Fantastic meal in a lovely environment. All 3 of us had the pork belly; the presentation was incredible and the flavour combinations innovative. Service here good too. All at a very reasonable price. Would definitely return.

First time here for a Sunday lunch, and really couldn't fault it. The food was very tasty and plenty of it. Puddings if you can fit one in, are gorgeous. The service was excellent too, always a genuine warm welcome from Andy and a lovely bubbly young lady serviced us with a warm welcome as well. The atmosphere here is a friendly one, always is. Dog friendly too, we had 2 dogs with us and greeted with a cold bowl of water and lots of cuddles.... Team Jug and Bottle, keep up the good work.

Lovely hotel in a lovely location. We stayed one night. The room was to a high standard and had views of the River Dee and Wales. Spoilt for choice with the dinner menu and the food was excellent as was the breakfast. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Tucked away in the posh bit of the Wirral, Sunday lunch here was generous and tasty with plenty of options and super helpful staff. Good value for money too. We didn't stay over so don't know what the rooms were like but the bar and restaurant were really well maintained and comfortable. Roast beef recommended!

We always have a great time when we go. There's lots of room and the plates are warm (very important 😀) The staff are all helpful and obliging. Food is wholly acceptable and the portions are worth the price. Keep up the good work Jug 👏

Staff are incredibly friendly, food was very nice indeed, the rooms very clean and well kept and everything is reasonably priced. Slight issue with food being added to my room that I'd paid for the evening prior when ordering, but the lass sorted it and issued a new bill in a few minutes and was very apologetic, so can't fault her service. Would recommend to anyone visiting the area!

Food & service brilliant. I had fish n chips & hubby had pie n chips. Dessert was really nice except couldn't taste any orange in the chocolate orange sauce with the chocolate fudge cake. Still very enjoyable though & definitely go again.

All departments of this delightful small hotel/pub were excellent. The Bar service, Kitchen, Housekeeping, The rooms, Cleaning services, Reception, Restaurant staff & Management all were 100% on the ball. The décor despite it being Christmas is extremely tasteful. The down side to our visit was that we were only there for 1 night. Heswall is in a perfect location for visiting The Wirral. I fully recommend it.

Went for lunch here with my hubby. We had the nut roast which was delicious and I highly recommend. Great atmosphere, efficient friendly staff, the number of diners is a reflection of how good the food is and it was very very busy. We finished off with a delicious dessert. Really nice place to eat.

Room was clean , tidy, lovely adds in room makes it feel welcoming. Bathroom looks new with walk in shower. Very fresh colours. Went for a few drinks and meal. Very good meal Sunday roast with good amount of roast beef, lovely fish meal too. Lots to choose from the menu. Good price for a fresh meal. Good nice sleep no noise to be heard. Breakfast from 7.30am think.till 9am, thought could later ? As its a bit if rush getting up....poss 10.30am be better. Local breakfast items, really nice to have it set out ready for you, then hit food ordered from menu. Came hot and filling. Visited for lunch on Tuesday, we ordered the small fish & chips and the steak ciabatta. The food was so fresh and we both enjoyed our meals. Staff were friendly and welcoming. If you are in the area and fancy some lunch or tea, then this is the place to be ! Looking forward to returning very soon

Went for an early Saturday evening meal with my son’s young family. Really nice place. Great pies! Very accommodating and attentive. Car parking a bit of an issue and we had to use the pay and display!

Decent food, but this is more of a hotel bar than gastro pub. Staff are great, it's pleasant, but it didn't feel like a pub.

Went with my sister and brother in law for late lunch. Lovely surroundings and atmosphere. The staff were friendly and helpful. The food was excellent and the lemon meringue cheesecake was so delicious that I had to finish it even though I was full!! I would definitely recommend the Jug and bottle and look forward to visiting again.

A really lovely pub overlooking the dee estuary. Food is really good and well cooked. Great service. Definitely will return

Lovely little pub. The rooms were a little dated and corridor carpets certainly need a good shampoo. Beds were comfortable if pillows were a little watery. The restaurant was very good. If I was local, I would be a regular customer! Service was excellent. If I was ranking for just breakfast or dinner, I would give an easy 5 stars.

I've liked this place since last century when I first went! I had haddock and chips which should be standard fare anywhere but this one managed to be the best. Fish was perfect, batter was crisp and not too thick, chips were good right to the end, no soggy ones and the peas were garden peas mashed with mint. Also tasty tartare sauce.

Great lunch menu. The beer battered fish and chips (small) was superb. Really fresh and tasty. And the local beer "Trapper's Cap" was the best pint I've had in ages. Good prices, super friendly staff. Highly recommended 🙌🏻👍🏻🍻

We came to celebrate my mums 80th birthday. They took very good care of us, we're really friendly and attentive, and helped make it a special evening for her. The food was great too. A big thank you to all the staff.

You can park by the pub restaurant. We were a party of four and had a voucher for 20% off the food. The wine was expensive however. The service was good on this Thursday night. My wife was gluten free and ordered John Dory which was supposed to have a lime sauce. However we weren't convinced that there was any lime on the fish. Though the fish was excellent and tasty. We had a camembert starter and got a whole heated camembert which was more than enough for two. I enjoyed the chicken wings with soy sauce and sesame seeds with salad. The fish pie was quite good as well.

