So half term week visit for us ( Thursday ) Nice greeting from the staff when we entered which was nice. Very busy but to be expected as it was the school holidays. Lost of exhibits here for you to explore and look at which was great! Well signed and instructions on what way to walk. Me and my daughter loved it. No issues at all! Well done folks!

*free* entry apart from the doctor who area , though everything else was really interesting! multiple floors with different types of topics like dinosaurs, space, and even a aquarium! there is a gift shop and cafe on the left side of the museum, and the stairs and elevators are on the right. lots of toilets; some can be found of the floors. there are also real taxidermy, bugs and mummies. very good place to spend time at!

Outstanding, absolutely incredible that a place so rich with cool stuff to look at is still free these days, great few hours out with the kids. Parking can be a bit tricky outside as many of the machines were not functional when we last visited, but there's places nearby - It's within easy walking distance of the train station though so that's an option to. Also, if you want the planetarium book online in advance, we couldn't get in the morning session sadly as it was all booked up. I'd add that our last visit in Feb 2022, EVERYONE we interacted with in Liverpool was super friendly.

This museum is amazing. You could easily spend a whole day here. I would mark a star down for the lift situation but that's down to people not having common sense and courtesy for those with wheelchairs/buggies etc. We waited a while for the lifts as we wanted to start at level 5 and work the way down. We had a wheelchair so the stairs weren't an option but other people in the queue for the lift could've had more consideration. There's an amazing cafe on the ground floor which has amazing fresh made produce and meals. All of the staff in there were super friendly aswell. They had a monster making event on the top floor when we visited made from soft dough which hardened. Again this was free. The mummy room and Ancient Egyptian floor is second to none. My daughter is very much interested in this and has wanted to visit a museum but this blew her mind. They also offer a quiet space should you need to pray whilst at the museum which is absolutely brilliant. This was a fabulous way to spend a day during half term.

Been here first time but glad I made it. now, it's a great museum. There's so much to look at and brilliant place to take kids with you or made a family tour because there's a lot for kids. Keep them busy for a couple of hours. I like the aquarium area, butterflies, Egyptian mummy section and many more. BTW just one lift for big massive building and couple of floors not enough. Stair case was full busy. It's free entry then why not enjoy. Superb location just in front of train station.

I enjoyed this place more than I thought I would. Yes it’s far too kid-friendly for me. But the Egyptian exhibit is great and was of keen interest, having been to Egypt myself earlier this year. The exhibit on Benin is also quite interesting but I didn’t have time to read through it all. Would definitely recommend a visit especially as it’s free.

Really enjoyed the world museum, it was our first time and we didn't know what to expect, I'm in a wheelchair and the lifts were really good sizes. There is one long ramp in the mummy section that's a bit of a haul, but everywhere else is flat. The signs on each level aren't very clear as to where to enter each exhibition but we figured it out easily.

Absolutely amazing museum. Thematically layered in a really cool way and very informative with great items to view. So many different things to see and learn. I would recommend the Egyptian and dinosaur area the most, but all are honestly great. Lovely member of staff even gave me a souvenir coin out of her own pocket because I had no way to get change. Staff in general has been lovely in the UK, but that truly blew me away! Overall a great experience, would recommend for any age group visiting Liverpool!

Really cool museum with a few different areas to explore. The octopus in the aquarium was super friendly and followed my hand against the glass. The Egyptian area is interesting, and decorated to entertain children as well. The museum was unfortunately super busy and had sold out of planetarium tickets for the whole day by just lunch time, which was the whole reason I went. Won't take longer than a couple hours maximum and pairs well with the walker art gallery just a few metres away.

Excellent family day out. Most expense was the near by car park. The museum is free to enter with donation boxes around. 5 floors of great artifacts and historic items as well as much more with a cafe on site and gift store. Toilets on most floors and lifts so easily accessible for all.

