Where do I start? Appalling customer service, especially singing up a new member! My partner had a gym discount for both for us to sign up as a dual. However, at the time I was sceptical about singing up before seeing what it was like. I paid £25.00 for a guest pass for all of 3 hours. The next day I came to sign up with my partner, a man called Ashley, took my details and I explained that I would like my direct debit to go out on the 1st every month and Ashley said that was fine and he explained there was a pro rata fee of £25.00, joining fee of £60 + £87 for my first month £172.00. Anyway, they tried 4 times to take payment but there card machine wasn’t working. It also took an hour just getting details from me. Everything was agreed verbally and the next time I come in they will take payment from me. Ashley, seemed not to have enough experience dealing with customers. My partner Jen emailed the area manager Laura, Laura explained that only 1 direct debit will come out. But due to my partner and I having separate bills, she said my partner was responsible for both payments, if we would want to do this individually we have to pay ‘higher rates’. There terms and conditions are worded so poorly. As it states ‘each of those people will be responsible themselves, for any other people who singed the form and for linked members’ After reading the reviews, I am now glad to say, this has happened. All for the money and shocking customer service!

We were visitors of Chorley DL and had a great time playing tennis. The courts were great as always, and a special shout out to Claire (first aid) who came to my wife's aid when she sprained her ankle while playing. We will surely come again if we're around.

After a period of 4 yrs with DL chorley I've found the club to gradually go down hill. It's had some amazing instructors for classes come and go..... why only they can answer. But to replace the managers and blaze supervisors with kids club staff really!!!!!!! Blaze is about combat strength and Cardio yet the blaze supervisor A cant keep her guard up whilst punching and B sorry but doesn't push you like the ex instructors did. The club as a hole has a retention issue with staff!!!! Big changes are needed before I renew! Nepotism at its best here!!!!!

Good location at edge of M61 motorway exit. Staff are freindly and helpful. Unfortunately however there always seems to be one issue if not another. For example if the hot tub is working the steam room is closed. If the steam room is working the hot tub is cold. For the money members pay here to join (£105 monthly) it is unacceptable that there are basic maintenance issues and regular faults with facilities.

The quality of the club has dropped drastically in the past 3 months. The picture i took of the pile of towels is getting to be quite a regular occurrence. Towels on the floor, tables not being cleared up. For £175 a month I expect better. This place must have at least 1000 memberships so where's the money going?

I have been holding off doing this review as I could see they have been making necessary improvements to the gym, but I still can't get past how poor the outside pool and jacuzzi area are, honestly, anywhere else would have bulldozed it and hoped no one noticed as it's an eyesore, which is annoying as with some paint, a change in flooring and a complete overhaul of the jacuzzi it would look nice. So, 4 stars is the best I can do for now. The staff are exceptional and the range of equipment is diverse and generally well maintained (half of the gym equipment is brand new.... The rest looks 20 years old), there's a really nice feel to the whole place! Let's just hope they improve the outside and a few of the tired bits soon then I will happily update to 5 stars.

Great for Families. Their selection of classes is amazing for both kids and adults. However, a lot of the classes are booked out well in advance. So can't always make the most of it, which is a shame for the money... They should really put more classes on on Saturday and Sunday morning that work with kids entertainment. Trainers and Cafe staff are great.

I have been a member here for over 4 years and whilst I've found it good for the most time, my most recent experience of customer service is nothing but appalling. Today I phoned the club(0900) to ask to speak to the general manager and was told I would receive a call shortly. At 1400hrs I then spoke to the live chat team on the app due to no call to be told I would get a call from the GM. The time.is 1745 and still no call. It appears that they are happy to take your money but as soon as there is an issue they go missing I think il be cancelling my membership and go to a gym that values their customers Further to this I have now spoke to an Area Manager who agreed I and has rectified all issues for me shame it came to this

We have been member's for 8 months now. We love the club and all the classes. All the instructors are great. Dyan, Adele and Dan in particular are amazing. The club room staff are brilliant and work tirelessly to ensure everything runs smoothly. The kids classes are brilliant, the kids club staff are so lovely taking time to get to know the kids. The only negative things I can say is that the club is looking a bit tired and dated now. There is never any shower gel in the family changing room, or toilet roll in the toilet there. The family changing rooms do feel dirty. With the money you pay for membership you'd expect everything to be perfect. Only today my son found a tile that had come off the side of the pool. When I looked there were quite a few missing and sharp edges on these. The staff are fab but the owners let it down.

