I came in at 4pm via an ambulance, following a fall down a flight of stairs, loss of consciousness and seizure. I have been waiting in the ER waiting room for 16hours, and still counting. My health has been slowly declining throughout this time. I have told this to all of the nurses. I have been dizzy and nauseous and asked for updates every hour, each time they tell me there are just a few people in front of me. They tell me I need to stay to get a CT scan but have not told me how long is the longest I will wait and have left me to my own devices in the waiting room. In 16hours they have given my partner and I a sandwich and a cup of tea. They will not even give me a letter to say I arrived by ambulance to satisfy my travel insurance. They keep saying to keep waiting. It has been 16hours, the sun has set and come back up again and I am feeling much sicker than when I arrived. I wish I had never come here. My head injury was 21 hours ago and there has still been no doctor to see me or even a nurse to tell me how to manage my symptoms. People are going to die in this waiting room. If your hospital does not allow treatment of head injuries within 24hours of the event and instead puts them in an overcrowded waiting room then you should NOT be accepting them. Self monitoring at home would have led to a better health outcome at this point. This will ultimately be my deciding factor to never again return to the UK. You need to fix this!

When I was seen by doctors the staff were excellent at explaining and follow up treatment was outstanding. I can’t fault it. However, I was waiting for so long. Altogether I spent 20 hours in a chair in A and E. It’s not the doctors fault, the place needs more staff, more money. I honestly feel nervous at how overrun the nhs is. It’s going to all come to a negative end. And that is sad. Doctors were fantastic. Waiting times verging on inhuman.

I've been coming back and fourth to Morriston hospital for a month now due to my son burning himself . The Staff member have been nothing but amazing towards us. My son is 1years old and they do everything they can to make him feel comfortable. When either myself or my partner got upset staff members were compassionate and reassuring. Nurses were all friendly and helpful and all staff involved with my son are great! I couldn't have asked for a better team of people to take care of my son.

My mother admitted to a Covid designated ward although she was Covid clear. Did not inform her or family this was the case. Hospital initially refused access to her but also reluctant to inform us of her true condition. Not only did the Hospital refuse visits but also moaned when we telephoned to enquire/discuss her condition. We did manage to Skype her though thanks to voluntary service. During her final days we managed to obtain limited visiting ( two at a time) My wife and self remained with her during her last three days. But ! There were no catering facilities of refreshments available outside of the Costa cafe opening hours. At 3..00am on a gloomy January morning we often found ourselves sitting under a drafty tarpaulin cover temporarily erected on a wet tarmac roadway between Smiths shop and the hospital building. The seating was basic some broken dirty chairs as were the tables. Public Toilets were dirty and in one case unusable. Very surprising in view of the fact Covid was prevalent. All third world stuff. Outside the main entrance a few hundred discarded masks and cigarette butts decorated the approach. Despite the Covid regs. In force we noted many staff were going in and out of the hospital in uniform. Many were nipping to an outside pub for refreshments in their lunch breaks complaining the staff restaurant was closed. On the Friday night we heard staff saying ambulances were banked up outside the hospital with patient and a waiting time of five hours. Apparently only one ambulance was covering the whole of Swansea. One simple reason I would be afraid to live in Swansea as I grow older is this hospital. Management/Communication appears non existent, transparency and care for visitors the same. There are extremely good and caring staff at the chalk face but the rest of it is inefficient, complacent and of the last century. Wales NHS requires a good overhaul from top to bottom. It has been instrumental in creating unnecessary suffering, humiliation and fund wastage on a large scale. I can say this because I have the proof and several experiences too, with wales NHS. This treatment at Morriston hospital was not an isolated case.

Bad... Bad hospital, bad emergency waiting 6h with my 11 months son with 39,7 temperature at 17:00 o'clock ...waiting 2h. Before they come to check him he was down to 38,1... that was all...and they give me reference to the out of h. GP they tell me wait in front and they need to call you to 20 min...I wait 1h.. From 111 doctor call me and tell me that they have appointment at 21:30... That's okay no problem... After I was there i was going on the reception and speak to the lady there and miss they're call because of that... They didn't call me again i wait 1h again in the car with crying child for they're permission to go to see him... Anyway i lose it and go home... and after 1h they call me back... Anyway no one helps me and he still is with temperature... I will call the gp tomorrow if we are still alive...

