My husband has recently had a knee replacement at spire. His surgeon Andrew Taylor has been fantastic from his first consultation to his actual operation, his bedside manner and aftercare is exemplary you could not ask for a better surgeon . My husband would have no hesitation in recommending Mr Taylor. The nursing staff at spire are also fantastic nothing was too much trouble both caring and professional a credit to spire. My partner has been waiting for an endoscopy appointment since his consultation in November, finally got his appointment, which the hospital kindly informed him of 4 whole days before the appointment itself🙃 since then he's received no information about the procedure despite being told he'd receive an email (he has not), and has had no answer on the phone. The automated message on the phone asks who is funding your treatment before you're put through to a person, so I can only imagine they're filtering out NHS patients so they can ignore them

Receptionists/ Admin staff utterly useless. I sent several emails without response for over 4 weeks (and still no response to date). I feel for the clinical staff who are missing out on the business due to the incompetency of the Admin. Thankfully the Spire Manchester staff were able to deal with my issue in a matter of hours, but that does mean the consultants who pay fees at Liverpool Spire are missing out.

After working 10 years in the NHS I am surprised this place can function. The admin delays and lack of communication from the staff was very worrying. No replies re my referral and waited months for my results. The referral from my consultant basically said "see this woman" and so I had to explain to those doing the tests what I was there for. I know what a good referral looks like and you could tell by the faces on the staff they where shocked at the lack of info. My tests where also done the wrong way round which could have been a health risk and the staff stated the Consultant should have known this. Prob didn't care. Wouldn't go again if it was free.

this hospital seems almost unfit for purpose any more. nobody answers phones and that's the least of it. my husband who is really ill turned up for an appointment only to be told when he arrived it was cancelled. he has cancer and can hardly walk and was going there for some pain relief. it took me an eternity to get him ready to get there and back again for nothing. the lady on reception said she had rang at 9.50 am to tell him but when i rang back couldn't get through again but eventually somebody answered who didn't even work there. i told him to get the lady who had rang to contact me but nobody did so we wrongly assumed that it wasn't important. so when i said to the lady at reception that she could have tried harder to contact him and that we had rang back, she said she had other things to do. i did write into the hospital to complain but didn't even get a reply. now i have bupa trying to contact them and when the lady at bupa did get through today, she was on hold for 28 minutes and still didn't get the information she needed for my husband. i think it is utterly unacceptable and we will be looking elsewhere in future. i would give it no ratings if i could, if only it was still the lourdes and run by the nuns. then it was more than fit for purpose.

I've recently had a total hip replacement operation here and stayed in for two nights. From my initial consultation in May with Mr Fountain, to my aftercare now, I can honestly say I have been looked after so well. The reception staff are pleasant. Pre-op nurse (Carol) was thorough explaining the details and making sure I understood everything, answering any questions I had. Nursing staff introduced themselves on each shift. I had a few upsetting moments after the operation and I was treated with compassion from the care staff and sorted out very quickly. The catering staff were happy to advise on choice of meals and I enjoyed all of them. The theatre staff and anaesthetist were really friendly and reassuring. Physio exercises were explained and they worked with me at my pace, giving encouragement at both sessions. Even the porter who wheeled me out when I was leaving, advised the best way of getting into the car as I was really apprehensive about this bit. Any questions I've had along my journey have been answered and no question was deemed to be 'a daft one' I will always be extremely grateful to Mr Fountain for many reasons ....1) firstly listening to me (when others didn't !!)...2) giving me my confidence back...3) helping me regain my independence...4) making me smile and be happy again. Thank you all so very much.

Went for an ENT Issue, had a septoplasty. My dissolvable stitches ruptured after sneezing only a couple of days after the operation and was refused to be seen until weeks later, leaving my nose bleeding constantly. Following which, my nose has never been the same, giving me constant bleeding issues and post nasal drip. Every 2-3 months I would be re-referred here only to be told the issues couldn't have been caused by them and there was nothing they were willing to do about it. I've now spent the past 2 years living with these issues that have only gotten worse, I'm utterly miserable. Went for a scan and they wouldn't let me see the results, even though I'm entitled to as they are my own medical records. Give me the run around about getting them sent to a new doctor too. Sent in a complaint and recieved an entirely inaccurate response painting conversations with them as entirely supportive and understanding ignoring the fact that they done nothing to solve the issues that would end up in my vomiting blood that trickled down from my nose, severe discomfort on a daily basis and persistent issues since. Do not use the ENT team at Spire, you will be left dissapointed and broken.