This museum amazed me it is free to enter and explore , they just ask for a donation if possible . There is so much to see over five floors . They have the most mummies I have ever seen and the natural history section is phenomenal, there is something amazing around every corner, I saw loads of children in awe of the dinosaur collection . And they have a wonderful look and touch section where again all the children and the adults all indulged themselves . They have a space section where you can actually pick up a piece of what too me was an incredibly heavy piece of meteorite. I loved the way the museum was laid out inside and it had access for everyone to all floors with lifts . Very well sign posted inside . The staff were very informative and very pleasant and patient considering how busy it was . The museum has a great shop and the stuff was reasonably priced . A wonderful , beautiful and fascinating place to visit . Go and enjoy the history and fascinating artifacts in this collection.

What a great, free, informative day out in Liverpool. This really is a must place to visit, if you have a rainy day and nowhere else to go or just want enlightening. There is so much information and things to do! 5 floors plus a really nice and affordable cafe. With Space & Time, Ancient Egypt, Aquarium and so much more, you might struggle to fit it all in one day. The staff are really warm and welcoming and a fantastic source of information. We had a wonderful time and would happily return to see what we missed. Whether with kids, a couple or just biding your time, pop in you won’t regret it!

Not a full 5 star and that's purely covids fault as some of the stuff is closed due to not being able to touch. There is a oneway system in place that quite a few people did not follow making it difficult to navigate and keep social distancing, this did not happen at all everyone was close to you. I didn't see one person in there with face masks which scared me as I am unable to wear a mask due to health issues. There are plenty of hand sanitisation station's around every floor. I seriously wish people would have respected social distancing to make the time spent in their more enjoyable, as I had to keep telling my nephew's and grandson to move away from people which was not fair as others just continued to stand close to us. The children aged 8, 7, and 3 enjoyed it for the most part but due to not being able to interact with thing's started to get board. I totally understand why we are all having to ensure everyone's health and safety and still support the places we chose to visit especially on wet day's with very little money to spare, I just feel that in these cases there should be more interactive viewing that will hold the attention of all ages. Like every other person out there I don't have the answers to accomplished these thought's and how to still make the visit interesting and affordable. Also as a side note the space station video from 2nd Feb 2016 could easily be updated. Over all a good time had by all.

I was really impressed when I got in, it was free, amazing place for both kids and adult, there are other paid for experience if you wish to pay and enjoy the VIP treatment, I never paid a dime but I enjoyed the self tour, I was happy to see history of my origin and culture Nigeria and some historical items. I was intrigued by the Egyptian history. Go explore for yourself and thank me later, remember to take pictures, there is a café in there on the ground floor where you can find something to eat.👌I only had a drink when I visited.

Really enjoyed this museum visit, it has 5 floors and each floor has a different topic. It also was the perfect size, not too big to get overwhelmed, but enough to learn & explore about the topic in half a day. Particularly enjoyed the aquarium piece .

Although we visited on a very busy Saturday we really enjoyed our visit. We were impressed by the number of original artefacts especially within the Egyptian and Dinosaur/fossil exhibits. There's plenty here for all ages to enjoy and it's free although a £5 donation is requested. Well worth the money.

I liked world museum and would go again on a rainy day. There is a cafe and plenty of toilets too. They are clean regularly. The best part is the aquarium on the first level. What a joy to see the fish. I liked the moon jellyfish the most. Free entrance but a £5 donation is very welcomed. Good for family!

Worth a visit if you haven't been before, but beware the warm claustrophobic overcrowding of families on holidays and weekends! Multiple tiered building, so you can either take the lift (which would most likely be packed) or the hundreds of stairs. Live fish in the small aquarium section, and bugs in the bug floor (cool ants and tarantulas!), but seem very compacted in their habitat spaces. There's a suggested donation, with the opportunity to store your bags in the locker room in front of the gift shop. Ultimately a place for families and kids for children's playing interaction!

Amazing place to see aquarium and Egyptian mummies and very detailed information about cultures around the world. I was in a awe that I nearly forgot to take pictures. Worth a visit. Under 2 min walkable distance from Liverpool lime Street station.

Great experience that’s absolutely free!!! Note to people who haven’t visited before the main entrance to the museum is on the left when facing the building, the library is on the right. The main steps at the front are no longer used. There are paid sections or tour’s available on the day at £3-£5 per person but there’s still plenty to do without paying. We managed to park outside the museum as it was not kids holidays, note when we used the pay and display machine, the chip & pin wasn’t working so we had to use cash. Lots more to do and see from here as well.

