Such a sad place. We’ve been many times and had some amazing experiences although this was 10years ago. Our latest visit we decided to use the spa facilities. The place hadn’t been cleaned the previous night, empty glasses and rubbish strewn across the floors. In the corner near the hot tub (inside) was a pile of vomit. We ventured outside and noticed the entrance to the outdoor pool was like an ice rink, I went back inside and asked for towels to be put down as someone was about to break an ankle. Nothing happened. We went to the little cafe and asked for a couple of pastries (anyone would’ve thought we’d asked for her kidney) she just didn’t want to be. The gents changing rooms are filthy, three of the showers don’t work and it’s freezing. The bar inside the hotel, is just a joke. The prices they charge (like everyone else) are super high which I don’t mind but what bugs me is they serve you with childrens sized glasses. The food in the bar area is woeful. All in all, just avoid the place for a year or so and see if it improves.

We have stayed at Shrigley Hall twice now and on both occasions we have had a great stay. The hotel is located on the edge of the peak district national park, this means that it is surrounded by beautiful picturesque views wherever you look, views that have to be seen to be appreciated. The hotel has an excellent balance between period correct decor and up to date decor in the restaurant (where breakfast is served). Our room was a standard room and had all the amenities you would expect. There are a few reviews that describe the rooms as "dated" but you have to take into consideration that they are in keeping with the rest of the hall, although we did think they could do with a bit of a deep clean, but overall the room was acceptable. The restaurant was nice, especially if you sit at the top of the stairs near the bar as it's quieter, the 2 course dinner was very nice and we ate on both evenings and enjoyed all of the courses, the menu changed on both nights, the mains stayed the same but the starters and the desserts changed and there was a decent choice on both evenings. The breakfast was a standard buffet breakfast and was enjoyable. There was 2 major differences between our first visit in 2019 and or latest one in 2022 and they were firstly the staff, in 2019 there was not many staff members and this meant that they seemed to be stretched quite thin, however on our latest visit this was not the case, the hotel was very busy with 3 weddings during our stay and not once did we feel like the staff couldn't cope, there was always someone to help if required and all the staff members we dealt with were very courteous, helpful and attentive. The second major difference was with the spa, this is where the majority of the investment has been spent in the hotel and it shows. On our first visit the spa was included in the price, there is now an extra cost for the spa but there are also different options so there is something available for most budgets we opted for the twilight spot which was quite busy, but when you see the view from the beautiful heated outdoor pool at sunset you understand why, for us this was worth the extra cost and we would highly recommend it to anyone that visits the hotel. To sum up, yes there are a few areas where things could be better but on the whole they are very small and inconsequential when you consider the age of the beautiful building you are staying in. The restaurant and the food is very nice and the waiting staff are always there and happy to help but the spa is where the hotel really shines and is most definitely worth a visit. Although I agree with some aspects of other reviews I think it's only fair to be a little lenient in a post covid world where the leisure and hospitality industry have been put under pressure and need help now more than ever, that's why my wife is arranging another visit to Shrigley Hall with her mother and sister for a spa weekend and we will most certainly be visiting as a couple again as soon as we can. A huge thank you to all staff at the hotel but especially to Emma on reception who was amazing and very helpful.

The reviews speak for itself. The most dirtiest hotel in all of Europe. Please do not waste your money. There are much better hotels to stay at and with better views! The hotel has not been cleaned in many years, rooms are not cleaned, stains all over the surfaces, blood stains in the bathroom, towels are not replaced, bed sheets are not changed, dirt and dust build up on the carpets, and bugs in the room. When explaining this to the manger, he said "oh well maybe they forgot to change the towels". They are currently doing a renovation as the hotel is extremely old so they clearly do not care about cleaning the rooms as the mentality is "will it is getting renovated anyways so why bother to clean". Manager James was great at compensating us as we decided to leave (for very obvious reasons). I have no idea who gave this hotel 4 stars but it is a 1 star at most. You can can see the crowd they appeal so the hotel doesn't exactly have to do much to please this certain crowd. As this crowd is just happy to be at a "four star" hotel and get drunk in the dirty pool. Good luck if you are staying here and check for bugs!!

Went for a overnight spa experience with evening meal included and breakfast. The price was well worth. Also experienced some treatments. The place is lovely and very historical the grounds outside are magnificent and a golf course. There's just a few areas that need a little titivating. As I have a eye for detail. Otherwise a very pleasant and the staff are very pleasant and helpful.

