⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ First time coming here yesterday & stayed one night with my partner. We were treated like royalty & all the staff were so friendly, professional & amazing! Massive shout out & compliments to the Chef at the restaurant! Loved everyone, every member who worked last night & this morning, the food was awesome! This place is so beautiful, historical, romantic & magical. I would highly recommend this to everyone. Thank you for the experience, definitely will be coming again.

Reading the 1 star reviews has gobsmacked me. What an amazing place this is with very very attentive staff. Not a single member of staff was on a "9-5" and this has been the case EVERY time we have stayed. How do you keep up that level of energy? So my review; The Hotel Although some parts of this hotel haven't been changed in years, you would not tell if this was your first visit. The place is immaculate, very clean and tidy with subtle improvements every time we visit. It's located in a lovely area, and the scenery is beautiful. The Food I had some of the best food I have ever had on my latest visit. The Cajun onion rings as a bar snack are to die for, and only 1 very slight food faux-pas (the chips were slightly dehydrated) stopped this experience from being perfect. The Spa Really, really nice as usual. Always being reinvented. The gym is quite large and welcoming, and the treatments are done with care. The People Well I can say without shadow of a doubt that the people are the highlight. There is not one staff member that could do too much for you. Too many to name. Everyone is genuinely happy which as a business owner myself, is obvious of a nice working environment. Well done again Thornton Hall, We will see you soon.

Stayed two nights for a wedding and had the best time Location is beautiful and the staff are just amazing...very attentive and couldn't do enough true Northern hospitality! Breakfast was spot on too! Unfortunately didn't get time to visit the Spa but others in our party did and came out looking fresh and radiant Would highly recommend a visit

Heading up to The Wirral for a funeral from down South, we were going to just grab a travel lodge, but thought we'd see what alternatives there were, and stumbled across Thornton. We got an excellent deal for not much more than what we'd expect to pay for travel lodge, but had the pleasure of being able to unwind with a swim after our long journey and have relaxing treatments to ease us into a very sad day. Knowing we were able to stay at a Spa, really helped make a sad journey more enjoyable. The accommodation was spotless and relaxing. The Spa area was basic, but did the job. The spa staff were lovely and very welcoming.

We really enjoyed our stay here. Came for a wedding and stayed the night. The bed was the most comfortable i slept on in a hotel. Bathroom was good standard. Loved the breakfast, there was lots of variety and the staff were friendly. Next time i would love the enjoy the full experience and use the spa and swimming pool. Would definitely recommend and visit again.

What a stunning place! As soon as we pulled up we were amazed, we got out the car and was greeted immediately before we even went into the building and was told where to go to check in, all the staff were so lovely and helpful. The room was beautiful we had doors that opened up on to the lawn, a proper coffee machine a TV in the bath! The spa facilities were perfect too... we got up super early and spent the morning outside in the hot tubs. And the food. Well! We had the beef Sunday roast and it is by far the nicest beef I have ever tasted! The breakfast was also delicious with plenty of options for all. We loved our stay. Our only regret is not stopping for longer!!

"We chose this place for a wedding stay, and it was truly delightful. The rooms were outstanding, featuring amenities like a TV in the bathroom, and our view showcased the beautiful common. The service, particularly from Mr. Smith, the concierge, was exceptional." Recommend

Place just feels a little outdated. The restaurant and area for breakfast was lovely but fully booked the evening we stayed, would have liked to have been asked if we would want to book a table for the night at our check-in as I never realised on a Tuesday evening it would be fully booked. Nice enough surroundings and spa was decent too. Outdoor hot tubs were warm and have bar service too which is a bonus 🙌

Lovely location. Plenty of parking. Rooms where a good size and very comfy. Tea, coffee, hair dryer, mini fridge, Iron and ironing board all provided in the room. A good size on-suit bath room.

Thornton Hall Hotel & Spa hotel provided a tranquil retreat with its luxurious amenities. From the moment I arrived, the staff was attentive and welcoming, ensuring a pleasant stay. The spa facilities were exceptional, offering a range of rejuvenating treatments that left me feeling relaxed and pampered. The comfortable rooms, tasteful decor, and scenic views added to the overall ambiance. While the experience was delightful, a few minor areas for improvement prevented a perfect rating. Noisy all night and alarm went off in the morning without prior information. Nonetheless, it remains an excellent choice for those seeking a serene getaway with top-notch spa services.