What a terrible place to take a sick child it took over a kilometre of walking to find the children's ward by This Time the child was nearly half Dead, then there were no seats in the waiting room. After complaining the nurses said we could place the child on a bed they opened this door and it was an empty ward full of empty beds. the NHS is a shambles and it is designed to make people suffer. apart from this experience the NHS killed my mother during covod when she had cancer. They said to her she can see one family member for ten mins per week

.I would like to thank all the wonderful nurses in recovery on the evening of Tuesday 3rd October you were all truly a amazing team who put me at ease to face a procedure. Thanks to the nurse who came to visit me 2 days later on Pembroke ward. Also a big thank you to Phoebe, Monica and Sophia who went above and beyond for me on Pembroke ward.

My mother in law was taking in by ambulance 4 weeks we was waiting for updates which we understand being a Saturday they are extremely busy. On the Sunday morning we couldn't get through to a &e for quick update so emailed pals, had reply to say that she was transferred to singleton through the night. More annoyed that a quick 1 min call couldn't be made what would have happened if she had of died prob still be waiting now.

Was asked to “take a seat” and eventually waited over 2 hours for my sister to be seen after a severe reaction to her air-born peanut allergy. Don’t know how a 14 year old not being able to breathe and walk wasn’t enough for them to take quicker / better action. Would give negative rating if I could.

This evening I was admitted to the Acute GP Unit by my GP. I was told to go straight there to ensure they could see to me straight away. I have had chest pain and an aching left side for the last 3 weeks. I was worried after an episode of pericarditis 18 months previous. The Doctor and nurses that dealt with me were the most productive, caring and attentive I have ever seen. I wish I had visited here 18 months ago! I get to go home tonight knowing they have looked into every concern I have raised. Thank you so much for everything you have done for me this evening. What a great team! You could see they were very busy but multi tasked and worked so well as a team they made it look easy! Again… Thank you so much xx

These nurses are fighting for a decent & fair wage since Covid. They had to put their lives on the line , they were working short-staffed every shift. Clapping to show our appreciation is a joke. They need support... When is the government going to give way...our health service is in meltdown. This should be its top priority. UK is becoming third world economy!

Lacking in car parking spaces for wheelchair pick-up, resulting in far too many vehicles being "illegally" parked and often causing unnecessary obstacles for emergency vehicles. Once inside, toilet facilities are inadequate for the number of visitors, particularly those with mobility issues or those with younger children. The wards are frequently crowded, not helped by having corridors being used to store/park trolleys, laundry bins and the like. The refreshment facilities are one small Costa cafe, which has good range of beverages and snacks, but at a price. The vending machines are similarly expensive to buy from, not always with healthy options available. On the subject of food, the hospital provides meals, but seemingly lacking range in the healthier options and if you are vegan and you are having a planned residency, it would be advantageous to bring your own food, if possible. The staff, as is well documented, are clearly 'swimming against the tide', but invariably, they perform their duties with care and compassion, regardless of the, sometimes, unpleasant nature of patients. Criticism negative and positive seems, to be taken seriously by staff members and any shortcomings that can be identified, are addressed as soon as possible, but patience towards all staff is important, the work is difficult and much more often than not, the NHS staff continue to perform miracles to help everyone

My daughter was admitted Thursday 22nd with an ongoing issue with her ovaries and cysts along with infection, she’s not eaten since then and now last night Tuesday 27th of June went into A&E at 7pm crippled with pain and sickness again with the same issues and still waiting at 6am this morning to be seen all the time the nurses were laughing and joking weighing themselves on scales and talking about their pet dogs. She asked for pain meds and she waited and waited she was curled up on a chair in the waiting area in pain and nothing!! I’m beyond disgusted and this is not the NHS that we loved and known for many years, she didn’t even get any standard care it’s shocking!!!

