Called in here on our way to Crosby. It is down the bottom end of the main drag of shops and Waterloo train station. Purchased traditional breakfasts, these arrived hot and quite quickly. As per usual they need to cook a fried egg with a nice runny yolk instead of the dried up ones that seem to a regular thing on their brekkies. A nice beer garden at the rear. On street parking on the opposite side of the road which can be hit & miss depending of times of day you arrive. Would visit again if around Waterloo

It's a Spoons. Cheap (not as cheap as it was) and almost cheerful. Pleasant enough when we were last in. Food was on the good side this time but I suppose it depends who's in the kitchen. We've had some of our better quality Spoons meals in this one. My pint this time was actually very good being Brightside's, Manchester Skyline. It's a 'lively' place. Tons of very young kids on our visit. Sit back and take it all in. Good luck.

Shocking place, took my 78 year old dad in for something to eat. The place wasn't that busy, but they stopped serving food because the chef couldn't cope, due to the fact he was training 2 members of staff or so the manager told me. After about 20 mins they started to serve food again, well that's what I thought, but they couldn't fulfil half the order. I have been to weatherspoons all over the country from London and Cornwall to the Lakes, I have never been so disappointed as I was last night. Also the fact that someone has pointed out that this is not the way an establishment should be run, and gives them critical criticism does not mean that they are being horrible and aggressive. Do yourselves a favour, there are a lot of good local places to eat around waterloo and give this place a swerve.

Was hoping for cocktails and gins with the wife which is the norm for any spoons. Instead got foul mouth teenagers. The place was full of them. Have a word with the doorman please because the venue is fantastic. We had 1 drink and left.

Always busy, nice atmosphere with the usual excellent selection of drinks.....Great gin selection. Started doing pup quizzes. A nice spoonies with decent decor and was one of my favourites plus outside space. Friendly staff too, always in there for a good pint of Guinness.

Visited for breakfast 6th October ,a slight wait but when breakfast arrived it was really tasty and plentiful. Just a little feed back a small plate for the toast,(lovely bread by the way),would have been most useful.

Breakfast as you would expect from Wetherspoons at a reasonable price . . But please wipe your tables and serve food with clean cutlery 😟

One of the better Spoons, inside is more like a swanky bar, tables were clean, staff were buzzing around, shame all spoons dont play to this tune! I went to the one in Runcorn and it was grim in comparison.

Went last night for my birthday ordered vegan sausage chips and beans .my partner ordered burger and chips. Both arrived very quick which normally be impressive but my meal was vile chips stone cold sausages very greasy. Partner ate his meal because he was hungry but I couldn't eat mine it was not good. But on a good note my meal was refunded so cant complain about that but wouldn't eat there again never. But the drinks are good and they have a good selection so I would still have a drink there

Casks good. Went in for food with family. Everything we went to order they had run out of. No gammon, no fish, no steak and kidney pie and didn't have the curry we wanted. Thought it was a joke at first tbh. We just ended up with a burger which tbh wasn't brilliant. Chips were luke warm. Onion rings were all stuck together and burger was cooked but once again luke warm. Made me think had they been already cooked and sitting under the lights to keep warm. Shame really as I like this pub but won't bother with the food again

The food is to die for. Its a busy Pub you will be served very quickly. They have many types of beers & Cider. I would give them 100% and I will definitely go back

I went with family and it had good service. Went with a lot of people so there was not any tables we could all sit at so we had to improvise. It took a while for the waiters to collet the dishes after the meal but it was a great place to eat.

Visited around lunchtime and had a bit of a wait in getting served & found it one of the less amiable establishments

Basically open plan with hidden coves. Service was professional and pleasant Toilets were dim, upstairs(well it is a Wetherspoons) Happily go back.

Never had a problem with staff here, or the food. Always consistent and never fails to satisfy my simple diet. The place has gone downhill somewhat this last year or so, possibly since the Bootle one shut. Now all the gobby ones come here, often the language is terrible especially as there's often children around. Recently witnessed a member of staff on the receiving end of some vile verbal abuse from some irate little slapper. Felt terrible for the poor lady on the bar, she didn't deserve that. No fault of the company, as its a cheap enough pub afterall. I just don't feel as relaxed here as before.

Perfect pint of Salopians Darwins Origin. Food is acceptable but not brilliant

  • 4/5 John D. 6 years ago on Google
As with most Wetherspoon Pubs, a family friendly environment and a good choice of food and drinks (Greene King Abbot my choice). Staff welcoming and friendly. The bonus here is the local history information about Henry Greg Melly. You'll have to visit to find out more. I'm sure we will be visiting again.

Nice and friendly. We had breakfast and extra toast. Hot and tasty. I have the veggie option , it was ok sausage tasteless but nice texture, weird. The place is a bit dark inside but overall we will go again

Nice clean pub, looks tidier and more upmarket than other Witherspoon's I've been in. Reasonable prices for food and drinks, i ordered fish and chips with onion rings and it was delicious.

Popped in for a coffee on a Wednesday evening (driving). Nice pub but there was a pub quiz starting which was really loud and we ended up leaving early. Shame as the reason we like wetherspoons is they are not noisy pubs

Food was to be expected for a spoonsm prices weren't too bad,but got told by staff no fryers will be on as were broken. Spoke 20 minutes later and were magically on.. except for that nice venue

I'd heard a rumour this spoons was on the list of pubs weathies is closing. Devo'ed this is one of my fav watering holes. However no need, the lovely staff have assured me this one is NOT closing so I can continue enjoying the beer and food and wonderful ambience

Love the atmosphere. Only thing I don't like is the kids comming in at anytime to use the toilets, very scarey when your on your own toilets are up stairs and a group of about 7 girls and one boy were in the ladies toilet messing about.