Would've loved to have given this place 5 stars, but I cannot! Simply because even though I thoroughly enjoyed visiting it and seeing the displays, the more than human exhibition really let it down majorly! Im not impressed having to pay £12 per person to read signs. The whole museum is full of signs to read and look at. I dont know what paying £12 pp is giving me that im not already getting from the rest of the museum. Its just not worth the money at all! Also a let down the fact that the animals that were on display in sliding drawers and many of the pieces weren't out to be viewed and locked away from the public. I understand due to covid there is probably a reason for this, and like I say its a good place, but for a first time visit for myself, I was let down by high expectations from people who have recommended it

When they say world museam you expect a lot out of a visit. At least I did after looking at the website. It's 5 floors but not a lot going on. I came for the dinosaurs and the mummies and they were decent compare to some other museams I've been in. And the building the museam is in is gourgous. As is the park and buildings around it. Also keep an eye out on the lifts to the floors. As soon as you push a button the doors close immediately and my mother was still boarding. So push when everyone is onboard.

Most interesting and stand out exhibition of Egyptian artifacts...the displays are eye catching and stimulating to engage with younger visitors and there is a wealth of information to go along with those displays. Lots of "wow look at this". Aside from the Egyptian floor, there is an aquarium, dinosaurs and space section. All kept us entertained for hours. I would definitely say I'm learned more as a parent, I loved bringing my children to here for the day and they love it too. Staff were friendly and helpful. The whole place is well maintained and clean. Would recommend a visit!

Visit World museum Liverpool today, I was pleasantly surprised 😮. The museum is much improved from the last time I visited many years ago. There are lots of interesting exhibits with many have am interactive elements. Highly educational and an ideal place to spend the day. There are lifts and public toilets 🚻 on all floors. There's also a gift shop and café. The museum is situated well with good public transport links. If you visit Liverpool I'd recommend visiting and it's free to enter too 🤷🏾‍♂️👍

Beautiful building and free to enter, although donations are appreciated. Fun little aquarium and the eygytian exhibition was amazing. A bit thin on the "dinosaur" section as its more of a generic 'animals of the earth' section but otherwise very good!

A vast and diverse museum with exhibitions on 5 floors. The entrance was free. The experience is quite interesting doe both adults and kids. Some parts are a bit dated, like the dinosaurs area. The cultural heritage part is very cool. Also, it is quite centrally located.

A very big building but many of the exhibits were a bit underwhelming. The Egyptian part was probably the best. Some of the lights didn't work and people used the lift for anything. We had a pram and really needed the lift, but at times it was just unavailable.

Just the best museum in the northwest. It will take you a full day to fully explore all the floors and the exhibits. Not only are the exhibits amazing but the actual building itself is stunning. Free entry and if you're parking I'd recommend parking around the corner in the pay and displays. Far cheaper than the qparks in the city.

I’ve been here a few times now, it is a great museum. It’s got so much to look at and brilliant to take the kids for a couple of hours to keep them busy! My only issue is the lifts when I’ve had the pram, they’re a little out of control I think, they don’t go in any order so can spend a while in them trying to get to whichever floor wanted.

Wow, I took my son to kill some time, and we had the best experience. It was quite bust due to half term but wasn't too overwhelming, which was nice, and this museum is just fantastic. I love that it has an aquarium and a brilliant Egyptian exhibition. There's a cafe but we didn't go in and a nice little shop. Just loved it, had a fab afternoon

Very nice museum. Quite big and as lot of areas it has covered. From fossils of dinosaur, ancient fish, reptile, amphibians etc. One floor specifically for ancient Egypt. Few mummies, tools, ornaments, pottery etc. One floor has aquarium. Free entry!! The place also has got a cafe and sovereign shop.

My friend and I took my eight year old son to this museum and we had a fantastic day. It was free to explore, the toilets were clean, and the exhibits were interesting for both adults and children alike. The poetry exhibit with the lights was particularly enjoyable to my son as well as the aquarium.

