks beautiful inside. If you want to reach the rooftop of the cathedral you will need to pay 400 rubles for it. You can make payments by cash or cards to capture some stunning views of the Moscow city. Be prepared to climb the terrace using stairs. They do have provision for lifts however, it seems they don't go direct. You need to be patient. Around the cathedral, you can also book tickets for cruise boats.

Cathedral of Christ the Saviour in Moscow Visited on 5/10/2019 The Cathedral of Christ the Saviour is a Russian Orthodox cathedral in Moscow, on the northern bank of the Moskva River. It is a few hundred metres southwest of the Kremlin. It is the highest representative of the Russian Orthodox Church, and is the seat of the Orthodox Patriarch of Moscow and all the Russians. The original church, took more than 40 years to build. It was destroyed in 1931 on the order of Joseph Stalin, leader of Soviet Russia of that time. The present church was rebuilt on the site between 1995 and 2000. The building can be described as having a stone facade and white marble, with four columns, as well as its five golden domes. Visitors are not allowed supposedly to take photos inside the cathedral. The giant dome of the cathedral was gilded. Jehovah Sabaoth disguised as a starets is displayed in the middle of the dome, who is holding the Charter. Dress code must be observed if one decides to enter the cathedral. Women should cover the head and shoulders and avoid provocative clothes; men should wear full-length trousers.

The Cathedral of Christ the Saviour is a stunning and iconic landmark in Moscow, Russia. Here are some pros and cons of visiting the cathedral: Pros: Beautiful Architecture: The Cathedral of Christ the Saviour is an impressive example of Russian Orthodox architecture, with its large dome and intricate details. The cathedral is also beautifully lit up at night, making it a popular spot for photography. Rich History: The cathedral has a rich history, having been originally built in the 19th century, destroyed during the Soviet era, and rebuilt in the 1990s. It is an important symbol of Russia's religious and cultural heritage. Cultural Significance: The cathedral is a functioning Russian Orthodox Church and a popular site for religious pilgrimages. It also houses an impressive collection of religious art and artifacts. Spectacular Views: Visitors can climb to the top of the cathedral's bell tower for spectacular views of Moscow, including the Kremlin and the Moskva River. Cons: Crowded: The Cathedral of Christ the Saviour is a popular tourist attraction and can get quite crowded, especially during peak tourist season. Limited Access: Certain areas of the cathedral may be off-limits to visitors, and photography may be prohibited in some areas. Long Lines: Visitors may have to wait in long lines to enter the cathedral or climb the bell tower, especially during peak hours. Overall, the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour is a must-visit attraction in Moscow. Its beautiful architecture, rich history, and cultural significance make it an important landmark in the city. While the crowds and long lines can be a drawback, the opportunity to experience this iconic cathedral and its breathtaking views of Moscow is well worth it.

Absolutely stunning!!! The entrance on Sunday morning was free :) They do ask for donations, then who doesn’t? Also, make sure you are dressed appropriately (no shorts or sleeve less shirts). There is a small park on the side, and if you walk to the back of the church there is a machine where you can get a coin or little card of the Cathedral for 25 rubles.

Beautiful Orthodox Christian Cathedral rebuilt in the 90s after the previous church had been destroyed in 1931 at the behest of Stalin who wanted to erect a monument representing communist power (Projects never completed due to lack of funds and the Second World War). It was also place of swimming pool. It is impressive and rich. The golden domes are already seen from afar along the river The entrance is free, it is not possible to take photographs, it is forbidden to enter shorts and tops With 300 rubles it is possible to access the 4 panoramic terraces and appreciate the surrounding landscape. Near the Cathedral there is a beautiful park with flowers, benches and a fountain, ideal for restoring. Easily accessible as it is right outside the Kropotkinskaya metro station or in 25/30 minutes on foot from the Alessandro Gardens. Not to be missed to visit also the Patriarshiy Most pedestrian bridge from where there is a great view of the Kremlin and Cathedral

This church has an amazing view point in the heart of Moscow. You will be able to get up by elevator and go down by stairs. This place is not recommended if you are in a wheelchair. Even though they bring you up with an elevator there are more steps to climb.

(Translated by Google) The Cathedral of Christ the Savior is a unique place. Now repair work is underway, so you can enter through the Lower Temple. I entered during the service and was mesmerized by the singing and the aura of this place. As if something had turned over inside. It seemed to me that there was a restoration of energy and strength. The majesty of this structure is sometimes frightening, but when you get inside during the service, then from somewhere there is strength and energy. Thanks to everyone who takes part in the work of this Temple, the temple of soul and harmony.

It's a wonderful place, although this cathedral was rebuild and the frescoes are very new. The interior is amazing in the good tradition of a orthodox church, full of lovely icons and paintings. It was new to me that the sacred space was inside a chapel and not behind an altarpiece decorated with icons. We can feel the respect and devotion of people, despite the amount of tourists. We also visit the crypt. It is a fabulous and quiet place. In dim light we can breathe the Orthodox Christian spirituality. It is a beautiful place. Fortunately it is not a known place for tourists.

The Cathedral of Christ the Saviour is one ne of the most imposing and controversial buildings in Russia, the resurrected Cathedral of Christ the Saviour has had a short but turbulent history. It was originally commissioned after the defeat of Napoleon, but work did not begin on its construction until 1839. The view from top Cathedral gives one of the best panoramic view in Moscow.
