I joined a few weeks ago now, I'm disabled and they cater for me and allow my carer to use the facilities next to me at a very low cost when other gyms (Bannatynes) were quite rude about me having a carer. Really friendly staff and love the 3 pool choice. Really enjoying going 💖 My only downside so far is lack of and mis-use of disabled parking spaces

Clean and inviting but for what it is, I think it’s a bit expensive. Me and my partner wanted to do cardio so we bought two day passes which cost £30 between us.

Plenty of workout space. Wide range of equipment from free weights to assisted. Separate woman's exercise area. Separate lane swimming pool. Staff are really helpful if you have any issues especially with membership

Dirty gym and overpriced

Very quick to take your money , even quicker to tell you that you can't use the services that you're clearly being over charged for. And to top it off, seem to enjoy doing it and make you leave with 3 unhappy kids.

Tried to join the gym on a no contract option which they offer at a premium of almost 50% per month and was told an additional £20 joining fee was required? I left without joining and decided to email the customer care to ask what the joining fee bought me it was it just money for nothing? Told them I would join on the no contract option if they could either explain or waiver the joining fee particularly as there was no joining fee if I took the contract! The company didn't even bother to reply !!!! If they have explained to my satisfaction the reason for this fee in particular as I was a returning member or waiver the fee I would have reinstated my membership! Instead I have joined elsewhere and Total Fitness have lost Mr as a member over £20 ! There are so many gyms out there in my mind joining fees for which you receive nothing in return are a thing of the past !

My son swims here it's ok but expensive cafe and not enough family change areas, always queuing to get showered and the floor is always flooded and the changing rooms have dirty floors and seating

Love this health club. Staff a really friend and there are no long waits to get on the equipment. Very clean and tidy. Pool area is lovely and clean along with hydro pool steam room and sauna. Changing rooms and showers are clean and tidy. Would love them to get a ski machine to complete my pre existing cardio workout. It may be more expensive than some of the gyms in wigan, but would recommend this above all others with the added bonus of the pool. Any chance you can extend the boxing area???? UPDATE cleanliness has gone down hill, maintenance of equipment non existent. Spoke to staff who seem less than interested that the smiths machine was damaged and could cause serious injury. Cannot wait for contract to end for the price you pay this health club should be on top of.maintenance and cleanliness. Would not recommend

Lovely place with so friendly staff

I pay £36 monthly and this gym has no air conditioning, what a joke. I felt sick twice during my workout,.I’m sure this would not meet health and safety standards and I think it’s worth of reporting as well. Other than that it’s great gym with good equipment, but what’s the point if it gets so hot that u can’t breathe doing ur workouts.

I have just had my session with my personal trainer Carol & Said hello to Suzie who looked after me at first. I am so glad I joined Ive had 2 strokes & I feel so safe and cared for since joining my walking is much inproved my balance is much better I cant thank them enough the PT & all the staff at Total Fitness really know their stuff. I can stand for longer & walk for longer. I wish more people would join they give you so much support I for one cant Thank them enough they are Awesome 🌻🌻🌻🙂👋👋👋

We have just visited for a taster session. The staff Beth & Claudia were both exceptionally friendly, helpful and informative. The gym has 3 parts a family section, ladies only & main gym with plenty of choice. It is nice & bright and very clean. The pool area is lovely too with 3 pools, lane pool, kids pool & hydrotherapy relax pool. There is a steam & sauna room too. We decided to join! Looking forward to our next visit.

Real well maintained gym, staff are always busy doing something. Plenty to do, including 3 pools, multiple saunas, steam room, and a hybrid sauna. Massive gym area with classes included in membership and 2 squash courts. All ver simple to book on the app. Kitchen with meals and smoothies also available.

