Been coming here for 25 years and probably going to go to Giovanni’s. Rude employees and small portions is probably why there was no line. We met our friends there and arrived 5 minutes after them. When we went to order, we were told that it would take 45-60 minutes for their most popular shrimp (combo 1). They said the boiled shrimp we could have in 15 minutes. We ordered the boiled and went back to sit with our friends and found out that they were told the same. However, they decided to get the original and wait. I was shocked when there order cam out before ours. It’s not the end of the world but just disappointing!

This place has changed and not for the better. Each time we've gone there these last year, regardless if we come early or late, weekday or weekend, they're always out of prawns. Not sure why. So we get the shrimp. But that's not all. Even with the shrimp, a few times including this last trip, we ordered Butter Garlic Shrimp but they're either out of it or we have to wait up to an hour for it. So, we take the alternative recommendation coz that will be ready in 15 mins - streamed shrimp with the butter garlic sauce on the side. DON'T DO IT. It doesn't taste the same. Also, the Steamed shrimp is more expensive for a couple more shrimp (they'll tell you that you will get a whole pound of shrimp if you order the steamed shrimp). And the butter garlic sauce they claim is the same if we were able to order the actual Butter Garlic shrimp? NOT the same. The Butter Garlic sauce they gave us was mushy garlic floating in oil in a little plastic cup. (See picture) At this point, it feels like a Bait and Switch style of selling shrimp. Make people drive all the way to Kahuku then upsell them on the steamed shrimp to pay extra or wait the 45-60mins for the dish you really want. Who wants to wait that long after a 45 min drive to get there? And, yes, we try to call ahead. They have NEVER answered. So why keep going back? Because before the pandemic, they've always been able to deliver what we liked. But the past 2+ years when our family/friends come to visit the island and we take them there, it's been bad. This last trip with family who insisted on their cravings got disappointed, we felt defeated. We felt so bad they were disappointed, we made the extra few minutes drive to a different shrimp truck to get them what they really wanted - shrimp with butter garlic on top!

Let me tell you first. If you like garlic then you will not regret with scampi. Secondly, if you like scampi, any scampi in Hawaii would not let you disappointed. It means that you don't need to spend more than 1 hours in order to wait the scampi here. I don't mean that their scampi is bad. Actually they use fresh shrimp and you will enjoy their scampi. However if you ask me it would be worth to wait for their scampi more than 1 hour, I then would be doubt with positive answer. If you want to taste their scampi, then go for it! You will like it. But if you want to save your time and do something more activities in Hawaii, then go for it while you could taste a scampi other places in Hawaii as well.

They were out of the sweet & spicy and fried shrimp combo meals, but the garlic butter shrimp plate was so good! We’ll definitely be back!

Awesome shrimp. Staff was not necessarily the friendliest and basically recommended everyone order the steamed shrimp, because the the garlic shrimp could take up to an hour. But the food was worth it, and definitely wasn’t an hour wait.

I recommend calling in your order ahead of time No frills shrimp truck - the shrimp is juicy and delicious! The wait was going to be long (1 hour) for butter garlic and spicy shrimp so we opted to get the steamed shrimp with the butter garlic sauce and sweet & spicy sauce on the side. The wait for that was only 15 min. There's covered seating outside

Romy's Shrimp Shack is a popular food truck located in Kahuku on the North Shore of Oahu, Hawaii. This establishment offers an experience that deviates from the standard fast food offering. While it requires some patience, the quality of the food justifies the wait. Moreover, it provides exceptional service and serves fresh, delectable prawns.

The wait was 20-30 minutes which was ok. But when our food came out I was disappointed. We ordered 4 plates of garlic shrimp and 2 plates fish. 19$ a plate for the shrimp plate. When we opened up the plate there was only 5 pieces of shrimp. My son got up to go ask the worker why there was only 5 pieces of shrimp. She responded by saying you only get half pound shrimp so that 5 pieces is right smh! Never going back!!!
