Customer service is terrible, especially for Indian clients. They were extremely rude to us. The food had a decent flavour, but the amount was relatively small compared to the cost. We had to wait a long time to receive a glass of water because it wasn't served with the food. We waited a while and received no explanation regarding bill payment.

We were in Liverpool on a Stag do. As usual with a drink inside food was on the agenda. We drifted into Spice City and was dealt with with a warm welcome & attentive service. The food was brought reasonably quickly and as usual the pickle tray was spot on... I ordered a special Biryani, when it arrived I thought "wheres mi food" but believe me it was enough... A long time since I've had a "curry" thoroughly enjoyed it.... Worked out at 35 quids/head including a bottle of Cobra.... For a major City Bart rate.

Delightful! The honey badami was the best curry dish I’ve ever had. My new favorite. From out of town, so I’ll be missing it! Excellent service and food.

What a difference a week makes. Lovely reception and conversation with the owner of this place. Always appreciate when people are open to receiving feedbacks and trying to get better at what they do. The vindaloo had the right amount of heat and flavour and naan was good as always. Keep up the good work.

0 out of 5, the manager was a polite man, but the staff was so rude and just asked leave, for the reason of ordering less quantity of food. He didn't even say a apologize or asked us to order minimum quantity of food after the we placed the order, he just asked us to leave.. We were shattered and tired after a whole day of trip and decided to dine in this restaurant and had a worst experience ever.

Owner was very attentive and spoke a lot to us however other staff very quiet. We were only the 2 people in the entire restaurant at it was 7:30pm on a tuesday night😟 Got the meal for 2; starters were lovely mains not so much, not much flavour in the lamb jalferzi and portion sizes quite small.

Food quality was very good, with nice authentic tastes, and both food and drinks were a reasonable cost. The place was very quiet and dark when I went. The staff weren't very welcoming.

I'll give 10 stars if I could for the atmosphere...but if you are serving Indian cuisine, you should give the basic side salad as well like Onion, tomatoes and green chilly. Overall, the experience was good!

Totally annoyed. Phone to ask if they would deliver to a boat on Salthouse dock, told no problem, make the order on the Web site, placedthe order and received a message back with a "pick up" time, tried to phone them but the phone was engaged for over an hour so had no option but to walk up to restaurant 15mins away, place was rammed, phone off the hook, 1 guy running round doing everything, he apologised but meant nothing, food had already stood there and 15 min walk back it was cold. I would have save a lot of aggravation if I had just burnt 2 20 pound note.

We ordered a tandoori mixed grill and a mixed tandoori byriani. The mixed grill was excellent. For £11.95 I've never had such a big quantity of meat in one single dish. It was cooked to perfection. The byriani was plentiful and again cooked too perfection. Less that £25 in total was a bargain. I would highly recommend it

We went to Spice City last night for the first time and I've got to say it was absolutely fantastic. The service was second to none and we were served very promptly. The staff were very friendly and it was one of the best curries I've ever eaten. I highly recommend it you won't be disappointed.

We usually eat from here regularly as we are local. However the last few times we have been the food and service hasn’t been great, and it seems to be getting more expensive each time we go. £55 for 2 people sharing a vegetarian main as well as rice and naan bread. One of the waiters put a piece of potpourri in both of our drinks which we found quite funny and we ordered new drinks, however we released after we paid the bill we were still charged for all of the drinks despite 2 of them being ruined by the potpourri.

Starter was excellent, main completely satisfactory but not to the same standard. I will go again, but will also continue to seek out my perfect restaurant.

My second visit to the place, the first was in 2019 and I fave 4 star classification, but today after the 2022 visit, I need to review it and give only 3 stars. The staff is very friendly, however the food is not so amayzing as in the past and the prices higher when compared with other resturants at today in the area and for the quality of the food. In the past was a more autentic Indian food, simple dishes more Indian taste, however today is a more western Indian taste, maybe to try to compete with some other restaurants in the area more "fashionable" as Mowgli, etc. So, when I visited the place I was looking for the more Indian style cousine and not the Western, so in the end it was not a so good experience

Food is amazing here taste delious! Definitely worth a visit if your looking for something different on the menu. Lots of unheard of dishes you wouldn't normally see in big chains. Good size portion. Only things that are a let down is service was poor from one member of staff no eye contact leaned on the chair whilst taking order. However the other two members of staff the lady and the taller guy were polite and welcoming. Toilets need some tlc, nothing works. The food is what makes this place and the mango lassi! Thanks.

