Right in Cavern Quarter, amazing if you’re looking for a silly night out, love club classics, or enjoy live music. Good location for exploring the rest of Liverpool. Staff were friendly and helpful. Had to move rooms because of issues with another groups bookings. Room I was in was a bit of a sauna during the night, and didn’t have any windows, but other rooms didn’t have that problem. Looked after our bags during the day, no problem. Overall, a more than good enough hostel, at a very nice price.

Very very noisy all night till 5am. Avoid room 105. Not a place to bring kids. Stag do, hen do would be fine though. Have monopoly boards, scrabble etc but no pieces? They do not do the normal breakfast that is offered in the hostels. The place looks like it isn’t quite ready to receive guests. I’ve stayed in 30+ Youth hostels and this is by far my worst experience. Leaking roof into breakfast area. Leak in our room, we reported it, nothing done. Staff are nice and friendly but pretty clueless.

Really really noisy. Unless you’re out clubbing til the early hours, don’t stay here. Also room and bathroom were uncleaned; which staff readily admitted. Unlike any other YHA, there is no self catering kitchen, plus no meal service when I was there as cook had gone home, so only options were take aways or meals out. Intermittent wifi. Not recommended.

Location is good if you're after a party. Obviously due to the location it's going to be noisy. Room was honestly abit grim. Tiny 4 man room with no window or ventilation made it disgusting stuffy and hot even on a fairly cool day. Bedding was clean but the rest of the room was fairly dirty. Shower didn't drain properly so would flood the tiny shower room making it very awkward to get changed. Bed was comfy though and usb points and wireless charging by the beds was great

The noise was worse than expected and pretty much unbearable. Very stuffy with no ventilation. Might be alright if you stay out until 4 every night.

Check if you are in the same room. We have book to bedroom in one room but they split us and we first now during the check-in. They didn't have enough key room so we had to ask someone attention the reception each time to go in the bedroom. There is a lost of noise all night long so make sure you don't go there for resting. Some bedroom don't have any window.

For three days no one brushed my dorm floor or the bins were always full. It didn’t have a kitchen or a fridge. The lounge area wasn’t open 24hrs. It’s literally in a middle of the Center which depends on you , if you like peace and quiet, can’t be a good choice. But i like how close it was to the train station and late night loud music was good, the vibe in the streets were lovely! Wifi was great and water was hot for showering. Overall was an okay hostel.

Pros: Has friendly staff Shower works well, is nice and modern Right in the centre of Liverpool Breakfast / reception area is fantastic - feels like a completely different place to the rest of the hostel Good price Cons: Definitely basic - literally just a bed, shower and lockers Not the cleanest - I found biscuits and other food in my bed from previous guests. I also found random stains on the walls (one looked like blood?) Beds uncomfortable - bring an extra pillow with you This isn't the fault of the hostel, but due to its location in Mathew street it's very noisy until about 4am in the morning. Overall, was alright. I'd probably stay here again for the price. The breakfast and reception area is great as well.

For a hostel!! This is pretty good!! We had a VIP 6 bed suite for a stag doo. Place was really clean, beds were comfy. Location is perfect for bars, clubs and shops! Really recommend to stay here on a night out in Liverpool!!!!

Lovely staff, clean and my room was ensuite and had a good setup… but BEWARE this is a very noisy location. The windows in my room were single pane, chilly despite the electric radiators, and at all times I could hear the music from the street outside containing many bars loudly. There was no way I was going to sleep even with earplugs so left. The music would eventually stop later in the evening (very late on Fri and Sat) but with single pane windows I knew I’d here the drunken crowds partying outside to the early hours even after the bars closed. This is an excellent location in theory but no parking and whilst there is an NCP deal for a particular car park they are still expensive. If you are going to party then this is probably a good option. If you are a family or someone seeking sleep I’d strongly suggest you avoid. The communal areas, especially the staircases and lifts look really tired which is a shame as my room was nice (minus the rubbish windows). I think this site should come with a very prominent noise warning when booking.

Amazing Staff, rooms very clean, beds with 3 plugs and light. I stayed in a room of 6 and we had one bathroom, one shower, and an extra bathroom/ shower for people with disabilities. I left my backpack there so I can visit the city peacefully and it was safely held in their locker room. For 20£ the night this is amazing. I’m so happy with the hostel that now I’m off to their Manchester branch!