Loved the experience of staying here. It was a birthday treat from my partner. He had upgraded us to an executive room. On arrival 3.15 pm our room wasn't ready but we were allocated an alternative room, on reflection I'm not sure it was an executive room, but pleasant enough. The rooms of course are traditionally decorated and don't feel modern or that opulent. Tea and coffee making facilities are in the rooms. Hairdryer and iron too. Very basic bathroom supplies, body/hair wash x 2 no body cream or anything else which is unusual. Plenty of hot water and decent shower though. We didn't eat here in the evening, but breakfast was very nice as was the afternoon tea that we had booked separately. The pool, sauna etc is at an additional cost and we had booked it 7am for the following morning, that was a real treat and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Overall a lovely place, great grounds, very friendly staff. I would visit again even if just on a spa day.

We only came for a spa experience. It was disappointing. All of the pools were barely warm, even the hot tub. The outside pool has view of Manchester but its too cold to stay out in. Sauna was also really small so hard to get in. Probably because it was the only warm place. Luckily we visited on a voucher, full price is a rip off.

I brought my lovely mum here for her birthday for a well deserved spa break. She was quite anxious as she’s never been to anything like this before. I am very disappointed and upset with our experience that we received yesterday from who I believe was the manager. She was very abrupt from start to finish. My mum doesn’t drink alcohol and I asked what we could have instead after being told we could’ve possibly had an non alcoholic gin ( I would’ve paid extra) but she said that that wasn’t offered on the package which is fine but her attitude when I said she doesn’t drink alcohol was ‘ doesn’t she drink soft drinks’ with a attitude. There was no reason for this whatsoever, of course my mum drinks soft drinks I was just seeing what options we had regarding the non alcoholic gin. We then had something to eat which was lovely and went on to enjoy the pool. The pool was dirty the tiles need a good clean. We then got out and decided we wanted a coffee and a cake to finish our evening. We then got to the bar area to order and was looking at the cakes and again got greeted from the same women ‘ did you want something’ to my mum. At this point I was absolutely fuming. Her attitude is disgusting. When we got to the bar at what I believe was 16 minutes past 8 to be told the bar had closed. I wasn’t aware of this as there is nothing stated in the email that I received from booking. She then said ‘ I’ll just serve you’ she served us we then got our drinks and sat down and then she continued to serve other people? You’ve obviously not closed then. I am absolutely disgusted with the service/attitude we received and felt so sorry for my mum as it really upset her and spoilt our evening. Never seen anything like it in my life.

What an absolutely beautiful place!! The beds are the biggest beds I've ever seen, and so, so comfy. The rooms look and smell like they've just been renovated (new paint and carpet smell) and they are absolutely beautiful. We went into the spa 7am-9am and the outdoor infinity pool is just top notch. Literally felt like I was in a bath watching the world go by. Such a beautiful area of the spa. We had food in the restaurant in the evening and it was gorgeous. Absolutely beautiful food. Definitely recommend the smash burger. Yum!! For breakfast it is a self service buffet style, and it's stunning. Continuously being replenished too!! There is tonnes to do around the area of the hall, walks, golf etc. and it's really beautiful. We will definitely be back soon!! Thank you to all the amazing staff for making our time there so special xx

So wish I’d read the reviews before I booked into this hotel. A lesson learned. I paid £189:57 for an overnight stay, which I’d have been happy enough to pay had we not been dumped right at the back of the hotel! So, a long awkward walk up various flights of stairs! The room itself was exceptionally Tired. The bathroom even more so. Awful The biggest complaint being the shower which simply didn’t work. After mentioning this at reception when leaving I was told they’d mention it to maintenance & next time I visit I’d get a room at the front of the hotel. Sadly that is never going to happen as they couldn’t be bothered to get it right first time. No offers of compensation!

Beautiful location and building with so much potential to be top class .Not spotless in rooms.water marks in bathroom on dark tiles .very badly painted wardrobes. Blood stained mattress so got moved to another better front room instead of being next to kitchen extractor fan .Breakfast was self-service so bacon sausage blackpudding eggs under heated lamps all dried and rock hard .... Out door infinity and infernal pools nice but sauna needs a good scrub and curtains need a good clean .what a shame but we still enjoyed our stay.

Great outdoor jacuzzi and restaurant. Indoor area spa not a lot was working on the visit.! maintenance definitely needs to be a priority. Address simple maintenance with the prices and should be good. Was not offered a discount with not much working but disappointing

Came to celebrate my wedding anniversary with my husband. The hotel is beautiful, beautiful location, spa experience was nice too but the food was not nice. The dining experience was horrid, never ask a steak! The staff very young and inexperienced, service slow and not really happy faces serving you. The rooms were not really clean. I found lots of hair that didn’t belong to me. Also not a fridge in the room. Would not return.

