Good beach but loads of jelly fish. The Black Pearl was disintegrated, only a few pieces of wood around. But defiantly worth a visit as the light house isn't to far from it. Kids loved it...

Lovely little attraction on a nice walk. The sand is nice and soft too. Just be careful if your kids are a little unsteady on their feet because the step to get on is just a round log and is slippery even when dry. There is also a nice fairy garden a further 10 minutes down the path that has lots of models of houses made of twigs etc. And then fairys! Was a nice family walk out with friends in great weather.

Amazing life size model of a pirate ship complete with wheel, mast and cannons! My partner and I loved running about acting like children on the ship! (Even though we are both in our 20's) Great fun to be had by all.

The weather has taken our local gem a few times yet the pirates of New Brighton work hard to rebuild, keep going guys we love it xx

My children love this spot. The ship made from driftwood has mostly been broken due to a storm now but the sands great and my two love playing on the rocks and swimming in the water there!! It's a proper sand beach, deep sand and great for sandcastles, getting your kite out and playing in the waves. Some shells to collect, the odd big jellyfish washed ashore. A lovely afternoon out!

What an unusual stop!! I've been to Liverpool before but never this side of the mersey and it was a treat, the beach was long and good for a walk, the black pearl itself was an unusual find and the view of city centre was immense! I definitely suggest the walk if you are around Liverpool!

Lovely little set up to take the kids/grandkids and add some wood into the area

The place is 'closed' there are remnants of the Black Pearl on the sand but the full ship is not there anymore. You do not need to buy tickets or queue as it was a public display art piece, built and upkept by locals, which is now no longer due to damage inflicted by water and vandals.

I am 39 and have never been to New Brighton beach until now. In a hot, sunny day this was a great place to visit. Very clean and lots of bars, restaurants and shops close to the sea

It was sad to see it gone, but hopefully it’ll be rebuild soon. Still a lovely place to sit and enjoy the beach.

Lots open spaces wide promenade. Sandy beach area wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Been here few years ago the wooden ship has unfortunately deteriorated alot.

Unfortunately the seas, tides & weather have taken their toll on the once splendid 'Black Pearl'.She now lies shipwrecked & half buried in the sand on New Brighton beach ⛱️. And she looks clearly beyond repair πŸ˜”. In fact I doubt there'll even be any sign of her (once existing here) in a year or two... judging by what I've seen (of how little of her still remains) on the beach today!!

I love this place, but a shame the boat can't be repaired because of red tape. Such a great memory for kids coming here.

Not exactly look like a complete boat but view is good. A bit far from the city.

Fabulous Free adventurous fun for the Kids! Space for Picnics and relaxing whilst the kids play on the Ship. The Black Pearl seems like a welcome addition to a somewhat otherwise drab beach front. Great views of Liverpool Docks, if you're children love Cranes. Also you can see multiple Wind Turbines, tall buildings, Anfield and the Tip. We also saw a Cruise Ship coming in which the kids found great! Must visit with the little ones this Summer 😊

The Black Pearl is something fellow Wallaseyians ought to all celebrate and be exceptionally proud of. As I understand it, the local Council opposed it but not only has it become an iconic landmark but also school curriculum has been changed to teach children of our pirating history + to incorporate a visit. It has also encouraged many more people to get out and walk along the prom in all weather. A further walk takes you to Vale Park where additional characters have been 'born'. All by volunteers... A Great Visit! Update: The ship is no longer there though plans to rebuild remain.

A novelty play area for kids (and big kids!). Made from smooth-edged driftwood and built to look like a beached pirate ship, this is a great place to bring the kids. It's on a lovely sandy little enclave on the edge of the Mersey estuary amd is very popular for families, with plenty else to do nearby. I docked it a star because last time we went, the ship's wheel turned but this time it was bolted tight.

Not much to look at any more but the beach at this point is very nice easy to while away a few hours

  • 1/5 Kevin M. 2 years ago on Google
This was fantastic to look at, but unfortunately it was washed away a few years back the wood has been rescued and put to one side but the restoration hasn't been done so not much left to look at, shame really as a lot of work had obviously gone into this

Nice spot but not much left of the ship 😊

Sadly a pale shadow of its former self after a big storm πŸ˜₯πŸ˜₯πŸ˜₯

Why go anywhere else when you can visit this pile of driftwood with fantastic views of Liverpool docks

  • 3/5 Laurence A. 2 years ago on Google
I wouldn’t go out of my way to visit. It looks like it used to be a nice structure that has been wrecked. Just a few sticks and a flag. The kids were a bit disappointed.

  • 5/5 Johnny P. 2 years ago on Google
The black Pearl is a little bit dismantled at the moment, just a skeleton (aug 2021) but I think they'll be rebuilding it soon. The beach on the Mersey at this point is really lovely going towards New Brighton and there is a little mobile coffee wagon to help you enjoy the view across to Liverpool. Lovely for a walk or safe traffic free cycle.

Creative area for the children to explore their imagination. Vast clean beach with plentiful seating on the prom.

  • 5/5 Natalie M. 2 years ago on Google
Shame that the black pearl was destroyed by the sea. Not like it used to be but still a lovely beach to take your kids for a play with their bucket and spades πŸ˜€

This place is clean and good for kids. There is an ice-cream van just outside. It's just one hour drive from Manchester. Waves are low so kids can swim comfortably.

The actual "Black Pearl ship" is no longer there, wrecked by storms last year or so. The old mast flags are more or less all that remain, but the area around it is still good as a small beach, close to the prom entrance & also the Mersey. The 4 kids with us loved it all, the beach, the water and the things on New Brighton promenade. Walking distance from Vale Park too. Highly recommended for adults & children, also take your dog, we did and plenty of others did also! Even if you're short of money, take your own drinks & picnic, remembering to take all your rubbish home too!
