Firstly, the food is overpriced. Saying that the chef didn’t feel happy sending out ribs (rather just admitting you’d run out) and then sending out a steak so overdone I could have made shoes from it and gammon so black it was inedible, was clearly just a lie. Secondly, not only did they delete my comment on a Facebook post stating that we didn’t get the advertised discount when we visited, I have since been blocked for asking where the terms and conditions are for the discount! Very unprofessional and will not be returning. We were there not only for a birthday celebration but also to see if it was a suitable venue for one of our guests weddings. Absolutely will NOT be recommending this place to anyone after the treatment we’ve received.

Gorgeous location, fabulous food, brilliant staff. Were happy to veganise an amazingly tasty vegetarian dish. Shame there was only one main to chose from. That being said the omnivores said their dishes were really tasty.

We have came here for many years but noticed over the past two years that food quality had slipped. We decided to give it another try with the current offer on (50% off starters, mains and desserts on Mondays and Tuesdays throughout September) and so glad we did. The food we had was lovely. We had 3 courses (mine: Autumn Veg Soup, Chicken with garlic mushrooms and fondant potatoes and treacle tart). Well worth taking advantage of the offer to dine in on these days! My sons portions were a really good size for him that he couldn't finish. Husband had meat and potato pie which was delicious and again a good size. Restaurant was empty so plenty of seating. Hopefully word gets out that food standards are on the up.

Fabulous as always Staff fab Safety measures in place, felt totally relaxed and tables distanced Spring rolls and pate Both had 8oz rump Onion rings side 3 pints beer £42 all in with discount ❤

Shocking food. Went for a Christmas night out. Entertainment was average but the loudest PA system. We were in a group of 14 with ringing ears! Now the food OMG awful! No joke but 2 people on our table broke their teeth on the brick like roasted potatoes! Cold food, overcooked no taste. No excuse these days. The plates our hot food came on felt like they had just come out of the fridge. If we hadn’t been in a large group I would have refused to pay. Avoid!

Went to this restaurant to celebrate my grandsons christening have been to Sunlight to celebrate different events and the food has always been lovely . This time chips were not the nice chunky chips just hard french fries the sandwiches really dried up . Last time we went was October for my daughter's baby shower the staff would put a bowl of chips on different tables and a selection of sandwiches really nice This time they put the food on a small table for guests to help themselves. Did complain to the manager not interested. Will not be going back .

Nice ambience, tasty food at very reasonable prices, and friendly attentive staff. We will be returning here soon... 👍

We booked a table for 5pm but due to changes in our circumstances we arrived early. They were more than happy to amend our booking. The food was amazing and the Guinness was a delight on the warm day. I did get confused how to open the sliding door but I now know for future visits.

Went for a 60th, we had the whole conservatory to ourselves. All the food was delicious and the staff were super amazing with all the kids. I'd definitely go again

My family and I held our mum's wake here. Staff were lovely, attentive and friendly. Food absolutely delicious, cakes were amazing. We'd fully recommend.

First time I've been, and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by not just the food but the staff as well . We had the 3x10 tapas, which was very filling and absolutely delicious, food presentation was superb, and everything was cooked perfect . Interior of the restaurant is modern and clean with a nice decor. The staff are the finishing touch to a good experience here , very polite and attentive not overbearing and annoying like I have groan to expect . For me a winner of a night out, my only moan is they didn't have Stella on tap, but that would've just been too good ha ha 😉.

Visited on a Sunday and told to sit where we like. Plenty of room and not many people dining. We were seen quickly and our drinks and order taken. We opted for Sunday roast, bit of a wait considering how quiet it was but not too long. The food was presented very well and was delicious. Good portion and loads of flavor. Interior was nice and the staff were all great. They also do themed nights with entertainment. Will certainly return.

Me and my partner had our evening wedding function at Sunlight restaurant. We both had a fantastic evening and all our guests commented on how great the venue was. Excellent food, amazing staff and a wonderful atmosphere. A big thank you for making our wedding so special.