Such a mixed experience at this place, first of all I’d like to start with the positive side. We arrive a little early and was told the room wasn’t ready for another hour which was fine, we sat and had drinks and was served by Andy who was nothing short of amazing! He explained the dynamics of the place and where everything was and made us feel so welcome. The spa was also amazing made us feel very welcome and massage was the best I’ve ever had ! The infinity pool is stunning and so warm throughly enjoyed the spa. The room was okay, very basic no coffee or drinks in the room, very very very hot at night, very much so that I couldn’t sleep. Windows open and radiator turned completely off. It was very noisy through the night and as a light sleeper, I struggled to sleep, someone tried our door at 5:00am which really freaked us out as two women on our own. We found dirty knickers in the wardrobe. The staff in the restaurant was so rude and looked me and my friend up and down. I think this was maybe down to us being on the younger side. One of the staff members that was working doing the breakfast actively slagged off what I was wearing and when I looked at her she carried on. Wish I had said something there and then but I actually felt so embarrassed that they had so much to say about a 27 year old women. I wouldn’t stay there again and it’s such a shame as has the potential to be an amazing break.

My experience here was anything but clean and nice. The location is so pretty and whimsical. On the notion that we'd booked a room in the main building, we realized upon arrival that we were located at the back in the basement. Not the nicest room. Bathroom was so dirty and gross. Room smelt bad. Beds were springy. Not to mention the thin walls. We could hear people talking really loudly and people using the bathroom. How disturbing. I'm sure rooms in the main building are much nicer, so make sure to only book one of those. Service was nice, and breakfast was alright. Nothing special. I would not stay again.

Absolutely wonderful stay for an overnight spa getaway. The room was lovely, the food was great and the spa was fantastic. The surroundings of the hotel are beautiful, especially during Autumn. The outdoor infinity pool was the highlight as we had it to ourselves for a good half hour, it was amazing!

Stayed recently, booked a "classic" double room which should have been called a basic room, the heating didn't work, tepid hot water, not good. The room had not been cleaned thoroughly but the bed was very comfortable, breakfast was reasonable. Very disappointed. Not disabled friendly, the walk from the car park was some distance and up a steep footpath, only two disabled spaces near the reception.

Stayed for a golf weekend. Great course. Rooms good but paper-thin walls. Food good but very limited choice off the break menu. Excellent breakfast. Very pricey beer which fortunately we got a golf discount on.

Absolutely beautiful location, staff super friendly and helpful and the rooms were clean and in our case freshly refurbished. We stayed on a dinner bed and breakfast deal with morning Spa access, all the food we had was really good, with a decent dinner selection, the buffet breakfast was one of the best ones I’ve had, not greasy or cold but freshly cooked and a good selection. The spa facilities were really good and the heated outdoor infinity pool looks out across the grounds, it was lush. Totally relaxed and will definitely come back. Thanks !

We got married at Shrigley Hall last Friday and had an absolutely amazing time. Paige was amazing throughout the whole period from booking the venue to the wedding day. On the day Amon was fantastic making sure we knew what was going on, make guests welcome and running the day for us. We can’t thank all the staff, from reception to catering to service, enough. We stayed in the junior suite with the balcony which I would highly recommend for bridal party getting ready. It’s huge and the natural lighting is amazing.

Nice hotel, but the drinks are expensive. We stayed one night, the room was clean, although a standard double bed it was ok for 1 night. Nice shower. Food was lovely, beef was very tender. Nice staff.

Had lunch in main restaurant before golf. Nice food and ambiance. Golf however not so great. Course was to busy. 3 hours front 9 so decided to do front 9 again instead of waiting on every tee for another 3 hours

What a beautiful place, in wonderful surroundings. The hotel was beautiful, the staff were friendly and helpful and the service was great. We had a wonderful evening meal and afternoon tea and we were really impressed with both. The breakfast was good ingredients but was a buffet style and seemed dry, as if it had been sitting too long. We were in a refurbished room but this felt a bit cheaply done and there was a hole in the carpet, this was a shame. However, this didn't take away from the overall experience which was wonderful.

Enjoyed a wedding reception here. The location was really good with some impressive views from the Spa area. The staff were all very helpful. The only issue is its size. The 3rd floor is very inaccessible if you happen to take the left hand lift from reception. Even then it's not easy. I wasn't the only guest to express this.

