One of the interesting churches you can visit at the Kremlin is the Cathedral of the Archangel situated next to the Ivan the Great Bell Tower. Entrance included with the general 'Cathedral Square' ticket for the Kremlin. This is a traditional Russian Orthodox church constructed between 1505-1508 by Italian architect Aloisio the New and dedicated to the Archangel Michael. From the outside, the Cathedral of the Archangel resembles other churches on Cathedral Square within the Kremlin. You will see a heavily frescoed portal at the church entrance and five domes with crossed atop the church. The interior is beautiful with frescoed walls and pillars. There are shrines, icon paintings and an attractive 13 metre all iconostasis as well. However, what makes this cathedral unique is the presence of Royal tombs including Tsarevich Demetrius (son of Ivan the Terrible) as well as other Russian tsars and princes. In the the end, this is one of the more interesting cathedrals to visit at the Kremlin, mainly because of the Royal tombs. Give the Cathedral of the Archangel at least 15-20 minutes to browse and view inside. Note: There are information sheets in multiple languages that you can use while visiting the cathedral. This helps greatly in identifying highlights and important tombs.
