Visited Heswall Gusto for a lunch with my husband, as always the staff were friendly, warm and professional. Our food was spectacular and we were offered a vegetable dish not on the menu when we mentioned previously having it. Despite it being a Tuesday lunchtime and relatively quiet the atmosphere was still very enjoyable, relaxing and staff took their time to look after us. We will be back again soon.

We stood at the bar for ten plus minutes and were completely ignored. The two staff on the bar were clearly extremely busy and obviously doing drinks for the restaurant too but to leave two people standing without a ‘we’ll be with you in a minute’ is shockingly poor service. Thank you to the restaurant manager who acknowledged us initially but then left us in the poor hands of the bar staff. We should have stayed at the Burnt Truffle where the service was excellent.

Lovely food, nice atmosphere. We love Gusto, but they now automatically add a 12.5% service charge to all bills that require a manager to authorise the removal. We live in the uk. Our minimum wage is a good level. If I appreciate the work done by the team for my meal, it is my right to leave a cash tip. Automatic tips in the uk are a scam by the company. When asked, we found out 35% of the automatic tip went to staff, the rest to the management. If you want to raise your prices or pay your staff properly, do so, don’t randomly add an additional charge. It is a scumbag approach.

Well you know how good this place is going to be when you ask for the bill when you get served your main course for the waitress to inform you that they will be knocking £50 off before you've even tried it. Very slow service 1.5hr wait for the main course and we were told that we had a maximum of 2hrs from our reservation booking time which we didn't get to the table for another 15 mins so basically left 15mins to rush the food down. In relation to the food small portions compared to previous visits, food not cooked as requested, duck under cooked when asked for well done it was pink and chewy. Some food was cold. The burger was dry and served a good 5 mins after all of the mains. Emailed and got no response so i called them to ask if the received my complaint and i was told that they are too busy looking at getting new business

Been coming here for years and last couple of visits have disappointed. Last time we have stale bread with 3 meals and portion sizes that appear to have reduced by around 50%. At least service was good! Most disappointing is we provided comprehensive feedback on the night and yet no one bothered to get in touch to discuss, explain etc. Sounds like things are on the slide!

The staff are very friendly and attentive. However, in terms of food I was disappointed. With the price you would think fresher food and more effort was paid but this is not the case. I would go again for a drink outside in the sun though.

Monday evening family meal. In my opinion the restaurant is run badly. 15 minutes before order taken/ drinks offered Starter took over 30mins (Olives and bread dosnt take 30minutes) Main courses took over 1.5hrs with very poor portions. Lasagne luke warm.We were so hungry after waiting we reluctantly ate the mains but complained. In fairness to the manager he took 50% of the food bill. However our experience of a family meal was not enjoyable. Won't be going back to Heswall Gusto.

Not very impressed. Not much choice on the menu and food just ok. Used to be a favourite restaurant but wouldn't bother going again.

Always loved this restaurant, especially the Heswall venue as its more atmospheric/intimate. 3 of us ate here on Saturday evening & all bar 1 meal was outstanding (lasagne was dry & a bit blah tbh). Service was great as always. Recommend the scallops, risotto & steak.

Arrived on time for our booking. A little wait to be seated as it was very busy. We where seated at our table and presented with the menu. It is a varied menu with starters, nibbles and mains for every taste. I opted for the slow cooked pork meatballs to start. Fantastic and they melted in your mouth with a beautifully seasoned sauce. For my main I chose the Gusto classic burger. Very nicely presented and tasty but I would of preferred my burger to have been still a little pink rather than well done. A great amount of skin on fries and sauce also accompanied. The dessert menus where placed on the table. Now I think the dessert was Awesome, great presentation and bursting with flavour and so well made. Biscoff cheesecake was the highlight for me 👌, highly reccomend. It is not the cheapest place to eat in Heswall but the service is good, food quality very good and cheesecake is spot on. We will be back in the future........... P.s it can be a little too dark in there. I saw a few people using their phone torches to read the menus. Take a head torch 👍

We saw they had a 3-meat ragu. Haven't seen that in a lasagne for 40 years so you've got my attention! We had pizza, prawns and the lasagne. All were excellent in flavour and presentation. While the ragu was less intense than the recipe I've got, it was sensibly dialled back for the locals and refreshingly authentic take on northern Italian cooking. Don't miss the tiramisu! Bags of flavour and light as a feather. Service excellent also. Enjoy...

Lovely restaurant and nice food but avoid if you have an allergy. Completely messed us around with my wife's allergy, served everyone else before we could get our food and ignored us when we asked. Havnt been to a gusto since before covid and those has stopped me from wanting to go back to any others. Terrible experience

Our go to place. We enjoy everything about Gusto Italian. The decor is beautiful, great food and amazing service. We really like the spaced out service, so many restaurants want you in and out quickly but not Gusto. Highly recommend the Ragu.

Very lively on a Friday night, almost completely full, mainly with the bright young things (housewives or not) of Cheshire. Service was great, timely and with a smile. King prawn starter was very tasty indeed. I had mushroom pasta for main, which was OK. I holidayed in Tuscany for many years, and this was a favourite dish. I often felt I'd died and gone to heaven. Gusto's version made me think I was at the Pearly Gates. Overall, a very good experience.

Very disappointed the other night. There for a family meal, obligated to pre order the day before due to being a party of 11. Started off OK, drinks and starters served but then an hour and a half wait for our mains although tables next to us arrived (party of 6) ordered from the menu and served before us! No valid excuse given when we queried the delay. My starter of prawns and pickled fennel... well nothing pickled and all served swimming in some sort of tasteless liquid.... main of honey/lemon/thyme chicken in romanesc sauce.... no hint of lemon, honey or thyme.......🙄......DISASTER!!!!!