A wonderful and picturesque setting, whatever time of year. Historical and magical, very interesting and a few stories that staff can share if asked. Food fantastic. Great options for omnivores, could do with expanding veggie options on lunch and dinner menu's. Breakfast is plentiful, and provide veggie if shared at booking and staff updated on arrival to dinning room. Staff are all very lovely, and helpful. Spoke to many from; housekeeping, Spa, beautician, reception, bar staff and waiting on. Good teams.. lovely people. Spa is outstanding. I had a wonderful facial. My skin was glowing and beautician gentle and chatty in a welcome and warm way, not overly for me and felt she read the room perfectly. Plenty of people here for various reasons whis shows the variation catered for. A great getaway.. too good not to try at least twice.. 😍

Really lovely day with a friend. We went for the Elemis spa day which included a facial and massage. The treatments were lovely and relaxing. We had a cream tea which was lovely , although my friend doesn’t like cream so a pastry would have be a good second option. It was busy but comfortable. The setting is beautiful, huge car park and easily accessible. I would recommend a visit, either for the day or on one of the overnight offers.

Visited for afternoon tea. Stunning building, beautiful location. Spa also looks amazing! Service was great, no complaints. Afternoon tea was poor. Sandwiches were miniscule and dry. Didn't taste very fresh. Overall the amount of food was really small compared to other places we've been. Afternoon tea for two was a bit of a stretch. Unless it was for two mice? Other than that looks like a lovely venue for a function or wedding.

Our stay at Shrigley Hall was incredible. This was mine and my partners first spa stay, and we are both a bit anxious. It was nice how comfortable my therapist Julie made me feel in the spa and how relaxed we both felt after our treatments. Julie was even kind enough to give me tips to try at home. She is a credit to the company. The service across the whole hotel and spa was brilliant and the food was delicious. The chicken dish served in the restaurant was 11/10. On top of all this the location, hotel and spa are all beautiful. Can’t recommend this place enough.

It was a fabulous weekend- you do however need to be able to walk a distance from your room to the reception and to the spa etc- because its a massive place! If you are not fit or can't walk far, unless you are in a wheelchair you may not find it so easy. I enjoyed the challenge and hope to use it as a springboard to start my new keep-fit regime. Stunning scenery everywhere- inside and outside. ..

Firstly - really confused about all the bad reviews. We got back from a one night stay this afternoon. We have ZERO complaints. Reception staff were lovely and very informative. Dinner was really nice, all the staff were polite and couldn’t do more for you. The hotel itself is really beautiful. We stayed in a refurbished room which was modern, clean and comfortable had a little visitor outside our window of the resident peacocks. Please ignore the reviews and see for yourself. We used the spa this morning - it was a shame one of the jacuzzi’s wasn’t working but the outdoor pool had a large area of jacuzzi jets.

  • 3/5 Rachel D. 6 months ago on Google
We went for an evening spa. Although the spa is in a lovely setting it seems past it's best. The outdoor pool has a beautiful outlook but was too cold to sit in for more than a couple of minutes which was a real disappointment. The indoor jacuzzi only had two jets working and there was no sign of a sauna. They ask you to wear slippers but didn't provide any, and no hooks to hand your robe. No water fountains around the spa. The changing rooms were far too small to have everyone asked to leave at the same time, no chance of a shower without a long queue. Overall we had a nice time, but it didn't justify the luxury price tag and no warning that parts were not working.

  • 4/5 Clare H. 6 months ago on Google
We enjoyed the evening spa. We were given a robe but asked for flip flops as had forgotten our own. The facilities were nice. The outside pool had a great view but was quite cool.

Beautiful place for afternoon tea. Staff are so friendly and welcoming. Lovely setting with a beautiful tree in the centre of the room. Gorgeous views over the countryside. The people who work there are so accommodating. Great afternoon tea, would definitely recommend and return in the future. Nicely decorated at Christmas time with lovely festive music. Cosy and warm throughout the restaurant with nice lighting.