Sadly the museum is doing the best it can with this pandemic, with further restrictions and less things to see. Its just sad to see that one of the best museums I've been too and that's a lot, and it's just gets worst over the years since I was a kid. Things have been sold to other museums and no transfer of anything new has lead this museum to be very bare now compared to what it use to be. Still good for kids who've never been though, and with the pandemic it's rather safe with online booking as a must, and staff cleaning all the time with sanitizers outside each exhibition.

Cool day out, there was loads of kids, though this will be a timing aspect. Not much staff, but a good time for a few hours, kids seemed to love it. I, a teenager, went for a wonder on my own and enjoyed it. The aquarium was beautiful. Other aspects were sometimes boring, but overall a good few hours out.

Fantastic day out for the kids. They loved the dinosaurs, bug house and aquarium. Would've loved to have been able to see the planetarium, which was temporarily closed on our visit. That said, they are doing a fantastic job following covid guidelines and if it needs to be closed then so be it. Absolutely smashing social distancing guidelines. Clear one way system, tables in cafe moved to accommodate and hats off to the lady who went round the aquarium cleaning the tanks after the kids had touched them! She did a great job! What a great experience visiting the world museum in Liverpool, thoroughly enjoyed this day with my son. Located not far from the train station, this very accessible museum is free to visit and spend some time exploring the many floors which include Dinosaurs, space, wildlife and my sons favourite Egyptians. Got a few things from the memorabilia store for my son, will be going again soon. One thing i would say it was very packed and clustered, so if your not a fan of crowded places, bear that in mind.

Always love to visit here. Came this time with my teenage children whilst my youngest was at school. This meant we had more time to look around and appreciate the artifacts on show. It's a shame all the interactive parts were closed due to Covid, however, it was still fun.

This was a great experience for my young children. And it was free! In the pandemic too. Great find i must say. They had a floor with aquariums sealife such as fish, rays, dogfish, crustaceans and more. A floor with bugs and spiders including a tarantula. Ancient artefacts from around the world including mummified pharoes from Ancient Egypt and loads more. They had a floor with dinosaurs and skeletons and stuffed animals. I found it quite fascinating myself, as well as the kids. Highly recommended, but you need to book online even though it's free prior to coming.

Always loved going the museum as a kid so to be able to take my kids and see some of the same stuff i remember as a child brings back some nostalgia. • 5/5 Pratik B. 2 years ago on Google
As the mentioned name it's a world museum nonetheless. Anyway, the thing that attracted me toward this site was ancient Egypt section. Substantial portion of area in the museum is dedicated to that ancient world. The Pharos, the Mummy's, the Kings and Queens and general population of that era were truly fascinating. We frankly will never gasp the idea that how many lives they might have transformed during those period and are continuously influencing our socitey.

We got ticket for the A1 exhibition during half term. Unfortunately the Planetarium was fully booked, so I guess another visit is in order. Great to see so many families and young kids at the World Museum. There was enough hassle and bustle without feeling too busy or overcrowded. We spent the whole afternoon here. We very much enjoyed walking around, taking part in the interactive exhibits and learning new things. Everyday's a school day! 😁

  • 5/5 Terry C. 2 years ago on Google
Great interactive child-focused museum and interesting for adults too. The AI exhibition was informative and fun. We were there for two hours and could have stayed longer!

Amazing museum. It is very well organized and has great exhibits. There are so many things to learn and see. The Egyptian and Dinosaur areas are my favorites, but they all are truly great. A lovely member of staff gave me a souvenir penny out of her own pocket, as I didn't have any change. I was blown away by the kindness of staff in the UK. It was a wonderful experience that I would recommend to anyone visiting Liverpool.

  • 5/5 Z A. 2 years ago on Google
It's small but it might be the best among small museums...at least in UK. Awesome collection of Egyptian mummies. And prehistoric collection is really good too. The staff: so respectful, decent, kind, soft spoken. Esp there was one lady at the entrance... We enjoyed our time there. It is small but it is very interesting.

The exhibits are abundant and well-organized. The description scripts are informative. The exhibition hall of the world's culture is a must visiting place. Besides my daughter loves the exhibits of dinosaurs bones and insects. If you don't have time to travel to British Museum, this will be a good alternative.

