Had a lovely night here this week. Lovely menu options, the duck liver parfait was superb! Great service; nothing was too much trouble. Lamb dish was more fat than meat sadly and the chips had a strange powdery texture. Chateaubriand was cooked perfectly.

Spent an enjoyable evening yesterday at the Devon Doorway. We were well looked after at all times by Charlotte, Abbi and their top team of welcoming staff. Nothing was too much trouble, refreshing beers and hearty well cooked meals were the order of the day. Looking forward to returning very soon, always a pleasure ! Thanks again

Steak was lovely, prawns weren't cleaned though, the black forest bomb was very over priced, not much in it and didn't taste of a lot. Service was nice but overall meal took 2 hours even though we only had 2 courses. Overall a nice atmosphere.

I went here with a few friends a couple of weeks ago! I cannot stop thinking about the fantastic service and warm friendly welcome when I arrived. The menu selection was excellent and the atmosphere was very relaxed. I even recommended to other friends who went a week later who were singing their praises about The Devon Doorway! We were greeted and served by Honor and Cath who were delightful and really made my visit a pleasure. I cannot recommend The Devon Doorway enough and will definitely be returning in the future!

The staff were super friendly, the food was next level and the girls on the bar were so good. I couldn't decide what sauce I wanted so they wrote a note for me and I got peppercorn and beef dripping. Such a good experience and have already told my friends how nice it was.

The food was amazing from the beef on the roast to the fries , all perfected in every way . The atmosphere was like fine dining the walls plasted with a greenish teal blue with tasteful pictures on the all , the staff were quick and had a lovely attitude to work . Me and my family (nan sister mum ) had got some of the same stuff , my mum sister and nan got a beef roast while I got the burger . The only down fall the meals had was that there wasn't any more of it! The burger buns were toasted in such a way that they were still soft , and absolutely amazing meal . The roast had amazingly cooked beef and the gravy was sweet and quite tasteful , the roast potatoes where crispy and very very nice . We was going to have a desert but it was way to hot and we were full so we chose not to have it ....this time . I honestly see no down side to coming here , the food was amazing, the staff was amazing , the atmosphere was amazing . You can go to a normal Toby carvery or any other local pub but I highly recommend coming here, its a treat for the whole family and one that is quite well deserved.

Came in today for the first time in a while, I ordered the trio Sunday lunch, we’ve been a few times before and the food has always been really lovely, today unfortunately my food was served cold, didn’t like to complain as our server was a really lovely girl. It was also served with no gravy, and yet on the menu it says comes with bottomless gravy jug, so i had basically a dry, cold Sunday lunch. I’d eaten my lunch by the time they even got back with a little mini saucepan of gravy.

We held our company Christmas party here on Friday 8th December, the food was delicious, nice atmosphere and all staff were accommodating to our many requests. Thank you so much.

First time for me at this venue. Greeted on arrival by happy attentive staff, shown to our table and given menu's to perouse. After 5 minutes we where thinking that the menu was actually a little small and not much choice. We called over the waiter and it turns out that the menus had not been printed correctly and we where missing a whole page of further options lol. Well that has never happened before. The waiter quickly apologised and gave us fully printed menus. There is a great choice for all tastes. I opted for a garlic mozzarella pizzette with rocket to start. To be honest I was not impressed, I could not taste the garlic and the mozzarella was nearly non existent. The rocket was just dumped in the middle rather than spread around to give better presentation. Moving onto the main, I opted for the dity burger. Well presented, patty cooked nicely and not overdone. Full of flavour. Fries seasoned and a little crispy which was nice. Wow the beef dripping sauce in the little saucepan was fantastic, seriously I could of drank it. Onto dessert I opted for the Lotus Biscoff chocolate bomb with toffee sauce and vanilla ice cream. I tried pouring the toffee sauce slowly and quickly over the chocolate bomb but disappointingly the sauce just wasn't hot enough to melt the chocolate bomb 😫. That ruined the dessert for me and the scoop of ice cream was small but flavoursome. Waiter/waitresses where brilliant. We will return at some point in the future to give it another try.

What was meant to be a late lunch became a 3 course meal with cocktails. It's been years since we were last at the Devon Doorway, we will be back again soon!!!

Service was slow to begin but our server Eloise was brilliant, six elderly ladies we were. Eloise took great care of us, tending our every request with a smile Food was good, maybe a little expensive. . A large wine spritzer at £9.50 was a bit more than expected. Other than that a very enjoyable gathering. Thank You.

I found the lighting quite dark which meant while reading the menu was a bit of a struggle!! The food was amazing (even though I thought it was a bit pricey). Our server was amazing, very polite and professional. The only real criticism that I have is that being on the larger size I really did find your chairs very, very uncomfortable. We were a table for four but the table we were put on felt too small for our party.

It's been a while since we ate here. Basically, the food and service were poor. We came here tonight with very low expectations but we were so wrong. The staff were brilliant but the most amazing, and important, aspect was the food. From starters to deserts, the whole meal was superb. Tasty and well cooked, it bore no resemblance to our last meal here. If you have been a customer in the past and given up on the Devon Doorway, please go and give them another chance. You will be delighted!!

An impromptu visit last night (Tuesday) with three friends, was wonderful. We had the very delicious dirty burgers. Served with a smile by the lovely Eloise, who was more than happy to assist in our requests of pictures. We were served promptly and enjoyed the whole experience.