Third take away delivery in so many weeks (greedy I know) but why not when it’s so tasty? Order online (tick), quick and easy (tick), friendly delivery guys (tick), great price (tick), AMAZING food (double tick) Wouldn’t eat Indian anywhere else in Liverpool 👍🏽

The food was not close to alright somewhat, let’s just say not according to my expectation. Staffs were extremely unfriendly. Food was delayed which was totally acceptable but the staffs went impatient when it was closer to closing time. We had barely 10 minutes to complete our food. one of the staff ( an indian girl ) literally told my friend to hand her the leftover plates but I suppose it was her responsibility to pick up the stuffs from the customers table ? She was absolutely unethical and not professional. Same goes to the middle age guy who was working over there. He sat right next to our table and increased his mobile volume purposely to make us leave the place as sooner as possible, atleast that’s what I assume but we are barely 10 minutes in after the arrival of our order. Absolutely unethical work manner and unprofessional.

  • 1/5 Aria S. 1 year ago on Google
The food was absolutely plain and flavourless unlike other Asian restaurants. The customer service was very poor and unwelcoming, with staff being evidently more friendly and chatty with non-ethnic customers. We weren't seen to and felt ignored and incredibly unwelcomed. We also had to ask for water multiple times, it came after a good 30 minutes when we had nearly finished eating. Along with that, the food portions were extremely small for its price! I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to others at all.

  • 5/5 Yazeed A. 1 year ago on Google
First of all WOW! One of the best Indians I've ever ate in, the food was flavoursome and filling, everything was so perfect from the service to the drinks to literally everything. I want to thank the waiter as well for sitting us down as soon as we arrived in a clean table and ensured that every thing we have ordered was given to us. The best resturant in Liverpool!!

Don’t understand the bad reviews been here many times over the years always had great delicious food and friendly staff in my opinion best curry house in Liverpool

  • 1/5 Kevin P. 2 years ago on Google
This curry i had here has to be the worst tikka i have ever had (and I've eaten plenty) it was like a thick tomato soup with 7 bits of chicken, which, once I summoned the chef, he told me that was standard, it was awful, I refused to pay over £9 for it, and fair enough they didn't charge me for it, so, I left hungry. It takes a lot for me to send a curry back and ask for the chef, however, it really was that bD.

  • 1/5 N D. 8 months ago on Google
very over priced and of poor quality minimal amount of food.. ordered a lamb jalfrazi which tasted like Chinese curry sauce and the meat was definitely not lamb.. sent food back and staff were not acomodating at all we found them very rude will definitely not recommend this place to eat

Worst food ever. Lots of food colour in the chicken gravy. We ordered a non-veg platter for 2, the quantity wasn't even enough for one person.

I am staying away in Liverpool for work and was looking for an Indian restaurant to which I came across Spice City. I am normally very fussy and always nervous to adventure out and try new places but I must say I was very pleasantly surprised. I ordered for collection and the food was promptly ready to collect in the stated time! The food was piping hot and full of flavour. The curry came with plenty of sauce and didn't feel overly oily like some currys can. I ordered a lamb tikka jalfrezi and would really recommend despite seeing some previous negative reviews on it. I also really enjoyed the peshwari naan. I would honestly recommend this place as i definitely will be reordering from here again 👌🏻

  • 1/5 Paul H. 7 months ago on Google
Ordered meals but they come with incorrect meals. They argued that Dansak is the same heat as madras which obviously it isn’t. Then delivered a red hot naan bread without a plate that ended up straight on our meals. Come time to pay, it was like we were outlaws and they stood by till we we paid up. Good food but naughty service.

Loved it! Came here at my 10yr old sons request for a stay over before Anfield Tour. Initially we went to street food but didn't look all that so, we changed our mind last minute and, I am glad we did 😁 Food was amazing, staff very friendly and nice looking place. Reasonable prices and would definitely recommend. I'm not sure why there are low reviews on here at all but, don't let that out you off, if you love Indian get yourself here 👍 Keep up the great work !!!

What a fantastic place to eat, went in booked a table a week earlier when we arrived the lady instantly recognised us, took us to our table while we waited for our other guests, kept us amused with her humour and excellent customer service skills felt at ease. Our night was amazing, drinks, food atmosphere definitely going again so much before we left made the booking. The food is amazing seriously you will not be disappointed set's you up for either a quietnight home or going out afterwards, what do you have to lose nothing because you'll be telling your friends about it, so you'll be losing your special place. Well done Spice City your staff are amazing

I was really routing for this place. I took a chance by deciding to stay when I walked in and literally ZERO other customers were there. Thought maybe they do a lot of take away. Sigh. The service was sub par especially considering no one was there. Food was meh. They gave me the wrong biryani. It just wasn’t a good time. Plenty of room for improvement. For now, keep walking.

This is a Indian restaurant but not for Indians. Very bad behavior from the staff. When we asked to recommend some good vegetarian dish, he suggested us to go to other restaurant. When we asked about wet wipes, he asked us to use washroom because we ate with our hands and hands were oily. If wet wipes doesn't clean our hands that is our problem, we will decide if we further wash our hands in washroom or not . And then he came, kept the wipes on table and went off. Who the hell talks to customer like this. Very Rude staff. Food was ok with average taste.

