One of the nices beaches I have visited because of the peace and quiet 🀫 and we came on Friday afternoon. We left the car on Wirral country park car park and then followed the signs for the beach. I was well impressed as there weren't a lot of people at all. My daughter was a bit disappointed because we didn't get to play in the water even though I did check the high tide time, 7m wasn't high enough, opt for 8m and you will get the sea close enough. Plenty to explore, you can't play on cliffs but I liked just looking at them as they seemed very dramatic in places. Highly recommend this place for a peaceful day out.

Gorgeous peaceful beach. The dog loved it. Park on the country park car park. Pay and display. 2.00 for 2.hrs . Walk over the bridge on the Rd by the frizzies cafe or cut through the country park by the whistle stop cafe over to the right and through the gate on the right and follow the to the beach sign. 2 min walk. Down the wooden steps . Nor ideal for infirm so bear that in mind. The country park is gorgeous with lovely views and picnic areas . Frizzies dog friendly cafe too is great. Lovely staff and a doggie menu.

Disappointing experience. Wouldn't call this a beach per say... it had a lot of pebbles and a lot of mud. (I don't mind pebbles, but when a child is trying to build a sandcastle it's not very helpful!) It was difficult to walk and have a splash about with wellies on. Don't know how people were in it. It's very unkempt (some would say natural)... It wasn't for me. The reviews are very misleading especially to someone who travelled over 2 hours to get to it... We did see someone picking up massive bags of rubbish from the beach, which was nice to witness. There were no litter about which is another positive.

Lovely quiet beach on the Dee estuary looking towards North Wales. Great for a day out or a walk. It's beside the Wirral Way, so you can walk along the beach and return by the Wirral Way to your car. There's a good carpark at Thurstaton country park that is 50p for an hour or Β£2 for over 2 hours. There's a nice cafe near the carpark, if you want a snack or an ice-cream.

The beach is nice and the walk down to the beach is nice. Unfortunately you couldn't get to the ocean because of the low tide and all the mud/estuary. We did enjoy walking along the sand and the view was nice, just wish we could have gotten closer to the water. We didn't have trouble parking, but I can imagine you might if you come later in the day. Parking was cheap as well. Nice beach to visit if you are in the area

Lovely long beach with beautiful views over to Wales. Fanstic on a lovely day. It is possible to walk to Parkgate and West Kirby along the beach (at correct tide times). Accessible from Wirral Country Park via steps or from Dee Sailing club via a road/ramp. Car parks available at both places. There is also a nice cafe at Wirral Country Park.

Lovely views down the estuary towards West Kirby and across the Dee to Wales. Make sure you are wearing good waterproof footwear as it is VERY muddy in places.

Lovely clean beach. Good stretch to walk on. Although it is steep with alot of steps to get down and its tiring climbing back up. Water is clean. Car park is medium sized and there is a cafe (never visited it though) it links with the wirral way circular trail so can walk that too. Does get busy if the sun is out or weekends.

Thurstaston cliffs are "Devon cliffs of northwest." Just in a very small scale. While all people are crowding in overrated and boring Crosby beach or nice, but crowded north beaches of Wirral or around Prestatyn/Rhyl, west part of Wirral is relatively empty. Steepy curvy stairs leading to the top of the cliffs together with amazing views over Wales, excellent services and plenty of benches took my breath away. Thurstaston beach is an amazing place and I'll be there soon, but this time I will use bike routes around

A hidden little gem. And a really beautiful family walk. Especially whilst your trying to escape the troublesome yet somewhat endearing conversation of mortgages, investments and future financial prosperity(s) between my two beloved Son's Thomas and James (Jim), who are now suddenly men. β€οΈπŸ™

We had a great time at Thurstaston today. We parked on the Wirral country park. We couldn't find the steps down so went down the cliff edge, but found the steps to get back up. We had an ice cream from the visitor centre. Clean toilets too. 100% recommended and 100% We will be back

A great beach with beautiful views of North Wales and the River Dee. The visitors centre is great and there is access to toilets and a cafΓ©. The council have greedily added parking charges this once free day out, and you have to pay via an app, which is even more ridiculous.

A popular stopping point on the Wirral way. There's a great picnic area near the visitors centre with tables and benches. The centre itself is closed during the Covid-19 lockdown, but people have restarted walks along the way and the beach. Popular with cyclists. Nearby Parkgate has famous ice-cream parlour that's now reopened.

Pay for parking πŸ…ΏοΈ nice beach - very quiet and has a winding path down and up with steps. There are quite a few pebbles and when the tide is out it’s a little muddy when you walk out.

  • 5/5 Early B. 5 years ago on Google
If you want a lovely quiet place to go for a walk along a beach then this is the place.. it's not a resort, no hot dogs or candyfloss. Just a part of the Wirral, Where the mouth of the River Dee yawns.. car parking is easy and it's only a short walk to the beach. So if you either want to see and look. Walk or Beachcomb then this place is highly recommended

πŸ‘ Always a lovely walk, however my wellingtons that I escaped from some 6months ago are still immortalised in the quick sand so be careful, there is a lot more warning signage now…. Sunsets hear are by far one of the best I’ve seen and there are lots of little pockets on the cliffs to watch it from… S...
