I cannot express the anger and disgust in regard to the way my father in law has been treated. Negligence beyond belief. Would be interesting to see how many doctors conduct education to remain current. I feel sorry for the genuine doctors who know what they are doing, and are correctly trained. God knows what an investigation would expose Absolutely abhorrent treatment

My son went to A&E at Arrowe park hospital with severe stomach pains and swelling as well as vomiting around 1.30pm. He couldnt sit due to pain so they left him laying on the floor in A&E with a vomit bowl until after 9pm it was only a security guard that gave him a blanket for a pillow to keep his head off the floor. Nurses and other professionals kept on walking past him not giving a care towards to the situation. Turns out he needs his appendix removed could have been fatal. No care was given from any members of staff apart from that security guard. I would like to say a big thank you to him for trying to help comfort my son during his time of need.

Rushed to A&E after an epileptic seizure at work and what a disgrace it was. Thrown onto a trolley in a corridor and told i would be seen within 2 hours. Had bloods and ecg done in the corridor which was completely unhygienic and potentially dangerous. Within 15 minutes of suffering a second seizure (trust me they are not pleasent) i was told to return to the waiting room as the trolley was required for more urgent cases. 6 hours later finally seen by a doctor and admitted, next time i dont think ill bother trying to get help. Staff were rude and sarcastic, in some cases even mocking. I hope they never need care and support from a supposed world leading healthcare provider, sadly its time to admit that the NHS has failed and that the staff are a contributing factor.

I can't fault this place. I used the 'drop in' centre after returning from holiday and waking up the previous day with the worst blood shot eye I have ever had. I wasn't expecting to be told that I had dangerously high blood pressure and the care I was given was excellent throughout. The drop in nurse made sure that I was seen by a GP and I was prescribed medication. Even the onsite Pharmacy took the trouble to phone me one week later to ask how my condition was. Top marks from me!

Cruel inhumane place. Your relatives will not come out alive. You will not be allowed to see them. The elderly are quickly put on a type of liverpool care pathway

I went into Arrowe park for mental health issues and they are normally quite dismissive yes some staff were, but I would like to praise the security who came to check on me and take me out for a cigarette to calm me down and spent time talking to me and supported me in getting the right help and the staff who sat with me and actually heard me. It could have gone a lot worst! Thank you xxx

Just lost my Dad in Arrowe Park and must give credit where its due. The conditions aren't the best, the views aren't a picture, but the staff just never stop. Cleaners and domestics, health carers, staff nurses and doctors all working so hard and with great care and compassion. It was a difficult time, but I was really impressed with the attitude of the staff and the timely manner in which things happened. Thanks.

My grandfather has been admitted 3 times in the last 6 weeks, he has parkinsons and alzheimer's and has suffered repeated falls, breaking 5 ribs and 2 bones in his back. They took 4 days to do an xray and it only happened after a complaint. They say they are short of staff and beds, yet leave a man in pain for days waiting for a basic test when they could have moved him to an appropriate setting sooner and freed up an acute bed. So his memory is bad and his understanding isn't what it was, so we as a family rely on them to keep us updated being unable to visit, do they call when they say they will? No! Oh and when they do call or finally pick up the phone, they give you different information each time, so who knows what the truth is. They also failed to include my grandmother regarding his care, which is so basic and written in the NHS constitution. They said he would need rehab to walk, he went in walking but in his most recent admission to a respiratory ward, for broken bones, he lay in bed 23 hours a day and become so weak, was terrified to walk. They then tried to discharge him home with no suitable care package, no mention of rehab now, despite him being at serious risk of falls. We had to refuse the discharge and they have now sent him to rehab, where he should have gone after his first admission. Do they care, in short no, the place needs shutting down. Don't bother complaining either, it changes nothing. The PALS team are as useless as the organisation.

Just been to A&E because of very nasty tonsillitis that we thought might have turned into an abscess in 17 year old. Was seen by 2 dr’s and 1 nurse within 15 minutes. They were all absolutely amazing. Thank you NHS and staff for the best A&E service our family has ever ever received.

