A stunning location only a few miles from the hustle of the city. From pine woods that give way to sprawling rolling sandunes that meet the Irish Sea. This part is much quieter than Formby pinewoods. If you're after serenity then this is the place, it's a hike from parking in the streets around Woodvale but worth it for the quietness. Highly recommended!

Beautiful place for a walk. The lake area is suitable for disabled people too. Excellent flat path for mobility scooters round the little lake. Highly recommended and totally free. There is no parking at the site but cars can be left safely on Pinfold Lane with no worry about time limit. Please take a bag with you for rubbish as there are not many bins.

A really stunning place that's a haven for some rare UK wildlife. There are amazing walks, lovely views and dunes that go on for miles. Rangers are friendly and very knowledgeable. Parking is limited. Please, please keep your dogs on their leads, when visiting here, so as not to disturb the wildlife.

This whole area could be put to far better use. You could have mtb trails through the pinewoods with jumps and burms. Instead there are signs saying cycling is not permitted in the woods. The main path that runs alongside the train tracks is completely dominated by dog walkers, with the majority of them allowing their untrained and unruly dogs off the leads - despite signs saying that dogs must be on a lead and under close control at all times. You could also do with providing a car park and possibly a cafe to get some revenue.

This is one of my favourite places to visit and get lost in the woods. With so many trails you can immerse yourself off the beaten track and might not see another person.

Really good place to come for a walk or even some cycling/running. A nice walk along the canal path towards Warrington. Absolutely peaceful on a warm afternoon.

Fantastic place for a short or longer when in the area. The mixture of pinewoods, sandunes and beach makes the walk varies and interesting and it's always changing due to the effects of the elements.

Even on a cold December afternoon, it's still a wonderful place to walk, ride or run.

Wonderful place to explore, so much to see and hear. Clean and signs are simple. Open skies, hearing the ocean while walking through the mainly pine forest. Variety of funghi edible & none. Also, dog friendly too. It will be different in every season. Would recommend.

Great place to visit, free parking, tarmac paths, green open spaces, picnic tables, bird hides, amazing views of the new Mersey crossing bridge! Woodland trail as well. Dog friendly!

A nice place to walk and breathe in some fresh air but unfortunately there's no toilets here. Good for dog walking or just a brisk walk. There's plenty parking spaces. A small cafe with toilets would be great here. Some great views of the river and the two Bridges that cross the Mersey.

A nice place to walk the dog, lots of different walks you can do so can be as long or short as you want really. Couldn't find the centre that's run by volunteers but maybe that was further than we went. No toilets around so that's a shame as it means you cant spend as long there as you might like. Met friendly people and they all kept their dogs responsible so that was good. Went in the rain and it was nice so can imagine its nicer when it's a dry day. Overall a good place for walking.

Great for walking the dog, however it baffles me that some dog owners either leave their dogs waste or bag it and then throw it in the trees. Totally disrespectful to the area and to the other people using this community area.

Pinewoods are lovely to walk in. Could do with a bench, seating area, along the way for a little rest.

You can park by pedestrian railway bridge parking on Easedale Drive (great for kids who love trains) and your'e straight into the park. If you have a buggy/wheelchair the residential roads just off the Coast Road bridge work well. You can then walk under the Coast Road, or cross it if you're careful (50mph speed limit). Lots of buggy/wheelchair friendly options from the road entrance (Pinfold Road, where you could drop someone off as well) and a beautifully secluded little lake. Best bit was walking through the pine woods to the sand dunes (just keep heading towards the sea, about 15mins til it opens out) to a quiet spot for picnics, walks, sketching and playing in beautiful clean dry sand - feels much more remote than Formby pine woods or the sand dunes by Ainsdale beach. It doesn't feel flat like much of the landscape nearby, and no road noise when we were there. Thanking God we've found it. There's also a path that runs alongside the railway tracks which will be excellent for a family bike ride.

We're so lucky to have this beautiful nature reserve on our doorstep. It is so tranquil and just the place to be when you need a break from the world.

Wanna get out, walk, get fit, enjoy wide open spaces with no orwellian COVID-19 restrictions? While we have the weather, this is the place for you.

Please don't go here. I love it and it's one of the few places left not overcrowded with lock down exercisers

Great place to walk the dog. Not recommended when the weather has been wet as it can get muddy.

Nice place to take the dog for a walk. Has varied walks through the woodland and a broadwalk around the pond which depending on the time of year has dragonflies.

I find this area very relaxing any time of year. The mix of tree and dune habitat and the peace and quiet makes a very tranquil place. Some of the lower "slacks" paths can get a bit wet during/after rainy periods but as long dresses accordingly just a brilliant place to be.

Not anywhere near to park but a beautiful clean woodlands with access to the sand dunes. A nice picnic area too if you can find it.

The pine woods are a great place to visit. A mix of beach and forest. Does get very busy at times but usually quieter in autumn/winter as you would expect.

I'm probably being a bit unfair. Definitely not a place for kids who don't like dogs, we took our 2 year old and the sheer amount of dogs off leads was ridiculous, one owner wasn't anywhere to be seen when 2 big dogs came running to us and our daughter started screaming, the owner still made no effort to take the dogs away and just slowly walked up and laughed it off. There's bags of dog poo everywhere and dog poo on the paths, litter too sadly. Maybe a few more bins dotted round would help, we only saw 1. Could do with a bit of attention to make it look a bit neater, not bothered about returning

Excellent place for walking, views of the River Mersey, birdwatching and a very close up view of the new Mersey Gateway Bridge and in the far distance the older Runcorn Bridge. Not a good place to be alone, very late or very early as it is a little isolated and away from mainflow.

Very nice walks and good views of the mersey gateway bridge and fiddlers ferry but could do with more bins as there is only one in the whole area of wigg island

Lovely place to visit. Mersey on one side & MSC on the other, a great place for walks in nature. Hard to believe how beautiful a place with a once dark history has become.

Brilliant tranquil place for walking. Really enjoy it here. One thing let's it down, lack of policing and security for the car park against the childish drag racing and donuts in the car park with small want to be racers. There's a time and a place and when there are families coming for a walk in the evening it's clearly not the time or place.

This is a hidden gem in Runcorn, it's surprising how many people aren't aware of this place. It's great for photography, Pokemon GO (If you're into that!), dog walking, cycling, running.. the views are great especially in the summer months. Definitely my favourite place in the town.
