Wonderful place to come and see a huge amount of birds. The car park is a good size though it does get busy. You can either pay on site or for a small monthly fee come as often as you wish. The walk ways are well maintained. Good enough for buggies and wheelchairs. There was also an electric scooter. You can stand or sit in the hides and watch the birds. You will need binoculars or a better zoom than mine for some birds as they are at a distance. There are feeders about for smaller birds so children can see closer. The staff are so friendly, knowledgeable and will help in any way they can. There is hot tea and coffee, snacks and sandwiches to purchase also. Just a great day out. One of my new favorite places.

Recently just became a member of RSPB and Burton Mere is just round the corner for me. Not see too many other RSPB places but if they're anywhere this good it means that it is absolutely worth supporting and visiting. Burton Mere is situated near Dee river estuary which is just a walk away and is a place of its own - so remember to check it as well. Both easily accessible by car or on your bike. RSPB has got a good size car park. Caffè is just being built. Shop is well equipped with snacks and you can hire binoculars. There are at least 3 fantastic hides. You can sit in dry, open the windows and watch the birds for hours. The park itself is a good stretch so remember it'll take you easily over one hour (probably more) to go up and down. I've been only a few times (10 in total maybe) but the amount of different birds I encountered is great. Not only water birds. Took there friends and family which means that I do recommend this place to the people I love... I recommend it also the those who read Google Map reviews 😉👋

As a keen bird watcher and photographer, this place is really abundant with wildlife from birds, seabirds, ducks, waders, birds of prey, and insects When I visited, there were millions of dragonflies perfect for hungry hobbys. There was a lot of work going on on one side of the reserve when I visited on 04/09/23. Admission to the reserve is £7 but free for RSPB members. All prices are available on the website. It's recommended to take binoculars or a camera with you, although binoculars are available to hire. There is a very spacious car park. The reserve is very well maintained. You can see over the dee estuary from certain areas. There are 3 bird hides and 2 viewing screens.

Well maintained walkways, great place to see birds like Avocets, rather a lot of walking for little ones but great for older children and adults, beautiful bluebells

A wonderful wetland that attracts different kinds of birds ... and visitors. Advised to bring your own binoculars and spend at least three - four hours to walk in the tranquil park, appreciate the melodious songs of the birds and watch the beauty of the migratory birds. Free parking. Adult admission fee is £7.50.

Great place for birdwatching. The staff work very hard to keep up the Wetlands and surrounding areas. Some of the pools have dried up due to the drought at the moment, but two (Townend & Marshland) both have water in them and plenty of birds. Take a picnic and flask. Reception has limited refreshment facilities ie a few snack plus tea and coffee. They even have binoculars and telescopes to lend out at very reasonable prices, just a few quid.

Amazing place for both photographers and walkers. Huge variety of different birds in large numbers. Great scenery. I'm a very amateur photographer and its a great place to practice. They currently have about 17 great white egrets which surely makes this the best place to see them with how rare they are. Only downside is they don't allow dogs.

A beautiful & excellent nature reserve situated along the Dee Estuary. The visitors centre also acts as a hide with excellent views of the reserve. Also offering light refreshments.

I'm not a bird watcher, but a photographer with an interest in any and every subject. Burton Mere is a beautiful place to come for some really engaging serenity. The staff are lovely and the environment really beautifully maintained and cared for. Worth a visit any time.

Nice RSPB nature reserve. Nice for a relaxing walk, abundance of hides and viewing areas. Take binoculars or a zoom camera lens if you want to get close to the waterfowl.

This is my favourite RSPB reserve. The staff are especially knowledgeable and helpful and the reserve itself is a fantastic haven for all types of wildlife throughout the year. Pathways and hides are accessible and there good views across the reed beds to Wales.

Helpful staff. Toilet facilities aplenty. Lots of birds to see and find. All flat so easy walking. Not too exhaustive. No cafe but they sell snacks. Our new favourite reserve. Will definitely be back.

I always enjoy visiting Burton Mere, and at this time of year (April) the display of native bluebells along the gorse covert trail is a real gem not to be missed

Had a great time walking around the reserve, saw a variety of wetland birds. The Marsh Harriers, avocets and egrets were stunning!

Finally got to visit this lovely place. Staff so helpful, easy to find, lots of free parking. Bring a pair of binoculars to spot the beautiful birds who are visiting. They have a superb cafe, for refreshments. Well worth the membership, so you can return on another day or visit other RSPB reserves

Excellent facilities with parking space and well maintained paths around the mere. Excellent hides for observing. Refreshments and snacks available at the visitor centre with lots of info about what birds can be seen in each season. For the cost of a small contribution to the RSPB this is an excellent day out to see wildlife in their natural habitat.

Nice friendly reserve, multiple trails and hides to explore. Small shop selling ice cream, hot drinks, cold snacks. Wheelchair accessible trails, hides and toilets. Free to RSPB members, small charge for non members. Binocular hire, mobility scooter hire.

Visited at noontime today with my 3 youngsters all under 10. They cherished it. Investigating through the various ways, getting oak seeds, feathers and different leaves, it was brilliant. Elliot at the guest community was useful and inviting. We figured out how to get the RSPB together with a gift of just £8 per month in spite of the fact that you can give just £5 for a family enrollment. This incorporates data pamphlets and magazines for both grown-up and kid individuals

Spent a lovely afternoon yesterday Wednesday 2nd September at the reserve. It’s been a few years since I last visited but enjoyed it so much have promised myself another visit in a month or so. Saw the Marsh Harrier, sparrow hawk, kestrel, raven and many other species also saw the strangest caterpillar I have ever seen. Having done a bit of digging I think it might have been a hawk moth caterpillar.

A hidden gem on the banks of the River Dee. These wetlands and islets are a haven for migratory birds. The staff in the reception, which is lovely and warm in winter, are extremely helpful. The fee for what you get is negligible or you could join the RSPB and pay monthly and receive free entrance to other sites as well a their magazine. There is plenty to see and if you use one of the hides you'll be delighted by the many birds you'll spot. Go there and while away so time in nature.

Excellent RSPB site on the Dee estuary. Important site for migratory waterfowl and other birds. Friendly knowledgeable staff and volunteers. Good hides with excellent viewing. One of the premier RSPB sites.

Beautiful nature reserve thriving with various species of birds. There is a fee to get on to the site or you can get membership by donating monthly and visit as and when you wish. It's definitely worth it though if you love nature, bird watching or just a beautiful walk. Fully recommend.