Delightful dinner experience for two. The alcohol-free cocktails were great while we read through the menu. We chose the hake special and nourish bowl with king prawns. Beautifully presented plates that tasted delicious. We shared a dessert - the churros were perfect! Thank you to Ewan who looked after us so well.

Food was mostly pretty good. The roast potatoes were so so. Perhaps better par-boiled prior to roasting Had to as k twice for extra gravy and three times for table for water for the table The staff are polite and friendly The fish and chips were nice, although the peas were under seasoned

Booked The Devon Doorway for a party of 15 for my mums 90th birthday. From taking the initial reservation to final drinks atvthe end of. the night the staff were wonderful. A big call out to Elliot who oversaw our table in a friendly, calm professional manner. Nothing was too much trouble for him. The food was lovely worh a great choice for all tastes. Also have to mention the excellent wheelchair access for my mum. A big thank you to Alex and the team for making our family celebration a special occasion

We celebrated a birthday here tonight and it was wonderful. The food was well cooked and presented, although there was a bit of a wait between courses which was understandable for a Saturday night. The staff were really friendly and attentive, and made special arrangements for food for my partner due to a medical condition. All in all, it was a great night and I'd definitely recommend to others.

6 of us travelled from Blackpool for a surprise birthday and a lovely evening, food was amazing and staff very accommodating and friendly. The atmosphere was excellent. Beautiful place and well worth the travel to get there 👌

We came to a family funeral this week. Everything was perfect, the staff were friendly and efficient and the buffet was tasty and plentiful. Such a lovely setting inside and outside. We were well looked after and feel that the very sad occasion went as well as anyone could have wished for. Thank you for helping us give a very special lady the send off she deserved.

We organised hiring the pub out on a Sunday morning for our post wedding breakfast and I cannot thank Phil and the team more. The food and drink was fabulous and our guests really enjoyed meeting up again the morning after to discuss the night! Thank you for being so accommodating!

We came here for a family Sunday dinner with 15 of us in total. We pre-ordered the starters and mains so there was no waiting around. The service was very good and the food was very tasty. The location itself has very nice decor, a lovely atmosphere and is well maintained. I look forward to returning.

I have had two evening meals here and still struggled to decide what to eat.... it all looks fantastic. Price is good for the quality. The staff are friendly and welcoming... love it...

Very friendly service, we went for lunch and the menus catered for vegan, vegetarian and carnivore(so everyone was happy). Tables were space out and staff were attentive and polite. I would definitely go back again.

Slightly off the beaten track but has good motorway links via the M53. Car parking when busy can be congested, recommend using the smaller car rather than 4x4. Booking online or via phone couldn't be easier. Menus available very versatile and applied to parts of the day. Food quality is excellent with prices from £16-£26, wine and beer selection for all tastes. Excellent website for all relevant information.

Service was incredibly slow and when the food arrived 90 minutes after we'd arrived and some 45 minutes after the starters were finished, one meal was inedible and lacked 2 of the main ingredients advertised on the menu. However, our server was amazing and sorted everything out. And it was her first day, bless her. The food was (eventually) very good and we'll definitely return.

What a beautiful place to be. The staff are amazing and look after their customers. The dink and food menu is also some of the best! Location is amazing if you like car spotting also 😊

Went for the first time last Wednesday to celebrate a family occasion. The waiters were excellent and the food was good when it eventually arrived, and I would have liked to provide a better rating however there were too many issues. Firstly, it took too long. We arrived at 6.30 but didn't eat until after 8pm. We weren't in a rush so it didn't matter but not good enough. Secondly, the starters didn't arrive and had to be re-ordered. For main I chose the half rotisserie chicken, and that's what I was expecting, but was presented with two separate pieces comprising a leg and breast. A bit disappointing. Everything else was good though, the veg was beautiful and excellent wine. To be fair, it was explained that the kitchen was short-staffed so we were compensated with a sincere apology and reduction off the bill. The location and decor are excellent, and the place was busy, but for us, the experience wasn't quite up to scratch.

Popped in for some food and drinks at The Devon Doorway, the service was brilliant, as well as the food! Charlotte, was fantastic and a credit to the business! She looked after us from start to finish and recommended a beautiful bottle of wine to accompany our meal. Will 100% be back to try more of the menu! We had a wonderful evening celebrating our elderly grandparents 60th Anniversary here. The food was brilliant - we highly recommend the vegetable coconut curry, which was amazing! - and the staff were great. Particular thanks to Maya who was so friendly and looked after us brilliantly. Thank you to all at the Devon Doorway for making it a brilliant evening!

Loons lovely, totally over priced. Food is good quality, but portions are small. Used to be much better in days gone by. Team are very friendly, could be so much more popular. Chasing the £££ of Heswall (not Birkenhead), and totally taking advantage of the wealthy locals!

The food was fantastic, excellent quality and really tasty. The virgin mojitos were not of consistent quality, and differed in taste. The service was very slow. Overall the quality of the food makes it worth the visit and they can be forgiven for being a little "relaxed". I wouldn't let it stop me from visiting again.

The food was really nice but we waited 1.5 hours for food. Not sure what the problem was. The waiting on staff were very busy so can not fault them. Clearly an issue with kitchen staff. If it wasn’t for that 2 issue I’d give it 5 stars. So maybe next time we visit things will have improved I’m sure it was just a 1 off 😩