We had an evening meal in the restaurant on a Friday. The food was excellent and exceeded expectations. The staff were attentive, friendly and helpful. The pub was lively with a vibrant atmosphere, but eating in the restaurant enabled us to chat to each other without having to compete with the bar hub-bub.

Nice little pub with averaged priced drinks. I was impressed that they serve chips that are suitable for vegans, as they are fried separately. The staff are friendly and there is a decent outdoor seating area for when the weather is pleasant enough.

Very nice atmosphere, if bringing a dog make sure you book a table in that section. The Sunday roast was very good , both the pork, beef and nut roast. Yorkshire puddings were too big, dry and overbaked, a bit of squidyness in a Yorkshire inside is always a plus. This was already a repeat visit

Can recommend the food here. The pigs in blankets are fantastic, and the steak pie is fantastic too. Good range of beers, nice surroundings and excellent staff.

The Jug and Bottle is an upmarket, if not gastro, pub serving very good food from an eclectic menu with pretty much something for everyone. The food prices are very reasonable and there is a fair selection of wines to choose from as well as a number of good beers. The service is friendly and efficient. Definitely to be recommended.

A very pleasant Sunday lunch at the Jug and Bottle. Four of us including family from ‘the South’, we chose the Jug without having been there previously and it was a hit. We were very impressed with the staff who obviously have had some excellent training to carry out their roles with professionalism and great understanding and respect of their customers. Although a lot in hospitality trade are bemoaning the shortage of staff, that did not appear to be a problem at this establishment as both drinks and the food were served up quite quickly and piping hot. The quality of the lunch was excellent although maybe the roast potatoes could have been cooked slightly differently to make them a little more crispy but that was only a minor problem. Well done to all at the Jug and Bottle and we shall most certainly return.

Some decent food let down by absolutely shocking service. The waitress told my friend to learn to read when he misquoted the menu (asked for bread and olives, when the menu item was bread with olive tapenade), and said that lots of people have made the same mistake today. Maybe update your menu if people continue to get this wrong? At any rate, she was incredibly rude and belittling. My only comment on the roast beef was that it was excellent other than the shared veg, which wasn't a great selection.

My stay was great. The staff were friendly and helpful. I will be going back. Breakfast was good, I rarely have a full English but regret not trying it here. It was easy, competent, not completely soulless like a Premier Inn... Exactly what I was looking for. The room was as described and in good condition. It had blackout curtains which would have been useful if I hadn't arrived and left in the dark! I forgot to pick up a vat invoice whilst I was there but they emailed one afterwards.

Twelve of us, including three low single figure children with their particular requirements, ate Sunday lunch here. The restaurant coped admirably, and my roast pork with all the trimmings was delicious. The only thing I would say is, it's nice to be served with a smile, and the young woman who served us couldn't manage that. What made it all the more bizarre, is that with the next table - similar large group - she was all beaming sunshine! Perhaps she knew them. Or perhaps we are miserable ******s. But I don't think so. Anyway, Top Dollar to The Jug. Recommended.

Stayed over for a single night and had such a pleasant experience. Check in/out was effortless and staff were very nice to deal with. The room itself was very cosy and had all the required amenities. Pints were well priced and breakfast was fabulous. Definite value for money located in such a nice area

Had a lovely roast beef dinner with all the trimmings. Food was delicious and really good customer service. The only reason I gave a 4 instead of a 5 is that I had to ask a couple of times for ice

Re fillable pot of coffee. Fruit juice.

Staff are very good, food let it down, my wife had the liver, it was very tough and the gravy was so strong in taste it totally took over the dish, she left it. I had the turkey roast and very much enjoyed it, will go again as feel this may of been unfortunate.

Exceptional. Stayed here as we were visiting family. From the first moment you walk in you are welcomed, so friendly. The food is absolutely amazing and reasonably priced. The rooms are so nice, they are spotless and very comfortable. Amazing stay. Definitely recommend.

Excellent meal which was gluten and dairy free, really friendly staff and lovely atmosphere. Stayed overnight and the room was really comfortable and spotlessly clean. Breakfast was great and offers everything from full cooked to cereal. Have now made this my go to place when I am staying over for work.

Made a table for 4 reservation, (actual was 3 persons) for Wednesday May 25th 19.30Hrs in the Bar area. Waited on by a very pleasant young lady, we chose our usual main course "Battered Haddock/Chips and Peas. When the food arrived, it was hot but the chips and fish looked darker in colour compared to usual. The batter on the fish was not light and crispy, it was more leathery and the fish had been over cooked. The chips are normally chunky, fluffy and cooked to perfection, what we received were chips that as mentioned, darker than usual, and the appearance of having "shrunk" a sunken look and some were actually exploding as they were cut or a fork put in them. I booked the table because my wife had just come home from Poole in Dorset and it was to save any home cooking, my wife did not want to make a fuss so nothing was said or done right away, but when the young lady who served us came to the table, I gave her some of the chips that were completely dried out and asked her to ask the chef if "He" would like to eat them, we received an apology from the chef via the young lady, and then some +/- 10 minutes later we received a small bowl of chips, these had been cooked to perfection, just as we would have normally had. Not the best experience had!

A fantastic pub/hotel. I recently stayed here after my wedding and the staff couldn't do enough for us to help make our stay special. The room was beautifully clean and tidy, breakfast was delicious with plenty of choices. We will definitely be going back for our anniversary and many times before 😁
