We
have
stayed
at
Shrigley
Hall
twice
now
and
on
both
occasions
we
have
had
a
great
stay.
The
hotel
is
located
on
the
edge
of
the
peak
district
national
park,
this
means
that
it
is
surrounded
by
beautiful
picturesque
views
wherever
you
look,
views
that
have
to
be
seen
to
be
appreciated.
The
hotel
has
an
excellent
balance
between
period
correct
decor
and
up
to
date
decor
in
the
restaurant
(where
breakfast
is
served).
Our
room
was
a
standard
room
and
had
all
the
amenities
you
would
expect.
There
are
a
few
reviews
that
describe
the
rooms
as
"dated"
but
you
have
to
take
into
consideration
that
they
are
in
keeping
with
the
rest
of
the
hall,
although
we
did
think
they
could
do
with
a
bit
of
a
deep
clean,
but
overall
the
room
was
acceptable.
The
restaurant
was
nice,
especially
if
you
sit
at
the
top
of
the
stairs
near
the
bar
as
it's
quieter,
the
2
course
dinner
was
very
nice
and
we
ate
on
both
evenings
and
enjoyed
all
of
the
courses,
the
menu
changed
on
both
nights,
the
mains
stayed
the
same
but
the
starters
and
the
desserts
changed
and
there
was
a
decent
choice
on
both
evenings.
The
breakfast
was
a
standard
buffet
breakfast
and
was
enjoyable.
There
was
2
major
differences
between
our
first
visit
in
2019
and
or
latest
one
in
2022
and
they
were
firstly
the
staff,
in
2019
there
was
not
many
staff
members
and
this
meant
that
they
seemed
to
be
stretched
quite
thin,
however
on
our
latest
visit
this
was
not
the
case,
the
hotel
was
very
busy
with
3
weddings
during
our
stay
and
not
once
did
we
feel
like
the
staff
couldn't
cope,
there
was
always
someone
to
help
if
required
and
all
the
staff
members
we
dealt
with
were
very
courteous,
helpful
and
attentive.
The
second
major
difference
was
with
the
spa,
this
is
where
the
majority
of
the
investment
has
been
spent
in
the
hotel
and
it
shows.
On
our
first
visit
the
spa
was
included
in
the
price,
there
is
now
an
extra
cost
for
the
spa
but
there
are
also
different
options
so
there
is
something
available
for
most
budgets
we
opted
for
the
twilight
spot
which
was
quite
busy,
but
when
you
see
the
view
from
the
beautiful
heated
outdoor
pool
at
sunset
you
understand
why,
for
us
this
was
worth
the
extra
cost
and
we
would
highly
recommend
it
to
anyone
that
visits
the
hotel.
To
sum
up,
yes
there
are
a
few
areas
where
things
could
be
better
but
on
the
whole
they
are
very
small
and
inconsequential
when
you
consider
the
age
of
the
beautiful
building
you
are
staying
in.
The
restaurant
and
the
food
is
very
nice
and
the
waiting
staff
are
always
there
and
happy
to
help
but
the
spa
is
where
the
hotel
really
shines
and
is
most
definitely
worth
a
visit.
Although
I
agree
with
some
aspects
of
other
reviews
I
think
it's
only
fair
to
be
a
little
lenient
in
a
post
covid
world
where
the
leisure
and
hospitality
industry
have
been
put
under
pressure
and
need
help
now
more
than
ever,
that's
why
my
wife
is
arranging
another
visit
to
Shrigley
Hall
with
her
mother
and
sister
for
a
spa
weekend
and
we
will
most
certainly
be
visiting
as
a
couple
again
as
soon
as
we
can.
A
huge
thank
you
to
all
staff
at
the
hotel
but
especially
to
Emma
on
reception
who
was
amazing
and
very
helpful.