1 star only because I can't leave zero! My partner suffered a cruciate ligament hernia and was in severe pain, as we were in Pembrey I decided to take her to A&E, we arrived at 10.48 and waited for an hour and a half before being triage d? No examination, just blood pressure and temperature taken, how to prioritise without diagnosis baffles me. No communication with the full waiting room was forthcoming re expected waiting time etc. About 5am an announcement was made that wait for doctors was at 10 hrs and rising!! At 6.30 we decided to leave to go back to our motorhome and self treat as we could probably do better ourselves. God help any poor unfortunate that has to go to this excuse for a hospital. I saw many tears during our visit from frustration and pain, at least 2 patients were waiting in A&E for beds with cannula. Absolutely disgusting

I cannot praise the staff at Morriston (SDMU and Ward V especially) enough. I was admitted and was in great pain and distress, but the staff made me feel cared for in every way. On Ward V, I was treated like royalty, nothing was too much trouble - from the Domestic staff to the Consultant, everyone was kind, gracious, knowledgeable and good humoured, despite their enormous work load. I have nothing but immense gratitude for these dedicated professionals and hope they get the pay rise they so richly deserve , but have been deprived of by a government who appear to think that clapping on a Thursday pays the bills! My heartfelt thanks to you all. ❤

I would give a zero if I could - I have heard nothing about my wife’s health since 31st October. She's still there in the hospital after having been admitted into the hospital on 24th October and apparently, according to hospital staff, she has not wanted anyone to visit her or anyone to know what's been going on since 1st November after a lovely visit on 31st October. This has included me, her friends and family and there has been no attempt made by the hospital to re-establish contact or even give her back her phone and tablet. I have been continuously insulted by nurses and treated with disrespect e.g. slamming down phones. My wife suffers from many mental health problems and her mood can change from day to day so she may not even know that I have been trying to talk to my wife, send her my love for all this time. She's not even in a mental health ward! I have had to use a solicitor to try and re-establish my right to know how she is but the Hospital and the Hospital Board have not even answered my solicitor's letter from 5 weeks ago. We have been happily married for over 5 years and been together for over 7 years. These people have given me hell since 1st November. I could say a lot more about this stressful time.

Visited burns and plastic department recently having been referred by another hospital. Level of care was amazing, staff were friendly, helpful and reassuring. Everything was clean and sterile, wasn’t kept waiting and all questions were answered. Have other medical problems so have visited a few hospitals in Wales, this department has been the best!

Shocking standards at this hospital for inpatients and their families. Avoid if you can. Deserves a negative star rating. I couldn't make sense why they wouldn't allow visitors. On collecting my dear grandfather's belongings after he passed away, it seems the greatest risk to patients is the hospital itself not visitors. Hiding behind covid for their own failures and disgusting standards it seems. Do better.

Was sent to a&e as an emergency on Tuesday by my GP as have as severe lower back and pelvic pain for the last week, was sent up and had an emergency MRI which showed I have a herniated disc which is bulging into my nerve, the hospital staff of Tuesday offered for me to either stay in or go home with a lot of strong pain relief and to come back if it gets any worse or doesn’t get any better, I took the option to take the pain relief and try and manage at home and was advised to go straight back to be admitted if I need to and there’d be a bed somewhere in the hospital for me. So now as for tonight, after suffering severely all day not being able to move at all and the pain being incredibly worse I’m even having to urinate in an incontinence pad because I can’t move to get to the toilet in time. So I went to a&e and explained what was wrong and what I was advised on Tuesday, was seen by triage and the woman said they’d get the orthopaedic doctor to come and see me so that I didn’t have to wait another 7 hours when they already advised me to come back if needed, I waited an hour in agony in a&e sitting in a wheelchair in constant pain and so uncomfortable before asking my partner to go knock and see how long they’d be as I couldn’t wait much longer. A nurse then told my doctor I have to wait 7 hours again to see a doctor! To which I replied no that’s not what we’ve been advised, was called into one of the rooms in a&e and the head nurse came in, well what a delight (NOT!) she was! Came in all full of it saying I can’t demand a bed! I explained I was time that I could come back if the pain gets worse for a bed and that I’m in agony and can’t sit in a wheelchair for hours, to which she smirked at me telling me my attitude is not acceptable?! IM IN AGONY! And was trying to explain what I’d been advised and that I cannot wait any longer because I’m suffering! To which she said I’m more than welcome to leave and that she’d call security! In the end I did shout at her and told her she was disgusting (which she absolutely is!) and asked my partner to take me to Bridgend! To which she continued having attitude with me in front of the WHOLE A&E department for everyone to see! Telling other patients “some people have no manners” no love YOU ARE THE ONE WITH NO MANNERS! YOU NEED THE SACK YOUR A DISGRACE TO THE WHOLE HISPITAL! I thought nurses and doctors where suppose to have empathy and show respect to their patients well what a joke! And then to top it off she calls me after I leave to say “I’ve phoned Bridgend hospital to warn them about your abusive behaviour and put an ASBO on your record! Honestly what a joke of a human being! I will be appealing against this and I’ll be taking this all the way! Good luck to you that’s all I can say! Disgusting woman!

