Really great dives. I am afraid of drift dives but our divemaster Taxx, took my husband and I to a less drifty spot and we enjoyed two excellent dives with him. The health of the reefs and the diversity of fish was astounding. We have never seen so many different fish in one location before and we have over 200 dives! Our second dive felt just so right. I was really comfortable, the dive site (Big Blue) was gorgeous. We really didn't want to get out of the water! I wish I could figure out how to add a photo. The dive operation itself is very well-run and the dive crew took great care of us. If it wasn't so far from the Eastern US this would be annual trip for sure. Highly recommended.
Diving in our Hidden Paradise
We are a couple of scuba diving instructors traveling through Fiji. We’ve been to different dive centers around the island and on our last day ended up here to go to Nemena dive site. We regretted not coming here before. The facilities are amazing, the staff is on another level and the boat is so comfortable compared to the other centers that it makes you want to stay forever. Wow. Very well surprised! Too bad we didn’t come before for more dives. Thank you for everything, for all the help and extra dive time when everybody was already out of air. We had a blast!
The dive guides, all the personnel and the service are 5 star! Hearty Fijian people with a lot of experience in diving and boating and knowledge about sea creatures. The shop is well equipped, I liked especially the regulators. Vinaka vaka levu!
Professional and experienced we had some of the best dives of our lives with the team at Jean-Michel Cousteau resort and dive centre. Thanks to Geoff, Leo and the team for looking after us so well and showing us the amazing beauty of Namena Marine Reserve - 5-star team and service - we will be back! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Best dive centre with the best staff! Did my OW with them and Jeff was a great instructor, super patient and knowledgeable. Andy is the best manager and the gear is in perfect condition. It is because of them that I have decided to go pro on diving. Diving in Fiji is amazing, perfect visibility and warm water, lots to see in those clear turquoise waters. Highly recommend, especially if you are looking for a conservation oriented dive.
Een hele mooie en fijne snorkeltocht gemaakt en heerlijk geluncht waarbij de service er echt uitsprong. Zo klantgericht. Als wij ooit nog naar dit prachtige eiland gaan wordt het zeker dit resort!
Great dive trip. Dove with them in April. Did two Dives in Namena with them and it was worth every penny. Definitely recommend them for Namena. This is our second trip to Namena and can not recommend it enough.
Great dive shop! The team were awesome and super professional. Would highly recommend and will definitely use again if we visit!
We planned a dive to the dream house site dive with the Jean Michel Cousteau dive shop. We were told that it was a deep dive at 40 meter to see the hammer head shark. No problem, we are advanced divers with more than 150 dives under our belts. You pay an extra fee for the boat taking you there because it is around 4NM from the hotel site. Well, we got there at 8am for a dive at 9am. In the end, we barely saw the sharks, because we never dove more than 30 meters!!!! and the sharks were at 40 meters; all we saw, were a few shadows. When we came back up, we were told that there is no decompression chamber in Fidgi, so they dont like to do any deco stop... so that is why they dont go more than 30 meters. Of course, they told us that once everything was paid. So my recommendation, the cousteau name is just a myth with a name and not a guarantee of a well and informed dive shop that gives you what you paid for. Really pass it up!
Fantastic dive centre. Myself and my daughter (10 years old) completed our PAID open water. Danny, George, Aggie and the team were wonderful. Pool Skills: The pool is amazing. Wow. What a fantastic place to learn PADI skills. Diving: This is some of the best reef I have seen. Also, there were reefs other divers were heading to that blew their mind. Every level of diver is catered for.
Amazing diveshop! The crew - all the way from the manager to the support staff - is exceptionally friendly and makes diving here simply a wonderful experience. Both the local dives, as well as the outings to Nemana, the marine reserve, are first class. What sets this place apart are the guides - they are super knowledgeable and name every critter, large to miniscule!
Fantastic staff, extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Always smiling!
Divers: avoid, it’s a rip-off!! As experienced divers with over 150 dives who have traveled the world in remote places and visited some of the best dive shops, our experience with the JMC was far below any standard we’ve encountered. Here’s why we strongly advise others to stay away and pick better rated, better quality and better service shops like KoroSun Dive 1. Outrageous pricing: The prices are astronomically high—more than twice what we’ve paid for top-tier diving around the world. For the quality of service provided and quality of diving (outside of Namena which is also double the price vs other shops) these prices are completely unjustifiable. 2. The most important: safety concerns: Safety is a fundamental aspect of diving, but the dive masters failed to meet basic Padi safety standards. They didn’t ask our air in none of the 3 dives, and on one dive, two ADVANCED divers faced a decompression issue—an alarming sign of poor attention to depth and dive time. A dive master must always monitor the group and take responsibility for the divers’ safety, but this was not the case here. This lack of care is not only concerning but goes against PADI standards. Diving is no joke and as experienced divers we know anything can happen in the ocean and we’ve seen and heard enough story to know how important it is to carefully pick the best shops to limit the risks. 3. Subpar dive experience: The dives were poorly managed from start to finish. Despite requesting the best dive sites, we were taken to some of the worst locations, with visibility so poor we could barely see our dive master. Briefings were rushed or absent, and the dive master seemed uninterested in the group’s experience. 4. Complete Lack of Customer Care: We tried to address the issues with the dive shop, but management showed little interest in improving the situation. When we inquired about modifying our dive schedule, we were still charged for unnecessary equipment and staff, despite the fact that some services would not even be used. Their indifference to customer feedback only highlighted the shop’s lack of professionalism and care for its guests. 5. No Value for Money: After 2 days of poor experience, we called other shops and opted to try another dive shop, and for less than half the price, we had brand new equipment, a more personalized experience, and an overall far superior service. The other shop came to pick us up took the time to check tide conditions, visibility, and provided a dive experience that actually felt safe and enjoyable. In short, the Jean-Michel Cousteau Dive Shop is a rip-off and fails to provide the high-quality, safe diving experience you’d expect for the price. We strongly advise any divers—especially experienced ones—to avoid this shop and seek a more professional, customer-centric alternative.