Went to the 80's event, the staff were amazing very helpful the room clean and perfect for use, but will say it was very warm and didn't see the tiny notice on the radiator until the morning 🥵 The event itself was served with Christmas Dinner which was disappointing to say the least tastless is the best way to describe it. The 80's event was amazing totally cracking night the door men and servers brilliant, music 🎶 amazing. Couldn't fault the breakfast at all and although a buffet breakfast it was 🔥 hot, which in most buffet breakfast in other places usually luke warm. There was plenty of choice and again the breakfast staff were brilliant.

Absolutely love this place. The spa facilities are brilliant with hot and cold experience, infra red light etc. Beautiful bar and restaurant. The food is amazing!!! They do some really good offers sometimes and they are well worth it. Highly, highly recommend.

So visited the now 2 Rossette restaurant. Thornton Hall no longer a fine dining experience. But... The service was really good attentive staff we had the afternoon tea. The food was really nice and as expected for the price. The atmosphere was also really nice. My only gripe/negative.. The high chair provided for my child was grubby please can you clean these it's frustrating when the service stops at children. I am on the understanding the jams with the afternoon tea are home made, the liquorice Berry jam should the be a hint of liquorice in the jam if its called this? Overall a nice experience just a few short comings that I'm sure can be sorted.

Had a two day break here with my husband who was playing golf and a group of other players. Although the hotel was busy the staff were extremely attentive, polite and helpful. The room we stayed in was great and had everything we needed. The spa and facilities were lovely and the grounds are beautiful. We would recommend anyone to stay here and spoil themselves!

This hotel is only half an hour from where I live so ideal for a cheeky night away. Purchased on living social..£180 D, B and B, with £30 allowance each towards evening meal menu, access to spa and bottle of prosecco in room. I paid extra for a couples Rasul mud treatment. Never had this before but we both loved it. The girls in the spa are so friendly and clear in their explanation of how to use the treatment we had. Pool afterwards wasn't very busy but a large party hogging outside Jacuzzis for longer than the 15 mins advised in big letters on the sign! Went for lunch which was really nice, ladies in there were great too. Checked in and we were in room 320. Lovely little balcony overlooking beautiful gardens and fields. Very clean, nice toiletries and bathroom. Pillows though like two bags of cement, I found out later that night. Didn't realise there were others in the wardrobe as they may have been softer...just for info if you go. Also, men, be warned, you need long trousers in the restaurant. Manager came out and told my beautifully dressed husband he needed long trousers but he'd let him in on this occasion 'it was on the email we sent you' he said!!! Quite embarrassing really. If he was willing to let him in, why make such a toe curling fuss in the first place? Wouldn't mind, there were some right scruffs already in there. (Sorry to sound harsh but it's true!) Such an archaic rule. Hubby had polo shirt, nice dress shorts and casual shoes on...he's got ok legs too! 😂 Would you ask a woman to wear a dress or not to wear trousers? Onto the food, it was delicious. This really is one of their selling points. So beautifully presented and tasted amazing. All in all, the staff are friendly, helpful and cheery and the hotel is beautiful. Would return and make sure I pack pants for the husband!! 🤦🏻‍♀️😂

Enjoyed our break away ,very soft mattress I know it's a difficult one as I guess some people like that ! Found most staff helpful especially the coffee shop ladies The Jacuzzis too busy and some guests sat in for 40mins or more so didn't get chance to use A treatment was OK not exceptional or standout and the prices didn't reflect that. The Therapist fine !

Lovely hotel with spa. Helpful reception and hotel staff. My room (233) was clean, comfortable, nicely decorated and quiet (thankfully 😴). I stayed overnight for a wedding at the hotel the next day. Would be helpful to have a full length mirror in the bedroom. The wall-mounted mirror was inadequate whilst I was trying to sort out my outfit. Take your own close-up mirror for applying make-up as I found all the mirrors too far away!

No real complaints about Thornton Hall Hotel. We had a very nice room, consistently good breakfast, and excellent service from all members of staff, particularly the cleaning staff, reception and in the spa/gym. This hotel has very good spa treatments, unfortunately whilst enjoying the facilities I did overhear a very rude health club member (not a member of staff) attempting to belittle a hotel guest but she quickly put her back in her box😂 My family and I really enjoyed our stay and we're looking forward to a return visit.

