Without doubt one of the most chaotic visits to a restaurant I've ever experienced. The location itself is beautiful which is why it's such a shame. The menu was different to what was online and the temporary menu was bizarre to say the least. You could either get a panini or a lobster for an extortionate price. The outside patio looked tired and requiring a refurb and plant pots down the side of the restaurant full of dead plants. The food was okay but not brilliant and overpriced. The service was chaotic to say the least. Staff seemed untrained and not attentive which was bizarre as it wasn't even that busy. I used to love visiting here but cannot justify returning any time soon unless they buck their ideas up. I don't usually write poor reviews and feel sad doing this one as it has everything going for it as a venue but things need to change or else customers like me will not come back.

Booked online a few days earlier and had the confirmation email got there to find the whole restaurant booked out for a wedding. After asking us if we made the mistake and proving we hadn't we were told to wait by the bar. We then basically got ignored while being surrounded by wedding guests. Decided to go as they must be busy and we were feeling rather uncomfortable being uninvited and all that so thought best to sort it tomorrow. All correspondence has been ignored. So we are Β£20 down in taxi fares and nothing even close to an apology from the restaurant.

Fantastic food. Well presented, good portions, excellent quality. All with some idyllic scenery across the Dee Estuary. Not quite a 5 star review due to service. You get the impression the staff are all new. No one directing them. It's very hit and miss if you manage to get anyone's attention at your table. They are missing a significant amount of extra income due to this. We weren't asked about drinks, deserts, coffees etc and it was easily 40mins after we'd finished eating before finally managing to get someone's attention for a bill. Not all of this time was spent waiting, but it was perfect time to upsell those extras mentioned above.

Sheldrakes has always held a good reputation but unfortunately our visit was poor. Different menu to what we read online, no music or atmosphere, we were the only customers. It could do with a good clean and a lick of paint. Hopefully things can improve because it’s such a shame.

I've just had my wedding at Sheldrakes, upstairs and it was amazing. An incredible setting, relaxed atmosphere and the food was delicious. All staff worked hard to make sure everything was in order. I highly recommend Sheldrakes.

What a great venue! A small but excellent menu. It was a pity that on such a warm and very sunny day, they don't provide umbrellas/parasols for shade. We therefore had to sit indoors. Pity

The staff were so friendly and couldn’t do enough for you. The food was delicious, we had two courses and struggled to get through dessert and the portion sizes were big. I highly recommend visiting this place and would go again! I didn’t catch the name of the two gentlemen working on Monday 21st June but they were great and did an amazing job!

Sorry for the late review. This was in May of this year. Had a great lunch until it came time to leave. On the way out, was asked twice by the manager if we had paid. Second time I actually showed her the payment receipt! Made us feel we were leaving without having paid! So much for a nice experience!!

The only reason I'm giving this place 3 stars is the location. The food is green king standard at best. There was a very rude girl that when I asked for the bill she sighed and and turned the card reader around as if to say if you want pay come here. Get new staff and a decent chef and I would return .

We booked for a group of 30 for my mums 60th birthday. We were given an area upstairs that was stunning with great views. Food was fantastic and friendly service! Would definitely recommend!

Is not a chance to see the funny side. Like the chef said regarding the note ..From a restaurant that they respect their clients! I understand everybody have good and bad days. But is unacceptable to order to coffee.. Receive them after. 10 minutes.and after Somebody to bring the table cloth for the table.. No spoons.. No sugar no salt.. Place is dirty unfortunately.. After 4 months or how long it was closed..(during covid pandemic) Now. Should be immaculate.. But is not!! And that's very disappointing and definitely never recommend it for. Our local community!! Food. Was uncooked (paella) u can see. From the picture the rice is raw (even not al dente) years ago was so delicious but now doesn't worth anymore! Looks good but taste is totally different

Went with my wife, after charity friendly game at Anfield special 4 course dinner, Very enjoyable meal, started with fish platter, then we had a delicious and tender steak with trimmings, we both enjoyed the perfectly cooked main course, then had a beautiful sweet, followed by cheese and biscuits, the view of the sunset was to die for. Staff very attentive without being obtrusive, furnishing and decor very lived in, and I received a bite from something in the furniture.

When walking up to Sheldrakes you'd be forgiven for being apprehensive about what you'd booked for as the marshland around it can look desolate and in need of a revamp HOWEVER if you let that put you off you will have really missed out. The owners can't control the area but what they can control is the restaurant and they do a cracking job of it. The attention to detail from the very attentive staff, the ambience of the restaurant, the amazing views and the fabulous food all make it a lovely evening! It has a real feel of a holiday taverna and makes you feel like you've had a real break from the norm. Lovely place! The owners and staff deserve a real pat on the back!!

We had a fantastic experience at Sheldrakes today. We decided to go there to celebrate my Wife's birthday and we weren't disappointed. The staff were extremely friendly and attentive. The food was outstanding. All in all, a great meal in beautiful surroundings. Highly recommend.

My wife, friend and I had really great experience. Service for spot on. Bartender manage to prepare for us a drink that was not on the menu. He did it perfectly. Food was amazing in presentation and taste. This restaurant is worth every penny for a delicious dinner with friends or romantic date. Thanks Sheldrakes πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ€©

Had a great time at Sheldrakes. Overlooking the estuary and the old boats, on a beautiful sunny day, enjoying drinks on the terrace and traditional Spanish music playing in the background. It felt like being in Spain, loved it.