The hospital now has prayer areas for men and women. It is located just after main entrance - look for the sign on the ceiling. As you enter there is a small room for ablution. Ladies can use the sign “vacant” on the door handle. Last photo shows the area for ladies you can pull the curtains and pray. For this I’d give it 5 star as it makes life so much easier. The 3 stars is because I don’t like the fact that they moved children’s ward here. Singleton was much easier to get to. I mean, I know it was 14 years ago 😬 but still not happy with that decision. Also parking is still terrible and they have changed the catering times since Covid. With such a busy hospital especially people stuck in A&E and children’s PAU/Wards they should have kept the original time. Shoutout to all the staff in PAU/Oakwood/Ward M! They do such a great job in taking care of the children. They have been fantastic over the years. Not a single complaint. ThanQ! 👏🏽

Was referred today by 111 for an abscess on my face from a dental issue. We were quickly seen in the minor injuries unit at a and e and sent for an x ray. Our lady doctor was really friendly and efficient and sorted me out with some medication to my relief. The whole process was dealt with very quickly and I would highly recommend this hospital. Thanks Tonia C

My daughter has been in Morison twice and on both occasions there has been a catalog of errors resulting in having to have half her foot off. Today she has been discharged from there only to be sent back to hospital (thankfully) not Morison but Withybush Hospital. The doctors and nurses and care team are discusseded and say she should have never been discharged in her condition. We are taking this to the most highest complaints department

Leah gave me the help i needed and have been looking for for weeks and even ran extra tests to check EVERYTHING. I never write reviews but leah, was amazing!!!

Arrived at the hospital expecting a nightmare to park but got a space immediately. Got to the ward 5 mins before the appointment time and reception said go straight in they're ready. Saw a lovely doctor and was out after just a few minutes after being given good news that nothing needs to be done. Absolutely fabulous service today. Smiles off all the staff and volunteers. Cannot give enough praise. Well done to everyone.

First if all I will get one thing straight I have no complaints about the care staff that are dealing directly with my mother on a day to day basis they all seem wonderful and caring a special thank you to Mercy who is a ray of sunshine on the ward. It is the total lack of communication and competence of the people above that are the problem. The system is definitely broken . Disgraceful lack of compassion and coordination . The fundamentals of care from cradle to the grave don't seem to count once you have got old. Bean counters rule by the feel of it . Lack of funding and lack of organisation has broken this system. To say that I am angry with being fobbed off and not having answers to questions put or people getting back to me who should. Meetings for me to attend only giving me 15 minutes notice that they are even going to happen. Just about says it all . It does not pay to try to do the right thing in this country any more . .