My daughter and I have visited Thornton Hall for their wonderful afternoon tea. Yesterday we also had one of my grandaughters come with us. The afternoon tea was, as usual, delicious and, on this occasion, very festive. It's always a special treat and we love it every time. Thank you to the staff who make us very welcome and are so wonderful 😊.

We stayed here for our wedding anniversary and it was a great night away. We had our room upgraded to the penthouse suite which was a lovely spot with amazing views at the top of the main building. Dinner was great, and the cocktails even better. The live music was really good. Breakfast was incredible with a large selection and everything we tried tasted great. All the staff here are so lovely and happy to help with anything. We went to the spa after checking in and ended up leaving due to how busy it was as we couldn’t fit in any of the hot tubs or the sauna, but we went back the next morning at 7am and pretty much had the whole place to ourselves so able to make the most of the spa facilities then.

What a great place to stay. From the moment we walked into reception to the point where we left, we couldn't have been treated any better. Wonderful, friendly staff. Our room had a balcony, was a ood size and one hell of a big bed!! The Lawns restaurant was exceptional, amazing food, a good selection of wine and staff were attentive. Great weekend birthday treat. With thanks 😊

This was our 3rd visit to Thornton Hall Hotel and Spa and every time is just as special as the first it is by far my favourite Spa , you are made to feel welcome and all staff go above and beyond to make your stay as relaxing as possible. The decor is simply beautiful and at Christmas it feels magical , we had Breakfast in the most beautiful room this stay previous stays we had breakfast in our room which is an option . The restaurants are all lovely we have had evening meals but this time we went with an earlier lunch in the Brasserie so as to spend more time in Spa then later on ordered room Service to our room and just relaxed and watched a movie.

Amazing night away with the wife. As soon as we walked into reception, we felt welcomed. The room was amazing. We had an evening meal in the terrace where the live music was which was decent along with the food. Spa was just as described, and we will definitely be back.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Thornton Hall Hotel and Spa and had a fantastic experience. The ambience was delightful, offering a welcoming atmosphere. The bar was impressive, offering reasonably priced drinks without compromising on quality. The steak burger I ordered was not only tasty but also a testament to their commitment to great food. Additionally, the live 80s band performing on Saturday was outstanding, adding an extra layer of enjoyment to the evening. The hotel itself exuded sophistication and cleanliness, reflecting their attention to detail in maintaining a high standard. Overall, Thornton Hall Hotel and Spa provided a wonderful experience, combining great food, a welcoming environment, and top-notch entertainment. I highly recommend it for anyone seeking a pleasant and enjoyable stay.

Hi all, I just thought I'd make people aware that if you are looking to book Thornton Hall as a group or six or more, you won't be accommodated. We booked for 8 of us to have a girls' trip on the weekend. We were told this was possible. We managed to book treatments and even a table for an evening meal and paid a deposit. Later on in the day, I received an email to say they were cancelling our booking as they decided they couldn't accommodate groups of 6 or more on the weekend. This may be in the policiy, but then you think why did they let you book and pay for everything? If they knew from the start, they wouldn't accept groups on the weekend. When I mentioned they knew I was booking for the weekend, they said they thought I was booking a weekday, which is hard to believe as when you make a booking, a calendar comes up with the days of the week. Our group was very disheartened as we were all very excited to go. When we rang to see if we could book as two groups of four instead, they said no, still, even though they have the room as its open for bookings online. We asked them why we couldn't book for the weekend, and the lady mentioned that there isn't enough room in the spa on the weekend, so I'm assuming it must shrink on the weekend and then grow again on a weekday. She then said we wouldn't be able to sit next to each other at dinner if we did two different groups as there wouldn't be room. I understand that a lot of places don't like moving tables etc. It takes a lot of time when staff have got other things to do, but we still asked if this was possible she said no, which was acceptable but then she put the phone down on us like she couldnt be bothered with talking to us anymore. The costumer service was shockingly terrible and I work in costumer service so I know how much of a pain some customers can be but you have to do your best to accommodate as that's how you get future customers and profit. Thornton Hall was not accommodating in the slightest. In fact, they stereotyped us based on us being a big group even though we are all mature women. They lost out on over £1500 for the weekend, and that is their loss in revenue. But just so people are aware, the place may be lovely for couples, but they aren't for groups.

