Coopers Creek produces wines from grapes grown in several NZ regions. They produce well known varieties Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, and Pinot Noir. They also produce some varieties less well known in NZ, like Viognier, Arneis, Marsanne and Montepulciano. We visited the Cellar Door and enjoyed a tasting of 7 or 8 wines for a modest $10 charge. Well worth a visit.

Upon entering, asked for a wine tasting. First response from the lady proprietor was a very rude request to take off my gear first ie mask and sunglasses. I forgot I was wearing them after getting off the bus and hiking half a kilometre to the winery in the sun. The request was of course reasonable given licensing requirements but I was taken aback by the abruptness of the request from the lady. After I took them off, the gentleman proprietor served us the wine for tasting. Despite the awkwardness caused by the lady’s behaviour, the gentleman did try to make it up and did a good job explaining the wines, and the wines themselves were good quality but for us the whole experience was spoiled.

Super experience with excellent wines. We took a wine tour with Scenic Coast and Vines Tour and we stopped at this excellent winery. We tasted many wines and enjoyed them all. My brother bought a picnic/foldable blanket, very nice. Such a beautiful area. Outstanding.

Not a wine drinker by any measure. Picked up a red and white when passing by to Muriwai last week. Nothing serious. $12 per bottle stuff. The red was average but the white was very very tasty. Loved every drop of it. First time in my life I've actually enjoyed wine like this. Can't wait to visit the place more elaborately after lock-down.

Always a very pleasant experience. I have been to this vineyard a number of times with friends, it's always good. You can buy wine and have it outside with a cheese platter, highly recommended.

Is a great place to spend the weekend with family and the kids. Adults could hang around together enjoying their wine while the kids play catch.

We've loved Cooper's Creek for years especially the live jazz on Sunday afternoons (check online for listed dates and bands). Great wine tastings to find your favourite choice to enjoy with food brought from home or bought on site. Very affordable at $30 a bottle for the wine, the jazz, setup with tents, tables, chairs, and amazing grounds with water features and a playground for kids. We recommend the Cabernet Sauvignon and the Montepulciano. If you'd like to get a good spot in shade we find it helpful to arrive a bit before the jazz starts which is usually 1 to 4 pm. Below are current prices for wine and food in the photos. Thank you for the great times for our family and the community.

Had a great Sunday afternoon with a jazz band. Bottles are $35 as is the cheese platter, so doent break the bank. Nice cost venue.

Great wine. Fun times chatting with the gentleman guiding the tasting. Gave us a run down of all the various regions and varietals in the area.

My partner and I swung by late last Saturday and Stu in the cellar door gave us one of the best tastings we’ve ever had. Epic yarns and an absolute character - made our day. We’ll worth the trip. And the bottles you can’t help but buy afterwards.

Unique and tasty wines. Broad selection and well made. On top of that they are very reasonably priced. Warm friendly and knowledgeable staff complete the winery. Highly recommended. 👍

One of the best tastings I’ve ever been to. The woman who served us was amazing, the tastings were generous and the place was so welcoming. There were people prior to us complaining they had to pay for a tasting (totally normally so that was weird) + but I can easily say this is one of the top five tastings I’ve done in New Zealand. Highly recommend this vineyard!