One of the main reasons my family and I joined this gym was because of the pools and family changing rooms. Since joining they closed down the family changing room for renovations and since reopening, it floods worse than before attempting to fix the issue. They also completely removed the bathing costume wringing machine so now there is nowhere in the family changing room to wring out our costumes after swimming. Equipment is always under repair and one of the other major reasons for our family joining this gym was the fact they had two heavy bags for boxing. Both my stepdaughter and I box, so it was a great influence to join. Now however, both heavy bags are broken and we were told they do not plan on replacing them. There are empty water bottles all around the gym. Teenagers sit on equipment playing on their phones while people wait to use machines. Management doesn't seem to care because all of this has been brought to their attention with no resolve. What they don't tell you before you sign an 18 month contract is that they can't be asked to do their job. So please think carefully before signing up here I will update my review if at any point they decide to take their gym seriously, however I'm not holding my breath. We will not be renewing our membership.

One star for service but great teachers in the classes. I have been left to feel dismayed and upset at the poor attitude towards people supporting my son who has severe learning difficulties. Each time we attend we are spoken to like utter imbiciles....made to feel unwelcome every time. There have been many times my son has been spoken to and treated badly by gym users. On one occasion a gentleman asked if I would remove him from the pool. Its for proper people who swim he said. (Welcome to our world) My son is an excellent swimmer by the way. One woman said to me " you,I have no problem with but, as nodding her head towards my son, ,I have a problem with him." So that may paint a picture of what we have had to endure. Sometimes you get tired of fighting......and I am weary. Some of the reception team are less than helpful, not all though.. All I wanted was for my son to get fit, to enjoy getting fit and make friends. So after a horrible e xperience earlier this week,my son doesnt want to return.... he had to witness my upset and rage. So its a shame this has happened. To those who spoke so rudely to myself and my son, I hope you feel ashamed.

This leasure centre is full of top equipments, two lovely swimming pools, and a very big jacuzzi equipped with many types of water massagers. The facilities, cleanliness and the good management motivate you to go there and enjoying your exercise.

Great. Clean and tidy. Good sized car park and changing rooms. Mens changing room up stairs towards gym on entering then down to right. Same layout as the Chester gym but without the views from the poolside/spa. Spa jets also on buttons like most of the other branches unlike Chester timed delay only. Nice open airy kind of feel again simlar to Chester.

Total Fitness, Wigan provides a wide range of fitness machines and a large free weight area. Personal trainers are always available for informal chats on training advice. There are 3 pools, the smaller pool is ideal for aqua calisthenics, a larger main pool with lane swimming and a therapy pool with water massage and Jacuzzi features. In the main pool area there's a Sauna, Steam room and a cooler Sanarium room. The changing rooms are clean with lockers that require a padlock to secure and to top it off they provide free hairdryers. After your workout there is a small coffee shop offering hot and cold drinks along with a small snack selection. The car parking always has plenty of free spaces.

I have been a member for a few months and I am loving it so far. Great facilities for all the family including kids/babies. My husband and son are also members - the kids swimming pool is great for our 1 year old son, and there is a small play area in the lobby for him too. I would like to see more classes available and air conditioning added in the rooms and gym floor. I have had to leave the body combat class early in summer because it was far too hot in the room.

Recently signed up myself and wife the staff have been first class always said hello when we go to the gym very clean and great facilities

Great gym.. only let down by work lads being allowed in with filthy work clothes on .. just get changed and wear proper gym kit 🤷‍♂️ duty manager should be all over this , I'm a Heating engineer but never even think about going in with work clothes on ...

The only bad thing i can say about this place because it is absolutely fantastic is that if you have long hair and you've been in pool the hair dryers are not strong enough to dry it so i have to go home with wet hair ,its not so bad if its summer but in the winter its bad

We had a great experience here. Wanted a family pass, to be able to take the children to swim, and for us adults to be able to attend classes. They were able to sort it out super easy, we had a free swim on the day, to have a feel of the place. It's great, they have a book on system so it never feels too busy in the pool.

This place is literally my safe haven, Beth on reception (my old PT) goes out of her way to help and encourage me, as I do have disabilities. All the staff are so nice, it feels like a family. I absolutely love the place, feel safe and I'd be lost without it. Donna. X

If you care about your health and want to exercise in a calm and lovely atmosphere, you must pick this leasure centre. The leasure centre itself is a motive to do more for your body.