The weekend spa break is great value for money. We were a little unlucky, both hot tubs were out of action when we visited which was a shame. The massages were fantastic, I just wish there were more options on the menu for the spa break - there were only 2 facials and 2 back treatments on the menu so if I returned, I'd have the same treatments again and would be nice to try new! The food is decent even if the menu is restrictive and the room was clean aside from a couple of cobwebs on the ceiling above the bed. There are some lovely walks nearby, but I advise not walking anywhere near the golf course as the golfers are quite territorial and shouted at us for walking on the path. When I checked if we were allowed to walk on the path, we were told that was fine as long as we don't actually go on the course (which we didn't). Overall, had a fantastic time and would return. It was a perfect local getaway for us. Would be 5 stars if not for the few tiny niggles I mentioned! Maybe next time! ✨😊

Another fabulous visit. Lovely sunny afternoon spent in the Spas thermal pool & on the loungers with a delicious lunch & drinks. Great atmosphere. We had a lovely suite which was really comfortable & clean. Reception & main restaurant staff were really lovely people. Love Shrigley Hall & it's beautiful grounds. Lovely menu at dinner & a large selection at breakfast. Which was really tasty. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. & would definitely recommend

Enjoyed our twilight spa session! Outdoor pool felt like we were in Ibiza. Really nice vibes, chilling with a cocktail watching the sun set. It felt more of a hangout than spa like. Indoor facilities were quite (everyone outside!) The jacuzzi, pool and sauna were lovely and the cabana we chose relaxing. The steam room wasn’t steamy and smelt interesting (didn’t say anything as we moved on to the sauna…. So not sure if it’s a one off that it was like this). Changing facilities clean. Will definitely go again. Great place to catch up with friends and great price for use of the facilities.

Shrigley Hall is a fantastic setting, beautiful views tucked away high up. The spa is a Chapel setting and very relaxing with an outdoor heated pool. The rooms are dated but the hotel staff were fantastic to resolve any issues. We were not happy with our initial room so they changed it straight away. The breakfast was good too.

Meal on 1st night was good . Our room was fine , however the hotel is tired looking and a bit far out from anywhere., Which was lovely during the day , but didn't suit us in the evening. Being too quiet. Personally wouldn't recommend it The staff are very friendly and polite especially Charlotte in reception. She was so helpful and polite.

Stayed for 3 nights 6/9June 2022.Absolutely stunning hotel & the grounds it sits in.If you want peace & tranquility this is your place to go.We loved the woodland walk & we spent every evening by the lake having a drink it was like another world. We arrived to a lovely warm welcome from Lucy on reception, truly a lovely person nothing was too much trouble. We would also like to thank Emma for finding us a room for our requirements. We ate in the restaurant on the 1st night, food was delicious & so we're the breakfasts each morning. Can't comment on the spa because we didn't try it but it looked amazing. We will definitely be back for another stay soon.

I was at a company event at Shrigley Hall. The bedrooms were clean but very tired decor. Location and surroundings were wonderful. Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner meals were tasty and plentiful and service was very good. Unfortunately I stayed in the "extension" wing where the shower water was freezing cold and no matter how long I ran it, it remained bitterly cold. Hence the 3 star review.

We had our daughters wedding here! We want to thank you for a truly magical day! We booked the wedding before covid and every step of the way they have been brill. The day ran so well, was so planed to the last detail. We can’t thank the toast master enough, He was brilliant, put everyone at ease. Would highly recommend the venue, the hotel is beautiful. The food was amazing, plenty to go around. My daughter truly had the wedding of her dreams.

Played golf here for the first time, absolutely loved it, started off with a superb bacon butty and a coffee. The tee boxes, fairways and greens were in great shape considering the heavy rain on the previous days. We all had a good day which was topped off back in the clubhouse with a few drinks and a singalong with a crowd of Welsh golfers enjoying their captains weekend. Looking forward to playing again.

I had a work conference at this place. Beautiful building and very open grounds. Room was nice and modern but I heard they have some older looking ones too. Staff were helpful, friendly and made sure we enjoyed our stay. A bit pricey but I'd probably go again.

My mum had here honeymoon here 25 years ago and I took her back here to see it again and she had nothing but positives to say. All of the staff were lovely and very attentive and the building is beautiful. It's location is prime and the pubs in the surrounding villages make for an excellent evening meal as the only downside to the hotel is that if you aren't all-inclusive, dinner becomes very expensive! Overall, a great stay for the money you spend and I'd recommend it to anyone looking.

My wife and I, together with our daughter and her partner, attended at Shrigley Hall for afternoon tea on 25th November. Never been before, but what an amazing venue. Absolutely stunning setting, and from what we saw of the interior, very smart and impressive. The staff were very obliging and friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. On learning that it was my wife's birthday they put together a small tray of cake and sweets nicely decorated, and presented it to my wife. A lovely gesture. The afternoon tea was well presented and delightful. A thoroughly enjoyable afternoon in wonderful surroundings. Thank you Shrigley Hall and staff, we will definitely be coming back, and we would recommend this to anyone.