My father is currently in this hospital and the treatment he is receiving is contrary to national guidelines. He is being fluid that has the equivalent salt content of 25 bags of crisps - way above any guidelines- this excessive increase in salt is affecting his kidneys and making him confused. The clinicians here have no idea about intravenous fluids and National guidelines. Their ignorance on how and what IV fluid my father should have is actually causing him to deteriorate. Unfortunately this is not an isolated case. As published 1 in 5 patients will get complications due to the poor fluid management given to them. This needs to be addressed urgently

Went for an MRI on my crumbling knees. I was only waiting ten minutes and had to go on the mobile van MRI machine. I find stairs hard to get up and down so they used the hydrolic lift to get me in and out. The staff where lovely and the MRI took longer than the actual waiting. All in all not a bad part of the hospital at all 🙂

Shocking. Had to wait on a seat for 11 hours with discolated shoulder and fracture. In agony. Had surgery following day and was out within 24 hours. Still can't move arm or fingers. Did not show me how to fit the sling. Told them I wasn't ready to be let out as in agony but they gave my bed to a foreigner...........

Referred from another hospital to the burns unit a few years ago. This was due to a dark time in my life which I’ve recovered from. For NHS it’s possible not update with negative attitude towards any issues concerning mental problems, it was decided that a deep clean was required before opening back up a post operation room was deep with different viruses that we’re eating away at patients when awaiting recovery, Honestly don’t know if that’s been done. Though the newest extension was opened last year though in 2018 had my wife and I were referred to Morriston after an Rta once’s it was realised they fast forward her as they were looking for Money from my insurance company even the police report stated that it wasn’t my fault. They seemed more interested with insurance details than checking my chest as I’d hit the streering wheel with my chest at 38 mph though air bag did deploy though it was the seat belt had failed hence bad blow to chest also wife wrist was damaged and after 5-6 days they changed her dressing though reminded me of the cost. To be open minded the NHS seems over loaded and it’s about time the NHS was run as a private concern as it would enhance there budget also been operated as a Private company you’d definitely get more fairer system as since Co-vid . It’s definitely gone down hill.

Due to no fault of their own there was a very long wait in A&E, but as soon as i was called and dealt with the staff were nothing short of amazing. My first doctor Izzy was lovely, spoke me through everything and made me feel very settled. Francis was great, finding me a bed and checking up on me through my stay. My nearly 2 night stay on the "ward" was as good as it could possibly be. Julianna was so welcoming and warm, she made me feel so comfortable during my stay and was there to help me with anything i needed. The other nurses on the ward, whose names i did not catch, who also dealt with me were equally as nice and kind. I can't commend these 3 Doctors/ nurses, i'm not sure, enough. They are a real credit to the hospital staff- they managed to fit me in and give me treatment, during a chaotic weekend- whilst short of staff. Nothing was too much to ask for whilst i was staying, and i felt completely at ease. Apart from all the needles- i could actually say i enjoyed myself haha. But really, thank you so much.

My wife hasn't been allowed any visitors in hospital or even allowed to have a phone call with anyone either. I believe that Covid has been used as an excuse for not allowing any visitors. This is not a caring hospital at all and does not even deserve a 1 star rating.

I recently had an accident with an angle grinder and cut through 2 tendons and a nerve on my left hand. I was referred to the plastic surgery dept, they were superb and I cannot thank them enough for the surgery the team there performed. My 93 year old father was admitted 1 week ago with fractured pubic rami and fractured head of fibula . Tracey greeted us at reception who kindly asked to go around to minor injuries . The department was unbelievably busy 14 +ambulances outside and staff incredibly running around . We were seen in minor injuries and assessed by A wonderful caring nurse who sent us to X-ray . Again another nurse Julie was so kind and assessed my dads needs . Sian the A and E occupational therapist ( truly amazing individual too )came to assess my dad and was unsafe to come home . He stayed for 3 nights in the OPAS ward . They were truly incredible there also where he had time with the physio . What a fantastic and much needed service . He was discharged home . Unfortunately he developed a chest infection the day after and was re admitted via A and E again . The paramedics were more than excellent and was seen in resus by the Registrar Dr Kieran ( sorry about the spelling)who was so kind to my dad and explained everything ( same humour as my dad which made his stay more comfortable) The attention and care that my dad received in this truly amazing department was excellent. The staff here work under extreme incredible pressures . Please look after them . Diolch , Angharad and family

I’ve spent the last 2 days in Clydach ward, Morriston hospital. I can’t speak highly enough about all the members of staff working there. They were all amazing and really looked after me, making my stay as comfortable and stress free as possible. Thank you all!!!