From start to finish our birthday stay exceeded all expectations, from the incredible warm welcome from every member of staff we met right to the cleanliness of the entire hotel. I paid for early access to the spa and i am very glad of it as there is so much to do in there! We also enjoyed a forgeous afternoon tea in out lovely spa robes! After that i was treated to a lovely wash and blow dry in the salon, even enjoyed the massage chair! The food in the lawns restaurant was one of the best meals we have ever eaten. This stay was nothing short of spectacular. Thank you to every staff member!

This is my second visit here. Hotel room was very clean. Spa was amazing. Food in the restaurant was delicious but took an age to be served. Staff were really lovely and attentive.... would definitely recommend

Lunch for 200. Service v slow, not the fault of servers, simply not enough of them and not well organised. Food was average at best and the veg were cold and, in the case of the roast potatoes, reheated and impossible to cut into. Limited choice of wine ( ie had run out !) which staff struggled to open! Accept that catering venues have staffing issues post Covid but do not be greedy and try to use same staff for two events. Poor for a hotel with a reputation to maintain

Fantastic hotel and wedding venue. Staff are absolutely fantastic and really helpful. I would have gone 5 Stars but some tiny bits of the carpeting and some furniture need a face-lift, but considering this is just post pandemic, I think that's expected and I have every confidence that those bits will be fixed in quick time. Highly recommended.

Love this place...spa amazing, treatments fantastic. Been several times over last few months and always a delight ! Staff lovely and accommodating, we opted for dinner this time and the tapas on a Thurs night was incredible, huge portions and lovely quality! We will be back again in December!

Aggressive staff and security team with no concern for guests safety and welfare. We attended a charity event in the main function suite of the hotel having spent £1000+ at the event to raise money for a worthy cause. At the close of the event our taxi neglected to turn up for our party to return home. It was evident that quite a few of the guests were all experiencing issues with taxis and then it quickly became obvious that the staff were more concerned about exerting their aggression and authority to kick guests off the property, than actually offer to assist and ensure the safety of guests by arranging taxis through their concierge. Instead we were met with aggressive supervisors that proceeded to start a fight with guests that were trying to make their way to the front entrance to the allocated Uber pick up point. When I questioned the staff member as to what he was doing shoving our guests and stated that it was uncalled for behaviour especially by hotel staff (and I could judge his behaviour well as I was a guest that hadn’t drank at all that evening), he proceeded to apologise but to then later lied to security guards that it was our guests that touch him. Then as we stopped at our taxi pick up point off the premises 5 security guards proceeded to confront us and start a fight when all we were doing was waiting for our taxi. Honestly the worst set of staff in hospitality that I’ve ever come across and that’s saying something having worked in the industry for 15 years, completely unreasonable and irrational behaviour and it has left a really negative impression on what should have been an inclusive charity fundraiser. We have been to this venue for the past 4 years for this charity event and after tonight’s ordeal we will never be returning again.

Highly recommend this place. I booked a spa day package. Facilities were gorgeous and spotlessly clean. Loved the thermal experience, little details like the snow cave and experience shower made it more interesting than your average spa. Lunch was delicious. And staff were so polite and helpful, particularly Louise on reception and massage therapist Lorraine. The whole day was just so relaxing. If you're thinking about treating yourself, go for it!

We chose Thornton Hall Hotel and Spa for our wedding and were not disappointed. Not only were they so accommodating when we had to rearrange our big day due to covid, but they were also so helpful throughout the entire planning process and took away a lot of the usual stresses. Jess was our point of contact during planning and was a great support. We were lucky enough to have David as our coordinator on the day - he was absolutely brilliant, the venue looked great, the whole day ran without a glitch and all of our guests were very impressed. Big, big thank you to the whole team at Thornton Hotel and Spa, we had an amazing day and would highly recommend to anyone considering this venue. Claire and Gareth.

What a hotel/venue/leisure facility. Got married here in 2019. The venue was outstanding! The staff were phenomenal and could not do any more to make a special day if they had tried. All our guests absolutely loved it. The hotel - rooms, restaurant, bar etc was first class. Comfy and spacious. Food was fist class, and felt we were somewhere that normally we could never imagine to afford. The leisure centre was just the ticket to relax the day after our wedding. We had a couples massage which really did unwind the stresses of the previous few months, a nice swim, outdoor hot tub, and the sauna and cold rooms for a thermal cleanse. Really would make this place top of list to come back and always recommend to anyone looking to stay somewhere or get married.