The worst experience ever. PLEASE AVOID! If you are a mom, avoid even more! My and my son arrived to the hostal at 1am in the morning. They welcomed us and charged me for the room I booked previously, and only after they charged me, the front desk guy told me I couldn't stay because I had a child with me. NOWHERE in the booking it said children were not allowed in dorms. I asked for a private room, he told me there were none. Everything was fully booked. He was as rude as could be. His name was Connor btw. So, he left me and my 4-year old son in the middle of a rainy night with nowhere to go. I didn't have battery on my phone. I had to take a taxi and asked him to take me to any hotel. As soon as I arrived, I logged into Booking and there it was: a private room available at YHA that apparently the front desk guy didn't see. He also assured the refund will be done the next day directly to my card. Well, it has been more than SIXTY DAYS and nothing. They did contact me after leaving a review on Booking, and they offered me a refund and a bit more because of the inconvenience, and asked for my account details. I replied to the email with the details and waited and waited. I contacted them again asking when should I expect the refund, they said they never got my account details, apparently they were lost in the cyberspace or nobody in that hotel can do anything correctly. So I sent them again on October 12 and they told me it will take 28 days to process the refund!!! Well, it's December 20th and nothing... And now no one replies to my emails, they ghosted me!!! Well, let's see if someone replies to this one. But if you are a traveller, please save yourself an awful experience and choose another place to stay, there are many other beautiful places that DO care about their guests.

I stayed over on New Years Eve. It was pretty dreadful . there was nothing happening for the occasion, no music or events organised. the dorm room next to the lifts on floor one was stifling with minimal ventilation. Also what was the point of the green light that was on the whole time? I thought it might be better in the morning but unfortunately breakfast just continued the awfulness. please note that continental breakfast should include some cheese meats, along with preserves and fresh pastry, not two day old ones. the one star is for the staff, who were quite helpful when they were around.

Bad hostel, we stayed luckily one night. We checked in around 10 pm, got into the old room which was dirty and crowded, no ventilation. Bathroom was disgusting and small. No amenities, just one bar that charges you everything, neither a free coffee offers. At 10 pm, bar closes and if you need to stay in common aerea to wait for a train, they closes bathrooms too!!! How are they going to shut the bath out!!! No kitchen neither! Won’t come back.

Amazing staff. Lift available. No communal kitchen available so you can't cook for yourself. If requiring a kitchen would recommend YHA Albert Docks instead (gave that 5/5) If booking a taxi, ask them to meet you on Stanley Street. Comfortable beds and bedding. Can get cold so bring hot water bottle/buy heat pads from £land or boots. Bring a water bottle.

Stayed a night as there was no train home that late. best hostel I have stayed in so far in the UK. towel hire is only £2. soft drink machine available and you can pay by card. The female dorm I stayed at had a separate living room, all spacious, plus a toilet, shower and a whole different disabled bathroom. everything was clean and comfy. I recommend this place.

  • 3/5 Mike J. 11 months ago on Google
Cheap hostel with OK facilities. Unfortunately, no bike storage in a neighborhood where the staff itself says it would be unsafe to lock your bike outside for the night (!) Late music from the neighboring pub. A good place if you are just into partying.

It's a YHA so you can expect a good standard of cleanliness and fairly comfortable beds, with a duvet, pillow, and bottom sheet supplied. The staff are very friendly and quite helpful. I didn't need anything beyond checking in and out, but the vibe was good. The location is convenient for central Liverpool. A caveat and a big one is that it is in the middle of a major clubbing area. The windows are not soundproof, so if you struggle to sleep with music or clubbing noises, this is not the place for you (unless you go on a day when the clubs are not open). The room was BOILING HOT and at one point I woke up and had to go out for fresh air it was almost like being in a (very dry) sauna. The shower and bathroom area were clean and worked well enough (though no soap supplied in the shower). However, the light is automatic, so if your bed is by the bathroom you will get the light shining on your face no matter what. Also as they do say, towels not supplied but are rentable or you can bring your own. The bed had two power outlets, a USB outlet, a light, and a shelf. Helpfully, there's also a screen along the bed by where the pillow is so you get a bit of privacy. For one night and at an affordable cost I would recommend, but if you struggle with noise or heat I'd recommend looking for somewhere in a different area (I believe there's another YHA in another part of central Liverpool).