What an experience. Went to the out of hours walk in and was met by a very unfriendly looking/sounding woman at reception who barked at me. She said the waiting time would be approx 4 hours. 4 hours?!? How many doctors have you got on? (I'll come back to this later). I walked to A+E because I needed to see someone fast. My situation was getting worse and worse by the minute. I was told I'd be able to see someone within 30 mins. Approx 1+ hours later I was seen by a nurse - who said to take an antihistamine. Somehow I'm not quite sure that would help an auto-immune system problem. I got sent back around to the unfriendly woman at the walk-in who then decided to have a go at me for walking away from a 4 hour queue. Sorry but when I'm in dire need of help - I cannot wait 4 hours to be seen by a nurse who doesn't specialise in the field that i'm having trouble with. At one point there were 4-5 receptionists in there, and a larger gentlemen trying to tempt them to "take a bite, please, take a bite!" of some biscuit/cake - all of them laughing and rocking around on their chairs. I thought I was in a children's playground. It was so far removed from the professional NHS that we expect. I was shocked at what I saw. Anyway, I sat down, defeated and had to wait it out - I'd now been there approximately 4 hours when I got to see a doctor. The doctor then prescribed me something and said to collect it from the pharmacy. She said specifically, "it's the pharmacy within the main hospital. Don't go outside the hospital." I went to said pharmacy and it closed at 4pm (Sunday). What a total and utter farce. I went home in agony after losing approx 5 hours of my day for nothing. The next day, I go to the pharmacy and ask for my treatment. They said they didn't have it, and go to the other pharmacy on-site. I went to it, and they said they didn't have it. I then walked back to the pharmacy inside the hospital only for the manager to come out and apologise that the doctor never actually pushed "send" to send the prescription through, so they had nothing to give me. So now, approx 6-7 hours in total of wasted time and I've still got no treatment. This place is a joke. A total and utter joke. The management need firing. And dare I say it, needs privatising. This comedy show (although it's not funny, it's very very serious) wouldn't be allowed to take place in a private company. Shameful and embarrassing. The management should be ashamed and resign.

Mum in hospital, admitted last night with covid. Thank you to the lady on ward 25 I spoke to this morning, 6.1.2022- Put my mind at rest, explained that she was ok, will be either discharged or moved to a less acute ward. Will be monitored virtually at home, as still has covid. Thank you for this Arrowe park hospital staff. Very happy with care my mother was given on Acute medical unit. 17.12.2021. She was admitted with dehydration, quite poorly, after a good sleep, was drinking and eating again. Nurses were on hand and had time for her. Thank you. I visited myself and saw first hand how well she was cared for. She is now on medical short stay.

I've been coming to the walk in/urgent care unit almost every day since November 26th this year, as early as possible at 8am, staff are friendly and know what they're doing, it's a 1 star review since I can be the first or second in at 8am, and be the 5th one to be seen at 9:30 or 10am... I know it's been busy, but when your the first in and it takes more than 30 minutes for anyone to see a patient it's appalling. I've been in an intolerable amount of pain since I started coming after an operation and the most painful thing for me to do is sit down and that's what I'm forced to do for upto 2 hours at most in an empty waiting room.

Admitted to the WAFFU ward 10. Excellent staff, very kind to myself and to all the patients i was sharing a ward with. They were so very busy but they kept on going, showing and giving all the care i needed with pure positivity and with a kind smile. Always cleaning around us. Thank you so very much for all the help and care you gave me. I wish i could help you out someway other than a 5 star review to show my appreciation. Excellent service under the circumstances of so many, many patients that kept constantly turning up. Amazing, Thank you. <3

I had an appointment for a flexible sigmoidoscopy and was feeling a bit nervous. No need to have felt nervous at all, all the wonderful, cheerful, reassuring nurses made me feel totally at ease and the procedure went that well I didn't feel a thing. Endoscopy staff are all wonderful, never be afraid if you have an appointment there, you will be very well looked after. 10/10 the department is wonderful ❀️

My mum recently had a 3 week stay on Ward 30, and has had many appointments for different tests and treatments, and the level of care has been outstanding. The staff, although busy, are always friendly and helpful, and have made my 82 year old mum feel really well looked after, and cared for.