Waited nearly 3 years for my surgery with ENT. Moved in the meantime & made sure to check my details have been updated at every opportunity. Finally had my surgery on the 10/9/22 & was given a fit note for 1 week despite my consultant saying it would take 2 weeks to recover. Had a massive bleed on day 9 post op due to a suture rupturing & ended up in hospital again. Tried to get a fit note from my GP but they were never sent my discharge summary so have no record of me having surgery. I've been trying to contact spire for the last 3 days to get this sent through to my current GP but they keep putting me through to different departments where I sit on hold for hours until I give up. Nobody seems to know what they are doing & I'm now risking losing my job & under so much stress despite only coming out of hospital for the second time on Monday. THIS IS NOT QUALITY PATIENT CARE. I am a nurse with the NHS & would never dream of treating any of my patients like this.

For a Private hospital, the quality of service is terrible! Bad Points: - Admin make constant mistakes with Appointments and double bookings, different Departments just don't seem to be 'joined up' and communicate properly. - The Hospital is pretty grubby, rooms are miserable, beds aren't very comfortable. The food is terrible (and I do mean BAD!) - Reception Staff are just plane rude and ignorant. they spend more time chatting and discussing what's on Netflix and what they want to drink whilst completely ignoring waiting Patients (it happened to me and I repeatedly watched it happen to many others!)....just BAD customer Service! - Billing - They try to Bill you for Outpatient Medicine that you haven't received - quite worrying considering these Drugs are supposed to be 'controlled' yet there make such basic mistakes. Word of advice, DON'T give them your credit Card when they ask for it to be "on File", there's no need for them to have it and it is much easier to pay for extra's AFTER the event (once you've checked), than try to claim back for their Billing mistakes ;o) . Good Points - The Nurses are great - The Operations are good If I was going Private for my treatment, I'd pick somewhere like Renacres (in Ormskirk) - so much better than here... If I was going with the NHS I'd stick with an NHS Hospital...

I have diagnosed Morton’s Neuroma, came here to talk about my options for treatment . The specialist sent me for X-rays that cost £200 (on top of the £175 consultation) even though MN doesn’t show up on on an X-RAY it’s only visible on an ultrasound. Clearly they haven’t got a clue. I would never go back again because of this

Referral to a pain clinic, apparently. Seen an anaesthetist, who made me cry by snapping at me for interrupting his train of thought. And couldn't help me pain wise or a diagnosis after being in pain for 11 months. Absolutely pointless. Should of read the reviews before I booked. Avoid him at all costs.

Please be aware, for some unquantified reason, Spire Greenbank Road, charge 'more' for exactly the same procedure & consultant, than their Murrayfield Spire hospital on The Wirral. If you are considering using this company, I'd advise getting their prices in writing prior to any treatment. You'll probably benefit financially from going to Spire Murrayfield! To their credit, the qualified medical staff are lovely, compassionate people, as opposed to quite a number of the administration & reception staff, whose complete condescending manner is an unfortunate experience, as it's a patient's first experience of Spire's public face.

Saw a pain doctor here on the NHSwho didn't do anything to help, but did kindly give me a personal 20% discount code to his cousins CBD oil website, so I could go buy CBD oil from him to help my pain..... Seems unethical and against practice rules to me, but who knows.

From the initial consultation to the surgery and after care absolutely first class. Mr Andrew Taylor the consultant was superb. The anaesthetist - Ms Fahy provided reassurance with kindness that dispelled any anxiety. The nursing staff from Emma and Danielle and operating theatre staff whose names I was too drowsy to remember were all fantastic. Indeed the whole team. Unequivocally, Mr Taylor works to a very high standard.

Absolutely disgusting Paid 175£ to see a consultant who never even turned up… he attempted to do a phone consultation regarding a heart problem where all he wanted to do was send me for tests at other hospitals. He wanted me to take 3 more types of medication and I asked him to do my cholesterol. A day later no contact or results Yes spire said they will refund the 175£ but this is not the point. Ended up in a and e Turned out to be chest issues. Spire your a disgrace to the medical profession. Made a complaint to them They don’t care less

Amazing facilities and even better staff! The clinic was perfectly covid safe, well managed and beautifully clean. Every staff member I came into contact with was wonderful (even when I was in a bad mood) and couldn’t have done more for me. Special shout out to the staff nurse for truly looking after me and the anaesthetics team for making me feel completely comfortable going into the procedure. Obviously waiting isn’t fun given I was quite low on the list, however this is completely understandable and acceptable so cannot negatively affect my rating.

