Took so many great photos for our anniversary hike! Never been here before and we walked all 10miles and enjoyed every bit that we could. We saw a few monk seals (even an injured one that we called in), met some local fishing and even waded at different shallow points. Definitely a beautiful area and well maintained. Parking was easy to find. Start early or the sun will get you. I wouldn't wear slippahs/flip flops.

I love this beach spot. I've camped there several times and witnessed some impressive waves, which were incredibly beautiful to watch. Fishing by the ocean was so calming, and just chilling out by the campfire with those breathtaking views made it a perfect getaway for me. I love soaking in nature and relaxing vibes, making this park a must-visit for anyone seeking a peaceful escape.

Awesome hike and very beautiful at the point. 2.5 mile hike to the end which was fairly easy but it gets hot. Watch out for Monk Seals, baby birds and spinner dolphins off shore. Magical place!

Very scenic Beach. Loved the waves coming in. Was windy when we were there so that helped cut down on the heat. We saw fishermen, snorkelers, surfers and even a sea turlte and some black crab. Would love to visit again.

Worth hiking 3hours! It was a bit muddy since rained, but I loved every moment of this hiking. Meeting a monk seal and albatrosses, spotting a whale, beautiful scenery, not a single complaint! You will need a water bottle for sure. Keep in mind that there is no washroom, and it is a long walk, but worth every single moment.

This quiet corner of Oahu deserves your attention. We hiked the 6 miles out and back from the North Shore and enjoyed the rain, wind, and spectacular ocean views. Lots of wildlife and Monk Seals hiding out in coves. The point is particularly beautiful and a throwback to times of old before ecosystems became so marred with human impact. Worth the hike and your time.

Situated in the north west part of the island, Ka'ena beach is one of the less crowded beaches in Oahu. The shoreline is long and there's plenty of space to sit and relax. The waves can be a little rough, depending on the time of the day. So, do take precaution when venturing out. The beach is in a slightly desolate part of the island, so there are not many food / drink options, so be prepared. Sunsets are amazing and if you are looking for a chill day by the beach, this is highly recommended.

Amazing hiking trail located on the leeward (west) side of Oahu. Trail is fairly easy, few rocks here and there on the trail but there really is no drastic inclines. Takes about 3.5 miles to get to the point, which is worth the views along the way, and when you get there. Parking is often limited to access this trail as they close the road leading up to this trail. Often times you’ll have to park on the side of the road near the Space Force base. Still, it’s worth the effort to see this place. Make sure you bring plenty of water as it can get hot, especially in mid-day timeframe.

Excellent evening walk for sunset. Saw whales from shore, spotted a seal out on the rocks, and watched an albatross walk by kindly sticking to the trail :). This is the second time we’ve hiked this. This time was better, later in the evening, the first time was earlier and hotter due to being totally exposed with no shade.

Beautiful hiking here on a relatively isolated and uncrowded stretch of the north coast of Oahu, west of the big-wave mecca of Haleiwa. Stunning coastline, perfect for those relaxed, thoughtful moments of contemplation. It's definitely worth the drive.

The view and tide pools are incredible and the crystal blue waters crashing against the rocks are hypnotizing. Great walking and hiking as well. Free, Free, Free

This is such an incredibly awesome place. Parking can be tough as the park is closed, so you have to walk from the gate at the main road to the trailhead. Since there used to be a railroad going around the island there is a fabulous, easy to walk path that is well traveled and thus mostly maintained. The fun comes in when you try to find a natural hot tub and climb down to it, which we found!

Totally worth the drive up the Leeward Coast - and also the walk/hike as far up towards the point as you can make it! We had beautiful weather on the day we visited! We were lucky to see a seal sunbathing as well as the BIGGEST Sea Turtle we’ve ever seen! The terrain was not too strenuous (just a bit muddy because of rain from the previous day). The views were just incredible. We didn’t make it to the arch - but the distance we did hike we loved every bit! Be sure to keep an eye out for the beautiful cacti, flowers and unique plants along the trail!

So so so beautiful 💗 I love the very end point of Ka'ena for its absolutely breathtaking views, lava rock, coral rock, sand, pillboxes, and the most adorable monk seal just living his best life! The seabird sanctuary on the way out to the point was an amazing bonus! The birds were so beautiful to observe. No dogs allowed on this hike because of the bird sanctuary so leave them at home! The views all the way out and back are just gorgeous but my favorite part was the sunset! You need a permit to be in the park after 7pm (which we have thankfully) or you'll have to answer to park rangers patrolling the grounds. So worth going any time of day though! 🌊🌺🌅

2 mile walk from parking to point. I recommend good tennis shoes or better. Mostly flat, but rocky & water/mud puddles. I wore high top hikers, my ankles glad I did. Son-in-law flip flops, to each their own. There is a cool Blow Hole about 1/2 way -- listen for it. It sounds often, also spouts water, but less frequently. It's between parking & large ocean arch, so easier to find leaving. Whales, whales all along the way. Too cool Large Albatross Colony & couple hundred yards of sugar sand near trail end/point. I walked until in the ocean... just because 😁 Trailhead parking gate closes promptly at 7pm. Park outside if you're getting late start.