We've been members for a few years and always enjoyed the membership. However, the club seems to be on the downturn now. My daughter wouldn't eat her meal today, the fries were full of black bits and probably the oil hadn't been changed. Lift has been broken for months, the outdoor pool is out of action and the children's ipads are no longer working. I pay high membership for these facilities and will look to cancel if things don't improve.

Expensive but no other gym can match the facilities of David Lloyd’s. If you have the money & can justify spending £100+ a month to keep fit, I’d recommend it!

I have to agree with the other 1 star reviews on here. It's all about cost cutting, or at least that is what the perception is over the last 12/18 months. When I joined 6 or 7 years ago things were a whole different ball game. Everything has gone downhill, showers that no longer shower - recently they changed the heads in every club so now you only get an asthmatic dribble, toilets that have no toilet paper, broken equipment, filthy carpets that look like they haven't seen a hoover in years, the list goes on. Every time you raise an issue at reception you get 'we'll pass on your comments' and guess what... they do nothing to resolve these long standing issues. I look forward to membership coming to an end, I will not be renewing it!

Really enjoyed my experience at David Lloyd Chorley, got in on a friends guest pass and the facilities were great. The club room was nice and a member of staff called Josie was polite and talkative when ordering food.

The app says family swim from 9.30-8pm but we were told we couldn't swim in the afternoon (it's half term!!). No communication between management and reception. Yesterday the ladies changing rooms were flooded and people were half naked with men rushing through the area. Awful customer service, now trying to cancel this membership but even that isn't straightforward.

It’s okay, good selection and is clean but really needs a kick of paint and TLC, many of the walls aren’t even plastered or painted! The entrance is like walking into a poor school and needs brightening up

The staff are very helpful, friendly & welcoming towards everyone. I find the gym facilities are amazing. I also have two little boys who thoroughly enjoy swimming and love the pool. Even the children's area is genius. Me and the wife can enjoy a coffee whilst they play and we can still see them! Great place.

What a great club! Pool, sauna, steam room, hot tub are great for relaxing after a work out in the very clean, very new looking gym area! Love the sense of community with the monthly events like trivia and soft play for the kiddos. I’ve done a few Blaze classes and body pump so far and they are excellent! Getting me back into shape already! Clean and help staff as well! Excellent club!

We love this club as it offers so much for us and our child. The kids club is amazing and he loves going to all of the classes. The special entertainment is great too. There are regular activities like parties, pizza making, cookie decorating and the outdoor pool party. We’d highly recommend it.

Great, welcoming club. The new gym facilities are brilliant and feel much more welcoming than your average gym! The outdoor pool and cycling classes are exceptional. Janine is so motivating especially at 6.30am! Wouldn’t join anywhere else 💪

Great club! Only utilised when I've done the Mama Social group, but great range of food and drinks from the cafe and a great spot next to the soft play area!- great way to show off the facilities and always love a place you can order via an app! :)

Not worth the membership price in any way. Came on the £15 for 15 day in December deal to find the outdoor pool which I couldn't wait to try was closed the whole time. For over £100 a month ita really nothing special. I pay £40 for total fitness and you get nothing extra but double the price.

I have only been a member for a few weeks but really glad I decided to join. Staff are really helpful and members seem friendly. I find at the times I go that the club isn't overcrowded and the indoor pool is nice and a good size. Changing rooms are very clean and spacious and showers are hot with good pressure. The outside pool is looking a bit tired and sometimes not lit at night but I believe this is due for a refurb in the winter so will look forward to that. My only real gripe so far is with the platinum membership. The membership is supposed to give you a priority window for booking classes. However I have found it really difficult to get my child into certain classes, it seems the day they become available they book up very quickly in the 3-5 age group at weekends. I hope in future they decide to put on more classes if they are booking up quickly.