We had a weekend spa break..beautiful grounds absolutely stunning hotel full of history and character..we had a deluxe double which was at the front of the hotel over looking the golf course which was a lovely surprise..we unlike others were so pleased our room was in keeping with the age of the building and not filled with modern decor..it was clean, bed was so comfy and overall happy with everything. The spa is great and we had 4 treatments which were fabulous. Food is good, breakfast could do with being a bit warmer but that's just me who likes everything molten. Had a wonderful break and will definitely be coming back..thank you

Went for a works Xmas party. The food was delicious (fantastic vegan options) staff were very helpful and friendly. The place itself is a little traditional (dated with lots of dark wood furniture, just not my kind of nice ) however it is spotlessly clean and set in the most spectacular location. Although we didn’t go in the spa the outdoor pool looked amazing

Relaxing break, breathtaking views. Fantastic golf course. Room upgrade’s acceptable, food delicious. Spa was a great treat and definitely stay again. Still needs some renovations throughout where seems tired but all in all can see what has already been done over the years. The outdoor jacuzzi pool is one of the biggest improvements to offer.

Beautiful scenic location. The hotel is a lovely building. Staff were great. Polite, happy and focused on the job. Evening meals were delicious. Breakfast on the 2nd day was great but on the 1st morning it was a bit dry. Prices for a glass or a bottle of wine are pretty expensive. Overall really good 2 days.

Evening meal was lovely and top class. Breakfast was disappointing, not enough hot options like scrambled egg, etc.. Bacon and sausages looked burnt. Some areas are looking tired and in need of love. Shame as staff are genuinely nice but owners need to invest in the whole experience and not just the spa and golf course.

This is not a four star hotel, by any stretch of the imagination. There’s dust and stuff littered all over the carpets, the interiors are straight out of the 80s and you have to pay extra for the pool. Had better experiences at premier inns for a fraction of the price. Avoid.

This is a very large hotel in an excellent location with excellent grounds and a very good golf course. Our room was in the top of the building. The decor of our room and surrounding areas was very tired (Particularly the window frames in our room) Food was satisfactory and staff were friendly. The highlight was the breakfast.

Perfect experience from start to finish in the spa! I had a springtime blossom package with farzy and I can honestly say it was the best massage I have ever had, her knowledge and expertise was amazing, I wish every spa had someone as good! We were greeted so lovely, everything was clean and staff buzzing around to maintain this, all with a smile. Safe to say we will be back regularly! You should all be proud of what you give to everyone entering the spa for relaxation, because this is exactly what we got and it was much needed! Thank you!

Came here on a spa break after booking a 2 night stay on spa seekers. This place was absolutely lovely. The road is very bendy to drive up so be aware upon visiting. Upon arrival the staff were lovely and very helpful for helping us understand the layout of the hotel. We arrived in our room and the hotel is 4 star but the rooms are only 3. The room did what it needed, the only thing was there was no bath just a shower, and also the window handle was broken. The room heated up lovely once turned the radiators on too. For the restaurant breakfast is great. However, When we arrived at the restaurant for our evening meal both nights there isn't always staff waiting to show you to your table so you can be waiting for that. The food does taste good, but the service is slow. The waiting staff are all young and they don't know the soup of the day, what lagers are available etc. It just comes across like it's their first job and I am patient, but to say they're working in a 4 star hotel I would expect them to know the soup of the day etc. The drinks are also expensive. On the day we attended the spa we was really impressed. The spa staff were lovely. The spa is also quiet which is great. We had 2 treatments and they were stunning. They have male therapists as well which I quite like because it shows diversity and I've never had one before. We also got to be in a double treatment room. The outdoor pool is included with the spa and it is heated. Really would recommend the spa. The only thing is we couldn't find the sauna, only the steam room. We also couldn't find the gym anywhere at all. Overall it was an enjoyable trip. It's a posh and romantic atmosphere, good food, lovely spa. It will take something good to top this spa break off

Was here for a wake and the food, service and location were perfect. The catering was excellent and the facilities and common room were easy to locate. Most people mentioned how they would like to come back for a weekend trip as the place looked so lovely.

Upon arrival our booking had been completely messed up. After a chat with the staff it was sorted. Rooms could do with a good cleaning. Dust everywhere. Staff really helpful. Overall experience was good. Spa was nice. Food in the restaurant was amazing.