Very very good located, in front you have many bars to go at night and it's near of everything, was clean and it's good to spend maybe one of two nights, I stayed in a shared room and was good. Just no more than two nights would spend there

  • 3/5 Sion J. 8 months ago on Google
Good location but the rooms where extremely hot just could not get air in the room found it stupid that they only give out 2 door cards for a 4 man room, I found room was very run down for the money I expected better

Disgusting bathrooms with mold between the tiles and in the ventilation. Had to kill one or another silverfish. Windows are very small and hard to reach. The ventilation in the bathrooms isn't really strong. Found some hair in the bed and contact lenses on the night stand as well as some other personal leftovers from previous occupants such as socks, pills and earplugs. (Note: I went there with a group, so these are collected experiences from various rooms) For the time of my visit only one lift was in use despite the building having four storeys with many rooms each. Very central position in Liverpool, in the middle of the famous Matthews street. There are a lot of pubs in the street, so it is very noisy during the nights. However, overall I enjoyed my stay here. The Café Area on ground level is very nice and despite the rooms not beeing very hygienic, the food tastes very good and is handled with care. (Note: the owners informed us, that they just recently took over the hostel and are planning to renovate the building)

Can recommend staying here if you like being close to the station and lively pubs. The Beatles museum is right in the front street to it. The staff is super friendly and nice. Shout out to Jens, who recommended an itinerary for a day to see things in liverpool.

Iv stayed in 6/7 hostels in Liverpool and this one's the best. Very spacious and great location. Clean comfortable beds with nice showers and toilet for each room. Staff are great and it has a nice bar at the front.

Well I’d like to congratulate them on making the s****** breakfast I’ve ever had . They had all the three T’s : Tight, tasteless and too cooked. I’ve supported and ate at special needs cafes before and they’re miles better and the food was edible unlike here ! My partner and half a cup of tea and a gallon of milk to accompany it . Staff was lovely and nice but Jesus food was dreadful , I feel like I’ve aged 20 years waiting for my food , off to spoons now down the road .

Ideal for 1 to 2 nights. Excellent proximity to night life. Sound from pubs is heard until 2am or so. This may be disturbing for longer stays. My 4 bed ensuite was decent enough with clean bathrooms. Ventilation or exhaust fans should be provided. Good experience with room mates.. was a memorable stay... Bfast was good.

Was solo travelling in Liverpool and needed a place to crash for the night. This hostel seemed like a good choice. The location is perfect for sight-seeing and is very close to all the iconic Beatles locations. Saved a lot of money on public transport as well. The rooms are also very affordable. However, the cleanliness aspect and the facilities werent great so Id recommend this only if u want to crash for a couple of nights.

  • 4/5 Arran D. 4 months ago on Google
An absolutely ideal little hostel just 10mins from Liverpool's city centre. Discounts in the downstairs cafe for residents are a brilliant bonus, and with a range of very busy pubs just downstairs, the night life is ideal. However, I imagine that this could be irritating for residents who wish to get an early night. The rooms weren't the best, but the beds were certainly comfy enough to get a decent night's sleep.

Hostels can be hit or miss depending on who's there but I had a great experience at Kabannas, Liverpool. Prepare to pay for food rather than cook as there's no kitchen and do bring earbuds or plugs as the outside noise is a lot, but noise is pretty standard and you can find great value food around. Absolutely brilliant location, give it a shot.

  • 4/5 Phil C. 6 years ago on Google
Friendly staff and late bar. Reasonable breakfast (though a full fry is available nearby for the same price). Clean rooms and decent beds. Unfortunately the room was very warm and music from one of the pubs below can be heard quite late. If it's a cheap stay you want, this is your place.

The rooms were a little more cramped than expected. Toilet and Bath was inside the 4 bed dorm which was great. Bed and the linens were fresh and comfortable. Heating also was on point. There is an elevator as well so it helps if you have a luggage room. Although you you have to pay £1 to use the luggage room. That's even before the check in or after. Towel is £1. The staff at the reception and in the bar was very helpful. For the price and the location which was the best. It was a good experience. Can't expect a lot more. You can get a taxi from just outside the hostel and everything is just a walkable distance. All stores, stations and bus stops.

