😐 All the free weights and weightlifting machines seemed to be crammed into the ground floor. Ideal for cardio as upstairs has plenty of space. People often mention busy, equipment, good, machines, people, clean, times, great, space, Great,

Although puregym is ok. They are also only interested in your money and there is definitely no customer care. unfortunately Lynsey coulthard a personal trainer recommended by them was not. First impressions where ok, but they gradually got worse, she is very disorganized and unreliable. I paid for October and after she cancelled another appointment, have have not seen her. when sending her a message about this she became very defensive and totally irrational. I have not seen her for the month I have paid for and she has refused, a refund. Dan the manager from puregym has read her messages and had agreed that she is not organised and this is not really what the accept from the trainers. They have pointed out that although they are self employed, if she does refuse a refund which they feel I should have. I should peruse this threw the small claims court, as I have a good case. They never approached Lynsey and after promising me a month free with another trainer that never happened either. Unfortunately I definitely would not recommend Lynsey coulthard. As far as puregyms reply below they did absolutely NOTHING

I previously reviewed this gym as 5 stars. I have changed my mind. This gym is now breaking government covid restrictions. Since Liverpool and Lancashire has gone into tier 3 covid restrictions, the gym based in Chester is full of gym members from liverpool. I have spoken with people in and outside the gym who say the gyms are now closed in liverpool and they have broken covid rules to go the gym in chester. This is disgusting as now residents from chester are avoiding pure gym chester due to the large number of people in tier 3 areas visiting this gym! This could now contribute to increased covid infections in chester. I have cancelled my membership due to the lack of empathy to Chester gym goers. This gym has gone from a nice clean personal gym full of people who live in Chester to a gym full of people who flout government guidelines. What is the management going to do about this serious situation?? If people are happy to break government guidelines then there is no confidence that people will use antibacterial sprays, clean machines and wear masks. I have and my fellow chester gym goers have witnessed this practice first hand.

I have been at this gym approximately 3 years now and for the money it is very good value. The gym could benefit from a couple of new Olympic bars as some are bent. A few more pairs of 20kg plates for peak periods when the gym in busy would also be useful. Another squat rack with a solid wooden platform would be great too. Squatting in the other squat racks under cushioned floor increases likelihood of injury.

SmartGyms is a great place to workout. All their machines are quite modern and there's enough space to accommodate most exercises. A hot shower after workout is just the icing on the cake. Definitely recommend people to check it out.

Covid Review - each piece of equipment has it's own marked area, and for the most people do not cross into areas in use. There is plenty of paper towels and disinfectant available. Very few people use face masks, and it is not required by the gym.

This gym is very spacious, cardio upstairs and weights etc.. downstairs. Ive never seen so many machines available in one gym, all this for a great price! I would highly recommend.

Tried accessing this gym whilst working away from home with my multi gym accces membership and for some reason this gym is placed in a higher bracket in terms of membership. I decided to upgrade again to the higher bracket multigym access as I'd spent 20 minutes driving here and the pin still didn't work. From there I spent around 15 minutes waiting for someone to come see me after pressing the assistance buzzer but probably down to how busy the gym was and lack of staff they didn't turn up. I've been a member of PureGym since they first opened but slowly these gyms have got busier, the equipment less accessible and the cost has risen. If you don't mind waiting 5 minutes each time to use simple equipment at what's now no longer a cheap membership then this is the place for you.

Very busy at peak times probably expect it to get worst after all these new year resolutions. It's always very clean and has double of almost everything in their just dont hog the equipment. An issue I have is the business park itself always smells like human waste after a big sesh which isn't what you want

The gym is well equipped and spacious. Being open 24/7 is a plus - you don't feel restricted by timetables, even during the holiday season. During the confusing times of the pandemic, I remember some illogical rules being implemented, such as keeping the distance from members of the same household? Apart from that and having a sweatshirt missing from ladies' lockers, I enjoy being a member.

Excellent equipment to cover all body. Lots of space upstairs and ground floor. Plenty of cool air movement. Only one abb crunch machine but there is other equipment to target abbs. Lots of cable machines.

I was going to join this gym with my boyfriend but have heard from several people that this gym is now overwhelmed with people travelling from out of the area mainly tier 3 areas and have decided against it as I'm worried about contracting covid. If this being checked by the management I have no confidence in the guidance being adhered to here.

Really nice gym....clean. quiet for the time I went and everyone seemed respectful of others personal space. Clearly run well and looked after. Was extremely refreshing.

Gym is great. People are lovely. App is slow and glitching with Bluetooth permissions.