Excellent day out for the kids! Lots of things fir them to see and admire, especially for free! My children loved looking at all the artifacts and learning about their interests. It was pretty busy but was to expected on a rainy half term day! No waiting time to enter we just walked straight in. We enjoyed our picnic on the top floor in the picnic area, highly recommend! There was a number if staff in the bug area who told us all about the crabs and them getting to big and needing to find another. My daughter then talked about the butterflies and showed a picture of a caterpillar she found at home, he listened to her and gave her more information and knowledge! Such great communication with children the staff had!

Usually I’m not into museums, but this one was amazing to be honest. There are 5 floors each floor is different then the other like the first floor is for Bugs and the last one is about space. Worth a visit especially that you can enter it for free.

So much to see, my children love museums and this was the best we've been to so far, we were visiting Liverpool from south wales and had to take a trip to the museum, plenty of facilities on each floor. Lift for less able people, we wish we had more time to have booked the planetarium, you can easily spend a whole day here, amazing collection

  • 4/5 Charlotte S. 1 year ago on Google
The museum is housed in a most beautiful building. Lots to see and interactions with exhibits are plentiful. An impressive Egyptian collection kept us busy for a time. The cafe is nice but slightly pricey but picnic areas are provided. We left our pushchair in the buggy park because the lift waiting times are horrendous. We ended our day in the gift shop which had everything to keep a 4 year old happy for the rest of the day. A nice day out but better avoided on bank and school holidays.

Great and varied museum with good exhibitions and a busy planetarium. Some floors do feel a bit small, but entry is free so can't blame it.

  • 5/5 Francisca M. R. 1 year ago on Google
Definitely, a must-see in Liverpool, a great place for the kids, they enjoy watching the fish and bugs, and other smaller activities are placed throughout the museum for their amusement. The entrance is free, and to explore and appreciate everything I would recommend taking at least 2 hours since there's so much to see. You Definitely will not be disappointed.

  • 5/5 Trina F. 9 months ago on Google
Great museum, free entrance, kids and adults really enjoyed every floor. The only issue was the lift, it wasn't just being used for those that were unable to use the stairs which then meant those who had to use the lifts were waiting quite a while to get on. Would definitely recommend for all ages. The museum was very child friendly with very helpful and friendly staff.

  • 5/5 Jonathan L. 9 months ago on Google
What a fantastic little museum, with a bit of everything that kids have loved for decades, from ancient Egyptian mummies to even more ancient dinosaurs, to a planetarium to see above the planet and an aquarium to see the depths below. I would comment on the cost of the cafe, but the midterm is free, and the food is good quality, so think that works out fair. Fantastic for a day out, and it's on the yellow and red open top your bus routes, (not sure about blue though)

  • 5/5 Sameera G. 11 months ago on Google
Nice place to learn a bit of history. May need a whole day to go through all exhibits. They are open even on public holidays during the school holiday period . Kids really enjoyed the visit. Egyptians' mummy section is really good. There are a couple of car parks around the museum building. Free entrance to museum, so no harm spend bit of money at the Cafe and ornaments shop. Small fee for planetarium show. Lifts available to access all floors and wheelchair friendly access to almost all exhibits. Membership and donation options are available to support the museum.

  • 4/5 Tatjana T. 11 months ago on Google
if you have been to a similar museum anywhere else, especially in Peru, this place will be too boring. however, if not, then by coming here, you can gain additional knowledge and inspiration. PS they have luggage storage lockers, a cafe and a planetarium for an extra charge. The windows need to be cleaned better. Please add soap to at least one soap container in the bathrooms. Thank you

  • 5/5 Charlotte M. 11 months ago on Google
Great museum, has a little bit of everything: an aquarium, a bug house, dinosaurs, ancient Egypt and space. The only issue I have is the elevators that can take a while to get to your floor. Other than that, highly recommend visiting 👍

  • 5/5 Sue G. 8 months ago on Google
Great museum. Exhibitions are over 5 floors and Still operating a one way system up and down the stairs (or may be they just hadn't removed the stickers) but it flowed well. I only saw one lift and there were queues on every floor. Exhibitions were good. Had to pay to see some of them but was able to buy tickets on the phone rather than going back down to the ground floor. Would recommend.