We have been here a couple of times now purely for the swimming pool. The gym itself is enormous with facilities for everything you can imagine. Indoor and outdoor tennis courts, squash courts, indoor children's soft play, cafe, sauna, steam room and obviously the indoor and outdoor swimming pools. That is just the stuff I saw on the way to the pool. There are male, female and family changing facilities which is great. I can only speak about the family changing rooms but they have lockers, showers, a baby changing table and seat (this is great for keeping the child in one place while I get changed). Once you are ready you will find a small very shallow pool for young children next to the hot tub. These are alongside the full size indoor pool. Outside you will find another full size swimming pool and hot tub. All in all I highly recommend going here for a swim!

We were here today entertaining for a child's Birthday party and the function room is amazing. It's really nicely set out and modern. The staff couldn't do more to help us and the family who booked. I'd highly recommend.

First of all: Classes and Coaches are excellent. However: Don't book a kids party here. It's been a terrible experience. Saskia and the team are the most unreliable people I've ever have to deal with.

Place needs renovating. I use the Cambridge David Lloyd and was in the area and will be moving to the area in the next year or two and was planning on just transferring my membership. Not anymore. I would almost put this on par with a council gym if it wasn’t for the entrance and club room. The gym is outdated, you can see that by having cardio equipment without screens on it. Everything looks crammed into one area. Weights area is nowhere near big enough. Changing facilities are almost on par to Cambridge. Swimming pool seemed alright but didn’t go in it. Steam room is outdated and looks like it was done 10 years ago. I had to duck to go through the door for the steam and sauna. I’m only 6ft 1. Filled up my water bottle and there was mould on the silicone. Overall this place needs refurbing. If I’m honest I would advise someone to join gymetc in Leyland over David Lloyd and again if I’m honest it’s worth £50 max and that’s only because of the tennis courts.

I don't usually write reviews but this had to be done. Been a memeber for almost 5 years. I enjoyed being a member but Now the Club has completely Changed for the recent 1 year or so. Don't even know where to start from. No hand sanitisers In some places like squash courts , canteen and so on. Having to go to reception to ask for someone to clean the courts. Simple hygiene is lacking. Blue rolls run out quickly and seems no one bothers to get new ones. Outside swimming Pool is Dirty and needs propa cleaning. Hotubs are out of use for weeks and weeks. 10 years to pick up the phone. Since they started to replace their old staff the club has started to drop drastically. Service is really slow and having to wait for 15 minutes or sometime just forget about buying anything. I can go on all day about this.

All that matters to this club is money. They will look for every possible way to squeeze every penny from you. Really poor value for money at Chorley. If you are going to join David Lloyd then try Bolton, same prices but better customer service and cleanliness. Better gyms out there though at cheaper prices.

A brilliant venue, the staff are always friendly and helpful in all aspect. Sadly as with anywhere there are some ignorant customers but the venue can't be faulted for bad manners. The venue is always clean and well presented and has facilities to cater for all ages or abilities. We visit regularly and am very pleased we made the decision to join.

  • 1/5 Mark B. 2 years ago on Google
I don't know who writes these reviews for this club. I ve been a member ad long as its been open. The only reason I stay is the Group have some excellent clubs. This isn't one of them as any of long term members will tell you. No maintenance professional, things take months to repair. Outside jacuzzi needs re sealing and fixing. Lift took months to repair. General hygiene poor. Too many 3 month memberships so it's like a public baths. These issues have been raised with the ever changing management who pass the buck to head office who pass it back. Its very simple INVEST in the club. You wouldn't get away with these standards in Surrey so why ignore the obvious?

Great gym, staff are amazing, especially Amber from the reception desk, she made me feel Really comfortable after my ankle injury on the tennis courts, she was very kind and caring. she made sure everything was in check and just really professional. Thank you!

Went just for the spa experience. Steam room still not working and the sauna is set far too low...just a warm room...even the shower afterwards wasn't very hot. Economising on gas, electric??
