Wow! I can't believe I've never been and it's right in my back yard. So nice! I took pics of what I could, but there are a few rooms where no photography is allowed. We got there late so we could really only take in a small bit but we will definitely be going back.

What a surprise this was. I had no idea it existed until I drove by. Entry is $10, $8 for seniors and less for kids. Cool building overlooking the river. They had one gallery just loaded with classic painter's works...Cezzane,Gougin,Picasso, Manet. Don't expect a big city collection but for a small town museum, this one is very impressive!

This museum is surprisingly nice, well done, and large. There are six different exhibits inside that are very different but relate to marine life or nature in some way. At the time of visit, there was a special exhibit from the New York Historical Society called The Poetry of Nature. The worker in the room went above and beyond to give us recommendations on where to start, a little background, and some other small but significant details that would not have been known without him. The museum is right along the Mississippi which is also very nice and convenient. There is lots of parking and offer discounted prices for many groups of people such as elderly, students, and kids. Wheelchair accessibly is also great with wheelchair accessible parking, first floor entrance, and ADA-compliant bathrooms.

This museum was way above and beyond my expectations. The incredible diversity of extremely well-known and internationally recognized names in art, particularly in impressionistic art, was unbelievable. This was an incredible gem - I am still legitimately surprised that their collection is so amazing. It cost approximately $9 per adult to get in ($3 if you are a student) and the setting is really pretty – you can see barges and Bluffs and there is lots of outdoor seating. This is certainly one of the nicest private collections in the Midwest. Five stars, but only because I can’t give it six!

Amazing works by the old European masters, and the Hudson School (understandably I couldn't take pictures of those). One of the most underrated places in the Upper Midwest. If you're anywhere near Winona and you have any appreciation for painting, you MUST go.

Art from many ages, many styles, all have one thing in common, navigable water. Fascinating modern mixed media sculpture, classic artists of the past, and photography from the '40s, '50s, and '60s delight the eye and mind at every turn.

We were planning a trip to la crosse but also love to see art museums. After spotting this online we decided to plan a stay in Winona all together. Very nice town with some really cool places, including here. This was definitely up our ally and we were lucky enough to have visited during one of their temporary exhibits that included some German expressionist artists. We visited in the middle of December but I’m sure the scenery around the building is really pretty in the spring, summer and fall. Loved our visit. Staff was friendly, cute little gift shop area as well. Would come back!

We had a great time here, the artwork was stunning, and a really interesting collection of water pieces, and they have a scavenger hunt for kids so they can stay engaged. The little gift shop was great too.

I love visiting the Marine! The background profiles on artists in the permanent collections are highly informative. Their rotating exhibits are unique and fun to explore. The gift shop had note cards of some of my favorite historical pieces, so I can enjoy them at home too.

Stunning art exhibits inside the museum and natural beauty outside the museum. The art, permanent and temporary exhibits, are worthy of the absolute best big city museums, and yet we can find them here in rural Minnesota.

When I was ready to check out my souvenirs from the gift shop a bunch of people had just entered to pay to get in. They only had one register open, but the employee directed traffic to get us all checked out fairly and efficiently. The mixed media exhibit (Gregory Euclid) was very cool.

An excellent addition to Winona's culture. There are some top notch paintings here that are held long-term and areas that get swapped out now and then. Worth a visit for anyone that appreciates painting.

Beautiful building and grounds. The exhibition was incredible mixture of Early European artist like Monet and picasso as well as Hutson River school artists and a group of newer and up and coming artists.

It is a nice, small museum but a weird collection. They will only let you photograph certain sections. Some of the paintings are really high-quality from well-known artists but then there were others that look like the pictures that you would get at those sales at hotels like the ones for three for $99. It was clean and quiet. Some of the exhibits were odd and outdated.

Great art! 6 galleries. Impressionists Picasso wythe classic. Lovely setting. If there are people in your party who don't like art they can sit on the many benches and chairs that face the river. You could also bring a picnic and sit at the tables.

A wonderful, quality experience. The permanent collection is worth the visit. The minnesota artists featured are a treasure.

The museum is an amazing experience. You don't expect something like this in a small town. This was my second time and the art always takes my breath away. So many unique artists come through. There are current unique pieces and some amazing classical paintings. This time there were paintings from the Hudson River historical society and sculptures by Courtney Matteson and her work was powerful. You know how she feels about the coral reefs health in this world. Her art makes you stop and take stock of our responsibility to our planet. I highly recommend.

Wonderful museum, beautiful displays of art. Entry prices really affordable and definitely something to do with your family. They have a very nice exhibition with art from the impressionist, I was delighted to see their work, too bad we are not allowed to take pictures in that exhibit. We enjoyed our first time there and will be back again. Highly recommend it. Keep up the good work!

This museum is a gem and worth the trip to Winona. Very interesting exhibits year round. If you like water in any form you’ll enjoy their collection!

Attended the Winona garden tour & the MMAM participated. Beautiful gardens surround the property and are an extension of the galleries. The path was pea gravel and this offered some complexities for mobility but it was found some areas were more difficult than others. Took the opportunity to see the art galleries offerings. This was an unexpected delight. Work this into your travel plans.

The two time limited exhibits were wonderful! It was a nice, clean, and cool (on a very hot day) environment. The staff was pleasant, informative, and helpful. I will definitely return and would recommend it to others.

I love this museum!!! The events and galleries are fantastic. They added this accessibility cart, which I love! There's a wonderful spot outside with tables for enjoying the river or enjoying a picnic outside of the building. See the gyotaku exhibit while there's still time!

Maybe a hidden gem. Please don't let the word "marine" influence you. This is a fine art museum with works by several master artists. Well worth the few hours it takes to wander the galleries.

An absolute gem! I don't know how they have collected this beautiful body of work at this small museum, but don't miss the Minnesota Marine Art Museum! From the reference painting of Washington Crossing the Delaware, to European Masters and traveling exhibitions, there is something for everyone! Docents are fabulous and it's a super experience for school groups as well. Bravo!

What an unexpected find in our travels down the Mississippi! The original artwork was amazing of some of the Grand Old Masters of fine art. A gallery you might expect to see in New York. Fabulous!!

A great little museum that I was fortunate enough to stumble across by accident. The Hudson River School gallery was stunning and gave me a much deeper appreciation for the movement. It's a little stuffy for younger kids, but older kids will enjoy it. My only minor complaint is not allowing digital photography at all. I understand not allowing the use of flash but I would have liked to have gotten a picture of one or two of the pieces, especially having travelled so far.

Wonderful selection of art from four centuries. Walk right up to a Matisse, Cezanne or Kandinsky; see rotating displays; see the original painting of Washington crossing the Delaware; chat up the staff for good back stories. Just amazing that this is in Winona, Minnesota!

This place is an absolute gem. The permanent collection includes a spectacular American wing and a gallery of Impressionist pieces that you would expect to see in a metropolitan museum. Not only is it a "don't miss" if you're in Winona, it's a "worth the drive" if you're not.