Put through a complaint and they just listen to the doctor who failed to see issues with my eyes that were blatantly there do cost me 350 quid to see a NHS CONSULTANT!!!! could have just got steroid drops from my GP. Told me to take lubricating drops not rocket science wasn't sure what to think at the time as I was vulnerable. Seen 2 other optimologists since who actually know what they're talking about. Do NOT go here they're not equipped to deal with dry eye and couldn't determine if my issue was allergy or dry eye related. Maybe if he looked at my meibomisn glands properly being a doctor n all, he could have figured that out for me. JOKE!!! save your money DON'T GO HERE. And they won't listen to your reasonable complaint and even bother seeing my evidence.

Very mixed experiences with this hospital. Firstly I've only had dealings with bone and joint centre and radiology department. The receptionist (Betty) is amazing and greets everyone with a friendly warmth. Had great experience with rheumatology dept after years of trouble getting listened to Dr McLaren was very understanding and got to the root of my issues quickly. Sent for various scans and x-rays and all staff at radiology department were amazing. Hip issue required referral to orthopaedics and this is where my problems occured. After such great treatment from other departments I was shocked and disappointed by how I have been treated (or not treated) by orthopaedic Drs at the spire. Despite having a clear labrum tear both drs were very dismissive and didn't seem to listen to my answers. Repeatedly asking me where my pain was then dismissing said pain . Both stated incorrectly that labrum repair surgery or arthroscopic surgery was not very successful (data suggests it is) and that it's not advised as "tears are common and often do not cause pain" I was then told I'd "simply have to learn to live with it". I left both appointments feeling totally dismissed and gaslit and feel I was given totally incorrect information. If your drs are not specialists or comfortable doing a particular procedure they should say so and refer ppl to someone who is! They should not provide inaccurate information by telling a patient the surgery is not successful in most patients (which is just not true).

My experience at the Spire Liverpool Hospital has been very positive in every phase from my first examination to the final surgery. The ambient is very well organized with staff friendly, respectful and utterly professional, visibly happy to do their work. I would like to thank the consultant/surgeon Mrs Banks, and all the staff that has looked after me during my short permanence from the very kind cathering personnel to all the nurses expecially Rachel, Alix, Emily, Julia.

Seen the ENT Consultant. Paid extra for a hearing test that I knew was normal. Has a one min test to test to pressure. that was normal. He then said he did not know why I am dizzy. Ear pain and pressure. No further assessment done So left with this condition. And paid a large fee. Can I get a second opinion.

Went here for an ENT appointment after having years of outstanding issues from a major car accident that left life long complications. Dr Pothula was rude, arrogant and condescending. I came in and explained my problems to him, only for him to just cut me off mid sentence and asked me to sit in the chair for him to examine my ears and nose. He used the suction on my left ear despite me telling him it's scarred and extremely sensitive anyway (causing me days of pain). Told him about my chronic congestion problem, and he said he didn't see anything wrong with me - he just claimed I had "acid reflux" problems, not something I've suffered with at all through my whole life. I then simply asked him if he saw anything wrong with my sinuses, and he snapped and shouted at me "you haven't been listening to anything I've said, have you?". He gave me a course of antibiotics, despite me having already finished a course just the previous month. Ended the appointment by saying "it's fine" and carried on with whatever he was doing. Never had such horrible treatment. I can't speak for the rest of the doctors here, but this guy is awful. Avoid.

Bone & Joint Centre in Spire Liverpool are world class. It’s only because of Claire and Beth in the reception. It’s just the way they welcome the patients/visitors with a big smile in their face. It doesn’t feel like a hospital. It feel homely to me. Because there was a time when I had three appointments in same day. I’ve never felt lonely or left alone while I was in reception waiting area enjoining my usual cappuccino. I’ve been getting the services from bone & joint centre since it was built and I’ve been a patient of Lourdes Hospital hospital since year 2003 before it was changed to Spire Liverpool Hospital. Over the past 20 years I’ve been looked after by at least 22 consultants/doctors and they were brilliant. But the consultants from the bone & Joint Centre were world class specially Mr J Davidson one of the best orthopaedic surgeons I’ve ever meet. My experience says that I feel very comfortable with him. I must mention Mr N Roland, another world class ENT consultant. Very quick to discover the root of the problems of a patient. His smiling face helps the patient forget their pain. Looking forward to see Clair & Bath soon and Mr Davidson after returning from his holiday. Wish you the very best in life and in your profession.