What an amazing meal we had! From start to finish, was so good! Front of house, guy was so polite and welcoming. Our table was awesome, it was my partners 40th birthday. Went for the Chateaubriand with a bottle of Primitivo red wine. Honestly, the best steak I've ever had. Vegetables were fresh and perfectly seasoned, and our waitress was efficient and looked after us well (AJ) Great food, great atmosphere and great staff. Thank you for making our night memorable, can't wait to come back!

Food: I had the Seabass at Gusto last night. It tasted unbelievable! Really very good indeed. Staff: Helpful and friendly. Mike in particular was brilliant. COVID: All staff kept masks on at all times. Hand cleaners all over the place. Distances tables spaced perfectly. Atmosphere: It was a busy evening with a hum of chatting which was nice to hear after all this time!

Beautiful setting and excellent service made this special birthday meal even more so! The food was lovely, and the waiting staff were very welcoming and friendly, always making sure our drinks were flowing and everything was great with our food. The restaurant is gorgeous with twinkly lights everywhere and is quite large inside even though it doesn't look it from outside. We had a fairly large party of 11 adults and 3 kids and this was no problem at all for the restaurant staff. Would definitely recommend and we will certainly be going back!

Generally the food was tasty...had the fish option but the soup was disappointing. Super friendly staff but feel the menu needs reviewing

The menu was ok but not great. The Rib eye was advertised as on the bone but it wasn't and some parts were not edible prices are in the upper range including drinks. Good service and friendly staff. Not somewhere I would re visit.

Went to the Heswall restaurant for the first meal out with my girlfriend. Absolutely gorgeous food, great service, lovely atmosphere and all round one of the best meals out I’ve had! My girlfriend is lactose intolerant but the restaurant catered for these needs brilliantly and were incredibly helpful! Would highly recommend to anyone and a massive thank you to all the staff for such a lovely meal!

Highly recommending coming to this beautiful restaurant. Starting from the entry and the welcome Customer service is at it's BEST. Menu is presented on easy to read and understand print. Food choices are wide, great, spot on and include some not common but very interesting dishes/desserts. Interior and atmosphere is beautiful, well arranged and posh at the same time. If you live in the Wirral, go and treat yourself to very tasteful time. If you are visiting Wirral, make sure you visit this restaurant to return home with tasteful memories.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Young waiter with blue jacket particularly good with customers as was young lady with glasses. Fast service and very clean restaurant. Good ambience and vibe. Food was good quality and tasty. Both the lasagne and belly pork were lovely. Portion sizes not too big or too small for me at least. Would recommend 👍🏼

Great ambiance, nice menu, nice ingredients, nice wines, great staff, fairly consistently let down by the execution in the kitchen. (And I've eaten here almost ten times before posting this). For example today, pork belly was tough and no crackling. Clearly shoved in a hot oven for an hour. No crackling at all. Flesh tough, fat not rendered. How do you mess up pork belly? Just slow roast the thing on low temp and it turns out amazing every time! All previous times before I always have a similar experience, where the actual execution in the kitchen has just been poor (duck overcooked and tough, prawns underseasoned and bland, I could go on and on).. It just seems like the chefs are either lacking ability, training or just don't really care that much. Disappointing as the owners have nailed everything else and if they just got the actually cooking part right it would be a great restaurant. Every time I go here I'm hoping they have figured it out, but nope...

Usually enjoy coming here. However tonight was shockingly bad. Arrived at 520pm to have a roast dinner only to be told, after ordering our drinks, 'we're not doing roast dinners ". So we ordered our starters of dough petals. Waited over 30 minutes while other people received their starters and mains before us. Our 3 kids also complaining about the wait. Once the mains came my lasagne was burnt and over cooked. Sent back. Tasted foul. pasta was slightly undercooked and had little to no sauce. The kids burgers were dry and overcooked. Service was quite poor and slow too. Already paid a deposit for mothers day. Hoping this was just a one off.

The food was amazingly tasty and the atmosphere was really good...however, waiting an hour for a pre-ordered set menu seemed a bit excessive and not very well planned. Also, when we asked for the bill, it took another 30 minutes to turn up as something went wrong and we were still charged a service charge! The cheek! To top it off, when we eventually left, we were still hungry ... lucky that Silk Rd is next door though to come to the rescue. Overall, very tasty but not enough food and very very slow and unprofessional service.

Very nice looking restaurant. Staff were very polite and welcoming. We visited for an 18th Birthday family meal. Tables were clean. Food was ok for an Italian. I chose Carbonara, which was nice. Everyone who ordered pizza's said they were the best they had eaten. Lasange was quite a small portion to what other places serve. Desserts were nice, the chocolate mousse was delicious. Tiramisu was again a small portion and was ok. Can be a little pricey but it is in Heswall. Toilets are upstairs, so this could be difficult for customers with walking difficulties.

Beautiful place with a lovely atmosphere. The staff are very helpful, friendly and accommodating. The food was extremely tasty and of excellent quality .. well worth the price paid. Would highly recommend a visit, you won't be disappointed! Definitely a 5 star from me!

It's a buzzing and loud restaurant do don't go if you are looking for a quiet romantic meal ☺️. The decor is lovely, with olive trees decorated with lights. It's a different menu from mainstream Italians , prices reasonable and staff were helpful. They were busy and did miss off part of my meal but made amends, via the bill.

By far the best place to eat and drink on The Wirral in my opinion... You must try this place you won't be disappointed 😉
