My
Dad
was
treated
here
(transferred
from
Whiston)
after
suffering
clots
to
the
brain
and
bilateral
stroke
leaving
him
severely
disabled.
His
initial
treatment
on
HDU
was
good,
but
when
he
was
transferred
to
7A/B
(Covid
wards)
after
contracting
Covid
in
hospital
his
treatment
was
appalling.
I
had
to
force
my
way
onto
his
ward
(despite
there
being
no
visitors
allowed
during
Covid)
to
bring
him
food
and
drinks,
as
he
was
left
for
hours
on
end
and
not
seen
to
by
nurses.
Nurses
would
ask
him
if
he
wanted
food
and
if
he
said
'no'
(despite
him
having
a
sign
behind
his
bed
that
stated
he
had
cognitive
impairment),
they
would
leave
him
to
starve
even
when
he
didn't
understand
the
question!!!
I
saw
other
patients
on
the
ward
who
were
curled
up
in
their
bed
unable
to
feed
themselves,
and
they
would
be
left
a
rotten
sandwich
on
their
bedside
table,
when
they
clearly
couldn't
pick
it
up
or
feed
themselves
so
they
were
essentially
being
left
to
rot.
It
still
haunts
me
at
night
thinking
about
it
knowing
there
will
be
patients
stuck
there
without
family
to
help
them,
being
left
like
that
in
a
hospital
where
they
are
vulnerable,
and
fully
reliant
on
medical
staff
to
look
after
them,
it
is
heartbreaking.
I
witnessed
a
nurse
refusing
a
patient
food
and
telling
him
he
was
nil
by
mouth,
when
in
actual
fact
he
had
been
for
his
op
earlier
in
the
day
and
had
returned
to
the
ward,
so
he
was
no
longer
nil
by
mouth
and
needed
feeding.
The
level
of
care
I
was
seeing
with
my
own
eyes
was
third
world.
In
the
end
I
argued
with
my
Dad's
specialists
to
let
him
be
discharged
as
I
knew
he
would
be
much
better
receiving
care
at
home.
Not
even
sure
he
had
any
fully
qualified
nurses
on
his
ward,
the
odd
few
people
I
did
see
were
healthcare
assistants.
They
are
spread
extremely
thin
which
I
understand,
but
the
ones
I
did
see
completely
lacked
any
sort
of
empathy,
didn't
really
have
a
caring
nature,
spent
more
time
gossiping
with
each
other
than
actually
tending
to
patients
needs,
shouldn't
have
gone
into
the
medical
profession.