Turned up for my appointment on time got to see the doctor a hour later, this is not the first time this has happened, get the impression that they treat NHS different than the private ones. If that the case stop doing NHS and claiming the money.

Rude, arrogant, patronising, condescending Dr. Seemed totally disinterested in my issue, felt like an inconvenience. Didnt have my medical information ready, so there's a basic competency issue. Only seemed interested in Steering the examination in a way that didnt highlight my actual issues, had to become assertive and insist on them acknowledging actual issue by demonstrating it. Again seemed disinterested. Sambolic. If by going here I'm paying for private healthcare you think you're getting something better than the NHS, think again. This is the poorest all round treatment I have ever received in a hospital. Very uncomfortable, very disheartening experience. Im just trying to get back to work so I don't end up losing my home, ive never felt so unsupported in recovering from a medical issue. Huge mistake coming here, dont make the ssme one as i did. These grifters are not about the patients,. they're about profit, and it shows Appalled and dejected.

My niece was due to have her operation in a weeks time. This morning as soon as my sister paid the balance my niece was given the awful news that her surgery has been cancelled due to a shortage of equipment. Disgusting! You expect this from the NHS but never privately. I would love to find another surgeon offering the same skilled procedure so we could tell spire where to go!

Terrible service!!! My wife drove me to the hospital for an hour with excruciating back pain after booking an appointment to be told Neil Buxton was ‘on holiday’. I then received and invoice for £280 for a call I didn’t ask for and was harassed by a collection agency at my mother’s address (I don’t live there) after the hospital had failed to respond properly to several of my letters or calls. Disgraceful.

Well, despite the glowing reviews from other service users my experience has been negative from start to finish. First they made an evening appt, not a problem. I took a cab as it was raining only for them to say its been changed and that someone should have let me know. Really? Made a formal complaint as I wanted to be reimbursed but they literally ignored the complaint lol. Then, I have had a follow-up appt where it was identified that I would need a procedure. This was the 20th July. I have called several times to get a date as I'm writhing in pain, left my contact details and they still haven't returned my call and that was the 17th August! Phoned today 8th September, call answered after 30mins. Receptionist was lovely though. Procedure booked but I feel that they warrant the 1 star rating. Maybe after the procedure I will review and revise!

Thanks to Spire Hospital Liverpool I am healthy and functional, as they managed to treat a health issue that was torturing me for a whole year and was affecting my everyday life. In the beginning of next year they have booked me for a surgery that will hopefully help me get even better. A big thanks to Mr. Panarese who is the doctor that is treating me and also the two polite health workers at the x-ray department and the hospital pharmacist <3

I would like to say a huge thank you to Mr Peter and all his team who have given me a new lease of life. The care and attention from everyone was second to none .Steph /Adam gave good physio care along with plenty of reassurance. My room was kept really lovely and all the meals were so yummy ! The night time staff also need a huge thank you for their care giving painkillers etc . Thank you all once again .

Private is definitely not better. I had consultation with a Mr Kahkoor podiatrist. Polite not very helpful. He advised me that I did not need new orthotics. Got a second opinion from a podiatrist with less experience but much better and new orthotics issued all on the NHS which have made a difference. I raised a complaint investigated by Carolyn Crompton whos due diligence was very poor and dismissive. I would not recommend this hospital what so ever.

Everytime I come to this hospital, the receptionists are always just sat there talking to eachother about Instagram and love island, and make you wait until they're finished talking, before they take notice of you. This is every visit I've had. Apart from that, it's a great hospital.

Booked an appointment and took half a day off work to be turned away when I arrived saying it wasn't on the system. Very apologetic but it's not good enough really to have booked an appointment, actually be told the doctor is in that you booked with when you arrive, and then be told you have no appointment and can't see them. If you're tight on annual leave at I certainly wouldn't recommend booking here.

I was in the Spire last week, as a NHS patient, for a knee operation and I can't recommend it highly enough. I met Mrs Banks, my consultant, 4 times in the last year to discuss my injuries. She has always been very reassuring and informative when discussing my injury and possible procedures. I had a small issue and was kept in longer than planned but the care given to me was fantastic both pre and post op. Special mention to Danielle, Ivana and Sally but all the staff from reception to the physios have been great. Thank you.