  • 5/5 Mishka L. 8 months ago on Google
Visited the museum this week and loved it! There's so much to do and see, I was pleasantly surprised how many floors the museum has! I especially loved the large Egyptian mummy exhibit, and the aquarium. The cafe was also very good with lots of seating and food options. Finding toilets was a little tricky here.

  • 5/5 Jessica W. 8 months ago on Google
Return of the Gods exhibition, really well done from the classics nerd and museum worker perspective. Lots if space, great objects and loved the layout. Price is great we coukd have spent a few more hours in but we had plans, just wish you had some specific merch for the exhibition or an exhibition guide for my work/studies

  • 5/5 Laura M. 7 months ago on Google
Been visiting here for years and it's a great free day out to spend with the kids, for couple or even groups of friends. The dinosaur and aquarium floors are definitely our favourites

  • 5/5 Laura M. 7 months ago on Google
Amazing, we paid for the planetarium which was awesome (maybe too relaxing🤣) we paid to see the war of the gods exhibition too, but that was far too much money for the 20 minutes it took to wall around, it really wasn't worth the 16 for 2 adults, at least the kids were free! But all in all its an amazing place, we spent most of the day here, and the kids loved it. I'd happily visit again. Ps the scones were amazing!.

  • 2/5 Jef H. 7 months ago on Google
I was really looking forward to this museum but going on a Saturday probably wasn't a great idea. Toddlers everywhere, running around and screaming. It's hard to complain about a free museum but it just wasn't worth the time or effort. The Egyptian stuff was good but other than that, nothing was really that great. If you're already in the area, it can't hurt to check out but I wouldn't waste time going out of the way to go there.

  • 5/5 Russ 7 months ago on Google
Fantastic museum with plenty to see. They ask for a voluntary donation of £5 for entry. Some of the areas not very modern and the items on display are really fascinating. I think the only areas that let the place down are the dinosaur and space exhibitions as they haven't changed much at all in 20 years and it is really starting to show.

  • 5/5 Katalin Faludi (. 6 months ago on Google
Very nice museum, walking distance from Lime Street railway station. Extra like: they have a little wildflower meadow to help pollinators. The planetarium wasn't open due to a technical problem, but the rest was great. Each storey has a different theme: space and time, dinosaurs and prehistoric life, ancient Egypt and mummies, an aquarium, and one level was having a temporary exhibition about ancient Greek mythology that we didn't visit. The cafe was great, nice kids' menu, I tried the scouse which was good, the gift shop was amazing, the bathrooms were clean.

  • 5/5 tony m. 6 months ago on Google
This museum is free to enter, so please donate a little something when you are inside. 4 floors of exhibits , which are always changing, from space exploration to ancient Egypt. We'll worth a visit to pass a few hours away. Several exhibitions were tickets only and were getting busy, unfortunately too busy to take my wheelchair bound child with special needs.

  • 5/5 Alex K. 6 months ago on Google
I visited this museum only to see the aquarium. Owing to time constraints, I was unable to see anything else and I enjoyed what I saw. The only suggestion that I have would be to have at least one member of staff to monitor this section of the museum. I noticed one or two people (namely adults) who were tapping on the glass of some of the displays and this is unacceptable behaviour. It would be prudent to have a member of staff nearby who could intervene in such circumstances. The displays were absolutely lovely and it was visually enticing to see so many colourful fish.

  • 5/5 Louie E. 4 months ago on Google
Amazing place! Definitely requires patience when using the lift because there's only two but considering the place is free is definitely worth visiting. Staff were helpful and friendly and has a lot of interesting things to look at and is a great place for kids! Parking situation is dire and expensive but it is in the centre of Liverpool so can't blame them.

One of Liverpool’s best museums. Myself and my partner had a wonderful time. I love all museums where as he is quite specific and he loved seeing all the bugs and nature areas. All of it was quite amazing, except for the space area which felt like a lot more could have been added. A lot of the museum had lots of empty space which more could have been placed. Overall we had a good time, but we did not visit the paid exhibition of Return of the Gods as we felt that it would not be worth it seeing what the museum had to offer. The gift shop also had lots of items completely unrelated to the museum. If you’re in Liverpool, definitely visit it for a family day out.