Visited the Endoscopy unit today 10th November, greeted warmly by reception staff, seen by a lovely nurse named Flo, who immediately put me at my ease. Was then seen by a Lovely Doctor who sat and went through the entire procedure with me. Explained everything very sim0ly and really helped me relax. All the staff today were brilliant, very reassuring, kind and considerate. The entire unit was spotless. Thank you to uou all.

I was admitted to Arrowe Park last Tuesday after having a mild heart attack. Every member of staff was wonderful and made my stay a very good experience. One nurse stood out on the first ward I was admitted onto. (I was in room 13, bed 13, thankfully I'm not superstitious). Vicky Mazier is a wonderful member of the nursing staff who deserves recognition. Not only for the way I was treated, but her compassion, empathy and patience with a very elderly lady in the bed next to mine. Vicky went above and beyond the care of other nurses to talk to, understand, take time and help this poor lady. Vicky you are an amazing human being. Thank you. The care I received on the CCU was also outstanding. Nurses Jean and Georgina standing out as very special people too. This was my first experience of being in hospital for 25 years and I must say I was thrilled that it was such a positive experience at a very scary time. Thank you Arrowe Park. Louise Artingstall

You'd think Arrowe Park hospital would have helpful arrows telling you where to park. Instead, the arrows for patient parking direct you to a staff-only section, from which there is no escape from the fob-activated barrier and the queue of traffic behind you. Does not live up to its name at all. Awful road design, and a charge of Β£3.20 for the pleasure.

I went for a routine GP appointment at 9am, they were not happy and performed an emergency blood test which the results were back at GPs by 3pm, they rang me and although the doctor was leaving at 5pm he asked for me to go back at the earliest I could which was 5.30pm when I got there he referred me straight to Arrowe Park hospital and was sent straight to the UMAC dept. I was in for 5 days and the treatment, the care and the dedication from everyone I had on ward 37 was fantastic. My condition was more severe than I knew, but they made sure there was a plan in place before I was discharged. I understand that people can have bad experiences in any hospital, especially when having to go through A&E but the NHS is woefully underfunded by an incompetent government and they do the best they can do, so instead or slagging the staff off and putting in complaints, perhaps think about what they have to go through. As a final note, I lost my wife a couple of years ago, but without the dedication and support from Arrowe Park Hospital I beleive I would of lost her earlier. Support the NHS ( and get rid of this incompetent government )

New pilot system in place so made arrival time on the internet at 10:30pm. Arrived on time with wrist injury, checked in, waited about 15-20mins to see Triage nurse who said I needed x-rays. Went to x-ray dep't and was done very quickly and returned to A & E waiting room. Heard a member of staff say "waiting time to see a doctor was 6 hours", I was horrified but thought, well I'm here so hang on and hope for the best. Waited till 1am and another member of staff told the guy in the next cubicle " waiting time is now 7 hours". At 1/4 past 1am an announcement came over the tannoy "owing to a large amount of people in A & E the waiting time to see a doctor is now 8 hours". RIDICULOUS! I explained to reception I could not wait another 8 hours and left. IF THIS IS HOW THE NEW A&E SYSTEM WORKS IT IS A FARCE AND TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE. I don't blame the nurses/doctors/staff for this debacle, but if the idea is to put people off attending by having massive waiting times, it is probably going to work.

Had several visits to Arrowe park with a few operations thrown in. This place is amazing. The staff from cleaners right up to doctors could not be more respectful and helpful. If you really have to go to hospital this is by far the best one to be in.

A lot of building work going on here at the moment. A and E was a nightmare six and a half hour wait due to the sheer volume of people there. No seats at all left due to the amount of people. Parking was a nightmare not enough spaces. But the nurses and doctors do a great job. Really helpful very kind and good at what they do. They do there best at all times

Oral and Maxifaciology Dept. The health care professionals in this department are so caring, professional and friendly. I had the roots of a tooth removed yesterday...I was very apprehensive after my dentist couldn't remove them, but the 2 staff were amazing. I cannot praise them enough. In the end the procedure was quick and painless. Thank you so much.