2 weeks today I had a lower body lift which was carried out by Dr irfan Khan. The care and support I received from him and the nurses/hca's on oakfield ward was exceptional. Dr khan is a lovely gentleman, who has a calm and unassuming manner, which makes you feel at ease from the word go. Everything regarding the procedure was explained in detail, and I never felt pressured in anyway to go ahead with the Surgery. I'm so satisfied with my treatment and results, I am returning next year for further surgery by Dr Khan.

Totally pathetic, untrustworthy service . I drove 30 miles to this hospital to meet the consultant, but when I reached at the reception that the consultant left the hospital earlier and they had tried to contact me to inform this unavailability, but couldn’t find my details. That’s a big lie as I got my email confirmation from their booking department and claims that they don’t have any details of mine. The worst hospital I have ever been to.

Mr Rowland and team made me and my two children so welcome. The receptionist also went out of her way to get my son an appointment on the day I called. My youngest is autistic and the nurse working with Mr Rowland entertained him the whole time we were there ( even checking his perfectly fine eyes and throat at his insistence). We were listened to and well looked after.

Great staff who couldn't do enough to help. The team at the bone and joint centre were fantastic. Betty was extremely friendly, professional, and able to sort out new appointments after a few errors elsewhere. Surgery with Mr Brown and treatment after care have so far been excellent. Thank you

On the 6.6.23, I attended Liverpool spire for a self funded cataract operation on my left eye. Everything went extremely well. On 29.6.23 I was given a considerably increased cost for the same procedure on my right eye. When I questioned this, I was bluntly told that's what it is. Nevertheless, I decided to carry on. On 24.7.23, I attended the Spire for this operation. Four days later (by e-mail) I was invited to complete their questionnaire. Quoting "we would love to hear your feedback." I highlighted the following: 1. I was shocked at the sharp increase in the cost of the operation. 2. Post operation I had been returned to my room for assessment and pre-ordered refreshment. After about 40 minutes of feeling abandoned, I had to go and find a member of staff to help. I also stated that I was still waiting for pre-ordered refreshment. Eventually, a drink and a tired, unchilled prepacked tuna sandwich was provided. My wife requested a drink, which was condescendingly supplied. 3. On discharge, I was initially given a prescription for the WRONG eye. Now, more than 4 weeks after filling in the questionnaire, and despite a quote "wanting to hear from me". Nobody has contacted me to address these issues. If this experience had happened with the first operation, I definitely wouldn't have continued with the second one. Would I use Spire, Liverpool again ? ermmm

They couldn't provide me with the results of the blood test for a few months. When I contacted them, they informed me that they had simply forgotten about it. I was charged a fee of 250 pounds for this unsatisfactory service.

Had a tonsillectomy yesterday and was extremely nervous to go in as a 20 year old student on her own. The nurses were so lovely and made sure I felt safe at all times from holding my hand to wiping my tears away! Couldn’t have asked for a better experience. The staff really are a credit to spire, wish I got their names but Anu and Dr Pothula are just to name a couple.

Open referal to see Gynaecologist for Hysterectomy. Accepted for Abdominal Hysterectomy. After two months of waiting, my symptoms became worse. Underwent an ultrasound. My consultant cancelled my Hysterectomy because the hospital was not adequately equipped to deal with such vascular surgery. Why agree to it in the first place then? I was very upset and eventually livid. I went back for a 2nd opinion over 13 months later, different consultant, and they too said an Abdominal Hysterectomy could not be performed at Spire Greenbank as vascular surgery. Why advertise for Abdominal Hysterectomy if you have cancelled once and the second time refused to do it as it's too high risk/vascular? after cancelling it, then refered me over to NHS Womens Hospital were i remained on the wating list for OVER 1 YEAR - just to see a consultant. It really destroyed my self esteem and confidence. Don't bother seeking Abdominal Hysterectomy at Spire Greenbank. You need a private hospital who has an ICU, otherwise they won't do it.

😠 To give an honest review. It’s actually a bit of a shame they are so poor at what they do as I think if they ironed a few (serious) issues out they could actually be a decent private test provider. They will initially say they changed courier from DPD to Royal Mail as they were having issues with D...

😠 I’ve changed my previous rating to one star since they removed the e-consult option. At least back then you could fill a form for non-urgent enquiries and wait 24-48 hours. Worked amazingly well. Now you start raining at 08:00, you get to speak to someone at 08:30, and you’re asked to ring at 08:00...

😠 I arrived and was seen by a nurse to explain what was wrong. She was extremely rude and had a attitude problem.