  • 1/5 Paul M. 11 months ago on Google
The curry took 1 hour and 45 minutes to arrive. But in the meantime we have a lovely cockroach drop down from the ceiling on to our friends arm. This was brought to the attention of the waiter who didn’t care. Curry was bang average also. Food was very over priced for the quality.

Me and my friends have been going to Spice City for the best part of 20 years. It is very rare that we will eat at another Indian restaurant. The food is top drawer, and over all the years I've been going, I've never been disappointed with the quality of the array of food I've sampled. The food presentation and the service from the staff is always on point and cannot be faulted at all. Over the years we have got to know the owner and his staff and we now class them as friends. I am not writing this review as a friend of the owner, but as a truly satisfied customer. Niz and his staff do an amazing job at Spice City and deserve to be praised for their efforts. I would recommend Spice City to anybody without hesitation.

What an terrible experience, Dont know where to start with No greeting or smile from any staff, felt like staff was very not interested and rude specially to Indian customers. No communication with food, my food was uncooked The food was very low standard, literally on the name of Raita you will get hardly two spoons of yoghurt with few pieces of cucumber. Asked few times for water but never got it. For first 30 min no one come to take order, after 1 hours and 38 min foods comes which is under cooked and stale, Only the good part of the food was breads. Rest is in peace please Dont waste your money nothing personal but they need to lift game up, I wish I could tell this to manager but he was roaming around very not interested with hands in pocket and Chewing something in his mouth, because of that he can’t even talk. So I decided to write here if owner is reading hope you take it constructive and show some change and customer is reading please Dont waste your money there

The service was very good and attentive however the meal was very disappointing. The bhaji’s were re heated and not fresh and were very tough to eat. The curry was tasteless and not authentic at all. It was very over priced for what we got.

  • 2/5 Clare P. 1 year ago on Google
Food is ok, but be careful if you are going after a few drinks or a days shopping. We were in a rush to leave as we were so tired and just wanted to go back to the hotel. We paid stupidly without looking at the bill. When we got back we saw we were charged £52 for 2 people. We got 2 curries, 2 Naan, 2 chips, 1 boiled rice and 2 Coke Zero. We checked the menu online and realised we were blatantly overcharged. I asked for a receipt but she only gave me one from the card machine. Just a warning to others. £52 is an absolute disgrace for 2 people for the quality of the food and portion sizes

A taste sensation. Absolutely delicious. We just came to Liverpool for a couple of nights away, after a holiday had been cancelled. This was around the corner from our apartment also feeling quite tired and not wanting anything fancy chose this place, the food was unexpectedly really good and would highly recommend to anyone wanting a good curry in the Liverpool area.

Over the last 4 years we have used Spice City many, many times, both earinf in and takeaways (delivered) and it is fair to say that every restaurant has the occasional off night. But we have found not only is the food of an exceptionally high standard but on the occasion when the food has not been quite what we hoped it would be they have done everything they could to put things right. I would highly recommend. This is the only Indian we use in Liverpool. Another fantastic meal tonight. Thanks to all concerned

After picking out Spice City for our date night, I booked a table for my girlfriend & me.  A nice warm restaurant, spacious & clean, the menus were a little damp - but before we'd even noticed that, the waiter told us they're sanitised after each use, which was great to hear! We ordered a bottle of Pinot Grigio, some soda water & a big bottle of King Cobra Beer.  Our food order was; two poppadoms & pickle tray, a Mixed Starter (chicken tikka pieces, onion bhaji & a meat samosa) to share. For mains, we ordered the Tawa Exotica - (chicken tikka, lamb tikka & duck tikka & lamb chops in a medium sauce) had the waiters' recommendation - (my go-to is normally a chicken madras) but I can't remember the name of it. To accompany our mains, we shared a Garlic Naan Bread (not very well done as asked) Nd a portion of boiled rice. The staff were all very friendly, professional, & knowledgeable on their food (Bangladeshi being their speciality after finding out that's where the family originate).  Price was great, £60.45 I think - we rounded up to £65 by card payment. We'd definitely eat their again, the only negative would be that the Garlic Naan Bread didn't come well done like we ordered - I'm sure they'd have addressed it if I'd have told them at the time, so I can't really hold that against them! Cleanliness/hygiene of staff - 5/5 Food quality - 5/5 Value for money - 5/5 Would we go again? - Yes!! 🙌

I went to Spice City as this was the curry house that I found based on recommendations, I have to say I really enjoyed my meal here, the waiters are beyond helpful (a big thanks to Paige, Noor and Ahmed for all their hard work). I ordered a biryani and a mixture of starters, the food was filling and looks well presented and does taste just as good. I really enjoyed my meal and would recommend anyone to visit this place if you are after a good meal.