English breakfast and jackets potato was awesome.

  • 2/5 Helena S. 2 years ago on Google
Far too noisy due to single glazing and being surrounded by bars. Didn't feel safe as a man tried entering our room in the early hours and another had tried taking our keys on check in (he had apparently stolen from them earlier). Did not sleep well (woke multiple times). Shower had hairs in and whole place felt grimy. Expensive for what it is.

Good price and it is really in town centre!!! This was first time I was in hostel and no tv was a bit surprise to me however I found out that this is normal 🙈 Beds were very comfortable and clean. Bathroom not so pretty but I have seen another room and it was nicer. You can hear noises from outside if your window is open but as soin as you close it is quiet. Never had there breakfast or drink though so no opinion. Staff very friendly. You need to pay for the towel £1. They have hair dryer and iron at the reception. Overall good stay!

  • 3/5 H N. 2 years ago on Google
Decent enough for a hostel. Friendly staff. Great food. Main issues were the lifts were out of order and the noise from the club's was something else! If you are staying here with a view to clubbing, recommended. If you are a light sleeper then no, don't stay here.

  • 2/5 Rob K. 2 years ago on Google
Do not stay here if you are bringing a family the noise Is on another level. Your basically on top of a nightclub, bar, and the worst of all it sounds like a karaoke bar, can here about 4/5 pubs and clubs in full swing. Not the typical feel of a pleasant friendly yha , the beds abs set ups arnt the typical yha set ups either. Staff arnt the usual typical yha staff either for me. Id say avoid at all costs if bringing kids…

Was very clean and organised. Staff were friendly too. Only thing is the bar wasn’t open the entire time we were there. There was one at reception but I believed it closed at 4pm. Also doesn’t have a microwave or fridge.

  • 2/5 Liv s. 1 year ago on Google
Not as pictures described, the wallpaper wasn't attached to the walls, the floors of the rooms were unclean, the rooms were small for school trips. The beds were in the middle of the room and it was not all inclusive as described when looking at the photos. There was no pool table and the rooms looked nothing like in the pictures. It was loud and we had to purchase ear plugs as we couldn't sleep.

  • 3/5 Kyle W. 1 year ago on Google
Location couldn't be better if what you want is to be at the center of Liverpool. Reception is 24 hours, very friendly guy at the desk. And the price was good. My real issue here is the room itself. It was very uncomfortable: there were no windows in the male dorm, and the room was overcrowded. Everytime you open the bathroom door the bright light shines through the room. There is also no AC, only a non-stop running fan in the middle of the room. The fan did work okay, however; it is not too hot in there. It is not a great situation, but if you are traveling alone and don't mind these certain discomforts to save money, then go for it. It is totally okay in that case and will serve for 2 nights max. Good luck and happy travels!

There was two of us for just one night for a night out. When we arrived we loved the location and the fact it was close to everything. Unfortunately we got into the room and it was absolutely awful!! Way too hot. All the beds were taken. Absolutely no mirror or anywhere to get ready for the night ahead. Toilet was filthy and room was just smelly tbh. We decided to book somewhere else last minute, when we went downstairs to tell reception the young man didn't even apologise, he just went "Alright" then shouted "What room was you in?" ... Customer service skills are shocking. Beds were rock hard. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone and especially if you're going out on the night time. They're probably going to disagree with me but hey. This is an honest review.

Excellent location! A bit loud at night but is in the centre of St Matthew Street. Close to everything. The staff is kind and available. The hostel doesn't have internet in the rooms and even in the common areas. (at least, I didn't have access to the common areas. However, in the rooms, we don't have aces, at all). Clean spaces and rooms.

  • 4/5 Aidy H. 1 year ago on Google
It was so affordable. We had a private room with a clean private bathroom. Looked dated but you get more than what you pay for. Would stay here again in Liverpool for sure.

Very annoying cuz of the clubs. It felt like I’m sleeping in a pub. Literally! Cleaning was fine. Bed wasn’t comfortable at all and there’s no Wi-Fi.

Very central location for clubs and pubs though that can make it noisy. Friendly staff, reasonably priced cafe/bistro.