We visited on a random Tuesday afternoon after some local shopping. The waitress was nice and we were able to pick our table. We both ordered the pie one steak and ale and one chicken, ham and leek. The atmosphere was dampened by the soundtrack of downbeat tunes. The food arrived and was presented well I soon discovered the mushrooms in my pie that had not been listed as thankfully I only dislike mushrooms and don’t have an allergy, and I did mention this to the waitress who did offer to swap the pie for a different one. The pie pastry was a little hard and needed a firm knife to get through. The thick cut chips looked good but the centres were not soft and fluffy but still had a bite in the middle.

Staff are so friendly and helpful. Unfortunately the food really wasn’t great. Went for afternoon tea, the sandwiches were pretty basic and the coffee was very weak. Might be better in the evening for hot food?

Lovely meal for 12 of us today after forgetting to book, food and service was exceptional 👌. Helpful & polite staff as always. Thanks again for fitting us in and looking after us for mums birthday 🎂

Lovely experience at the Swing Evening at Sunlight last night. Food delicious and plentiful. Singer amazing. Plenty of space to dance too. A great night had by all xx

Not sure if there is a difference between a cream tea and one with clotted cream but they definitely weren’t serving clotted cream.

Very disappointed. I had sweet potato and kale curry and rice. No kale. Portion really small. Paid extra £4 to add chicken and got 4 tiny pieces each about the size of a 2p. Complained and got £2 off the bill. Wish now I'd sent the meal back but it was a work retirement and didn't want to upset my colleague

Lovely little restaurant. Sunday dinner was lovely, portion sizes are just right and the dessert are absolutely spot on. Staff are freindly and polite. Little bit more expensive than other places but worth as the food is a lot better quality.

Roast dinners from here are shocking. I got a black an burnt Yorkshire pudding which would have broke your teeth. 2 small roasties, 1 piece of cauliflower, 2 small rock hard pieces of Broccoli, 1 parsnip on a small strip of sweet potato and a piece of undercooked lamb. Prob cost about 3 quid to put together and they charge £21. My niece had rock hard chips too. I would avoid this place, it charges premium prices for poor quality badly cooked food.

Atmosphere and service great but Pink Tribute cancelled and we hadn't got the message , disappointed but replacement was good. Food tasted beautiful ,had the chicken roulade and then the lamb but there wasn't a lot of it, could have done with few sides of veg to go with it instead of the one huge carrot( which tasted lively by the way ).

We held our wedding here and it was everything we hoped it would be. The food was fantastic, the staff friendly and so helpful. The restaurant looked absolutely beautiful and nothing was too much trouble. I'd recommend 100%

Went there for the first time on 27-03-22 (with 8 others). As it was Mother's Day, the place was very busy, but the staff were superb - friendly, efficient & attentive. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal!

Was quite a disappointing experience in all fairness. Food was pretty average, one of our party ordered the tomato soup for starter but was only told moments before the other starters arrived that it was actually a totally different soup. I ordered the fillet steak and asked for it to be medium rare but it came out pretty much well done. Wouldn’t go back which is a shame

Amazing food, outstanding staff. In addition the waitress Charlotte both made and saved our day when we were worried about my apple watch dying and having to head back the long way rather than taking the tunnel. All staff we met here were absolutely outstanding as was the food and we will absolutely definitely be going back. Ps - the garlic bread is awesome, made without cheese for me!

Visited Sunlight Resturant and Bar for a friend's birthday and a catch up with friends that I hadn't seen in nearly 2 years! The staff were more than welcoming and attentive whenever we needed them. The food was delicious (I had the spring rolls and a HUGE fish finger sandwich!) Our party also had an afternoon tea, all of which was made fresh to order. A lovely afternoon!

We had a fabulous hen do here last night. The food was amazing, the cocktails and drinks were amazing and the staff couldn't help enough. It was brilliant. We were dancing until 1am! I would highly recommend!! Thanks again to all the staff you were all great!

Great roast dinner, good portion size and very tasty; the beef was thick yet tender and succulent. Recommended. Would've been 5 stars but had a very long wait due to a large party. Would definitely go again.