  • 5/5 Lucia M. 2 years ago on Google
Love this gym! Special mention goes out to Tom Adams, who is at the heart and soul do the gym, and always goes out of his way to make every member feel comfortable, welcome and part of a community. Visiting other gyms makes you realise Tom makes such a difference in creating a warm and friendly environment that is so essential to overcome gym anxiety! And the classes put you through your paces, but you always feel supported!

  • 4/5 Olivia P. 2 years ago on Google
love that it is 24 hours, can be difficult to find space/equipment in busier times but i always use the app to find quieter times to visit if possible. People mind their business and are friendly and makes being in the gym comfortable, as someone who often does not feel that way in these environments

Plenty of kit, and the price is right, but sometimes a bit too busy for the amount of gear, and some of the other customers let the place down 😬

  • 3/5 Steve D. 2 years ago on Google
Great gym, for gym goers..... However, it gets far to busy and people hog machines more often than not, texting whilst sitting on a bench instead of being courteous and letting other folk on the equipment in-between reps. No pool - not a deal breaker, far to busy for the size - deal breaker.

  • 5/5 James R. 2 years ago on Google
Can't argue for the price, can be busy after work but better in the morning before work. Equipment is always in good working condition unlike other 'premium' gyms in Chester

  • 4/5 Sean Y. 6 months ago on Google
Everything you could want really. My only complaint is that, on any given day, a number of the treadmills are broken.

Great gym, well kitted out and clean. One of the busyer Puregym's I've been to, but can usually get on the equipment I need without much bother.

  • 3/5 Gary S. 2 years ago on Google
What you'd expect from a commercial gym. It's opening hours sadly didn't make up for how busy It was even outside of peak......place was well specified with a good standard of equipment but how they are spread over the gym is odd in my opinion. Obviously this may be different outside of covid but it just for me didn't have a good atmosphere either. You can't please everyone and you either gel with a place or not and I didn't sadly.

  • 5/5 George W. 2 years ago on Google
It's 24 HR, which I really like. It's very busy at peak times unfortunately, but the equipment is very good and the subscriptions very reasonable.

Went for a look round before I decided to join... No problem at all. First session I chose an induction which was 1 to 1 a good show round and a few tips on what to do, great for the confidence. App is easy to use and gym easy to enter using codes etc so very secure even before 6am.

  • 4/5 Richard P. 6 months ago on Google
Staff are pretty kind and welcoming, however I require a wheelchair and getting to and from some of the equipment can be challenging at times, Especially when some machines for certain muscle groups are split between being downstairs and upstairs.

Wanted to give this gym a go rather than commuting home 40 mins from work and then going my local pure... If I hadn't been to other pure gyms before this one I'd be going elsewhere... its dirty, small, dark, kit is weirdly sectioned out and there doesn't seem to be a flow. Shocked its the only pure gym in Chester yet its dire. Can't believe its also Β£4.99 more than my local pure gym...

I really like this spot. It can get busy around the usual times. But off peak is decent. Plenty of machines and a lot of friendly people in the gym who will spot you if you need. Drinks are alright as well. Really affordable as well

Literally zero atmosphere at this gym, went in 3 am, after 5 am still no music. Like a ridiculous silent disco! Sort your lockers out too!!!! Have of them are knackered! Bent and won’t lock!

Fantastic gym! Beautiful space, great ambience, loads of weights and machines. Fresh air flowing through and wonderful lighting within the gym. Definitely the best of the smartgyms in town. Lovely and friendly staff as well. The lavatory facilities are clean and plenty of lockers available to lock in your stuff as you get them gains in. Well done Smartgyms family!

They play music in the gym so loud I can’t event hear what my podcast is saying. As well in classes the music is way too loud I can’t hear what the trainer is saying. They play the same music for every class over and over again

  • 3/5 Jack C. 1 year ago on Google
Lots of racks now with the new equipment which is good (shame the deadlift platform has gone, but it's not a huge space so gotta compromise I guess), but more leg machines and a hack squat would have been better than the incline/decline benches as it's easy to do incline/decline dumbbell presses but it's difficult to recreate leg extension/hamstring curls/hack squats without the machines if they're already being used

Started at 170KG, now i'm at roughly 80KG. Great gym The staff is so kind and welcoming, however when I was 170KG I did not fit in the pods.

Great gym. It's huge and has several of everything you could want for a workout. Free weights go up to 50kg. The only negative about it is that it's quite busy. Extremely so after work, around the 4pm to 7:30pm, then starts to quieten down after that.