This was an absolutely amazing hike, and by far my favorite of my trip. It takes over an hour to get here from Waikiki Beach, because the speed limits are pretty low, and there's a lot of speed bumps. But, because of that, there was almost no one there. The entirety of my hike I think I saw 10 people. It was fairly easy as most of it was flat. There's one spot where the main path has crumbled away, so you have to go up on a much narrower path up on the side of the hill. Just don't look down and you'll be fine! The hike round trip was over 6 miles from the Leeward side. But once you get to the end it is a natural sand dune with birds and seals, and at the very tip down by the water you can see both the North shore and the western shore. You are standing on the absolute tip of Oahu, which I found incredible. There is no protection from the sun so make sure you bring sunscreen and water. Also the guards lock up the gate at exactly 7:00 p.m. I told him there were still five people out on the trail, and he said "well I guess they should have parked their car outside the gate." So just know if you're going to go for sunset, you need to park outside the gate. It looked like the access to the sand dunes from the North shore was much closer than it was from the Leeward side, but I cannot confirm that.

Spectacular hike, we were lucky to see seals and whales the last time. Bring lots water, shade (hats or umbrellas), and sunscreen as there is no shade. No services along the trail, but there is a restroom at the beach if you're on the west side.

Ka'ena Point State Park is a beautiful state park on the North Shore. Large free parking lot, beautiful sweeping ocean views, loads of informative signs, hiking. Do yourself a favor and check out Ka'ena Point State Park. If you find my review helpful, please click the thumbs-up 👍 icon. Thank you!

Beautiful scenery. And no homeless people here. Lots of crabs on the rocks. The ocean has a beautiful color to it. There is a sand parking to park in.

Great, easy walk to the tip of the island. It takes one hour each way, plus time at the point to eat a snack and enjoy the view. We saw a seal and albatross, which was really cool! There are no restrooms! Also, bring water and wear comfortable walking shoes, it's a solid 2 miles each way. Tip: please bring ear buds if you want to listen to music. Using a speaker and blasting your music is annoying to everyone else trying to enjoy the sound of the birds and ocean.

This was a great place to visit! At the entrance was a very nice beach, the waves were rather large for young children or those that are not experienced at swimming. This was in November so I am not sure if other times of the year would have smaller waves. We went for the hike though, this is a great family hike with awesome views. There are some areas that are along some steep drops so keep an eye on the little ones. The path of wide and easy to hike/walk for all ages. There are some large rocks that might twist an ankle if you are paying attention but overall it is family friendly and you can go as far as you please. The arch rock is a little over a mile from the parking area but worth it in my opinion. We really enjoyed our day there and we only had some snacks, water and sunscreen. This was prepared enough for our adventure.

Great day with great weather even though it was gonna rain! Woohoo!!!! If you try hiking back into the park you won’t be able to go back becusse if the gate closing the way and the water on the path. Still a lot of fun!

Awesome location. You can do a moderate length hike to an area where you can see monk seals. The hike is VERY hot so bring water and appropriate attire. Stunningly beautiful area and relatively quiet.

May have very easily been my favorite part of my visit to the island. Fun hike just before sunset. Definitely got a vibe that this was a spot locals frequent. Wear good shoes!

Still a great hike. Took me 50 minutes stepping it to the end one way (but stopping for pictures). Most birds nest at least 20' from the rope on the trail with 50' away more like it. Just a note: the beach parking lot is locked and not opened till "6am." That time is quite variable depending on when state park officials feel like getting up. Also when waves are high in winter, the entire park is closed for safety. No bathrooms once you leave the parking area btw. The ties are from the old train going to Northshore with plantation workers btw. BTW2: the “jeep trail” on the map is misleading; a steel bar across the trail a few minutes in, and literally a 50’ gash where the road no longer exists (and so a sliver of trail goes up the cliff around it). A few okole tightening scrambles are required for those with little ones or those uncomfortable on such settings)

A pretty easy out and back hike, though it gets pretty hot due to lack of shade. The conservation park at the end is lovely and you'll see plenty of birds native to the area. We didn't see any seals or turtles on the day but the seas were pretty rough. The view back down the coastline and mountains is magic though and you'll be taking plenty of pictures. The beach you pass on the way to the trailhead is well worth a stop for a swim - you'll be hot from the walk anyway so it's the perfect way to cool down 😎

Beautiful beach with white sand. However it is up the West Coast and the area you drive through is very sketchy. This is where many homeless on Oahu live on the beach leading up to the park. They keep the park free of homeless and it is very nice, but there are signs everywhere it is a high theft area and not to leave valuables in your car. There are a lot of park rangers there. The surf can be a bit rough and there are signs for dangerous undercurrents. There is a hike from there to Kaena point, which should be pretty, but you can also hike from the north side. This side is not windy, the north side is, but the wind is cooler and refreshing.

I really live coming out here and enjoying the peacefulness. Anytime family or friends come to visit, this is one of the stops. If I am in the mood, I will also hit the trailhead and go for a hike. I was watching the whales when I came here yesterday.

We did this hike from the North Shore side to the point. It was just over 4 miles to and from the point, and the hike is great for those who want an easier stroll with gorgeous views. There are two ways to approach the trail, either along the beach or along an often stoney path. We weaved back and forth between both. In January, we saw Albatross nesting and whales jumping off Ka'ena point.