We stayed for one night and had a spa day with an excellent evening meal with a breakfast in bed. We really enjoyed the outside hot tubs with some drinks and a lovely pool. Unfortunately, we were unable to book any treatments or massages as they were all booked up. Our fault, not the spa's. The best part of the trip for us was the evening meal, we had 2 fantastic steaks with some lovely drinks but the desserts were the best we have ever had. We also enjoyed breakfast in bed after a great night sleep in a nice, peaceful room in a huge bed. We will definitely be going again.

A short but busy stay in a nice hotel. The beds were worn and could do with new mattresses however the rooms were very clean and the facilities in the rooms are excellent. The hotel offers an option to pay for a cot however be warned this is a travel cot with a very thin mattress topper but no mattress, we were unable to put our 6 month old in it due to the lack of support and safe sleep options so ended up with her in our bed which was not ideal. The staff at the hotel are excellent, very helpful and nothing was too much to ask. Within hours of arrival all the staff seemed to know my 2 year old name and always said hello. The staff were amazing and made the stay much more enjoyable.

This luxurious palace is a wonder to behold. Some of the most breathtaking scenery is beautifully complimented by the exquisite grounds and facilities. The spa is amongst the best around as is the superb food that is a must for fine diners. The staff are the icing on the cake who are all friendly, polite and upbeat at all times. I would highly recommend to anyone who wants an amazing holiday without having to fly abroad. 10 out of 10 and every bit of their 4 star rating 😁👍

I cannot thank the staff here Enough! I bought this spa break for my Mum and Dad and the staff here went above and beyond! My Mum has accessibility difficulties and the staff made sure she was well cared for throughout. The breakfast was described as ‘Out of this World’ but everything was just perfect! Thank you very much it meant a lot for them to have such a nice stay, definitely returning 💖

I'm a member of the leisure club (which hotel guests have access to) and so cannot comment on the rooms or hotel service. What I can say is the leisure club has a decent gym, both weights and aerobic, the swimming pool is kept nice with sauna, steam room and snow cave. Outside there is a small sitting area with two outdoor spas. Bistro I've used occasionally and it's pretty good. If the rooms and hotel service match the leisure side, they should be of a good standard Close to Chester, Burton marshes, West Kirby and Heswall. For a couple of days break I would say it was perfect.

We stayed here as it was on offer and it is a little too close to home. But the room was nice it has a coffee machine. We had French doors into the garden which was lovely . It had a tv in the bath/shower which was good for music but once you lay down for a bath you can’t see any films. But still a nice feature. The spa was great! Two outdoor jacuzzi and out door sauna. As well as hydra pool inside and swimming pool. With sauna, steam room, snow room and the aromatic shower. Only downside was the food at the spa side of things. It wasn’t great or cheap. It was quantity over quality. I would recommend you go to the main one or pubs nearby . Breakfast was buffet , but surprisingly nice buffet food, staff kept onto of the buffet. The replenished very quickly

I have never been so satisfied by a hotel's service. Absolutely worth the price and bus stops are literally next to the main entrance. We booked one night for my friend's birthday and they made it so special. We added birthday decorations and it was done amazingly 😍😍...and the spa facilities are so well maintained and outdoor jaccuzi is my favourite 😍😍

Great room, very clean and comfortable bed. Spa was fantastic, very relaxing and staff were lovely and friendly. A bit disappointed at breakfast where there was a lot of banging by workmen going on. On departure I was charged for someone else's meal as they had charged there bill to my room 😒. This was cleared quite quickly by reception.

A very enjoyable stay. Spacious, clean room with a view out over fields from our balcony. Staff are friendly and helpful. The bar is relaxing with live music over the weekend. The Lawns restaurant was very special serving delicious and well presented food. We felt very well looked after and would definitely love to return.

So the spa is lovely and really does warrant 5 stars. The restaurant was nice for dinner, I couldn't fault the food, and the breakfast buffet was fantastic. The hotel rooms however were dated and dirty, probably the dustiest room I've stayed in. Needs a good clean and a lick of paint and really let the place down.