It's a good place. However, there are not a lot of gym and jacuzzi facilities if you want to take your child under 15 years. The family changing room has no swim suit dryer anymore, also very hot water in the showers for the children. Often weight machines are out of use

I have been a member of T.F for over 20 years & visited most of their other gyms over the years & whilst the layouts are basically the same I find the staff/ people at the Wigan branch the friendliest

Perfect place to exercise with a lot of help from instructors. Loads of different exercise classes and amazing pool area with sauna and steam room. The only let down is freezing changing rooms and showers.

Gym was lovely and spacious and the staff that belonged specifically to the gym were always friendly and helpful. Would not recommend purchasing any PT sessions with the PT'' s that are independent from the gym, if you want personal training sessions,, go with the ones employed specifically by total fitness. I booked sessions with one of the independents, and whilst a good personal trainer, the way things were dealt with in regards to lockdown were an absolute shambles and left me out of pocket. After being told at the start of lockdown that all my remaining sessions were safe and would resume when the gyms reopened, I then didn't hear from them again. My contract at the gym ended so I messaged and asked for a refund, no reply, so I went to the gym and asked them to chase it up with her but to no avail. After a month of waiting, I messaged again and started by being told I had no sessions left. After proving I did, was told her cancellation policy, which I was never made aware of, was 1-2 weeks after a session had been cancelled could not be refunded, despite it being the trainer themselves who cancelled the session and made no effort to rearrange afterwards. I was told this policy was no matter the circumstances, which under normal circumstances I'd completely understand, but it was a global pandemic which prevented me from using my sessions within the 1-2 week period, which is no ones fault! I understand many personal trainers who are self employed have struggled during this tricky period, but they are not the only ones affected. She refused the refund which I was entitled to, and was incredibly rude and accused me of deleting messages. With-holding an 18 year olds money is unprofessional and such a poor reflection on the character of this particular PT .Stick with the total fitness employed personal trainers, rather than the ones who just rent the space, they are just out to make a quick buck!

Seem to have covid regulations well under control. Excellent facilities 3 superb pools.

Coping with covid well. Good to see so many people keeping fit, suitably distanced. I was just accompanying my granddaughter for her swimming lesson.

Presently the covid restriction are letting it down. Not enough cleaning stations, not enough hand gel, not enough staff confronting those not adhering. I did not feel good being there. I know it's the members being selfish not adhering but staff have an obligation to try and keep their customers safe. I was there 2 hours and only once was a message played over the tannoy but actually anyone walking in should be personally reminded of their individual responsibilities.

Absoute joke this place. I use to be a member before moving away from Wigan. I have now moved back and called to join again only to be told that they now refuse cash payments. Total fitness had continued to take money from my account for 9 months after I left last time and only refund 3 of those months even though I had given it in writing like they insisted. This is why I don't want to give them my bank details again. For that reason I called head office and there attitude was its my problem there is nothing they can do to resolve this. To me it seems they can afford to loose custom because they ignore members when they choose to leave and continue to charge them. Its a shame because the staff are lovely and the pool is grate. However they have refused my money so I shall go elts where. The high management of the company should be replaced in my opion if this is now the way they treat someone who was will to hand over £484.

We go here for water babies. It looks a nice spacious gym with lots of machines. The pools are really good too. There is a little shop to buy food and drink which is good.

Decent gym. However the biggest problem is the Road leading to the Car Park, so many pot holes that you'll end up paying for new car tyres more often than you will be paying for gym membership. The car park entrance is absolutely terrible, on an uphill with giant kerbs that twists into an angle. For a multi-million fitness chain who charges their costumers around £45 per calendar month, you expect a much better location or at least a well build road surfaces that leads towards the gym.

Looked at all the options in the area with swimming pools before deciding on this place. A little more expensive than some others but you get what you pay for. Staff are superb - so friendly and the facilities are excellent. Cleaning regime seems good and the choice of machines and other equipment is great. Can book classes via an app and never an issue with overcrowding. The hydro massage pools are great for aches and pains and I thoroughly recommend this place. They are even resurfacing the road outside which was to be my only gripe !.

Good gym with plenty of equipment. The only thing that let's it down is how hot the gym is during the day. After my membership runs out I wont be renewing cos it's not cool enough inside. Heard many people complain but nothing has changed. The pool is great and the hydro pool is fab. .