We been to the hospital few days back well went great from greeting to meeting. Right we parked the car In car park area . no proper parking sign or board No proper information of where to pay for parking.! We came out in car park driving through the barrier were not opening…!???? Because I need not pay tickets And 4 cars behind. Well the authorities should put correct information over where should we pay tickets..! And how to pay. Ask 3 people they did have any information at all finally asked the staff who is smoking out walk inside to pay 15 people waiting to pay at one machine.. come on….! Really Hopistial appointment can be so stressful and parking is double stressful..

Having recently been a patient at Warrington Hospital (<1*) brought back my experience at Arrowe Park. I had been transferred from Clatterbride (5*) so you can guess the diagnosis. I was at death's door. The state of the ward (basically liver & drug patients) was disgusting. I was kept in isolation with my own toilet because my immune system had been almost destroyed by chemotherapy. Other patients used my toilet and left faeces, which were not cleaned up and disinfected. This is a real hazard for infection to a patient with virtually no immune system. I could go on but let me give one comical yet totally unprofessional example of the 'quality' of the nursing staff. I was on a drip and the bag of fluid was almost empty. So I asked a nurse to get the next bag of fluid, as prescribed. Without looking up she said "I am not going to change it". Within the next half hour the nurses shift was due to change. I remonstrated with her and she did then look up to view the bag and still she would not change it. There were three reason why she could not raise her eyes. Firstly, the shift was about to change and she hadn't a caring bone in her body. Secondly, there was so much make-up on her eyelids that this would have been difficult for her. And finally, she was looking down and concentrating on her mobile phone playing some kind of gambling numbers game. Complain, forget it. This is the state of the NHS is this locality.

Thanks to Kirsten and the doctor who helped me last night. Thanks for helping me out of my lowest low. I'm still not fighting fit but am in a much better place due to you two amazing women. The wait in accident and emergency was insane (over 100 people there) but you gave me the time and assistance I needed. Thanks for the post visit advice as well.

Mum and dad have been patients several times during their old age. I have been a nurse in the past and fully appreciate what the staff have to endure. The last few years however have gone from bad to worse regarding care, reachability and followup. Most staff are absolutely fantastic. I just spent half an hour trying to get through to a ward, pickup was can you phone back later , yes, click... Save the NHS, vote....wisely and change that awful on hold music, i think im in space!

My wife gave birth at Arrowe Park Hospital on the 14th of Dec 2022, the staff especially Laura was so supportive whilst waiting for delivery. After a long wait to go into labour the doctors suggested for a csection because the baby wasn't moving well. We readily agreed for it and it was well executed by an excellent team. The whole team in the maternity ward after the operation was always there for us until the last minute we left the hospital, we spent 3 days. Thank you so much Arrowe Park Staff your service is on point.

My husband had a biopsy yesterday and needed a blood test prior to this . I can’t praise the staff enough. His blood test had to be put in a bag of ice and taken straight to the lab, his letter arrived late so the secretary arranged for him to go . We didn’t have to wait went straight through, then there was a cancellation in the Endoscopy Department so he went straight there all done by 1pm. Outstanding Service

Fairly standard. Went for supernumerary teeth out. Had to have a series of x-rays, letter that was sent told us to go to the X-ray department, but when we got there we waited at least 2 hours before we were told that my scan was to be done in the maxillofacial department. Then was put on a waiting list, I estimate that it would have taken around 2 years before I got anything had my orthodontist not sent a passive aggressive letter to them. Works as a hospital but a bit slow.

Thank you to the professional, caring A & E staff who put my Granddaughters dislocated elbow back in. The Ibuprofen I bought from the Boots Chemist located at the hospital are some of the worst tasting pills I've had to swallow, and I've had some pills in my time. The delightful usual sugary coating which has kept me coming back for years seems to have been replaced with a soapy fragrance. Perhaps a prank from the staff at the store? Maybe they left them on the floor of the shower cubile whilst using it and packaged the pills to sell. Who knows. Other than that a lovely visit.

Was in there 7 hours when they were saying 4 hour waiting times. After all that I got called when I nipped to the toilet and even though I got seen after they still took me off the system. I'm sure the chest pains I've been having are probs nothing serious.
